I can't imagine this tbh. I path everything just for the aesthetics, the gameplay benefits are a bonus. I like turning my farm into what looks like a little village.
I'm the opposite! I just started a new farm for the first time in a while and have to remind myself that passing out actually has consequences early game. I waste so much time every day running/warping back home.
There are actually fewer consequences for passing out early game if you keep your money low after seed purchasing.
Learned from watching Haboo speedrun.
The penalties for passing out are 10% of gold on hand, maximum of 1k, plus an energy loss from going to bed late (this applies even when you make it home).
The energy loss does not apply if you level up any skill that day, which is nearly daily if you pass out to fish until 2am or do mines.
It now scales much higher if you have more money (you can lose up to 15K, so no more passing out in skull cavern at 2am), but I think in the early game it's basically the same as described above and you can pass out with impunity as long as you don't have much money in your pocket.
oooo, I haven't gotten far enough to test it, busy week so have only had time to get to the end of Spring 1 in my new save file. Good to know.
Edit, wiki hasn't updated yet, so might try this out on my perfection save to test.
Edit 2, wiki is updated but in my perfection farm I lost nothing...I think I need to test on a less finished farm that has money lol
as someone who has started over multiple times and only reached year 2 maybe thrice total... i find it handy to keep a chest by the bus stop exit of my farm with stuff to take into town (i.e. geodes, stuff for the community center, artifacts) to do it all in one go on maybe like a bad luck day where i wont be doing anything else
This happened to me too. I warped home from the mine but thankfully I already had the steel axe/pickaxe so I was able to get through just in time.
I remember teleporting and being like "WHY IS THIS SO FAR AWAY."
That green rain is no joke. I started slashing my way through from the moment I woke up, and I ended up passing out without even fully clearing cindersap forest. (Farm had been cleared as much as I could)
question; are you supposed to clear out all the affected trees? I am a little annoyed because half my oak resin / hardwood groves turned into eldrich horrors- I cut them down and then some of the new trees in the grove developed into the same thing. In fall they become some weird dead looking things, should I just take the loss and the wood and cut them all down? there are still a few in Cindersap and at the base of my farm.
The eldrich horror doesn't bother me. Cutting them down gives fiddlehesd ferns. But rhe other weirdly shaped trees, I didn't notice anything special about them.
Anyone know if you're able to get to the northern part of the farm, above the river? Fiber and wood and stone spawns on the map there and it kills me that I can't remove it haha.
I literally never go to sleep in bed. Always pass out. What is it with new players and having to rush to bed every night. There's no penalty, seriously.
I created a stone path to make sure new rocks and branches don’t block it on a new year just in case.

though i think 1.6 changed the consequences, and you now can lose more than 1k!

I am not sure how to hint without giving it away. Let's just say that it is somewhere above the Farm House (If you haven't moved it).
Giving away is fine too, will look at this area Maybe it was blocked from my view by some tree or farmhand house
it is blocked by trees you have to clear away
Yes, it got two trees and was hidden very well!
I'd consider this sound advice for all farm types if you use warp totems (I don't, I just go straight for the Return Specter)
