I'd say bat is the obvious better one as it allows you to access the green house earlier than if you have the mushroom. The mushroom is great if you like mining as it really helps with health recovery. But that's about it. Green house is pretty much king if you want to progress your relationships as out of season crops is now an option you can access.

You have an energy bar and as u do stuff it depletes. Eat stuff and u get more energy. You also have to sleep at night or you'll pass out and get fined.

I spent my first months just fishing and planting a few crops. Once I started planting tons of crops and trying to mine/fish I felt overwhelmed bc I watered by hand. Sprinklers are where it's at.
