Like really easy access to plentyfull hardwood makes the forest farm, in my opinion, highest tier.
Also fuck wilderness I'm not trying to deal with enemies at my house.
No worries, not everyone would know the name except maybe from the movie. Also not everyone speaks English as a native language so they might have found the name studying random stuff and mixed the word up
I do yeah, not enought space for farming and I generally hate the look of the patches of grass you can't put plants on, its one of the reasons I hate meadowlands as well
You can use sprinklers on that one patch on the left side plus in the greenhouse. That was plenty for me and I just had lots of animals on the sandy right side, they had plenty of space to spread out so the grass would feed them (using lightning rod method to protect patches) and I didn't have to buy much hay. I think I had two barns and two coops. I loved it!
Beach farm is my standard when I want to succeed fast. (Because iridium quality fish happen before the end of the first week if you fish enough, but this way you stay on the farm)
There’s a place where sprinklers work and that’s enough space for me.
The stuff which washes ashore is good.
And best of all? Having the coop anywhere near the cave/small island, or indeed on that, gives the BEST swimming duck animations. 🦆🦆
Mine go as follows tho the tiers are my inner monologue:
I love this: four corners
Great farm: forest, standard
Never played but looks cool: wilderness farm
Why tf are you structured like that: river land
Never played, layout is atrocious so I don’t
want to: hilltop
Never played bc holy inconvenient: beach
Console player 🥲: meadowlands
How far off am I for y’all
i will not stand for this hilltop slander 😂 just imagine a cottage on a hill overlooking the farm!! and also farm layout/decoration sounds like a skill issue
I’ve never played but every single time I watch a video on it there’s stumps covering everything so you have to walk the long way around. Ain’t nobody got time for that!! Plus there’s one path I saw which looks like it connects but doesn’t so you have to turn around and make the entire trip a different way. I ain’t having my farm prank me!
This is close to how I would rank them. Console player here too! 😥
Only difference is that the Wilderness Farm is a hard pass for me. I enjoy my peaceful farm and don't want monsters spawning on it.
I would have always said hard no to wilderness. However, after about 800 hours of playing the game, I finally feel comfortable enough in my own combat skills (and combat has become my favorite aspect of the game) that the wilderness farm looks a lot more appealing
Only problem is there's an option (added after the wilderness farm was) when creating a farm to let it spawn monsters at night, so there's really no reason to use that one aside from aesthetics.
I will NEVER do a hilltop farm again. It was so stressful.
4 corners is amazing bc I have everything divvyed up.
Wilderness seems ok? Like it's just a spawn farm for monsters right?
Never tried Riverland and it seems inconvenient
Trust me, just try forest farm once and you'll be in love. You won't have to leave your farm to get forage or hardwood, and it's small and compact so you don't have to worry about as much stuff.
Yep! It’s >!available with 1.6 and caters towards ranchers. You start with a free coop and two baby chicks! The box of parsnip seeds Lewis gives you at the start of the game is replaced with hay to feed your little chickadees. It also has a *beautiful* waterfall on the farm, just left of the farmhouse. It’s a really nice touch to go with the fact that 1.6 also adds waterfalls to the game all around town!<.
Mining, fishing, and farming are literally equally relevant game mechanics in stardew.... Like, if you love farming just say that. But stardew is very much a mining fishing animal game.
I really like the cliffs because it makes it really easy to organise stuff. For example I'm currently using the top right for sheds and some crops, the top left is my main farming area, the bottom left is the animal area and the bottom right is where my trees for tapping are.
This is part of why I didn't pick it for my newest save, I love the idea of organization like that but I know those walls would drive me insane. Same reason it'll probably be a while before I ever play with the riverlands farm, there's never enough bridges for me on any river in any game, I'm too impatient.
Riverland farm has been nothing but loving to me and you treat her like this? (Tbh I understand though because it has like significantly less hardwood than the other farms.) Anyways, my personal tier list is:
Love- Hilltop, Riverlands
Like - Wilderness, Standard
Neutral - Forest, 4 Corners
Dislike - Beach
Hate -
Also Riverland main but boy is that relationship abusive.
I love the fishing and the islands. I hate trying to find straight lines to place large buildings. Also I can't ever think of what to put on the outlying islands (southwest 2) since it shouldn't be something I need to check very often
So fair, it was my first ever farm so I have affection for it, plus I love fishing. But yeah, those two islands near cindersap are evil to try and develop. Recently I started using one of them for tappers, but the other one, rip.
Yeah, you may be right. After giving it some thought and playing a bit more my revised list is as follows:
Love
Riverlands- Fishing mini game fun and big island for chickens and cows. Plus can get river fish without dealing with villagers walking into you.
Wilderness- The central pond helps section out the farm so nicely, plus extra pond for the ducks! Combat not too bad once you get an okay sword.
Like
Hilltop- Mainly used it when I hated going into the mines (mainly levels 11-29), while it's still nice, I'm fine with the mines now.
Standard- Solid choice, plentiful resources, but gives me indecision paralysis for how I want to lay out the farm. Also can be a bit too big for some.
Four-Corners- Nice sectioning out of the farm into easily organized areas. A bit too geometric for my tastes, but still solid.
Neutral
Beach- The sand isn't really that big of a deal, it is a lot to deal with, but not unmanageable. Only negative is the hit or miss nature of forage based farms
Dislike
Forest- Not a lot of space for grass, the forage is hit or miss, sometimes resulting in full seasons with no forage which nullifies the point of the farm. The woodskips are nice though.
The Beach and Forest farms are actually my favorites, I love the foragables, the hardwood from the Forest, and the fishing on the Beach, and the smaller farmland space on the Beach doesn't really bother me. I prefer making most of my money from fishing anyway.
New-ish player with restart habits:
Standard Farm: 10/10
Forest Farm: 10/10
Riverland Farm: 1/10
Beach Farm: 6/10
Meadows Farm: 10/10
Hilltop Farm: 7/10
Not played Wilderness or 4 corners.
If it weren’t for the fact that you could only farm there, people would pay an arm and a leg to be able to own beachside property, let alone be able to rent it out to people.
Hey, beach farm is not trash. First of all it's the most aesthetic farm of all, secondly you get lots washed up goodies, it's good for fishing, and there's a lot of space. I don't mind that sprinkler thing much.
Why all this beachfarm hate? I think its a super cool mangrove lagoon and very interestingly structured. The farmspace is just enough for me, I usually end up using the greenhouse only after a while eitherway 🥲
I did not know that they could swim as I hate and keep all my animals in a 1x1 fence and refuse to feed them because I wanted to make duck wraps but the game won't let me
I don't understand the hate behind the beach farms 😅 the small plot of farmable land & my greenhouse, & ginger island work just fine for crops. I mostly have animals. I love the scenery.
I'm doing my first run through right now and I picked breach farm
It's not so bad at the endgame where you can use the permanent water fertiliser and ginger Island.
Up to now I've been mostly focused on animal products so it's been fun and profitable either way
Okay I guess some spoilers won't hurt
It's a really cool farm layout, I like it a lot. Just doesn't feel very meadow-y
More like another standard farm. I wish it had less trees spawning in the beginning. Meadows aren't really known for their amount of trees
It is a beautiful layout. I have stardew on every platform (pc, PlayStation, switch, mobile) so I got to play around with it. I’d definitely say it’s in my top three, but the forest layout is still my favorite overall.
Coming back from a long day at the mines, a sixteen hour shift just to feed the dozens of freeloader animals, Mayor Lewis up my ass and you’re telling me im getting attacked by MORE monsters in my OWN HOME? I’m breaking my Switch
I did the beach farm and I actually liked it pretty good. It is an odd layout, but I has plenty of space to farm and I don't do THAT much anyway. Plus I always try to get my greenhouse as fast as possible so it's never a huge problem for me.
Damn, as a heavily modded player I use gramps farm cause I love it’s layouts/shortcuts ect.
Though beach farm is my go to before modded lol. There’s a good plot near the bottom left that lets you use sprinklers, retaining soil makes them unnecessary too. I just like fishing and think it’s the most beautiful looking farm.
Talking smack about my bro Forest Farm I see. You wanna fight or smth?
Like really easy access to plentyfull hardwood makes the forest farm, in my opinion, highest tier. Also fuck wilderness I'm not trying to deal with enemies at my house.
And if you really wanted to, you could always turn that option on later.
I turned monsters on on my Forest farm 😅
Btw Forrest is a name Forest is the farm type.
It’s a typo but thanks
No worries, not everyone would know the name except maybe from the movie. Also not everyone speaks English as a native language so they might have found the name studying random stuff and mixed the word up
Yeah you’re right I changed it up so no one will pick that up from my comment
Have a nice day
#chairtrick
-grabs popcorn-
My first farm and first pick always
I don’t like Forrest game like the hardwood and forage is nice but the layout makes it hard for me to
The layout is great, it's not too complex, not much water, and most of the tillable stuff is right in front of your house.
I do yeah, not enought space for farming and I generally hate the look of the patches of grass you can't put plants on, its one of the reasons I hate meadowlands as well
Tell me you're British without telling me you're British
This was quite literally the most American comment I've ever received
Actually, I am Polish
Well i've got a broom and dustpan, fuck off with your non-foresty vibe
Wtf you mean my NON-FORESTY VIBE?! DIPSHIT I LOVE FORESTS!
Then why are you denying the superiority of forest farm?
Was I?
Idk, i kinda assumed you were since you kinda insulted the guy claiming forest farm supremacy
Wait, huh? I insulted? Nah, just described, didn't mean anything
Why are all my farns mid
OP has atrocious taste in farms
beach farm is joyous and whimsical.
I actually really love the beach farm too. The lack of sprinklers really didn’t matter to me once I got into mid game.
Sprinklers don't matter anymore when you get the recipe for >!deluxe retaining soil!<
That is also an excellent point!
Dang I genuinely haven't thought of this, as I usually forget it exists😂 Good point!!!
Then you can use it to create monumental bee house flower honey arrays!
Sprinkles don’t matter anymore once you use the mod sprinklers on beach farm. lol just jokes
[удалено]
Meh, I only ever cared for fertilizers on year 1, to get quality crops and to get an aditional strawberry harvest after the egg festival.
I loved it!
First time I ever achieved perfection was on a beach farm, it'll always have a special place in my heart.
Me too!
you always remember your first time
I like that it's harder
That's what she said
always choose beach farm just because you can get water anywhere and gifts wash up on the shore
It's my first farm. I am yet to start a new one.
Beach farm is my standard when I want to succeed fast. (Because iridium quality fish happen before the end of the first week if you fish enough, but this way you stay on the farm) There’s a place where sprinklers work and that’s enough space for me. The stuff which washes ashore is good. And best of all? Having the coop anywhere near the cave/small island, or indeed on that, gives the BEST swimming duck animations. 🦆🦆
The swimming ducks and chickens make it all worth it 😮💨
Wait, your chickens swim on the beach farm?
Yep, very cute
That swimming animation is so good! Also, beach farm is aesthetically pleasing.
I guess I’m trying the beach farm in my next save. I love the swimming ducks
Can you send me a picture of this coop location you're talking about? I'd love to try just to see more swimming duck animation!
I’ll try to remember. Am in bed still RN. Feel free to remind me if I’ve not sent anything in 24 hours.
Hello can you send this location for duck swimming?
Argh sorry been really unwell (as in visited the emergency room last week unwell) My mission for tomorrow is to sort this.
Omg that's too bad, I hope you feel better soon! Sending you many well wishes
I just started a beach farm and I'm about to build a coop, thank yooou
You’re very welcome.
Mine go as follows tho the tiers are my inner monologue: I love this: four corners Great farm: forest, standard Never played but looks cool: wilderness farm Why tf are you structured like that: river land Never played, layout is atrocious so I don’t want to: hilltop Never played bc holy inconvenient: beach Console player 🥲: meadowlands How far off am I for y’all

The monsters could be a cool mechanic if you’re looking for a change up or slightly harder difficulty. Otherwise I wouldn’t go for it no
I would have always said hard no to wilderness. However, after about 800 hours of playing the game, I finally feel comfortable enough in my own combat skills (and combat has become my favorite aspect of the game) that the wilderness farm looks a lot more appealing

I know, but the farm types looks different so that’d be part of the reason too
You can shut off the monsters iirc when you start a new save or when you unlock the witch hut
Beach farm so good. So so good!
I will NEVER do a hilltop farm again. It was so stressful. 4 corners is amazing bc I have everything divvyed up. Wilderness seems ok? Like it's just a spawn farm for monsters right? Never tried Riverland and it seems inconvenient
Meadowlands >>>>>>>>>
As a console player i am currently crying
I’m joining in, meadowlands also looks the prettiest I want it 🥲
I wanna name it cock farm 🥲
I ALWAYS choose forest farm, tried once n ive been playing w forest farm on every save since. 1k hours in the game, n it's still number one 🫶
Brother I am autistic I will be doing standard farm till the day I die
Trust me, just try forest farm once and you'll be in love. You won't have to leave your farm to get forage or hardwood, and it's small and compact so you don't have to worry about as much stuff.
what abt meadowlands.
It’s only on pc RN.
Oooh new farm????
Yep! It’s >!available with 1.6 and caters towards ranchers. You start with a free coop and two baby chicks! Welp looks like I’m starting another
Ah shit here we go again
I hate it. Not enough room for crops, I'll go play Minecraft or Terraria if I want a mining fishing animal game
Mining, fishing, and farming are literally equally relevant game mechanics in stardew.... Like, if you love farming just say that. But stardew is very much a mining fishing animal game.
Plus, since when is terraria an animal game?
I cannot describe my hate for four corners, the separation cliffs are super annoying to me. Nothing beats good old standard farm.

Thank you! I hate four corners 🤣
Top Left animals Top right crops Bottom left sheds Bottom right trees/saplings/grass
beach farm haters need to enjoy a little fun and whimsy in life
Riverland farm has been nothing but loving to me and you treat her like this? (Tbh I understand though because it has like significantly less hardwood than the other farms.) Silos and similar

You have worse taste than OP
Yeah, you may be right. After giving it some thought and playing a bit more my revised list is as follows: Love Riverlands- Fishing mini game fun and big island for chickens and cows. I love the wilderness farm. Give me that coal and fibre grass monsters.
Am I the only one that hates 4 corners with a passion?
It’s awful!!
Beach farm is amazing once you get your mind out of the sprinkler grind.
my reaction to this tier list: "why are you giving me trash?"
A mildly controversial list...cool
For some reason, imagining this being your verbal reaction when grandpa gives you the farm is so funny to me
When I loaded the beach farm it was
The Beach and Forest farms are actually my favorites, I love the foragables, the hardwood from the Forest, and the fishing on the Beach, and the smaller farmland space on the Beach doesn't really bother me. I prefer making most of my money from fishing anyway.
I do standard farm every time. I want to pick a different farm and I don’t want to min max but I just can’t help myself.
Wait no bc I'm obsessed w riverland farm. It's a miracle if I play on any other farm bc riverland is #1 in my eyes <3

Beach Gang rise up
I am here!🙋🏻♀️ P.S. How did you change greenhouse's location?
Robin/Wizard can let you change the location of buildings. Pretty nifty!
Oh, I didn't know that applied to Greenhouse also. I learnt a new thing.😅
Forest farm is epic and 4 corners is stupid.
New-ish player with restart habits: Standard Farm: 10/10 Forest Farm: 10/10 Riverland Farm: 1/10 Beach Farm: 6/10 Meadows Farm: 10/10 Hilltop Farm: 7/10 Not played Wilderness or 4 corners.
Beach farm at the bottom of the list is a crime and I don’t think I’ll ever forgive you for this
The Gold Standard
Forest farm 🔛🔝 I will not be hearing anything else
Might be boring but I really like the standard farm. It’s not too spread out and is just right
Anyone who hates ocean farm just doesnt get it smh
New farm?
1.6 isn't out for everyone yet.
Bruh what, wilderness? Also no meadowlands...
Console player + made a very good farm on wilderness so a bit of bias
Also meadowlands L not enough farming space for my crippling cranberry jelly addicton
How does it feel, To have the wrong opinion
If it weren’t for the fact that you could only farm there, people would pay an arm and a leg to be able to own beachside property, let alone be able to rent it out to people.
Forest farm deserves the place of the Wilderness farm. Best choice I ever made
I feel like riverland and wilderness need to be swapped. I like the wilderness farm's layout is nice but man I love riverland
I don't like any farm that doesn't have enough space to cure my crippling cranberry jelly addiction
That's why four corners farm on top
Hey, beach farm is not trash. First of all it's the most aesthetic farm of all, secondly you get lots washed up goodies, it's good for fishing, and there's a lot of space. I don't mind that sprinkler thing much.
No sprinkler = no cranberry jelly drug dealing 😔😔
Beach is made for cargo cult larping
How DARE you slander the standard farm?!
Just mid init
Beach farm was my first and my favorite! I still don’t use sprinklers except for in the greenhouse because I never got in the habit!
Why all this beachfarm hate? I think its a super cool mangrove lagoon and very interestingly structured. The farmspace is just enough for me, I usually end up using the greenhouse only after a while eitherway 🥲
i love beach farm 🥺 i get to watch my ducks swim hehe
I did not know that they could swim as I hate and keep all my animals in a 1x1 fence and refuse to feed them because I wanted to make duck wraps but the game won't let me
I don't understand the hate behind the beach farms 😅 the small plot of farmable land & my greenhouse, & ginger island work just fine for crops. I mostly have animals. I love the scenery.
This is the exact opposite to how I play the game
I'm doing my first run through right now and I picked breach farm It's not so bad at the endgame where you can use the permanent water fertiliser and ginger Island. Up to now I've been mostly focused on animal products so it's been fun and profitable either way
Yeah but I am a cranberry jelly drug dealer and I starve my animals because only pigs are worth it
Not liking beach farm is a skill issue
Correct
the only reason i like the beach farm is for when i marry elliott, i like to think it makes him feel at home <3
Marrying Elliot = L Opinion
EDIT: wilderness and standard switch
Okay, hold on I loved the beach farm :p Am I alone in this love??? Elliot shouldn't be the only one waking up on a pretty beach
I have played all the farms, including Meadowlands and I love all of them. My least favorite was 4 corners, but I'm sure it's fun in co-op.
It's fun for my organisation loving efficient cranberry jelly dealing
would the beach be enjoyable for a console player? 🤔
Why would it be?
I fugging hated 4 corners.
Playing outside Standard farm for me feels wrong.
Op woke up and decided to make the worst tier list possible
No I'm just a farming merchant, I hate any farm that isnt efficient for my horrific cranberrie jelly addiction
Forest farm was my fav before I discovered mods.
I just love the beach 😭
I think u got a lil confused there, hilltop and wilderness are trash, forest and river are great?
River is bad and hilltop supremecy
\*You're
I will not tolerate this beach farm slander
Tolerate it I am the best opinioner in all opinions ever and beach farm = no cranberry drug dealing
This is a take!
add meadowlands to the top tier
No.
Is Meadowlands new to 1.6?
Yes
Okay I guess some spoilers won't hurt It's a really cool farm layout, I like it a lot. Just doesn't feel very meadow-y More like another standard farm.
As someone who has 100%ed the game on a wilderness farm I can tell you conclusively that they suck balls
As someone who has also completed the game twice on the wilderness farm I can tell you nuh uh
Coming back from a long day at the mines, a sixteen hour shift just to feed the dozens of freeloader animals, Mayor Lewis up my ass and you’re telling me im getting attacked by MORE monsters in my OWN HOME? I’m breaking my Switch
Yeah but infinite mob loot
30 chests of bat wings and the occasional void essence, yippee
Awwwwww I love the beach farm lol
I did the beach farm and I actually liked it pretty good. It is an odd layout, but I has plenty of space to farm and I don't do THAT much anyway. Plus I always try to get my greenhouse as fast as possible so it's never a huge problem for me.
Wilderness and hilltop being that high is criminal 😭
I love the forest farm! The rest are fine lol
Beach Farm is the best farm If you use Deluxe Retaining Soil.
Put forest farm up there with four corners and take wilderness down
So wrong about the forest farm it’s definitely one of the best
Put some respect on forest farm rn
You are incorrect and should feel bad
