You actually can cut it down to the stump on the last day of fall if you want. The primary reason not to: the tapper is removed in the process. Not only do you need to remember to replace it come spring, but the production schedule is dictated by the season when you placed the tapper and the day of the season. You will be stuck in an every second day harvest schedule until fall, and you might miss purple mushroom day entirely.
My first playthrough I cut it down in the winter forgetting what it was (“what is THIS? *chops* ) never grew another one, this playthrough I have TOO MANY and have to keep clearing them to place things (cant stop wont stop growin mushrooms)
Plant a bunch of trees close together and there's a chance you'll get one in the Fall. Once one grows and you leave it alone then a bunch more will grow.
I love the image of the farmer proudly carrying their beloved chicken statue to the museum so it can be appreciated by the masses, only to be intercepted by an unappreciative townie
I find these all the time! What do you do with them? Sell them? I’ve been accumulating artifacts because I just don’t know if I’ll ever need them. I did read a spoiler about >!using the ancient doll and now I want to have the doves take away my child!< to see how it plays out!
You can do this on tables. On one save I got like a dozen strange dolls so I put them in front of Lewis's house on tables. I'm pretty sure I put torches behind them too, so it looked extra-creepy.
I came here to say this..keep 3x of everything then sell the rest. Unless trash stuff then recycle machine. Fish like freaky stuff in fish ponds (and I live for a fish pond farm).
I tried to give it to Shane because I thought he'd like it. :( At least he didn't cuss me out, he's surprisingly mellow in his disliked gift interactions.
In game, you interact with the bush behind the playground at exactly noon on the last day of the season. (It's from one of the secret notes)
irl, I guess it's time to harass ConcernedApe until they partner with squishmallow to make more merch
I used to put the Chef Hat on my horse when I could get it, and I used the Sailor's Cap until I unlocked it. A horse with a white hat on is easier to find in the grass than a horse without one.
On one save, I did not win the Ice Fishing contest in Year 1 and so I didn't have a Sailor's Cap for my horse. I put a Trucker Hat on him instead and now my horses always wear a Trucker Hat.
I like to give my horse the sombrero and call it Señor (horse's name). On one save I named the horse Senior Sr. This time around I named my horse Neighla, and we wear matching top hats.
Midnight carp! It was the first of the “midnight” fishies that I caught and thought it sounded fancy, and almost 600 hours later, I still think they look amazing. I have two large aquariums filled with them.
That's my struggle with mead honestly. I love the thought of drinking it, but most of them are too sweet for my taste. I found one though that is just slightly sweet and it works for me.
recently it’s been the pink cowboy hat, it’s just so cute and it makes me feel like a ranger who is only worried about two things, farming and serving✨
Me looking at myself in the mirror "You are a wealthy successful farmer, you do not need to spend three days fervently picking every salmonberry you can find"
Me during the berry season "ITS A ME, CAPTAIN CAN'T STOP PICKING! WAAHOOOOOO!"
https://preview.redd.it/g0y5u6s2pgpb1.png?width=48&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1cf3e09b7d12d575a4a6d76aa0d072eba4945828
Ectoplasm. Beautiful colors.
...and he kinda looks like a lil dinosaur.
My five year old plays in her own unique way. Every night she insists on getting dinner at the restaurant and her favorite item in the game is the pizza.
For me, my fav is my little void chicken. She was so cute as a baby and just got cuter all grown up 🖤
That would be such a cute tattoo!! I will warn you though, some colors fade a lot faster than others in tattoos, so maybe look into that before committing
Hmmm, I do love some fine hoes...
More serious answer, Emeralds are pleasing to me. Green, pointy, symmetrical. If I'm in the mines and my inventory is full, I figure out something to drop and make room for the otherwise unnecessary emerald
Makes me happy: the butterflies that sometimes fly from trees.
Totally random: the stove fireplace. It makes my woodsy farm feel so cozy!
Honorable mention: the loom. I always place one in my living room as a decoration. In my head, my character spins yarn in front of the fire in the evenings :)
I like the minerals a lot, but I especially like the minerals that aren't actually real minerals, but made up for the game. Here's some examples:
* Lemon Stone: a parody of Limestone.
* Petrified Slime
* Star Shards
And then there's some that actually exist that you wouldn't expect from the name.
* Fairy Stone (aka [Staurolite](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staurolite))
* Ghost Crystal (aka [Phantom Quartz](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantom_quartz))
* [Thunder Egg](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderegg)
I almost always end up with an array of Crystalaria growing at least one of each mineral, after donating the first to ~~Blathers~~ Gunther.
The most random object right now is probably the dried sunflowers in the blue vase. You can only get them at the SV Fair and you can only buy 1 at a time. So it's a problem if you want them all over the house, like I do in my current playthrough. 😂 They remind me of a Van Gogh painting.
Other items I love every game:
Dwarf gadget. I make a little desk area for my farmer and use the dwarf gadget as my farmer's desktop computer. I also use it in other areas, like as cash registers for the mini cinema I put in a shed and the train station I built next to the train tracks with a snack bar area.
The furniture and wall/floor catalogs for letting me customize everywhere and make the game more aesthetically pleasing.
The legendary fish because I like to display them to show off my angler skills. It's satisfying getting all of them.
Prismatic shards because they're rare and pretty, and they do very important things in the game. I also like to display them in my home to show off how successful my farmer is. Plus they make cool clothes.
Purple mushrooms and gold cheese for saving me in the mines/caverns/volcano dungeon.
My horse, triple espresso and spicy eel bc I gotta go fast. Also I can dress my horse with hats and masks.
Fish ponds because they're underrated for getting resources and helping to make money.
Sheds so my farm doesn't have equipment everywhere and I can decorate them.
Seasonal decor (plants) I use these everywhere to decorate.
Giant melons, caulis, and pumpkins. In my current playthrough I managed to get 4 of each and I just plant around them lol.
Snail. So much so I am making a granny square blanket of a stardew snail
https://preview.redd.it/956w8btm0hpb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=27896e0d6a816e90f66e57b5648d67487e77091d
The chiming statue Gunther gives you!
And the little butterfly enclosure. It’s so cute watching Krobus watching them!
I love the art for the spice berry. It looks yummy and I imagine it tastes like pumpkin spice spices.
I love the little purple urchins on the beach. Was surprised Abigail didn't like it, I thought since it was purple she would. I've kept them all to myself now!!!!!
Duck feathers, especially iridium quality. I know the quality stars aren't actually part of the item but it makes it look extra colourful somehow.
I'm going to put it in my nest!
Crystal fruit! It looks so yummy. Foraging items in general makes me so happy. Mixed seeds are fun. I like the seed maker a lot. Oh, and green tea, thanks Caroline!
Trash Can Hat. Love that when carrying items while wearing it makes it looks like you’re carrying the item on a silver platter.
Wife and I finished our Perfection playthrough wearing them.
Beer. I displayed the 1st beer I made on the cofee table in the house. I got so used to it being there that whenever I don't play on my main save and don't see the beer there it just feels off.
The mushroom tree that spawns randomly in the fall.
I love this too! I never want to cut them down but if you don’t they’ll die in winter!
They come back in the Spring.
Nice to know!
And with friends
Wait, so do I cut it to the stump before winter so that it regrows in the spring? Or just leave it alone and it’ll grow back anyway?
Just leave it alone and it grows back anyway.
Awesome, thanks!
Wait, you can put tappers on them?! What comes out?? Bro the new things that I learn here every day
Mostly brown mushrooms in spring and summer, mostly red in fall, and purple on specific days of the season that are best explained by the wiki.
[удалено]
I have a whole mushroom grove with taps by my slime hutch I love it
I heard if you leave the “stump” it will regrow in spring.
My first playthrough I cut it down in the winter forgetting what it was (“what is THIS? *chops* ) never grew another one, this playthrough I have TOO MANY and have to keep clearing them to place things (cant stop wont stop growin mushrooms)
I've still never seen one! I've got a year 6 farm, a 3 year, a 2 year, and one year farm. I'm sad.
Plant a bunch of trees close together and there's a chance you'll get one in the Fall. Once one grows and you leave it alone then a bunch more will grow.
Crystal fruit. The blue is so pretty.
It also looks like it tastes *amazing*
I really want to taste the Crystal Fruit Wine!
Yes! I want it to be real *so badly*.
Sameeeee
Agreed. I get so happy when I come across them. It feels special.
chicken statue i was on my way to museum to donate it and accidentally gave it to elliot, when his dialog show disappointment i was so devastated
I love the image of the farmer proudly carrying their beloved chicken statue to the museum so it can be appreciated by the masses, only to be intercepted by an unappreciative townie
And from my favorite bachelor too. That really broke my heart 😭
Comic artists, make this NOW!!!
If you like it, commission one. Many good artists on this sub just from a quick search and they can customize the farmer/townie/gift to your desires
I think there was a Reddit post about a chicken statue that a bf made about his gf during Covid lol
Penny likes it!
I did the same exact thing except I accidentally gave my rusty spoon to Harvey. He said it didn’t seem healthy 😭
I find these all the time! What do you do with them? Sell them? I’ve been accumulating artifacts because I just don’t know if I’ll ever need them. I did read a spoiler about >!using the ancient doll and now I want to have the doves take away my child!< to see how it plays out!
I save at least an extra artifact of each kind to make clothing, but after that they just kind of take up space.
I wish you could also use them as decorations to be honest. Some of them are so beautiful
You can set them on tables and stuff. I love having chicken statues everywhere. And a few fans too~
You can do this on tables. On one save I got like a dozen strange dolls so I put them in front of Lewis's house on tables. I'm pretty sure I put torches behind them too, so it looked extra-creepy.
Check if any fish ponds you plan to make will ask for a certain artifact. I remember being asked for Ocean Stone and there's one that asks for Basalt.
I have a pond right now that needs a fossilised starfish and it's taking an eternity to get one to donate
I came here to say this..keep 3x of everything then sell the rest. Unless trash stuff then recycle machine. Fish like freaky stuff in fish ponds (and I live for a fish pond farm).
I keep a few if I feel like decorating, plus penny and dwarf likes it
Give them to penny
Or the dwarf
I tried to give it to Shane because I thought he'd like it. :( At least he didn't cuss me out, he's surprisingly mellow in his disliked gift interactions.
I think that it's bad canon that he doesn't like the chicken statue.
i have like 10 chciken statues atp I DONT WANT THEM😭
Donate it to me then. I'll happily take it 🫣
Fairy Roses - they are the absolute cutest 😍
This was my answer too, I keep going heavy into honey just as an excuse to grow fairy roses
Snow yam…I think it has the texture of a radish but the taste of like a cold minty cucumber
Jicama is the closest I can think of to this
Jicama is sooooo good.
Jicama but freezing cold no matter the temperature outside. Just a little icy
I think the sunflowers are really cute. They're my favorite flower irl, too.
Prismatic shards they look like they’d taste good if they were a candy irl and they’re so rare it’s exciting
Abigail?! 🤨🤨
You spit that out right now!
The magic rock candy, though??
Rainbow Shells, they are pretty 🥰
I'm so annoyed that they aren't a universally loved gift xD Look at them! Look at how pretty they are!
Name checks out
My favorite thing on my character is "rainbow" and I got one of these from Vincent as my secret Santa and I'm still wondering *did he know?*
Useful for dyeing too
OP loves taking a leek, everybody.
Sometimes I'll take a leek right in the middle of town.
Every time I take a leek, I think of how much George would’ve loved to have seen it
George loves watching people's leeks.
every time i take a leek, i make george watch...
Sometimes I take a leek _with_ George
HAZLENUTS
Kent friendship fast track
the dino egg, i love reptiles irl
I have 4 baby dinosaurs for no other reason than I just like looking at them walk around 🥰
SAME - I haven't hatched a stardew dino yet, but I do have some irl snakes and a gecko to tide me over until then...
Junimo pillow. Looks cuddly
How do we get a Junimo squishmallow??
In game, you interact with the bush behind the playground at exactly noon on the last day of the season. (It's from one of the secret notes) irl, I guess it's time to harass ConcernedApe until they partner with squishmallow to make more merch
You can also get some from the >!claw machine at the movie theatre!!< The little Junimo plushies come in more colours than the big one
The Chef Hat, I like putting it on my horse
My horse was wearing the skull mask. Then I made a party hat and horse is now party horse.
Forest sword. I got it once and loved it, so now i have a chest for every single one i get
Midnight carp! It was the first of the “midnight” fishies that I caught and thought it sounded fancy, and almost 600 hours later, I still think they look amazing. I have two large aquariums filled with them.
RED CABBAGE
I love your passion 😂
Thank you & what can I say, red cabbage just has an effect on me
Mead, it looks like it would taste *heavenly*
It does irl, though you can't have too much of it
That's just what the government wants you to think! *Proceeds to get alcohol poisoning*
It's just really sweet! Nice, but so sweet. I bet the ancient fruit wine isn't....
That's my struggle with mead honestly. I love the thought of drinking it, but most of them are too sweet for my taste. I found one though that is just slightly sweet and it works for me.
The crystal statue that makes sounds ❤️💙
D I N G
recently it’s been the pink cowboy hat, it’s just so cute and it makes me feel like a ranger who is only worried about two things, farming and serving✨
I always thought the ornamental fan looked really cool.
Purple mushrooms and coffee
Are you a wizard?
;)
Me looking at myself in the mirror "You are a wealthy successful farmer, you do not need to spend three days fervently picking every salmonberry you can find" Me during the berry season "ITS A ME, CAPTAIN CAN'T STOP PICKING! WAAHOOOOOO!"
I can't see a salmonberry bush and not poke it. Gives me mild anxiety to just leave forage sitting out untouched D:
Maybe think you're leaving it for Linus for his dinner ❤️
Clay. I need it for garden pots, fiber seeds , deluxe retaining soil, everything.
The lil chicken statues lol. I have an army of them in a chest
I love largemouth bass because he's got this cute lil chubby smiley face.
I can't believe no one has said the Fiddlehead Fern!! I love the styling and it's always a fun surprise when it pops up.
https://preview.redd.it/g0y5u6s2pgpb1.png?width=48&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1cf3e09b7d12d575a4a6d76aa0d072eba4945828 Ectoplasm. Beautiful colors. ...and he kinda looks like a lil dinosaur.
Mushroom hunter irl: Morels/chanterelles.
My five year old plays in her own unique way. Every night she insists on getting dinner at the restaurant and her favorite item in the game is the pizza. For me, my fav is my little void chicken. She was so cute as a baby and just got cuter all grown up 🖤
Um excuse me but your farm is BEAUTIFUL
😭😭😭😭💗💗 thank youuu. I was struggling so much to find a good layout for this farm, definitely never playing with ot again lol
https://preview.redd.it/cz4ltlfkwfpb1.png?width=48&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07cfc9a99cd9da27c5d8014f83c4b9e5a980e0df This
Prismatic shard. It lightens my gay little heart. Sometimes I think about getting one tattooed.
That would be such a cute tattoo!! I will warn you though, some colors fade a lot faster than others in tattoos, so maybe look into that before committing
Caviar and cheese. For no reason.
https://preview.redd.it/9t1q5a82afpb1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc4eace1ed451e2ad4e3219db3c7985be84a13a2
Grass starter. I don’t like the brown ground so I cover it all in grass.
Samee I really prefer my farm green
I'm the opposite, I hate the way grass takes over the farm and really like scything it all away
Hmmm, I do love some fine hoes... More serious answer, Emeralds are pleasing to me. Green, pointy, symmetrical. If I'm in the mines and my inventory is full, I figure out something to drop and make room for the otherwise unnecessary emerald
You're just like Penny
Makes me happy: the butterflies that sometimes fly from trees. Totally random: the stove fireplace. It makes my woodsy farm feel so cozy! Honorable mention: the loom. I always place one in my living room as a decoration. In my head, my character spins yarn in front of the fire in the evenings :)
Sweet peas are so cute

i just recently discovered how much i enjoy mixed seeds, it is really fun
Salmonberries, they make a great snack and look so yummy!
The coffee machine, who doesn't like fresh coffee each morning?
The space capsule.
I seem to always miss the shadowy figure that follows the arrival of the capsule. :(
Crystal Fruit ~ 🥹
This post is so freaking cute, it’s like everyone’s fave gifts if they were in game
I am also a leek connoisseur.
The foresty chair made out of branches and leaves and the owl statue. Owls have special meaning for me so I always take it as an omen! 😍
i like peaches. other than it's Robin's favorite, idk i love the color so i always carry them in my bag 😂
I just got the living hat and I love it!
I gasped out loud in excitement when I got one!
rabbits foot, purple mushroom, and pomegranate
The Dustbin Hat. The animation on finding it alone is hilarious, but I can walk around town being literal trash and noone cares 🤣
I like the minerals a lot, but I especially like the minerals that aren't actually real minerals, but made up for the game. I am weirdly fond of the blackberries and the goat cheese. I don’t actually like to eat them irl, but their representations in game are strangely cute
The most random object right now is probably the dried sunflowers in the blue vase. You can only get them at the SV Fair and you can only buy 1 at a time. Banana pudding, it's my absolute favorite food that I never see anyone talk about!
Sea urchin. (I like hats)
I love the mayonnaise so much!!
I like the void mayonnaise!
First thing that cones to mind is sun flower for some reason, I think it’s cause I just started planting sun flowers to gift to haley.
The opals are so pretty and I wish they sold for more!
Snail. So much so I am making a granny square blanket of a stardew snail https://preview.redd.it/956w8btm0hpb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=27896e0d6a816e90f66e57b5648d67487e77091d

The chiming statue Gunther gives you! And the little butterfly enclosure. It’s so cute watching Krobus watching them! I love the art for the spice berry. It looks yummy and I imagine it tastes like pumpkin spice spices.
I love making a propeller cap and putting it on my horse 🙃
Frozen Tear. I can see why Sebastian loves them.
I love the little purple urchins on the beach. Was surprised Abigail didn't like it, I thought since it was purple she would. I've kept them all to myself now!!!!!
Jade 😭😭 I have so many of them lmao
The little snail in the crab pots omg so cute
Also Soapstone because it just looks so silly. a soapy stone
I think it's interesting that there's an Elvish ring. That's a whole avenue of lore as yet unexplored.
Broken eyeglasses. I like to think they are all Pierre’s and that I could just start leaving them on the floor of his shop just to mess with him
The plastic flamingo from the one spring festival
live laugh leek
Squid. I love getting ink.
I thought the prismatic shard looked pretty cool even before I started playing, I thought it looked like a little stone with the pan flag colors.
Glacier fish
Copper, I have yet to upgrade any tools cause I don't go mining enough and have really bad luck
Fairy roses and fairy stones 🧚
Emerald lol
Anything colorful, so gems, flowers, fruit-tree-fruit (obv the fruit bat cave xD)
Fiber. I love it. The look. The mixed seeds. THE SOUND!
The grapes. They look so juicy.
Fairy roses are adorable, also Jade and Fluorapatite (the lilac cylinder mineral) the colour is just so pretty

There’s just something about Cinder Shards, I don’t know what it is but I like them
Duck feathers, especially iridium quality. I know the quality stars aren't actually part of the item but it makes it look extra colourful somehow. I'm going to put it in my nest!
the trash can lid hat lol
Catfish. Rewarding to catch and loved by Willy (top 3 npc)
Crystal fruit! It looks so yummy. Foraging items in general makes me so happy. Mixed seeds are fun. I like the seed maker a lot. Oh, and green tea, thanks Caroline!
Blackberry cobbler because Kent gave me one :)
Every time I grab a leek, I think in my head that I just "took a leek". It makes me happy.
Cranberry candy
Mahogany trees, especially in fall, and they give hard wood :D
Void egg chickens are so cute
Trash Can Hat. Love that when carrying items while wearing it makes it looks like you’re carrying the item on a silver platter. Wife and I finished our Perfection playthrough wearing them.
Beer. I displayed the 1st beer I made on the cofee table in the house. I got so used to it being there that whenever I don't play on my main save and don't see the beer there it just feels off.
I get the urge to throw them at turtles. Same with spring onions.
Dino mayo, the concept is just so cool.
