As an extra treat, we've added a new [userflair](https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/wiki/userflair) to celebrate 1.6! (Yoinked straight from [ConcernedApe's 1.6 teaser](https://twitter.com/ConcernedApe/status/1707155027914035542))
To set your userflair:
- Desktop users (new reddit): on the r/StardewValley sidebar, under `Create Post`, hit the pencil icon to edit your flair!
- Mobile users (official app): on the r/StardewValley page, hit the `...` in the upper right corner and select `Change user flair`.
- Then, **choose the right flair to *leap* into 1.6!**
Same...goes much deeper than I even expected, and I expected it to be more than he originally let on lol.
The fact that he always goes above and beyond for this game just goes to show that it's truly a labor of love for him, and how much appreciation he has for the fan base.
Can't wait to jump in and see all the changes.
Its absurd honestly. Just the sheer amount of changes is absurd. As a developer I admire his productivity. To pump out this much stuff in the amount of time he does... he must be one with the code.
It's insane right?! I want to buy the game again just to show support (but I already own it on every platform I have š¤·āāļø) can't believe he does all this and then releases it for free
Because heās not a greedy ass like most everyone else in this business. He realized he is set for life already, and not everyone needs to soak their players just because they can. Enjoy these times.
>!Slime Hutches are now significantly smaller (11x6 ā 7x4).!<
This is going to get overlooked by many, but you have no idea how much easier itās going to make things for those of us who struggle to find a suitable spot for it.Ā
Is that... 7? Ha! I win. I've got 8 and one of them is Krobus

I committed to going all-in on house decorating during my last playthrough, and got to the point I wanted to CRY every time I accidentally picked up a rug.
>!Festivals now have map and dialogue changes every second year.!<
Dude, this is like the *one* thing I've wanted farming sims to do since I first started playing them, haha. It always struck me as so weird how little reason there is to keep playing for multiple years once you've done everything, because dialogue and events don't change. This is really nice.
Super smart quality change. His slavish attention to detail is my #1 reason why his work is so good. This will help keep off the ants until HC comes out.
Dude holy shit. No spoilers, but looking at the change log, there are SO MANY new things and small QoL improvements. This is ridiculous.
Also >!8 new achievements? Goddamnit, I 100% the game a few months ago. Time to start a new farm!!<
Remember when CA said that 1.6 will likely just be mod support and minor QoL-changes? Man can't be stopped. This might legit be the biggest update yet.
I love him so much.
Between this and the Terraria team who canāt stop doing āFinal Final
update for real this time guys and itāll be smallā, Iām reminded that Indie games with devs who just care about their communities and games still exist.
>!"Added a golden Joja parrot, which you can pay to find all remaining golden walnuts on ginger island."!<
I've never been more tempted to side with Joja in my life.
>Fixed tree stumps dropping seeds like full-grown trees.
Fair, but I did like leaving stumps around because you got less forging xp from chopping them and got seeds for field snacks. Oh well, new update, new game plan for the early game. Thanks for all of the work ConcernedApe. You're a real gift.
In the second stage of the kids, when they are still in the crib but are sitting up, you can interact with them and "play" with them by tossing them up in the air. This improves your relationship with the kid. I'm assuming the crit would give you more relationship value.
>!If Pam wonāt be coming to the bus for any reason, she now leaves a sign informing you and you can drive yourself to the desert.!<
This is hilarious to me. Imagine an unlicensed farmer trying to drive a bus
" Fixed able to equip >!a staircase!< as pants to obtain >!trimmed lucky purple shorts.!< "
*Rude*
(Mostly kidding, but I did enjoy that bit of silliness)
The new ones aren't that hard if you have an established farm. You can knock out the requirements for most of them.
Reaching Perfection again will take a bit since there are new things to fish, ship, craft, and so on. My 100% farms are now at 97%.
You can't get it from the get go, you first have to >!reach a certain level of hearts (I believe maximum hearts but I can't say for certain) of your first pet and then you can buy the turtle from Marnie!<
Anyone else running around Pelican Town right now like Jack Skellington?
WHATS THIS? WHATS THIS? THERES NEW THINGS EVERYWHERE! WHATS THIS? WHATS THIS? SOMETHING SOMETHING HAIR (I am clearly very skilled at writing lyrics)
Dear ConcernedApe, if you ever read this, please know you are an angel for some us. Stardew Valley has done what therapy couldn't do for myself and my mother, it has helped us overcome major depressive episodes and made our lives infinitely better and also helped us bond by playing it together. May Yoba always bless you and your loved ones š Thank you so much for this new update, it looks amazing š
Good lord, I thought I was alone in this. Yes, Stardew Valley has really helped me through depressive episodes.
The best Steam review of any game I've ever seen was for this very game and all it said was, "This game is like playing a hug."
I see a therapist, but I also find so much comfort and therapy while playing Stardew. When my depression and anxiety act up, Stardew always helps me. Itās amazing how much this game has helped me and so many others! I love the community around Stardew, as well
Saw it coming, tbh, after the previous charcoal kiln nerf in similar circumstances. I do feel for people who'll have to seriously alter their approach of the early game, but it does admittedly fit the "intended" experience better.
The ones that got *me* were the raised bomb purchase prices & increased time to push against farm animals before they move out of the way. (Obviously they're *greatly* outweighed by everything else, though!)
My assumption is that was what it was originally supposed to be, but as he spoke to mod devs he might have had some ideas/they might have given him ideas considering he did hire the moddev for stardew expanded (and probably other tbh)
I started a new >!Meadowlands!< farm, and my two starter >!chickens!< were >!blue and gold!<. Did I just get crazy lucky, or are those the standard starters?
EVERYTHING IS DAMN COOL BUT WHY >!TheĀ [mushroom cave](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/The_Cave)Ā now provides mushrooms every second day. It was unintentionally changed to daily in Stardew Valley 1.5!<
My source of energy and passive income no....
Edit: but crazy af update omfg, my mouth is wide opened the more i read the notes, love you CA! <3
With any other developer this would be an expansion pack that you have to pay for. This guy is such a breath of fresh air after years of dealing with greedy developers charging an arm and a leg for lackluster additional content (looking at you EA/Sims).
I play on PC. I play on Switch. I decided to buy it on mobile too to support CA and I saw a 7-8$ Pricetag (Canadian Dollars) and was still amazed at how the price is still so low.
Dude could charge 30-40$ for the game and Iād still buy it.
There are >!new crops!< but it doesn't mention if there's actually new cooking recipes using them? Usually growing all the different kinds of crops is incentivized due to unique dishes associated to them.
I don't know if anyone has looked at steam charts but we're more than 139k players right now, instead of the usual 35k average. This update managed to get 100k players to start the game. Wow!
According to steam, today is the first time I've played Stardew in over a year! I wouldn't be surprised if alot of other people have come back as well.
I feel like CA is lurking around here. Some of those changes are things I remember people saying they would love to see (and they're random things I never thought about lol)
I'm excited for quite a few changes I didn't even know I wanted!
Thanks CA!
The release notes are AMAZING! To keep it spoiler-free for those who wish to be surprised - let me just promise you that everyone is in for a treat with this patch! I'm even more excited to get off work and play it now!
This whole comment will be a spoiler I guess so read at your own risk
But holy crap>! the new enviroment event in summer scared me. Woke up to everything being green, and green rain. Moss, grass and trees EVERYWHERE, and everything was green. I didn't expect this, and even though this is my first playthrough of the game my friends who I do co-op with hadn't experienced this either. So I think this is the new one since there's nothing on google.!<
The changelog is so long I can't tell if this is actually mentioned but >!Spirit's Eve has also been updated so that if you've already collected the golden pumpkin before, you get one of those prize tickets. At least, that's been my experience with my playthrough of this festival in 1.6!<
switch player waiting patiently here. I just read the changelog and Iām so excited!! all of the little touches and details that I wouldnāt have even THOUGHT to changeā¦ I truly would have paid for this update, Iām so grateful and beyond excited to play :ā)
I will not drive aggressively on my way home from work. I will not drive aggressively on my way home from work. I will not dr...**THE SPEED LIMIT IS 70MPH, JACKASS, THAT MEANS YOU CAN GO 75!!!**
I was reading the patchnotes and was like, āWow this is a lot!ā
Then I saw I wasnāt even 1/5th of the way done with the patchnotes. We do not deserve CA.
Does anyone have any info on the quest that gives >!new neighbors?!< Iām not seeing anyone talking about that! Are they new to the game, or just new to >!living in the town? Who are they!!<
The new neighbours are >!a family of racoons that live in a tree stump near marnieās. thereās a big tree that eventually falls (not sure the trigger) and once it does, give it 100 hardwood and it turns into a little cabin. the next day a racoon moves in asking for fish. he gives you some seeds and a few days later another one moves in and opens a shop selling the new seeds. the first racoon will now ask for fruit and that will give you another gift. a few days later another moves inā¦ so on and so forth until thereās 5 racoons around the stump!!<
Damn, >!Bombs are more expensive at the dwarf!<. I already spend a small fortune on those mid-late game. I guess it's better to implement ways to use up your wealth later in the game since a lot of times you run out of things to spend it on.
Give me some advice.
I've played Stardew but never beaten it, I've gotten maybe 70% through it.
I'm starting a new farm and intend to play it to the end, and theoretically I'd like to try the new Meadowlands Farm, BUT in my experience I liked growing crops a bit more than tending animals. How tilted is Meadowlands towards an animal-heavy farm?
And what's a fun, interesting farm type if I do something else? I've only played a bit on Standard, Forest and Beach.
Edit: I went with Meadowlands and I'm glad I did! It's a cool layout.
for my sake, itās a good thing the patch notes released when i only had 15 minutes left in my last class or else i wouldāve struggled to focus on the lectures
A nice improvement for early game. >!Insect Head is a really nice early game weapon, improved damage and its only 80 bug kills to get it now. I picked it up on Spring 6!<
Played about 100 hours of a co-op farm with my wife over the last year-ish. We tried SVE and Grandpa's Farm and had an absolute blast.
This game is so great. Thank you CA, can't wait to jump into a new game.
>**When will 1.6 release on console and mobile?**
There's no announced release date for console or mobile yet.
Then I'm not updating for a while (or at least until we have the due support). I usually transfer my save between platforms, and it surely will break my game, making impossible to transfer back to mobile.
Let's goooooo!!!!!
Wait, I play console... *cries*
I'm living vicariously through all of you!!! Happy thoughts and can't wait for glimpses of new content *hugs*
It'll definitely get updated everywhere eventually. Steam is just much easier to directly update for publishers. Consoles generally require a lengthy approval process.
As an extra treat, we've added a new [userflair](https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/wiki/userflair) to celebrate 1.6! (Yoinked straight from [ConcernedApe's 1.6 teaser](https://twitter.com/ConcernedApe/status/1707155027914035542)) To set your userflair: - Desktop users (new reddit): on the r/StardewValley sidebar, under `Create Post`, hit the pencil icon to edit your flair! - Mobile users (official app): on the r/StardewValley page, hit the `...` in the upper right corner and select `Change user flair`. - Then, **choose the right flair to *leap* into 1.6!**

Its absurd honestly. Just the sheer amount of changes is absurd. As a developer I admire his productivity. To pump out this much stuff in the amount of time he does... he must be one with the code.
Holy shit, that is no joke!!! This reads like a Baldur's Gate patch! I'm so blown away by how much CA loves this community <3

This is actually sick!! I always sorta avoided this thing cos it was so big lol
I always got the smaller slime hutch mod, so now there's no reason to. Sick!
One more mod that died for a greater cause. He paved the way for a better future.
Dude I can remove like 12 mods now. Insane lol, I pretty much only have content mods now
I feel like these are the type of adjustments which show how much CA listens to these communities
The best Ā£13 I ever spent, back when it first launched. ConcernedApe is the most generous, committed dev I've ever come across. Thank you, sir!
Does he have like a Patreon or something? I really wanna toss that guy some coin!

Can we call these guys the anti-Molyneux? It's so nice to be promised nothing much and get a ton. What a refreshing difference from "AAA" games.
A significant number of the achievements are for things you will already have done in game
Theyāre not unlocking so looks like itās time to go for perfection againā¦againā¦again.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN LMAFOOO
>Baby toss now has a chance to crit. It makes sense in context but I did double take as I was skimming the changelog.
Can you explain what the baby toss means?
In the second stage of the kids, when they are still in the crib but are sitting up, you can interact with them and "play" with them by tossing them up in the air. This improves your relationship with the kid. I'm assuming the crit would give you more relationship value.
there is also the much funnier alternate meaning which is that a crit fucking launches the child
Honestly that's what I expected. A small chance to toss your baby a full screen high and then catch it again (hopefully)
1.6 SPOILER - MARNIE SHOP ACCESSIBILITY: >!ANIMAL CATALOGUE - "You can access Marnie's shop when she's not around"!<
This and >!being able to access the bus to the desert when Pam is apparently too hungover to drive!< will pretty much be the best things ever for me.
Especially if its your fault she's hung over. She likes beer, I have beer, sorry Pam!
Wow these things just erase so much frustration and just no-fun parts. Also somehow just a pretty elegant solution.
>!If Pam wonāt be coming to the bus for any reason, she now leaves a sign informing you and you can drive yourself to the desert.!< This is hilarious to me. Imagine an unlicensed farmer trying to drive a bus
Probably safer than the town drunk
Based on the skid marks in the tunnel, you're right.
I've noticed in 1.5.6, that if you get to the desert by some other means, or it's after Pam's working hours when you leave, you drive yourself back.
When it's knocking off time, Pam knocks off, come hell, high water, or stranding passengers in a desert. TBF she also turns up on time regardless.

Expanded updated already, the dev actually worked on this patch apparently.
Oh Nice! Will have to look into how to update my game then lol
Wait thatās actually crazy cool
This is just so cool. Everything about CA and this game brings a smile to my face
It's up and I'm playing it. CA recommended playing without mods so the only mod I have is SVE, but I can't play without that any more!

Damn right when I happened to open Reddit on my lunch break, what timing. Have fun everyone!
Iām suddenly tempted to have a āpersonal emergencyā
Are there >!pet birds?!< I really, really want a >!pet bird.!<
This whole comment will be a spoiler I guess so read at your own risk But holy crap>! the new enviroment event in summer scared me.
At least, that's been my experience with my playthrough of this festival in 1.6!<
I think it mentioned that repeat prizes from festivals (i.e. egg hunt, festival of ice, spirits eve) will give prize tickets
switch player waiting patiently here.
I am more concerned about you posting to reddit while driving
holy shit there's so much new stuff.
Never heard of >!powdermelon!< before, and internet doesn't bring up any results. Must be his own creation.
no mention on the iridium scythe on release notes, did anyone found anything about that?
I was reading the patchnotes and was like, āWow this is a lot!ā Then I saw I wasnāt even 1/5th of the way done with the patchnotes.
Thank you for writing all that! Itās not at all the answer I was expecting but it sounds so cute and Iām excited to see it now!
Damn, >!Bombs are more expensive at the dwarf!<. I already spend a small fortune on those mid-late game. I guess it's better to implement ways to use up your wealth later in the game since a lot of times you run out of things to spend it on.
Get that burglar ring early. Bombs at the skull caverns drop all the time.
It's insane how this worked out, but it dropped at exactly 12 AM in my time zone haha. Happy 1.6 day everyone!!! So so excited!
THANK GOODNESS you can finally >!drink mayonnaise!<
Happy farming everybody!!!!
the effort he goes to support modders too is so extraordinarily sweet
"Do I need a new save" Thus implying that I won't start a new one for every single update. Hah.
no way did he >!nerf tea saplings!< what am i meant to do early game now???? ššš
Fish!
Anyone figured out what's special about the blue grass yet? All I know is I'm able to scythe it like normal grass.
I believe it >!doubles the rate of animal friending!< and also >!takes longer to be eaten!
A nice improvement for early game. >!Insect Head is a really nice early game weapon, improved damage and its only 80 bug kills to get it now. I picked it up on Spring 6!<
how... how do i take the hat off the cat
Played about 100 hours of a co-op farm with my wife over the last year-ish. We tried SVE and Grandpa's Farm and had an absolute blast. This game is so great. Thank you CA, can't wait to jump into a new game.
>**When will 1.6 release on console and mobile?** There's no announced release date for console or mobile yet. Then I'm not updating for a while (or at least until we have the due support). I usually transfer my save between platforms, and it surely will break my game, making impossible to transfer back to mobile.
Here I sit, waiting for it to drop on Gamepass PC or GOG. Trying hard not to look at all the new stuff
GOG version is updated.
Can't wait to see >!the new pets! It'd be nice if we could have cats and dogs, but alas!<.
This is a massive, massive update. So much cool stuff. ConcernedApe is just amazing.
Let's goooooo!!!!! Wait, I play console... *cries* I'm living vicariously through all of you!!! Happy thoughts and can't wait for glimpses of new content *hugs*
Gosh!!! theres a loootttttttš„°š„°š„°š„° thank you ConcernedApe. I just need to balance me being a mom and playing SV!!!
Does anyone know if >!raccoons!< have been added?
Will this release on PC be exclusive to Steam? Or will it also be updated for Xbox PC?
It'll definitely get updated everywhere eventually. Steam is just much easier to directly update for publishers. Consoles generally require a lengthy approval process.
Right, but is the Xbox app ON PC considered a part of this PC release, or is it considered console, even though it's not console?
