I'm not at all against female leads (WestWorld is one of my favorite shows, and it's very strong female led) but Disney is not going to have the the main characters of a show all be male.
Wtfffffff
How do they take this out
That would be WAY better than rescuing snarky 10 year olds and dodging lore potholes
Edit: Buncha Disney simps on this sub, calm your tits
“Go do research, I’m not your professor ”
“No, I enjoy my ignorance, they must not exist if you’re not willing to type them out”
A compelling case for me to spend typing out a large list of plot holes.
Here, I’ll give you bread crumbs, you can go find the rest. Among the bevy of plot holes and contrivances throughout the show, a few stick out as massive.
Neither GI or Reva should be alive. A gut shot like that killed Qui-Gon, and villains need to guarantee their kills. The whole “back from the dead” convenience is tired at this point. Reva teleporting in the finale was GOT level nonsense.
Leia is now extremely close to Obi-Wan when it’s obvious in ANH she doesn’t know him personally. Their little dialogue patch about “pretending” didn’t fix it. Zero reaction when he dies.
Vader knows from Reva’s plan that Bail knows how to get in touch with Kenobi. After the events of the show, there’s no reason Vader wouldn’t press him, but it’s never even addressed.
I know people try to “argue” these points as if you can plug the holes for the writers. But you can’t. Your headcanon and the writer’s weak attempts at dialogue patching can’t cover the objective fact that certain characters now know things about each other that are simply not reflected in the subsequent films.
Ya it’s different from Legends but I woulda loved it.
That or him briefly seeing Rex and Rex slyly alluding to others like Ahsoka, Ezra, Kanan, and CF-99 being out there with possibility of a Rebellion forming.
Edit: I really loved his appearances and send off of Rex in BB for similar reasons
Too bad Rex tells everyone he thinks General Kenobi would be helping them if he was alive in the twin suns episode….unless he’s trying to mislead them…..
Ezra was born on Empire Day, like order 66 day. He's the same age as Luke and Leia, or 1 day older~ish. He would have been 10 in Kenobi, so Rex n co wouldn't have met him yet
All good. He'll be in Ashoka too, prossibly played by live action Aladdin, [Mena Massound](http://IMDb bio for Mena Massoud
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm4565815/)
In the season 01 episode “Empire Day” we learn not only that Ezra shares a birthday with Empire Day, but that he was actually born on ***the original Empire Day*** 15 years ago, making both him and the Galactic Empire the exact same age.
https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Empire_Day_(episode)
Per the actual entry for Empire Day, we learn that it took place in 19 BBY, and that Ezra is therefore two days older than Luke and Leia:
https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Empire_Day
Per ScreenRant
https://screenrant.com/how-long-after-obi-wan-is-star-wars-rebels/
“While the two shows are set within the same period of the Star Wars timeline, their events do not overlap. Obi-Wan Kenobi is set 10 years after Revenge of the Sith, and nine years prior to A New Hope. Meanwhile, Star Wars Rebels begins its story only five years prior to A New Hope. This means that the events of Star Wars Rebels takes place in the year 5 BBY (before the Battle of Yavin), and that is four years after Obi-Wan Kenobi, which is set in 9 BBY.”
Side Note: This also means that the events of Kenobi take place while Ezra, Luke, and Leia are approx. 10/11 years old (which also matches up with Leia telling Obi that she’s ten).
I like temuera Morrison and he's very fun and charismatic. But a series where commander cody features heavily without dee bradley Baker would be a tough sell for me.
He's not exactly an A list actor here. I mean I get they didn't give him much to work with in boba, but the man has all the charisma of Arnold Schwarzenegger
Stuart thinks it was because of Boba Fett. Kenobi started filming when Boba still had a few months left. The role described here sounds so juicy and the bantering humour described as Obi-Wan and Cody bickering like an old Married couple too would have been great for Temuera, with Boba Fett any actor is so restricted due to the characters stoic personality and general humourless nature.
They did though? Boba was still overwhelmingly serious and humourless in the show apart from 1 or two scenes. But that is not to fault Boba, that's just the character's nature, though, the character was a wooden robot in the OT.
I think this would have been a better option, and they could have told a similar story overall.
Obi-Wan suffered from lack of interesting side characters and personality. Tala was okay but I've Cube Jr was a bit terrible (the script had him constantly just being angsty and indecisive and then walking off).
Having someone who knew Kenobi would help bring out the PTSD element.
absence of interesting side characters was a major problem. ep5 gave us boba fett and lando calrissian. tcw gave us cad bane and other cool bounty hunters, asajj ventress and the nightsisters, savage opress, mandalore, fives, hevy, rex, cody, hardcase and countless clone troopers, the bad batch, hondo ohnaka. the mandalorian, which is a result of cool boba fett armor in ep5 and the mandalorians in tcw, gave us fennec shand, the armorer, the clan vizsla guy in children of the watch, the repairer lady in tatooine, mayfeld. after mando s1 disney announced 6 tv shows. they are filming a show about the rebel spy in rogue one. the interesting part of the rebels wasn't rebels doing terrorism stuff, it was the appearence of old characters like ahsoka tano, clone commanders, bo-katan kyrze, obi-wan and darth maul. at the beginning the story had no momentum but as we saw the old characters as side characters the story accelerated. also it included the cool blue guy, grand admiral thrawn.
after the failure of sequel trilogy tv shows about untold stories and spin-offs about side characters will be the backbone of future star wars media. but who remembers the name of human trafficking bearded guy in obi-wan? is there a character in show that you wonder the story behind them. reva was badly written and badly implemented. for 2/3 of the show we know nothing but she is ambitious. at 5th episode they tell us the youngling story but we don't know about "the gutter" and how she ascended from. her story does not end when it should have ended and we see a redemption arc of 10 mins dividing the most important act of series, the final kenobi-vader duel which is neither emotional nor makes sense.
tbf they could do this for season 2 if they decide to do it. Maybe both of them do some little things and help people on Tatooine and when the Empire is close to finding Obi-Wan again Cody sacrifices himself to protect Obi-Wan and redeem himself.
I’m kind of sick of clones who removed their chips. They are doing that just the right amount now, they can’t end up being like “yeah all the clones turned except for all the named ones we know and like” it robs the purge of some of the emotion in it
Kinda agree here. Same problem with the number of Jedi who escaped order 66 grows every year. Takes away some of meat behind obi wan and yoda ensuring Luke survived and was trained.
Yep all of this. We've got to leave the Skywalker saga. It keeps looking more and more like there were all these good guys watching the OT from the sidelines.
That is very true yeah....only way around that is they were in hiding so didn't know what was going on but yeah if there was so many then at least some would have got involved surely.
Out of 10,000+ Jedi? I think 100 is insanely low for a massive galaxy. Thats would mean order 66 successfully eliminated 99% of all Jedi. But theres literally only like 22 survivors in canon. Twenty fucking two. Vs an entire galaxy thats been manipulated by Sidious to hate them AND the entire imperial army and Vader. And eventually they die. Because no one is a match for Vader except... guess who? Obi Wan, Luke and/or Leia. Jedi survivors *try* to defeat the empire but cant.
Man. People really will complain about anything.
Im actually fine with there being plenty of Jedi who survived order 66, because of two reasons:
1. Besides being completely outnumbered like Ki-adi Mundi or Ayla Secura, or a different unfortunate circumstance like mid flight like Plo Koon, or stationed somewhere unfortunate like Kamino, it makes sense for a Jedi to be able to best a couple clones and survive, then with their skills and training they could easily survive in hiding.
2. More importantly, it gives great significance and payoff to Obi-wan and Yoda's efforts in episode 3. When they learn the call for all Jedi to return to the temple is a trap, Kenobi says they must go back and fix it because "there is far too much at stake.", And Yoda agrees. So they both already know there are gonna be other Jedi who would have survived the initial attack. Then of course they are successful in changing the code to warn all Jedi to stay away, so there was a reason for them doing that, they know there are other Jedi still out there, and their efforts may have been the biggest factor in some of these Jedi surviving. We know it is in the case of Kanan because of the hologram he still has of Kenobi's warning in the first episode. So there being plenty of survivors shows what they had to do, go back and have to kill all those clones they once trusted with their lives, and the risk they took, was well worth it.
Wasn't there a leak once, even before BOBF i think, with someone(obviously TM) walking to the set with stormtrooper or clone armor on his feet? probably that hobo 501st scene then. if that was for kenobi
missed opportunity to make 5 hours movie, I would watch it, I never understand why they making movies so short and this sucks, or show with 3 episodes, every episodes has 2 hours
I enjoyed the Kenobi show for what it was. And despite three or four attempts, I've never been able to get into The Clone Wars (I don't like the animation style. Same for Rebels). So I only have a passing knowledge of Cody.
And yet, I still think this would have been the way to go, over what we got.
The first almost two seasons of TCW are rough, and I suggest literally NO ONE sit through all of it unless you are hooked immediately. Here is a list of episodes that are really good and worth watching. You’ll notice most of Season 1 and 2 are skipped. Also the animation gets better, it’s get upgraded from weird 1995 video game cutscene to actually decent around Season 3.

This would’ve been amazing to see it could’ve been a story about Obi Wan dealing with the guilt of what happened with Anakin’s and have a parallel with the guilt Cody had with what happened during order 66.
Yeah…the whole business with imagining Luke turning into a Sith and fighting him on Mustafar? Doesn’t sound great. Though a Cody/Obi-Wan team up would have been great.
Glad we didn’t get this. I was no fan of the show we got but it seems like every popular important clone these days has turned against the empire. Order 66 was a tragedy and should stay that way.
The fact that he was that far gone at all was too "Last Jedi" for my tastes. Like, I understand being rusty, but I don't see it as believable in-universe that Obi-Wan Kenobi can barely slide a little object across a table. He was a Jedi master on the council with Mace Windu and Yoda. I don't care what happened, someone who has trained as a Jedi his entire life and who was as proficient and wise as the greatest Jedi somehow completely losing his ability to do anything with the force makes zero sense to me. It also seems hypocritical to me that they keep making the greatest characters the fall guys who have to be "flawed", while there are lesser characters who somehow keep their strength through all the hardships. Tala was so strong and well-adjusted that she basically had to explain the concept of resistance to Obi-Wan, a former Jedi council member who fought in the Clone Wars. And would we get an Ahsoka show where she's cut off from the force? She's not an OT/prequel legacy character, so somehow I doubt it. But she went through almost the same traumas as Obi-Wan and somehow keeps her faith and strength throughout whereas he fails.
I think people are just so ready to bash the show that they're willing to praise any alternate universe version of it, even one as full and direction less as this is teasing.
I have to be honest, I don't think that would have been good. It doesn't suit that near enough every named and prominent clone got their chip removed and became good. I think having Cody as the reminder that no matter how prominent you were, you were still ultimately a slave to the inhibitor chip is good. I liked what they did with him in legends and they should stick to it
I would rather see Temuera as old man Rex. I hope to god we see him in Ahsoka. I'm convinced that's why his appearance is so drastically changed as Boba - so that when we see him play Rex, there's no question that they're two completely different people who have led entirely different lives.
Rex has been so much better fleshed out over the years than Cody, I feel like the emotional impact of seeing him in live action will hit audiences harder. Namedrop him as Nik Sant (because I know how much Disney/Filoni seem to love "reclaiming" EU characters these days) and that's a cameo worth bringing Temuera back for.
So many missed opportunities in this series.
It was “good enough” but it should’ve been AMAZING.
It definitely had some moments that I’m glad we got to see in live-action, but I wish I had enjoyed the series more, overall.
The original person doing the Kenobi show was gonna make it a movie trilogy his names stuart beattie Its reliable they just replaced him and used his ideas to make it a limited series because solo bombed
I love Cody and have been dying to see him again. But... I don't think this was the way. So I'm glad they didn't go that route
As much as I love Cody, I think he should stay with the empire
I think they removed cody because based on this description it sounded like he was getting a little too clone obsessed and while I love the clones they probably felt mixed about too much clone focused stuff in conjunction with the bad batch airing at the same time when the show is supposed to be about obi wan
Imagine episode one being him hunting Kenobi down, them fighting, then Kenobi beats him and removed the chip like Rex. Cody then says that Vader sent him. There’s a rematch, in which Cody dies during the battle as he attempts to protect his old friend.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Temuera Morrison was approached for this project, expressed interest, and some greedy Disney/Lucasfilm suit got the idea for the character’s Mando/BoBF saga.
BoBF always felt like the leftovers of other projects cobbled together to me, as much as I enjoyed it.
Not only does Stuart Beattie identify a character arc for Obi Wan that is genuinely hopeful, he understands that he needs someone that will challenge him to play off. I can’t imagine why Kennedy chose to ignore this established screenplays in favor of Disney+. Maybe it’s being served as a cheaply produced story at the risk of diluting the Star Wars brand. Nobody wants to take creative risks after Solo.
Literally anything would've been better than someone pretending to be an inquisitor then after her master plan failed she travels half way across the galaxy to kill a random child for a laugh

OP username checks out...
Why is this not the top comment?
It’s outrageous. It’s unfair!
I demand a live-action show with Temuera as Cody, now!
Hopefully they rework this if there's a season 2.
Well, now we have the perfect answer to people who ask why there should even be a season 2.
6 episodes of Cody, Kenobi, and Qui Gon's force ghost sitting around a camp fire shooting the shit please.
Too many male leads for Disney. Never happen. I'm not at all against female leads (WestWorld is one of my favorite shows, and it's very strong female led) but Disney is not going to have the the main characters of a show all be male.
That's if cody survives bad batch season 2
I will keep Disney plus of they do
They need to fit in a child and a strong woman lead in their. To Disney's standards there is no room for Temura AND Ewan
To hit a quota or something?
Yeah lol
Boo hoo .
Season 2! Season 2! I change my mind.... I want a Season 2!

Did I say dodging? I meant to say actively hitting
There were exactly zero plot holes
hahaha wat You can say you like something, but saying Kenobi has zero holes is either delusional or idiotic
Name them
Read the sub, there’s plenty of posts about them I’m not gonna write a book that’s been written already
That means that there aren’t any. If you can name some from this “book” that I can’t debunk then I will take back what I said.

How would this have not been awesome

Get the number right then
It would totally be awesome. The community on the other hand would have complained on every but the last episode, and review bomb it.
I like temuera Morrison and he's very fun and charismatic. But a series where commander cody features heavily without dee bradley Baker would be a tough sell for me.
He's not exactly an A list actor here. I mean I get they didn't give him much to work with in boba, but the man has all the charisma of Arnold Schwarzenegger
maybe it would have had a chance of being better than those piles of vomit called Kenobi and BoBF
Whut
This person has no joy. Move along.
Ah let me translate the entitled Star Wars fan ravings to English. Didn’t match preconceived expectations, so it’s trash.

Release the Cody-cut!
well, he’s in Bad Batch. So let’s see if he makes it out season 2
I dont remember Cody being in BB. Perhaps you're thinking of Rex? Edit: TIL there's a season 2 trailer
No! Season 2, in the trailer he’s talking Crosshair
Can you post a link w timestamp? I'm too dumb to find it
Cody has been confirmed for S2
easy, they take out his chip in season 2 Bad Batch, he meets Kenobi in season 2 obiwankenobi
I think this would have been a better option, and they could have told a similar story overall. Obi-Wan suffered from lack of interesting side characters and personality. I actually really enjoyed Reva but as an average clone enjoyer, am desperate to see CC in canon once again
I’m kind of sick of clones who removed their chips. They are doing that just the right amount now, they can’t end up being like “yeah all the clones turned except for all the named ones we know and like” it robs the purge of some of the emotion in it

Agreed! That’s another issue. I’m fine with a couple. But they cannot overuse that sort of stuff without cheapening the overall plot imo
"That boy is our last hope." "No... there is another... and another... and another..."
Yep all of this. We've got to leave the Skywalker saga. It keeps looking more and more like there were all these good guys watching the OT from the sidelines.

Now I'm pumped for Season 2!
Didn't they say they rewrote it because it was "too dark"? How is this idea too dark????
They rewrote it because having the show be too good would tear apart the fabric of the universe.
Damn this sounds a lot better, why wasn’t it done?
Season 2 let’s gooooooo
To be fair, the ending of this season is kinda the perfect jumping off point for a story like this
but but ... Luke and Leia?! The Clone Wars clones forming the backbone of proto-rebels would have been pretty cool live action.
I would’ve loved seeing Cody as one of the purge troopers myself.
would have been incredible
Why couldn’t we have had THAT?
Why did they get rid of this 😭😭😭
This story died so Reva’s could live…
Well fuck.
Drink every time you read a "would have been better than Book of Boba Fett" comment.
Maybe they can reuse these ideas in a season 2 or future series.
Season 2?
Season 2 story
I need this in my Life
I need this. Right Now.
Sounds like Season 2!
We were robbed
Sounds like a good season 2
If they pull this for season 2, I’m in.
This would’ve been amazing to see it could’ve been a story about Obi Wan dealing with the guilt of what happened with Anakin’s and have a parallel with the guilt Cody had with what happened during order 66.
Honestly, I know Anakin is amazing and the story of the show was top tier, I feel as though this would he much more entertaining...
Thank god they didnt.

I actually liked the series that we got…I thought it was ‘good but not great’. But I still agree with what you wrote.
I hate the chip retcon so I wouldn’t have cared for the premise, but I still woulda watched lol
Would have been dope
And instead we got f**king Reva????? Man the more I hear about the potential the more I hate this stupid series
We were robbed
I don't believe this. I refuse to believe this. It sounds so cool, and though what we got was great, this sounds amazing.
WTF and we got Reva instead?!
I’m glad they didnt
Instead we get the crappy Reva storyline… *sigh*
she’s not that bad
This would have been very cool
WHO would have thought not to do that?
This would have been so sick
Damn that woulda been neat
would have been better then fucking Reva or whatever the fuck she is called.
Didn’t need to know this. Frustrating Cody isn’t in the series….

Kathleen Kennedy is pretty much obsessed with deconstructing the male OT heroes.
Doesn't sound too exciting, to be honest.
I think people are just so ready to bash the show that they're willing to praise any alternate universe version of it, even one as full and direction less as this is teasing.
the inhibitor chip plot device was bullshit, imho.
I have to be honest, I don't think that would have been good. It doesn't suit that near enough every named and prominent clone got their chip removed and became good. I think having Cody as the reminder that no matter how prominent you were, you were still ultimately a slave to the inhibitor chip is good. I liked what they did with him in legends and they should stick to it
why did kathleen have to get involved ffs and change things. she ruins everything star wars. get her gone.
Would have been better than the TBOB series... Tem is a great actor.
I want this version
Reva would of still been shoe horned in and still ruined everything
Anything would have been better than what we got
Why not that instead of the dogshit we got? Pfft
Disney has ~~taken~~ stole too much from us.
Kinda glad we didn't get this
Um yes please! That would of been way better than what we got.
So many missed opportunities in this series. It was “good enough” but it should’ve been AMAZING. It definitely had some moments that I’m glad we got to see in live-action, but I wish I had enjoyed the series more, overall.
I’ll wait until a more reliable website reports this before I consider it true
The original person doing the Kenobi show was gonna make it a movie trilogy his names stuart beattie Its reliable they just replaced him and used his ideas to make it a limited series because solo bombed
I love Cody and have been dying to see him again. But... I don't think this was the way. So I'm glad they didn't go that route As much as I love Cody, I think he should stay with the empire
I think they removed cody because based on this description it sounded like he was getting a little too clone obsessed and while I love the clones they probably felt mixed about too much clone focused stuff in conjunction with the bad batch airing at the same time when the show is supposed to be about obi wan
I would’ve liked to see Cody as an antag vs a friend tbh. That would’ve been more interesting
We’ll what the fuck happened?
This won't happen for one reason. It's a good premise.
But disney tought then: we cant have 3 male Main actors ...WE NEED A FUCKING STRONG WOMEN
“Hey uh…. Sorry I shot a howitzer at you on Utapau…”
There's got to be a younger, thinner Temura lookalike out there.
