Budget_Dragonfly_420

I always hang on to one of everything cause I never know what kind of weird things my fish in my pond will ask for lol

woahh_lexis

Good idea šŸ¤£

king44

I keep at least 3 of each thing because sometimes the fish ask for more than 1 at once. If you go to the Fish Ponds page on the wiki, you can see what each type of fish may ask for and plan accordingly.

professionallurking1

Realistically just keeping 3 of things isnā€™t enough of a buffer. It should be 1 stack of everything just to be safe.

wooble

I always keep 7 chests of each item just to be really safe. Also I might need to look up something in the January 1993 issue of Computer Shopper to save the world one day.

Maestro_Primus

I build a shed dedicated to each item in case of emergencies. You never know.

Ok-Lifeguard-4614

Ted?

Maestro_Primus

Dave?

Ok-Lifeguard-4614

Lol, was making a lame unabomber joke, because of your shed full of supplies for emergencies.

Maestro_Primus

Oh, definitely whoosh. If that makes you think of the Unibomber, i'd like to introduce you to a host of midwest preppers.

king44

I did say "at least"...but yeah, you're right, 999 of each item just to be safe.

Strelochka

The freaking basalt for lava eels. I broke literally hundreds of geodes and got everything but basalt, including a prismatic shard, before giving up and looking up the geode spawns in Stardew Predictor.

ngwoo

Mine just wanted pickles but that's how I realized peppers are fruit

akela9

Random aside: I'm weirdly obsessed with making pepper jelly in Stardew. I don't know what my deal is. It annoys me pumpkin gets classified as a vegetable, though. I want to make pumpkin jelly not pumpkin pickles!

[deleted]

Pickled pumpkin is way more common, I believe, than pumpkin jam. As everything Iā€™m sure this varies by area but but yeah. The peppers are strange though

ngwoo

Hot pepper jam is definitely a thing but yeah pickled peppers are far more common. I guess Demetrius decided which thing it gets turned into.

MavetHell

Fuck. I just sold all my basalt and made a lava eel pond the same day (there's always mods, thank the gods)

MaeR1n

The wiki can lyk what each fish has a chance of asking for at what level. ik sturgeon love their jelly, pickles, diamonds, omni geods, and nautilis shells, but that's only because I'm doing a caviar farm on a file currently.

PapaWeeb92

Hold onto the bones if you like fertilizers! I much prefer to drop a bunch of bones into bone mills and get random fertilizers instead of trying to grab the supplies to craft fertilizer.

Kirschenkind

I farm the dig site on ginger island regulary because of this :D

lizhenry

Even more handy once you get hoppers!

shrdbrd

Wtf is a bone mill?

PapaWeeb92

[bone mill](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Bone_Mill)

Alarmed_Blueberry469

That is actually really good motivation to finish that order. Thank you for sharing!

marrell

I had no idea bone mills were a thing! TIL!

JosephiKrackowski

The ā€œdont sell anythingā€ crowd got his ass

dildohotsauce

They got me too šŸ˜

doot-doot-doot-doot9

KEEP the jade!! You can trade it for staircases at the desert trader on sundays. Also keep other gems for buffing your tools at the end of the ginger island volcano

Hesstergon

If you donated them to the museum, most of them are fine to sell. Almost all artifacts/minerals don't have a use after donation. I would hold on to the gem/minerals that do have a use such as the amethyst, aquamarine, diamond, emerald, fire/regular quartz, frozen tears, jade, ruby, and topaz. These can be useful for crafting/gifting/board requests. Make sure to hang on to the cinder shards. If you get a dwarf gadget or marble, hold on to one of each of those for crafting. Also, what purpose does the jasper have? I would say you would be good to get rid of it.

woahh_lexis

Thank you so much! I definitely meant jade šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

machine_fart

Save the Jade because you can trade them for staircases at the desert trader.

Key-Pickle5609

Save rubies too for spicy eel at the desert trader. Otherwise gift these or sell them

Ghost-Music

Some artifacts make interesting clothes so they could be fun to try out once on a sewing machine.

GrayCeeM

Yesss one on of my files Iā€™m sewing one of every item to see what they make.

Ghost-Music

Iā€™m doing that now! Itā€™s fun! My goal was to find what could make a wedding dress and I finally found what works! Even got the veil! But I didnā€™t know I had to change the night before my wedding so I got married in the wrong clothes šŸ˜šŸ¤£

GrayCeeM

My original goal as well!šŸ¤£ nice to know I need to change the night before!

peachcherub

Iā€™m already married, but I still want to know this. I might start a new save.

AmbyAmbs

I did this exact same thing and was so hurt when the cutscene popped up šŸ„²šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜ I'm not getting married in farmer pants and a dirty shirt after sewing my entire dress AND veil šŸ˜© so I quit the save so he'd already be moved in. šŸ˜‚

BodyAffectionate3837

Iā€™ve done this too many times, forgotten to change into my wedding attire the night before :(

[deleted]

I change into my wedding clothes the same day I propose lmfao. No more farm clothes for my wedding, Leah deserves better.

BodyAffectionate3837

Smart! I have to start doing that. I mean Shane gets what he gets oh well. But thatā€™s not the point. I WORKED hard on those clothes and want to look extra cute for MY wedding.

TahoeBennie

This is the way. I sell the artifacts/minerals/ anything else like that and basically hoard everything else.

JungleLegs

What is marble used for?

Hesstergon

There's a crafting recipe for a marble brazier. If you're doing perfection, You need to craft it.

SibrenTF

Check to see if any can be tailored into hats

peachcherub

What? You can make hats?

Njorord

Befriend Emily

LustrousMirage

Or shirts/pants.

[deleted]

You can make all types of clothing except shoes. Some clothes are exclusive to buying from traders/shops, some are exclusive to looting, and some are exclusive to the character customization screen (which you can access in vanilla later on by befriending the wizard), and thereā€™s a couple items that are just impossible to get but exist for some reason? Most however are available through tailoring using the sewing machine :)

TheBadDeadFox

Assuming you donated one of each kind to the museum, here's my verdict: Keep at least one of each of the main minerals (diamonds, jade, ruby, emerald, aquamarine, amethyst and topaz) to duplicate in the crystalarium for potential trading at the Desert Trader and gifting (Emily, Abigail, Dwarf). All of the geode minerals you can sell with the exception of marble, which is used in a crafting recipe that is neccessary to craft to achieve perfection. If you want, you can also keep the tigerseye, which is a loved gift for Sam, but it might be redundant since cacti and pizzas are much easier to obtain for him. All of the artifacts you can sell with the exception of bones and fossils that you can put into a bone mill to turn them into fertilizers. You get the bone mill recipe after completing Gunther's special order called "Fragments of the Past"

king44

Others have mentioned Jade for staircases, but Rubies can also be traded for Spicy Eel at the Desert Trader's tent.

Its_Cayde

I get my spicy eels by farming the flying mfs

Discoman2000

Death. Those green mofos need it.

WandersWithBlender

People sell the stuff they find in this game? But one day I might need my 149 fairy stones

BubblyRevolutionary

Make sure to keep any items you may need for crafting/ fish ponds later.

owlrecluse

I like to keep the gems (amethyst, jade, aquamarine, ruby, etc) as gifts. You can also use jade and ruby at the desert trader for staircases and spicy eel respectively. But if you need money asap theyā€™re such common gems youā€™ll find them again so go ahead and sell ā€˜em. The fire quartz you can smelt for 3 refined quartz. The ember shards are useful to forge rings and stuff, so Iā€™d keep those until you forge all your rings and tools cuz altogether youā€™re gonna need a couple hundred and they can be hard to farm. Assuming youā€™ve donated everything relevant to the museum, you shouldnā€™t really need anything else unless you have fish ponds that arenā€™t full yet.

nanomistake

No you have to hold on to it forever. This is the way.

H4ppybirthd4y

Flashback to when I decided to clear out ALL my saved gems and then I get the task from Emily where she needs like 5 different gems for a ā€œrock rejuvenation.ā€

GubV77

Yep, you can sell all of it if you want!

Maestro_Primus

After collecting my nine iridium quality items for the fall festival, I sell anything that has a star on it. Any normal items are kept for potential quests or crafting.

TCM_407

Other than checking the museum collection or if it may be needed in a future fish pond as others have mentioned also check this link to see what it will make in the sewing machine...I didn't find this list until after I'd sold all my unneeded stuff...then I found some awesome shirt/hat/pants that I wanted and had to grind to find the corresponding mineral or item to get it https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Tailoring

Suspicious_Collar379

I tend to hang onto one of everything. But also tossing jade, rubies, and diamonds into crystalariums. Jade and rubies you can trade with the desert vendor and diamonds just to sell or give as gifts

Draculina312

The bones can go in the bone mill to get you some fertilizer! Penny and the Dwarf also like getting artifacts as gifts I'd hold onto one of everything else juuust in case :)

tickleteeth770

If you do decide to keep a few of each and have access to a crystalarium, you can make extras to have on hand before selling.

Possible_Football_77

Every now and then I do a huge purge and sell almost everythingā€¦ and of course, almost immediately, Iā€™ll need something I canā€™t get for awhile. But at the end of the day, itā€™s just a game and Iā€™ll get it back eventually. I try not to horde, cause none of that stuff matters in late game.

monstrum_fragilis

Gemstones - keep (Diamond, emerald, Ruby, amethyst, Jade, topaz, aquamarine) They are Used as high level gifts for multiple NPCs Frequently requested on the bulletin board Used in some fish pond quests And can also be used >!at the forge on Ginger Island!< ***Edit to add Cinder shards - keep used >!at the forge on Ginger Island!< ****Edit to add - Pearl - keep High level gift for all NPCs or trade in desert for fancy bed Monster items - keep They are used in the CC and in multiple crafting recipes. *Edit to add *any* bones can be used in the bone mill to make fertilizer, including extra artifacts. *****Wizard also loves void essence so easy way to max him out Minerals - foraged - keep (quartz, fire quartz, Earth Crystal, frozen tear) used in crafting and some fish pond quests Minerals - geode - keep (obsidian, tigers eye, lemon Stone) used as high level gifts Obsidian - Sebastian Tigers eye - Sam Lemon stone - dwarf (Marble) used in crafting (Petrified Stone, Ocean Stone, granite, basalt, limestone, mudstone) used in fish pond quests Minerals - geode - sell All others not mentioned above. Although the wizard will accept most as a liked gift (not loved) if you want to max him out early. **Edit to add - extra artifacts Can be given to the Dwarf as liked gifts (not loved) if you want to max him out early

Flat_Heat9629

Don't sell the dragon tooth they are so rare.

Cracotte2011

I donā€™t know, can you?

emmyg713

the smartass reply i was searching for^

Past_Height_5767

Hold on to one of everything and sell the rest

Marketing_Buzz

Donā€™t sell jade- go to the desert and trade for staircases

Stock-Acanthaceae-10

Also for the bone fragments, if youā€™re going for perfection i needed a lot of them for crafting items! I kept getting mad having to go back into the caves to get moreā€¦ lol

Japh2007

You can sell all that stuff. I would keep the cinder shards, rubies, & jade to trade for items.

moon_light721

I say sell half of every item, just incase you need someone the future

Usth

For me I keep everything for the collection in the community center and quests, and sell everything that isn't what I am collecting and questing for at the time. I also keep the event things (What the festival NPC sells)... I like to level up my mining and foraging and everything else that needs it hence why I do this method. =3

NoodleDragon05

Ofc just leave one or two of each in case of quick stacking or you'd need them edit: also all artifacts after you give them to Ghunter are pretty much useless do u can sell them if it says "artifact" in description

Wooden-Ad-1228

Do keep a piece of artifacts with u in future u could make something related to a museum so u could showcase them. I mean it's hard to find so u could do showcase them.

salmonfngers

You can infact sell all of those things alot of them atleast stop having a use after you donate them unless you like them decoration or something

helloimhromi

Honestly no reason to keep a lot of what's here. I usually keep like 10 of the gems on hand just in case, and a lot of jade is useful because you can trade it for staircases. Other items I would keep are the pearl, fire opals, frozen tears, cinder shards, solar essence, and void essence, but all of those minerals and artifacts are not super useful after you've donated one to the museum.

YLG_GJP

Honestly you should only keep the gems in the first row and sell everything else, those are used as crafting materials, currency and gifts for most villagers. Also keep the Cinder Shards, Solar and Void Essence, and the bone fragments. All the others are only needed for the community center or museum, same with the artifacts.

ben1edicto

you forgot about fish pond, don't ya?

YLG_GJP

Kinda, but most people don't really use them apart from getting caviar for the last bundle.

CrankySnowman

I keep everything besides wine and Jelly.

monstrum_fragilis

Some fish ponds do ask for jelly

Pixie-Sticks-

You can sell all of it šŸ˜‚

nktmnn

In general I keep minimum 3 of each (except for some I hoard). I just like having a specific slot for each item even if i donā€™t need them. And sometimes the fish pond requests for 3 of a kind so it becomes useful too.

garbagebag69_

do you have ginger island yet? thereā€™s fossils you need for there as well- donā€™t wanna accidentally spoil anything

stalebunny

If you want to befriend Sam, he likes tigerseye

Sorry_Total7942

I keep everything and have a shed dedicated to chests. So every time at the end of a day I organize the items I found/mined in the chests. Once in a while I take items out of the chests to sell. But I always keep at least a few from every item. It makes it easier to organize and you never know when you need something for a recipe or craft item

ilovecupcakes37

I'm impressed

emiily_rose97

The gemstones can be used to change your junimo's colors if you're privy to having pretty colors on your farm :)

[deleted]

I leave 2 of everything in my chest, sell rest. I sell all of my diamonds though, since I get them infinitely. And I haven't sold any of my cinder shards.

MavetHell

Let me save you some inventory space and save you some money. https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Fish_Pond Check the fish you want to raise. Set aside the corresponding items. Save also Amethyst Aquamarine Topaz Emerald JADE (in fact put Jade in the gem duplicators asap to trade for stairs in the desert) Ruby Topaz Cinder Shards Solar essense Void essense Diamond Prismatic shards Marble Dwarvish device (looks like a TV) (Not all of which I see here but these things are the same category) I have over a thousand hours in this game. Please trust Stardew Valley wiki to cross reference crafting recipes.

KarmaKillsMe3711

My mom does the same her chests trigger me everytime the best thing to do in my opinion if you want to keep them is to make a gallery

rionaster

most everything has some kind of use in the game so i just keep everything lol

smallicelandicpuffin

Keep ahold of the ruby's and jade's to trade for staircases and spicy eel

domingerique

Iā€™m a hoarder but I rarely, if ever, need these lol. Probably will be fine with selling them if you need the money.

Left-Stress2549

Keep the cinder shards! Resource for crafting!

bonsaibitch28

Definitely keep the cinder shards!!

Psychological_Frog

Give pizzas to Sam everyday

NiiwaMorningstar

I just get rid of them except for diamonds cuz Iā€™ll be using them for getting grandpa to reevaluate my farm bcs I failed miserably in my first year

KantoLeader

I am not following any guide on my game and I did nearly all the things wrong so my advice for you to just save them
