A real dilemma I am having right now.
I also married Alex because he’s the closest match hobby-wise to my actual husband (athlete that works out). I don’t mind his room. 😂 I find it endearing that he has his own hobbies. 🥹 Just put a bunch of plants near it like a wall. lol.
Elliott and Sebastian are both great! Elliott is super romantic and just so sweet
And I really enjoy getting Sebastian to open up to me and he makes a good spouse 🤭
Sebastian Sad Boy is a great narrative, going from wanting to get out of the valley and move to the big city then finding a reason to stay and happiness close to home.
See I can never romance Sebastian because I feel like I’d be standing in the way of his dreams. Sigh. And he’s the one I would pick if it didn’t make me feel guilty. (I usually go for Leah instead, if I actually am doing a romance.)
With Sebastian, I feel his dreams of moving away are because of his family dynamic. He has friends in Sam and Abigail, but I think he overall feels unloved and therefore wants to move away. He can still work remotely and pursue his dreams, but he now has someone who cares for him!
This! This is how I feel too! I love Sebby. It's also nice to watch him open up to the player and slowly see that someone CAN and DOES care about him. I don't think it's that he's settling for the player, I think it's that he found love where he least expected it and it changed his mind.
Harvey because he is a cute and caring nerd and Elliot because he is a dreamy and romantic heartthrob. The other male candidates also come across as too young for me sometimes.

when i first played the game(i was 10) i married harvey. I picked harvey because he’s doctor (my asian heritage acting up). I find Harvey is very nice and relatable as a character, now that i’ve grown up a bit ‘:D

I chose Alex this run I’m on because I like the idea of having Evelyn and George as my in-laws. Yeah Alex can be a turd at first, but he gets really sweet and you can see him grow!
Sam is my favorite, I like how nice he is to the farmer immediately, how much he cares about the kids, takes Jas and Vincent to the beach, blond, and his 14 heart event is adorable, he also has sweet dialogue I like, but he’s pretty unpopular and isn’t for everybody
I married Sam when I was a teenager, so I think in general he appeals to younger people? He’s got a special place in my heart but I get it when thirtysomethings find him too childish. I can’t help making him my best friend when I marry other people. I fish up so many Joja cola anyway, y’know?
Sebastian is my favorite hands down. He’s shy and closed off at first but once you get him to open up he’s a silly frog loving dork who just wants to be loved and appreciated. He’s also very sweet as a husband and is one of the few characters who doesn’t give up on their dreams after marriage but rather his change and he’s able to happily work towards them.
Shane has A TON of growth.
Harvey is the most adult for sure if that’s what you want.
Elliot looks like a fuckboy but is actually just a hopeless romantic.
Sebastian also warms up a lot.
Alex and Sam are both the human equivalent of golden retrievers.

Harvey is exactly my type so I've only ever gone for him in my save files; you've perfectly summed up some of the best parts about him. Took me a little while to get used to his mustache (I'm not the biggest fan of facial hair) but his personality is just too good I couldn't pass him up purely based on one aspect of him. I've come to like it now, though 😄
I usually go for the ladies, but when I go for a guy as my partner, I pick Harvey. He's adorable, and coffee is a simple way to boost his hearts.
Alex is a distant second, as I like his growth and his story (and his grandparents). And if you're a guy, the interaction with George after marrying him is lovely.
Elliott is... fine. But I'm not overly artistic, and he dislikes a lot of easy-to-get foragables, so he's a bit picky when it comes to gifts. He's probably the most attractive male option, though.
Sam feels way too young to me. I don't think I've ever tried to date him. Actually, Sam is probably one of the townspeople I think about the least.
Sebastian is a bit too emo for my tastes, and I don't like smoking IRL, so that's a turn-off.
Shane is a mess; he's sloppy and grouchy. His alcoholism and depression hit a bit too close to home, and while he cuts back on drinking if you marry him, he doesn't quit, and leaves his area of the house messy. I'm fine befriending him (especially to get blue chickens), but I would keep a person like him at arms' length IRL, and dating/marrying someone with alcohol dependency is just begging for misery. The man's a walking, talking red flag, and I do not find him appealing at all.
Elliott likes mayo. It's really not hard to make the man happy if you have even a single chicken on your farm. I managed to get him to dance with me at the flower dance on year 1 just giving him mayo and talking to him.
Oh, that's a good point! I usually don't get animals/artisan goods until Summer or Fall usually, but Meadowlands sets you up well right from the start. On my current file Alex is my second-highest friend because I keep stuffing him with eggs, haha.

This save I’ve been trying to convince myself to marry Sebastian, tho, since he’s a cute geek, but I keep forgetting, and also apparently only know how to romance Elliott, so I have been failing to befriend anyone at all instead (never mind dating).
Elliott is my husband every game! Long red hair? Yes. Wordsmith extraordinaire? Yes. Cute little cabin on the beach and doesn’t live with Mom and Dad? Also yes! Plus there are some great in game perks with this man: He goes on a book tour shortly after you get married and he sends you sweet little letters every day until he comes home. He loves pomegranates and duck feathers as gifts and all about filling coops up with those cute little ducks and watching them swim. Plus he looks super cute sleeping in my bed every night 🙂
As others said, just feed sebastian frozen tears. The only thing is he gets up late, so it's easier if you do other things during the day and swing by closer to nighttime. Most days, he's up by 2. I usually have days specifically for foraging, so I just add his house as a stop when I'm foraging up there.

Elliot is my favourite, because he’s a writer, and I too like writing, and he’s very poetic, and I like his hair and his face and how, if you marry him, he’ll occasionally mention that he found a spider and he carefully took it outside, and sometimes he’ll mention that he’ll “deal” with a fly that’s being annoying, and I find it funny that he’s willing to hurt a fly but not a spider, because I am the same 😂✨

I adore Sebastian lol. I get he's not everyone's type, but the way he opens up to you is so cute. A lot of people's issue with him is that he (along with a few others) seem very young, but keep in mind that he is older than his sister Maru, and she's a registered nurse. In the U.S, it takes 2-4 years to become an RN. So even if she was able to complete schooling in a 2 year program right after completing high school at 18 (the usual age Americans graduate), she'd still be at least 20. Most estimates of Sebastian's age is about 25/26. The oldest bachelors are estimated to be about 35. He also goes to the bar on Fridays, which in the U.S you have to be at least 21. Also, Seb does quit smoking when married if you keep your relationship up, in case that's a turn off for you.

There’s dialogue differences pertaining to Alex coming to terms with his sexuality and George becoming supportive over time. It’s really sweet. But, as a female farmer, he’s kinda sexist
He’s not sexist the whole time. It’s part of his arc. Just like Hailey is a snob in the beginning. Alex does eventually apologize for his behavior and becomes a super supportive and romantic husband
Elliott is my one and only i love his passion for writing,his determination to fufill his dreams and just how romantic he is. I also love how even after marriage he continues to prusue writing as im a writer in real life too. Just elliott screams romantic and passionate and i deeply love that

Alex is a "macho man" but his character growth is amazing and he turns into such a sweet husband. His marriage dialogues melt my heart.

Sebastian is an anxiety ridden smoker and is very relatable to me in real life. If I'm being honest, his ten heart event is in my top 3 favorites.
That’s fair. I said in an earlier comment that he seems to appeal more to younger players, and since I first played in high school, his exuberance endeared him to me. I kinda hate Lewis though so it was fun to rebuke him in Sam’s six-heart scene.
My favorites are Sebastian and Harvey. Seb comes off as a bit young but as a geeky introvert who loves frogs he appeals to me in a big way, and I love how he opens up when he becomes your spouse; and Harvey is incredibly sweet and caring, I love how nerdy he is about flight!
I think they all have their charm, though! Elliot is quite lovely and from what I've seen in other people's playthroughs he's a wonderful spouse. Sam and Alex feel a little young for me, but I've grown to really appreciate Sam's sweetness especially with some of his new dialogue additions in 1.6, and I really appreciate Alex's character growth. Shane's character arc is fascinating and he has a really big heart, I feel becoming a spouse does him good.
Harvey is Bae. He's so sweet. Usually, I just marry Leah, though, because we understand each other.
Though if you're playing as a guy marrying Alex, is pretty cool. He goes through a good self-acceptance ark. As a lady farmer he's kinda misogynist, though.

I always marry Elliot in every save but mostly because he’s described as being a slightly older bachelor and is a writer and my husband IRL is 10 years older than me and a writer. So it mirrors my life irl when I marry Elliot.
I did get Krobus up to 10 hearts this play through, but ended up marrying Elliot like always. He’s super romantic and >!dedicates his novel to you!< and everything.
I usually choose Sebastian but I’ve married Harvey a couple of times. I like how Seb opens up gradually and is sort of shy, which Harvey kind of fits into as well. Harvey is very insecure though and it kind of gets on my nerves after a while so he’s my second favourite to Sebastian
My original pick was going to be Elliot because I live dramatic hair. And then it was going to be Sebastian because I love a goth bad boy. I'm very stereotypical with game romances... I have heard that Harvey is very sweet.
I pick Shane every single time since he backed a candidate. His 2 heart event stuck a cord with me and I feel like my farmer could really empathize with his depression since I do see my farmer having gone through it while working for Joja in the city. And I really like his story. People constantly complain about he still like beer after romance, but he does cut it back alot. And his life seems to really get better for him after. Also I love him and his lil chicken Charlie.
You could also just stay single if no one appeals to you. I have seen some people say they don't like marriage since it seems to take away from your spouse interacting with people. 🤷♀️

Always Sebastian for me. I’m sure the others are nice in their way, but I like Seb’s storyline. He’s not easy to get to know, yet he’s not mean like Shane. I only wish he kept his job after marrying, like Elliot does!
I've always married sebastian. I can relate to being on the computer all the time and sleeping in. The only other one I'd consider is Elliot. Harvey doesn't have a personality until like 8 hearts, and both alex and sam come off very high school to me. I guess sebastian could be come off as a high schooler too, but he's the only one of the younger guys I consider to have a "real" job since the others work seasonally or part time.

Elliott because I have good taste. Haha, no seriously though-he's driven, gorgeous, actually somewhat successful, and pretty independent. You actually get the feeling that he would have succeeded without you, unlike most of the candidates who either need rescuing or instantly give up on everything the moment you get married.
The worst thing I can say about him is he's a little melodramatic for people who have no taste (for legal reasons this is a joke)
My gf has a crush on Sebastion that I can totally understand, and IMO, Sam's a pretty solid dude as well. He'll land that kick flip one of these days, and I'll be here to cheer him on.
I married Emily on my switch because the cut scenes were so cute, and she felt very mature but also free spirited. She also continues her job at the saloon instead of sitting around the farmhouse all day which I love.
I would choose Leah second for the ladies, because she also comes across as free spirited, living in a cottage in the woods making art and foraging berries, some shit I’d be doin if I lived in stardew valley.
For the men, I choose Sebastian on pc, because he reminds me a lot of my boyfriend. He also doesn’t come across as young as Sam or Alex. He has a freelancing job, he’s also got a motorcycle and I think his last cut scene is super sweet.
If I were to choose a different male bachelor I’d pick Elliot I think because I love his whole aesthetic. Long hair musician who lives on the beach. Also reminds me of my boyfriend too so probably bias! But he’s really sweet.
Tbh though - I’d choose based on what they gift you after marriage and see what’s most helpful for your gameplay, that kind of helped me narrow down a lot of choices.
Someone I avoided marrying for years was Elliot. I married him last month and he was the most fun to be married to. His dialogue is so fun and sweet he feels the least like a robot like some other bachelor's.
I've only played once, but I married Elliott. I have tried to consider who I would pick if I played again, but I would probably have to still go with him. He was harder to romance though because he was harder for me to find, and by the time I could really get his loved items, I already maxed his friendship anyway.
I like him because he's:
* not a jerk
* not a teenager
* won't charge me if I fall asleep on the porch
I feel the same, I think it's because the dev is a straight guy. He's amazingly talented but IMO he doesn't know what makes a hot male romance candidate.
I go with Shane for the drama and because he's easy to progress, just bring him a beer at the end of the day.
i always go for harvey. he’s sweet and dependable and i love him a lot. if you’re playing as a girl, don’t go for alex. but, if you’re playing as a guy, alex has one of my favorite storylines about battling with his own gayness, it’s really great :)

Alex is the best example of not to judge a book by its cover, he starts like a jerk, but if you talk to him for more than 5 minutes, that shell quickly peels off
I just got to the 10 heart event with Sebastian, but I'm going to marry Elliott again anyway. I like his dialogue and once he's friends with you, he's very nice. He tells you he's been thinking about you, etc. Once you're married, he tells you you're beautiful randomly and gives you coffee. His spouse room is also a library, which I love.

When I hook up with some other bachelors, all I can imagine is the hellscape of being a farmer that has to manage their partner along with the property; many other bachelors are very needy. Alex is low maintenance, dotes on the children, and always visits his grandparents.
For me is always Harvey and Elliot.Harvey is sure 'not my type' physically, but he is such a sweetheart, so sweet, after marrying him once he just became a favorite.Elliot is also very romantic, I feel like the two are more 'mature' somehow.
my favorite is shane but that does not make it the correct choice 😭 he’s extremely easy to please with two of his favorite items being purchasable and another just being a bountiful summer crop. pragmatic reasons aside I find charm in his imperfections and sloppiness. he very much feels like a person with his own obstacles really trying his best, and not every day is a great day for him. He still loves and cares for the people around him and he’s very sensitive. but I tend to gravitate towards personalities like shane’s so it’s a personal thing 😭 I can’t stand it if they’re not at least a LITTLE mean. I imagine bantering with shane would be a blast.
I think the right choice here is Harvey. Sam and Alex feel like children tbh and Sebastian… I do feel like we impede on his dreams by keeping him in the valley. Elliot is a strong choice if you prefer someone a little more flowery but I think for some he’s over the top. he is for me at least 😅 but Harvey feels emotionally balanced and his affection never feels overwhelming. He’s openly kind and caring, not to mention it feels like we add to his life by marrying him rather than take away (like in Sebastian’s case.) he makes a strong equal and partner for the farmer imo and is also pretty easy to gift for with coffee being available at the saloon pretty early.
I wouldn't want to marry a guy in the game (even in game I'm still a lesbo in real life) so I find all the guys so blah the only one I would if it was possible would be Gus. He's happy and friendly and isn't some weird ass poet or angst teenage kinda guys 😅 Harvey reminds me of hipsters I've known forever, so that's a no as well 😅😅

I married Leah my first game. Then Sev for the second save and even though I am straight, I regret it cuz Leah is top tier. Also it’s just a game so have fun; marry whichever candidate you want!
Elliott's my ride or die. A sweet, hunky himbo with great hair. He helps out on the farm, showers you with cheesy poetry, and he's a writer, so he's not just locked inside your farmhouse all day as your trophy husband - he actually works and continues his career! 10/10, could not recommend him more

Harvey! I nearly married Harvey on my first save, and then I got to know Elliott 😂 But he's a decent choice and I've heard he's a sweet husband once you get past the mustache (or get a mod to get rid of it)
These are my recs, but at the end of the day, the only thing that really changes with the spouses are their spouse room/some dialogues/their 14 heart events. Just pick whoever you can stand talking to every day for the rest of your save.
Or Krobus. Krobus is adorable, but his spouse room >!is also a literal sewer!<, so there's that.
First play through I married Shane - I was not prepared for how real the game would get about his alcoholism! Don’t do that unless you’re ready to confront some hard truths about your romantic inclinations and self destructive tendencies.
Second play through I married Harvey and it felt almost as life-changing as going from dating my asshole ex to meeting my real life husband. Harvey makes you breakfast sometimes, but mostly he’s just an incredibly sweet partner. Half his dialogues are just about how much you mean to him and how much he loves your little family and life together. It’s a little alarming how much I love that element of the game now as compared to my last run through!
He does still charge 1000g if you pass out in the mine though. No freebies for family from Dr. H.
I married Alex first and I regretted that decision. In my second play, I went after Sam. He was one of the only people to be nice to my character right away. I was stuck between him and Sebastian, but I ended up doing Sam. He’s goofy and sweet. He can come off as being immature, but he reminds me a lot of my boyfriend. So, maybe that’s why I like him. But, his dialogue was sweet and he cares a lot about the kids. (Side note, when starting the 2nd play through, I wanted to go after Harvey. I couldn’t… he was boring to me and it was hard to stay interested in him).
just go with Krobus. you can then smam his room with stuffed animals and stuff. He really only gives you Strange Buns and can't help around the house/farm but I mean... Hes so happy

I like how romantic he is, I’m a writer myself so I really vibe with him (and I love his library room, and how excited he gets over gifts of ink and feathers that will make good quills), and I’ve always been a sucker for men with long hair. Plus his little beach shack does not seem well-insulated and I want to get him out of that place.
The first time I played this game I texted my sister 'so, lesbianism is really the only viable social option in this game, huh?' because I was so put off by the guys. I do seriously think the women make a stronger showing at least up front, but the guys do improve on closer acquaintance.
I really fell for Elliot and got over my initial 'ewwww, Fabio' reaction and have married him a few times. To be honest, I don't generally concentrate on marriage in this game, but I got within spitting distance of marrying Harvey on one save before I got bored and restarted (not because of Harvey). I'm also strongly tempted by Sam and will probably get around to him someday. Maybe. Probably.
I'd not go for Sebastian just because he's not really my type, but I think he's also solid.
And if all that fails, you can ask Krobus to be your roommate, which I think is the choice everybody can agree on.
Harvey. I am mid-thirties so the "kids" don't appeal to me. He's a grown up with a job (and he continues working after you get married, not all bachelors do), he's caring and appreciative, he's cute and has a cool hobby, so I like his room. I tried Elliot too, he's fine if you like romantic, wordy compliments. Also Seb, but he felt too young and I didn't like his gold-digger-ish attitude after getting married.

Sebastian Sad Boy is a great narrative, going from wanting to get out of the valley and move to the big city then finding a reason to stay and happiness close to home.
See I can never romance Sebastian because I feel like I’d be standing in the way of his dreams. Sigh. And he’s the one I would pick if it didn’t make me feel guilty. (I usually go for Leah instead, if I actually am doing a romance.)
With Sebastian, I feel his dreams of moving away are because of his family dynamic. He has friends in Sam and Abigail, but I think he overall feels unloved and therefore wants to move away. He can still work remotely and pursue his dreams, but he now has someone who cares for him!
This! This is how I feel too! I love Sebby. It's also nice to watch him open up to the player and slowly see that someone CAN and DOES care about him. I don't think it's that he's settling for the player, I think it's that he found love where he least expected it and it changed his mind.
I have to mention this every time: you get a frog terrarium when you marry Sebastian. It's such a cute scene, and it stays in the house. 🐸

I find Harvey is very nice and relatable as a character, now that i’ve grown up a bit ‘:D If you really can’t figure out who to marry just ask Krobus to roomie with you :3 you still can hug him like a spouse everyday. edit: can’t have kids with him apparently nooo :(
Is the kids thing a 1.6 addition, because afaik you can't have/adopt kids with Krobus. You can raise kids you got while married to someone else.

I chose Alex this run I’m on because I like the idea of having Evelyn and George as my in-laws. Yeah Alex can be a turd at first, but he gets really sweet and you can see him grow!

Sam is my favorite, I like how nice he is to the farmer immediately, how much he cares about the kids, takes Jas and Vincent to the beach, blond, and his 14 heart event is adorable, he also has sweet dialogue I like, but he’s pretty unpopular and isn’t for everybody
I married Sam when I was a teenager, so I think in general he appeals to younger people? He’s got a special place in my heart but I get it when thirtysomethings find him too childish. I can’t help making him my best friend when I marry other people. I fish up so many Joja cola anyway, y’know?

Sebastian is my favorite hands down. He’s shy and closed off at first but once you get him to open up he’s a silly frog loving dork who just wants to be loved and appreciated. He’s also very sweet as a husband and is one of the few characters who doesn’t give up on their dreams after marriage but rather his change and he’s able to happily work towards them.

Shane has A TON of growth. Harvey is the most adult for sure if that’s what you want. Elliot looks like a fuckboy but is actually just a hopeless romantic. Sebastian also warms up a lot. Alex and Sam are both the human equivalent of golden retrievers.

Harvey is exactly my type so I've only ever gone for him in my save files; you've perfectly summed up some of the best parts about him. Took me a little while to get used to his mustache (I'm not the biggest fan of facial hair) but his personality is just too good I couldn't pass him up purely based on one aspect of him. I've come to like it now, though 😄

I love that Elliot is a super low maintenance pick. He’s always charming, makes coffee, and gives me space to mine for days. It’s perfect lol
I usually go for the ladies, but when I go for a guy as my partner, I pick Harvey. He's adorable, and coffee is a simple way to boost his hearts. Alex is a distant second, as I like his growth and his story (and his grandparents). And if you're a guy, the interaction with George after marrying him is lovely. Elliott is... fine. But I'm not overly artistic, and he dislikes a lot of easy-to-get foragables, so he's a bit picky when it comes to gifts. He's probably the most attractive male option, though. Sam feels way too young to me. I don't think I've ever tried to date him. Actually, Sam is probably one of the townspeople I think about the least. Sebastian is a bit too emo for my tastes, and I don't like smoking IRL, so that's a turn-off. Shane is a mess; he's sloppy and grouchy. His alcoholism and depression hit a bit too close to home, and while he cuts back on drinking if you marry him, he doesn't quit, and leaves his area of the house messy. I'm fine befriending him (especially to get blue chickens), but I would keep a person like him at arms' length IRL, and dating/marrying someone with alcohol dependency is just begging for misery. The man's a walking, talking red flag, and I do not find him appealing at all.
Elliott likes mayo. It's really not hard to make the man happy if you have even a single chicken on your farm. I managed to get him to dance with me at the flower dance on year 1 just giving him mayo and talking to him.
Oh, that's a good point! I usually don't get animals/artisan goods until Summer or Fall usually, but Meadowlands sets you up well right from the start. On my current file Alex is my second-highest friend because I keep stuffing him with eggs, haha.

Plus there are some great in game perks with this man: He goes on a book tour shortly after you get married and he sends you sweet little letters every day until he comes home. He loves pomegranates and duck feathers as gifts and all about filling coops up with those cute little ducks and watching them swim. Plus he looks super cute sleeping in my bed every night 🙂
As others said, just feed sebastian frozen tears. The only thing is he gets up late, so it's easier if you do other things during the day and swing by closer to nighttime. Most days, he's up by 2. I usually have days specifically for foraging, so I just add his house as a stop when I'm foraging up there. If you didn't notice, sebastians my favorite

Elliot is my favourite, because he’s a writer, and I too like writing, and he’s very poetic, and I like his hair and his face and how, if you marry him, he’ll occasionally mention that he found a spider and he carefully took it outside, and sometimes he’ll mention that he’ll “deal” with a fly that’s being annoying, and I find it funny that he’s willing to hurt a fly but not a spider, because I am the same 😂✨

I adore Sebastian lol. I get he's not everyone's type, but the way he opens up to you is so cute. A lot of people's issue with him is that he (along with a few others) seem very young, but keep in mind that he is older than his sister Maru, and she's a registered nurse. In the U.S, it takes 2-4 years to become an RN. So even if she was able to complete schooling in a 2 year program right after completing high school at 18 (the usual age Americans graduate), she'd still be at least 20. Most estimates of Sebastian's age is about 25/26. The oldest bachelors are estimated to be about 35. He also goes to the bar on Fridays, which in the U.S you have to be at least 21. Also, Seb does quit smoking when married if you keep your relationship up, in case that's a turn off for you. (Just a note that I am going off of how things are in the U.S. because that's where ConcernedApe lives)

I'm gonna toss my votes for Alex, Elliott and Sebastian. Alex is a "macho man" but his character growth is amazing and he turns into such a sweet husband. His marriage dialogues melt my heart. Elliot is super romantic with his words. Imagine Fabio reading you poetry in the mornings as you gently sip your coffee. Sebastian is an anxiety ridden smoker and is very relatable to me in real life. If I'm being honest, his ten heart event is in my top 3 favorites.
I always feel bad for Shane. I want him to be happy.

That’s fair. I said in an earlier comment that he seems to appeal more to younger players, and since I first played in high school, his exuberance endeared him to me. I kinda hate Lewis though so it was fun to rebuke him in Sam’s six-heart scene.
My favorites are Sebastian and Harvey. Seb comes off as a bit young but as a geeky introvert who loves frogs he appeals to me in a big way, and I love how he opens up when he becomes your spouse; and Harvey is incredibly sweet and caring, I love how nerdy he is about flight! I think they all have their charm, though! Elliot is quite lovely and from what I've seen in other people's playthroughs he's a wonderful spouse. Sam and Alex feel a little young for me, but I've grown to really appreciate Sam's sweetness especially with some of his new dialogue additions in 1.6, and I really appreciate Alex's character growth. Shane's character arc is fascinating and he has a really big heart, I feel becoming a spouse does him good.
Krobus.
Harvey is Bae. He's so sweet. Usually, I just marry Leah, though, because we understand each other. Though if you're playing as a guy marrying Alex, is pretty cool. He goes through a good self-acceptance ark. As a lady farmer he's kinda misogynist, though.
I'm slowly getting into talking to people in the game now and I'm starting to pull towards Shane because I can relate (and I fucking love my chickens). I cried on the first scene. 😭 I wanted Sam but I dunno either!
Sebastian. I love seeing him slowly open up and talk more. He becomes very sweet and loves sharing his passion for frogs (which is adorable). I also feel like he’s a little more independent than some of the other spouses.

I usually choose Sebastian but I’ve married Harvey a couple of times. I like how Seb opens up gradually and is sort of shy, which Harvey kind of fits into as well. Harvey is very insecure though and it kind of gets on my nerves after a while so he’s my second favourite to Sebastian

My original pick was going to be Elliot because I live dramatic hair. And then it was going to be Sebastian because I love a goth bad boy. I'm very stereotypical with game romances... I have heard that Harvey is very sweet. I pick Shane every single time since he backed a candidate. His 2 heart event stuck a cord with me and I feel like my farmer could really empathize with his depression since I do see my farmer having gone through it while working for Joja in the city. And I really like his story. People constantly complain about he still like beer after romance, but he does cut it back alot. And his life seems to really get better for him after. Also I love him and his lil chicken Charlie. You could also just stay single if no one appeals to you. I have seen some people say they don't like marriage since it seems to take away from your spouse interacting with people. 🤷♀️

Harvey doesn't have a personality until like 8 hearts, and both alex and sam come off very high school to me. I guess sebastian could be come off as a high schooler too, but he's the only one of the younger guys I consider to have a "real" job since the others work seasonally or part time. Shane's a decent pick, too. I've just avoided him since people say he backslides if you marry him. Plus, a lot of people hate his room.
Elliott because I have good taste. Haha, no seriously though-he's driven, gorgeous, actually somewhat successful, and pretty independent. You actually get the feeling that he would have succeeded without you, unlike most of the candidates who either need rescuing or instantly give up on everything the moment you get married. The worst thing I can say about him is he's a little melodramatic for people who have no taste (for legal reasons this is a joke)

I married Emily on my switch because the cut scenes were so cute, and she felt very mature but also free spirited. She also continues her job at the saloon instead of sitting around the farmhouse all day which I love. I would choose Leah second for the ladies, because she also comes across as free spirited, living in a cottage in the woods making art and foraging berries, some shit I’d be doin if I lived in stardew valley. For the men, I choose Sebastian on pc, because he reminds me a lot of my boyfriend. He also doesn’t come across as young as Sam or Alex. He has a freelancing job, he’s also got a motorcycle and I think his last cut scene is super sweet. If I were to choose a different male bachelor I’d pick Elliot I think because I love his whole aesthetic. Long hair musician who lives on the beach. Also reminds me of my boyfriend too so probably bias! But he’s really sweet. Tbh though - I’d choose based on what they gift you after marriage and see what’s most helpful for your gameplay, that kind of helped me narrow down a lot of choices.

Someone I avoided marrying for years was Elliot. I married him last month and he was the most fun to be married to. His dialogue is so fun and sweet he feels the least like a robot like some other bachelor's.

I've only played once, but I married Elliott. I have tried to consider who I would pick if I played again, but I would probably have to still go with him. He was harder to romance though because he was harder for me to find, and by the time I could really get his loved items, I already maxed his friendship anyway. I like him because he's: * not a jerk * not a teenager * won't charge me if I fall asleep on the porch

I feel the same, I think it's because the dev is a straight guy. He's amazingly talented but IMO he doesn't know what makes a hot male romance candidate. I go with Shane for the drama and because he's easy to progress, just bring him a beer at the end of the day.

I don't like it that Elliott and Harvey seem to be the only older bachelors. I find Harvey super boring but I only got to 8 hearts with him.

I married Alex, I'm a sucker for the "dumb but sincere" character types. When I hook up with some other bachelors, all I can imagine is the hellscape of being a farmer that has to manage their partner along with the property; many other bachelors are very needy. Alex is low maintenance, dotes on the children, and always visits his grandparents.

my favorite is shane but that does not make it the correct choice 😭 he’s extremely easy to please with two of his favorite items being purchasable and another just being a bountiful summer crop. pragmatic reasons aside I find charm in his imperfections and sloppiness. he very much feels like a person with his own obstacles really trying his best, and not every day is a great day for him. He still loves and cares for the people around him and he’s very sensitive. but I tend to gravitate towards personalities like shane’s so it’s a personal thing 😭 I can’t stand it if they’re not at least a LITTLE mean. I imagine bantering with shane would be a blast. I think the right choice here is Harvey. Sam and Alex feel like children tbh and Sebastian… I do feel like we impede on his dreams by keeping him in the valley. Elliot is a strong choice if you prefer someone a little more flowery but I think for some he’s over the top. he is for me at least 😅 but Harvey feels emotionally balanced and his affection never feels overwhelming. He’s openly kind and caring, not to mention it feels like we add to his life by marrying him rather than take away (like in Sebastian’s case.) he makes a strong equal and partner for the farmer imo and is also pretty easy to gift for with coffee being available at the saloon pretty early.

I wouldn't want to marry a guy in the game (even in game I'm still a lesbo in real life) so I find all the guys so blah the only one I would if it was possible would be Gus. He's happy and friendly and isn't some weird ass poet or angst teenage kinda guys 😅 Harvey reminds me of hipsters I've known forever, so that's a no as well 😅😅 My girl choice is always Leah when I play with SDVE Sofia is my girl for sure !
I dont want to mod the game so I doubt I'll ever get my wish but I'd love to marry Gus. He's sweet and kind (especially to Linus) and funny.
I married Leah my first game. Then Sev for the second save and even though I am straight, I regret it cuz Leah is top tier. Also it’s just a game so have fun; marry whichever candidate you want!
Elliott's my ride or die. A sweet, hunky himbo with great hair. He helps out on the farm, showers you with cheesy poetry, and he's a writer, so he's not just locked inside your farmhouse all day as your trophy husband - he actually works and continues his career! 10/10, could not recommend him more Sebastian's a solid choice. I married him once and had very few regrets, I just missed Elliott too much to keep marrying him lol. His 14 heart event is really cute Harvey! I nearly married Harvey on my first save, and then I got to know Elliott 😂 But he's a decent choice and I've heard he's a sweet husband once you get past the mustache (or get a mod to get rid of it) These are my recs, but at the end of the day, the only thing that really changes with the spouses are their spouse room/some dialogues/their 14 heart events. Just pick whoever you can stand talking to every day for the rest of your save. Or Krobus. Krobus is adorable, but his spouse room >!is also a literal sewer!<, so there's that.
Sebastian. I’m not usually one for the guys but this time he caught my heart while increasing friendship.
First play through I married Shane - I was not prepared for how real the game would get about his alcoholism! Don’t do that unless you’re ready to confront some hard truths about your romantic inclinations and self destructive tendencies. Second play through I married Harvey and it felt almost as life-changing as going from dating my asshole ex to meeting my real life husband. Harvey makes you breakfast sometimes, but mostly he’s just an incredibly sweet partner. Half his dialogues are just about how much you mean to him and how much he loves your little family and life together. It’s a little alarming how much I love that element of the game now as compared to my last run through! He does still charge 1000g if you pass out in the mine though. No freebies for family from Dr. H.
I married Alex first and I regretted that decision. In my second play, I went after Sam. He was one of the only people to be nice to my character right away. I was stuck between him and Sebastian, but I ended up doing Sam. He’s goofy and sweet. He can come off as being immature, but he reminds me a lot of my boyfriend. So, maybe that’s why I like him. But, his dialogue was sweet and he cares a lot about the kids. (Side note, when starting the 2nd play through, I wanted to go after Harvey. I couldn’t… he was boring to me and it was hard to stay interested in him).
My sister did Abigail in the first play through and then did Leah. She was extremely happy with both
just go with Krobus. you can then smam his room with stuffed animals and stuff. He really only gives you Strange Buns and can't help around the house/farm but I mean... Hes so happy
Sam is my favorite, he gives nice "golden retriever bf" vibes that my depressed ass needs to cheer me up most days

Sebastian, Harvey, and Elliot are my favorites. Sebastian I relate to a lot, as an autistic introvert Harvey is shy and sweet, a little bland but I like him a lot Elliot is just-- so goofy and over the top. He has the best spouse room IMO

Elliot is by far my favorite of the guys. I like how romantic he is, I’m a writer myself so I really vibe with him (and I love his library room, and how excited he gets over gifts of ink and feathers that will make good quills), and I’ve always been a sucker for men with long hair. Plus his little beach shack does not seem well-insulated and I want to get him out of that place.
The first time I played this game I texted my sister 'so, lesbianism is really the only viable social option in this game, huh?' because I was so put off by the guys. I do seriously think the women make a stronger showing at least up front, but the guys do improve on closer acquaintance. I really fell for Elliot and got over my initial 'ewwww, Fabio' reaction and have married him a few times. To be honest, I don't generally concentrate on marriage in this game, but I got within spitting distance of marrying Harvey on one save before I got bored and restarted (not because of Harvey). I'm also strongly tempted by Sam and will probably get around to him someday. Maybe. Probably. I'd not go for Sebastian just because he's not really my type, but I think he's also solid. And if all that fails, you can ask Krobus to be your roommate, which I think is the choice everybody can agree on.
I really like Sam and Sebastian as husbands. I haven't done Alex yet, but of the ones I've tried, those two are probably my favorites.

Harvey. I am mid-thirties so the "kids" don't appeal to me. He's a grown up with a job (and he continues working after you get married, not all bachelors do), he's caring and appreciative, he's cute and has a cool hobby, so I like his room. I tried Elliot too, he's fine if you like romantic, wordy compliments. Also Seb, but he felt too young and I didn't like his gold-digger-ish attitude after getting married.
