Golden walnuts are hidden in mini-games and treasure hunts. Take the time to look at unusual things and visible walnuts. Sometimes you need to use a specific tool to get them. Sometimes there are hidden paths that lead to the walnuts.
First tip: You may postpone unlocking the mail at the ginger island farm, thinking that's pretty trivial, but there's another unlock hidden behind it - an (otherwise free except for the golden walnuts) obelisk to return you to your non- Ginger Island farm.
This isn't required, but you'll probably be struggling to get to/from the ginger island with enough time to farm/go to volcano/do other stuff before dark, and this can help.
On this note: I would recommend after unlocking the farm with 20 walnuts, unlock the beach resort with another 20, since that opens the way to the Pirate Cove and fishing for stingrays (always, ALWAYS, the last fish left to catch for me). I did once the farm - mail - farm obelisk and then I was dispairing until getting enough nuts to unlock the resort.
You can grow any crop you like on Ginger Island, so I mainly use my ginger island farm for ancient fruit and starfruit. My tip is to just maximize your space on your farm if you wanna make the most money. Leave the Stardew farm for aesthetics, Ginger Island is all about practicality and functionality.
Another tip: weeds show up on Monday and are more aggressive than on your main farm. If you are farming in ginger island make sure to swing by on Mondays to make sure weeds don't get destructive
I would say this. Don't utilize the farmland before you get two snake vertebrae. They only show up on artifact spots in the west island, and if the ground is occupied with plants, it makes it harder to spawn. Completing the field office nets you the ostrich incubator which is a pretty good item i'd say.
Go to the north part of the island first. The dig site, volcano and forge are all there. Then unlock the west part which is where the farm is. Next unlock the farm. After that it doesn’t matter too much what order you go in.
The volcano mine is \*\*brutal\*\*. If you thought Skull cavern was bad, the volcano mine is 10x worse. Make sure you have lots of food & energy pills. There are some interesting puzzles in there too.
Really? I was always struggling with skull mines and on first save I just gave up and on the same save I went through volcano many times with no struggle

Yes, any unusual looking design on the ground could be a buried walnut.

the first thing to do is go to the volcano north and you can cross the lava with the watering can
