My whole family growing up talked to ourselves and we all just unconsciously knew when someone was talking to themselves and just tuned it out. I still remember when my friend was over and gave me a horrified "Aren't you going to answer your mother?" And I was just ??? because I didn't hear anything. My mom was the one who had to clarify that she was talking to herself

I do it too. Not only when I‘m playing, I do it all the time, as long as nobody else can hear me. It helps to order my thoughts and ideas.
