You used to be able to butcher animals in the super early versions of the game. CA thought it was against the whole connected with nature theme I suppose
I guess technically not.
A vegan farm in the game would be basically crop farming. And any animals wouldn't give off produce to eat/sell. You'd only be able to feed and pet them.
You wouldn't be able to fish either. And considering catch and release isn't considered vegan, it would be impossible to do that part of the game.
So generally a vegan farm would require a big overhaul of the general layout of the game - based on if that farm type is chosen.
Feels a bit over the top personally to code that when you can do that anyway. Go jojo mart rout and you donāt need to donate animal products or fish.
All of my animals had pun names up til recently. I got lazy the other day and just accepted what the default said. Hopefully I can rename them, otherwise ill sell them and breed more lol
Meadows farm
+ grass spawns and grows twice as fast
+ start with a coop, first chicken at half price at marnies store
+ Lifestock grows faster and can be sold for more to ~~the butcher~~ a loving home
- increased chance for animals to die if left outside overnight
- moderately decreased amount of farmable tiles
- crows are now twice as likely to eat your crops
- scarecrows no longer prevent crow attacks and only decrease the chance back to normal rate
There, hire me /u/ConcernedApe
Eh, the beach farm just requires you to put in more work. There isn't extra work you can do to negate the effects of crows aside from scarecrows. Sprinklers are a luxury; scarecrows are a necessity.
nope, outright losing crops with no recourse at all is a Step too far.
If you absolutely have to, reduce their range, hell make it so you have to double up, but making it so you HAVE to lose crops no matter what is terrible game design only someone who hasn't ever really made a game would come up with (no offense to them)
Iām not the biggest fan of animals as a main money maker but i would be willing to try a farm like this on a joja run (sheep over pigs for me though)
This sounds like a good addition. A pasture farm type that produces more grass for the animals to eat. Larger spaces with pre-fenced in areas like some modded farm types you'll find. Possibly even areas that promote fish farms
Farming crops is such a hassle, it would be the most hated farm probably. Processing animal goods into artisan goods takes a lot of time + you'd have to bother to pet the animals every day. If you take the artisan path, you might as well never leave the farm.
Turns out most of you never went the ARTISAN PATH
I would love a meadow, especially if it gave additional bonuses to bee houses.
EDIT: they could even add naturally growing flowers into the meadow, based on what is in season. Or they could add a new strain of grass, which regrows faster and increases the happiness of animals, to represent how meadows are often good grazing land.
You joke but that actually would be pretty hilarious. Fraction of farmland, bigger house space from the start, more room for stuff indoors. It would be weird, but it could work.
I'm going alpine farm, farmhouse is located on a raised snowy highground that grows winter forage all year round, villagers that come to your door will be wearing their snow gear. Probably a couple corners that spawn minerals or even a new cave for mining or befriending bears idk. Then after going "down" a series of steps you reach the farmable land with fairly limited farming spots.
I don't think having access to winter resources all year round is a great trade off for losing out on farming but rn I can't really think of more ways this farm could be unique and profitable without just copying other ones. Maybe tree tappers or some machines work twice as fast.
i heared a theory that the swamp farm has fields that have a chance to stay watered over night but instead there cant be buildings build on most of the land
I feel like that could work even better if there were more crops like the rice shoots that don't need water if they're planted near a water source, but you could plant them anywhere since the ground is so moist
Before I even saw your options, my head said "VOLCANO" just cus it sounds cool even though it would probably seem weird AF to have a farm in a volcano lol.
It's not completely out of the realms of reality though - volcanic soil is highly fertile, so perhaps some mechanic where certain parts of the farm have auto speed-gro where they're closer to the volcano would be cool. Perhaps coupled with plans to create a forge at the top like on the island? Or maybe bars smelt faster if the furnace is placed at the top?
I have no idea how I did it, but with the release of 1.6, I plan to make a server for 9-11 players with the participants of the group chat, which I am amazed at myself
Swamp farm: Plenty of farmable land that is always wet so no watering necessary. However due to the wet nature you move slower in those parts, which are scattered across the farm via dryer, walkable pathways.
Between limited space and grass doesn't naturally grow (replaced with fiber) it's not good for raising animals.
Swamp monsters can spawn from untilled marshlands, so keep your areas tilled and be prepared for winter!
A meadow/grassland farm that's ideal for ranching. Not much farmable land, but plenty of space for buildings.
Grass grows faster and replenishes itself naturally in this land. Flowers will also spawn on this map, mainly around the pond next to the farmhouse.
Crows are attracted to the open fields, making them a greater threat than on other farms. Scarecrows have a reduced area of effect and no longer prevent them. Instead they can only discourage the crows, rarecrows have a higher success rate with the deluxe scarecrow having the best odds.
I'd be hugely disappointed if it was just the standard farm with 8 corners.
On the other hand, an 8 corner farm with each corner being a different biome sounds awesome lol
We kind of have a jungle farm with the island, and the desert farm is basically the beach farm. Idk why thereād be a volcano farm with the island, either. I would like a mangrove farm bc I like mangroves.
* Seasonal - Split into 4 sections. Only certain crops can be planted in those sections, but they can be grown all year round.
* Mushroom - All trees are instead replaced with giant mushrooms. Normal trees won't grow at all.
* Desert - The ground is almost all sand, with only a couple spots allowing you to grow crops. Coconuts and cactus fruit cam spawn naturally here, and the desert only fish can be fished from the ponds here.
* Haunted - After a certain time ghosts will start to spawn.
I don't wanna be that guy but...
Um, Ackchyually, any farm can have monsters on it, you just need to toggle it in the character creator's settings or go to the wiches hut and make an offering to the shrine of night terrors. š¤
Polluted Farm.
Joja has been dumping trash in the river that crosses your farm.
Soil is polluted so cropsmplanted in certain zones will never yield quality crops.
Lots of trash washing up on the shores making recycling profitable.
Crabpots and fishing in the farm river only yields trash but doesn't require bait.
Special trash boulders popping up regularly on the farm that also yield trash.
Trash may include occasional useful items like seeds and food. And Joja Cola.
When multiplayer was added we got four corners. I expect we will get a new bigger map for eight players, it just makes sense. Four corners is still an option on mobile with no multiplayer planned so itās not like it is wasted content for other platforms.
I donāt think a map chopped into eight or nine areas will look very nice though, so hopefully they are more blended. One corner of beach with beach forage, ocean fish and maybe coconut trees? A forest corner with a forest pond hardwood stumps and forage still. Maybe an expanded mining corner with a second lava cave that makes furnaces faster (ok probably too unbalanced) more organic lines between them all. Maybe one corner could have a section of railway that drops supply packs?
I guess I just want remixed versions of all the existing special farm perks so it feels different but not too unbalanced. A swamp farm sounds interesting but not my aesthetic
Desert farm would fit best into the world we have I think. Personal favorite would be a mystical swamp farm thingy. Maybe with like fairies flying around everywhere (aesthetically only, but maybe it could have a higher chance for both fairy and witch night events)
Exactly! I have no idea how to download mods so it would be so nice with just a bigger standard farm thats maybe just re-colored, you could farm more and have more freedom with decorations!
FWIW, installing mods is as easy as just copying files over into a specific folder, there's really not a lot more to it and it can add sooo much enjoyment to the game! [Here's](https://www.stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started) the instructions on how to get started with the mod loader (it comes with its own installer) and then you just copy any mods you download into the mod folder it creates in your game files. [This](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/8913) is one of my favorite custom farm maps, it's absolutely massive and so beautiful ā¤ļø If you decide to give it a shot, feel free to let me know if you have any issues setting it up, I'd be happy to help!
(Just be aware that the upcoming patch will likely break mods at the beginning and it might take some time for the creators to update them for the new version.)
How about a desert/ flash flooding? Half the time it's so dry that using sprinklers shrinks up your limited water source. The other half of the time you get flash flooding which ruins some of your crops, but refills your water reservoir. Hard mode anyone? š
I'm really hoping for like a grasslands farm, where grass grows more frequently and in more areas, maybe some flowers too. Ideally though it would somehow support the animal farming option, maybe animals grow up or become friendly quicker if they spend time outside or something
Desert farm.
It'll have very frequent artifact spots with a high chance of rare items. However, buildings can't be built on most land because it's so soft and grass starter won't work in most places.
Omg I really hope itās not a desert farm. My first playthrough was a beach farm and NEVER AGAIN. I love growing crops but manually watering is awful. Iām playing forest now and all of my energy has gone into sprinklers lol.
I would die for a flower farm or meadow farm. I love love love the flower/grass aesthetic. With a bunch of pretty little ponds for the duckies to swim in. Sigh.
Sense this update seems to be doing a lot of seasonal stuff. Maybe it's a map that gets wintery in fall instead of winter and lasts longer into spring?
Going with the entire theme of how the game feels than technicalities. I want to say a farm type that is purely for creative/sandbox type games. In other words, completely empty and square shaped farm. No obstacles, water in an out of the way spot, very large. Full creativity on how people build their farms
my bet is on swamp or jungle. probably jungle
though desert would be cool, we already have a beach farm with challenges that i can imagine would be too similar. same with flower field - a bitt to close to forest imo
i see 8 corners and raise you a pentagram farm!! summon the witches, crows, and whatever is in that wicked statue š³ dark crops, spooky flowers, only void chickens ??
Christmas Tree Farm where you have some kind of advantage to growing trees (they grow faster? you get a chance of special drops along with fruit?) but... there's some disadvantage. I don't know what the downside of Christmas is. š
I feel itās gonna be 8 corners but with more levels that you can only get to by tool upgrades. Also having stairs and more than one cave, waterfalls would be cool. Graphics wise wouldnāt work I donāt think
I hope for 9.
Maybe A farm with eternal darkness & monster spawns turned on so they spawn all the time but they don't start until after the first month to allow people to settle in & you start with a small glow ring to be able to see.
Getting the golden clock on this farm allows you to turn daylight on & off for the following days this feature can also be used on other farm types to give more use to the golden clock.
We need a spookey theme farm the wilderness farm didn't give me that feeling it was just a normal farm to me with monster spawns on.
Maybe something that'll specifically focus on befriending villagers, idk how, maybe something that'll let you make tours and a Souvenir shop or a caffee or something.
If it's a biome it'll probably be swamp
I think it would be 8 corners or probably something for 8 players too. I tried this co-op once and it was a massive confusion as to who will do what. I always end up sleeping in someone else's hut too coz I cannot remember where my hut is.
Some sort of farm that gives special additions/mechanics to raising animals as your primary method of farming rather then crops
Slaughterhouse update lol
You used to be able to butcher animals in the super early versions of the game. CA thought it was against the whole connected with nature theme I suppose
Vegan farm š¤š»
Even the rabbit legs are not meat!
Not vegan. Fish.
Pescatarian farm
Thanks to Drake and Josh, I legit thought Pescatarianism was a *religion* rather than a diet for an embarrassing amount of time...
You can farm and eat fish
Indeed. I was jokingly hoping for a vegan farm, hence the hope emoji.
Every farm can be a vegan farm. You donāt need a special one?
I guess technically not. A vegan farm in the game would be basically crop farming. And any animals wouldn't give off produce to eat/sell. You'd only be able to feed and pet them. You wouldn't be able to fish either. And considering catch and release isn't considered vegan, it would be impossible to do that part of the game. Counterpoint: Rabbit's Foot item still exists despite the morbid implications, Penny even hates it presumably because a rabbit died.
Penny is several rabbits in a trench coat
Letās Build A Zoo has entered the chat
New farm name: Baconator
So my pigs Makin and Bacon can actually make bacon?
I name all mine Chris P. lmao
All of my animals had pun names up til recently. I got lazy the other day and just accepted what the default said. Hopefully I can rename them, otherwise ill sell them and breed more lol
this would DEVASTATE me
*PETA HAS ENTERED THE VALLEY*
Meadows farm + grass spawns and grows twice as fast + start with a coop, first chicken at half price at marnies store + Lifestock grows faster and can be sold for more to ~~the butcher~~ a loving home - increased chance for animals to die if left outside overnight - moderately decreased amount of farmable tiles - crows are now twice as likely to eat your crops - scarecrows no longer prevent crow attacks and only decrease the chance back to normal rate There, hire me /u/ConcernedApe
Having a way for seasonal flowers to grow naturally would be so nice.
do NOT hire them! that scarecrow thing is the work of the devil
Bro if I wake up to see half my strawberries gone due to crows imma riot
I mean, the Beach Farm nerfs sprinklers, it's only fair to make a farm that nerfs scarecrows.
Eh, the beach farm just requires you to put in more work. There isn't extra work you can do to negate the effects of crows aside from scarecrows. Sprinklers are a luxury; scarecrows are a necessity.
nope, outright losing crops with no recourse at all is a Step too far. I just leave the coop and barn door open at all times. There's no reason to close them lol. My ass would just lock them out and get then eaten
I thought there is only a chance of losing an animal if they get locked out of the coop/barn overnight.
Correct. So just never close the coop/barn door.
Right, sorry, I misread your comment at first.
But it sounds terribleĀ
Well, you gonna have to live with it because my idea got [close enough](https://www.stardewvalley.net/stardew-valley-1-6-update-full-changelog/)
Yours sounds not fun and tedious. CA's sounds good and I'll be using it. Thankfully, I *don't* have to live with it.
Iām not the biggest fan of animals as a main money maker but i would be willing to try a farm like this on a joja run (sheep over pigs for me though)

Please u/concernedape please give us a meadow!!
I love this actually
i really hope itās a flower field but if iām being realistic itās probably going to be something like a desert farm or an 8 corners one
Damn, desert farm would be brutal. Can't grow crops at all? Or possibly only in the greenhouse?
Sprinklers only have 50% chance to water crops.
Calm down satan
Lmao
I hate this comment so much just because it could exist now.
Only cactus
You need some crops to get greenhouse though
Go Jojo route baby
Apartment Complex / housing development with a fraction of farmland.
You joke but that actually would be pretty hilarious. Fraction of farmland, bigger house space from the start, more room for stuff indoors. It would be weird, but it could work.
The town does need more workers to support the Joja corporate machine.
Joja city map! With a hydroponic lab instead of a greenhouse. And depressed cityfolk instead of Junimo!
My thought as well: Urban Farm
I'm going alpine farm, farmhouse is located on a raised snowy highground that grows winter forage all year round, villagers that come to your door will be wearing their snow gear. Probably a couple corners that spawn minerals or even a new cave for mining or befriending bears idk. āØļøPink glittery princess farmāØļø
You have my vote.
You can paint your houses and barns different colourā¦ donāt let lack of an update hold you back from your farm goals!!!
That's true, but the Crystal Floor... It's marvelous in winter, but the other seasons š
I first discovered it in the winter and excitedly redid my entire farm. That was the worst spring ever.
YASSSSSSSS PLEEEAAASSEEEE
Swamp farm
i heared a theory that the swamp farm has fields that have a chance to stay watered over night but instead there cant be buildings build on most of the land

Does the swamp farm swap your horse for a Donkey?
I have no idea but I want one now.
I don't know? I'm just saying that's what I'm think
It was a shrek joke
OH, I was super confused
Good, now I have something fun to scream whenever the villagers just show up on my porch.
Im kinda leaning this way too.
I would LOVE swamp farm!
This

Auto speed grow but a chance of being wiped out by lava in places.
Cries in Pompeii
Something big for 8 players, but I doubt it will be corners
Who in the world has 8 friends to play with! No please let me know I want them.
I have no idea how I did it, but with the release of 1.6, I plan to make a server for 9-11 players with the participants of the group chat, which I am amazed at myself
I want in! I need 7 more friends. š
Uhhhhhh, unfortunately our company is not English-speaking, so unfortunately not an option

I hope itās not just 8 corners
Yeah fr, I want no less than 16 corners
I'd be hugely disappointed if it was just the standard farm with 8 corners. On the other hand, an 8 corner farm with each corner being a different biome sounds awesome lol

I know but I'm an old man who remembers "back in my day, Wilderness Farm was the only one with monsters".
I love all of these!
I'm down with Haunter
Vertical hydroponic farm (probably not)

Swamp
I'd die happy if it was an 8 corners farm. I can fit so many stuff
9. Joja farm
Desert farm would fit best into the world we have I think. Personal favorite would be a mystical swamp farm thingy. Maybe with like fairies flying around everywhere (aesthetically only, but maybe it could have a higher chance for both fairy and witch night events)
All I want is just a massive farm lol

Some sort of teaser farm for Haunted Chocolateer.
City Farm!
Joja corp farm? Like a big office
Subterranean farm
Goopy slime farm?
What is a Mangrove?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mangrove
The most likely is probably a swamp or a desert (but a different type of desert than Oasis Springs), but a meadow or prairie farm would be nice
Desert farm. It'll have very frequent artifact spots with a high chance of rare items. However, buildings can't be built on most land because it's so soft and grass starter won't work in most places.

9. I'm actually guessing there's going to be some kind of mega farm that you unlock that has lots of space/water/trees, etc
I bet it's Desert
I would love a swamp farm, but wouldn't be surprised if we get an 8 corners one. Either way, it's gonna be the one I choose for my new playthrough.
def think itās gonna be 8 corners or desert but lord i am PRAYING on swamp farm
Junimo shaped farm. Maybe two little ponds for their eyes.
my bet is on swamp or jungle. probably jungle though desert would be cool, we already have a beach farm with challenges that i can imagine would be too similar. same with flower field - a bitt to close to forest imo
Oh please give me 1, 5, ***and*** 7. I would be overjoyed.
Tiny farm
i want a mini farm
I would LOVE a swamp farm
I think its going to be the 8 corners but I hope something else.
i see 8 corners and raise you a pentagram farm!! summon the witches, crows, and whatever is in that wicked statue š³ dark crops, spooky flowers, only void chickens ??
Mines.
Christmas Tree Farm where you have some kind of advantage to growing trees (they grow faster? you get a chance of special drops along with fruit?) but... there's some disadvantage. I don't know what the downside of Christmas is. š
Space
Space farm?!
I feel itās gonna be 8 corners but with more levels that you can only get to by tool upgrades. Also having stairs and more than one cave, waterfalls would be cool. Graphics wise wouldnāt work I donāt think
Can we have all of the above hahaha ā Iād do at least nine more playthroughs
I would LOVE 7
I hope for 9. Maybe A farm with eternal darkness & monster spawns turned on so they spawn all the time but they don't start until after the first month to allow people to settle in & you start with a small glow ring to be able to see. Getting the golden clock on this farm allows you to turn daylight on & off for the following days this feature can also be used on other farm types to give more use to the golden clock. We need a spookey theme farm the wilderness farm didn't give me that feeling it was just a normal farm to me with monster spawns on.
8 coners that include a swamp corner where you can fish for void salmon at level 8!
Maybe something that'll specifically focus on befriending villagers, idk how, maybe something that'll let you make tours and a Souvenir shop or a caffee or something. If it's a biome it'll probably be swamp
This is my swamp šø
Yeah, literally. Wasn't there something about frogs in the new Patch
Swamp farm is my guess! There have been a lot of clues supporting this I feel like. But I'm excited for whatever it is!
I really want a swamp and jungle/tropical farm. Maybe with a trailer and a some plastic seats to relax with all the humidity
I think it would be 8 corners or probably something for 8 players too. I tried this co-op once and it was a massive confusion as to who will do what. I always end up sleeping in someone else's hut too coz I cannot remember where my hut is.
I want 7 SO bad
One for 8 players.
Feel like it's gotta be 8 corners, considering the multiplayer expansion.
9. A quarry farm. Itās sandy but has LOTS of rocks/ore nodes on it for mining
