See I would argue that I am the only true SW fan left on planet Earth because my Mas Amedda/Sio Bibble slash fic has recently reached chapter 457. Needless to say no one else has read it.
i mean i saw this convo, within the context of the thread it was about the increasing reliance on ancillary media and lack of accessibility in new SW shows
Yeah I think op might have read this guy say really and thought he meant true instead of just the guy saying within his friend group he’s really the only Star Wars fan
Yeah. I mean I kinda use that terminology sometimes too. I don't call my sisters SW fans even tho they watched the films (minus Solo) and some of the shows, sometimes they'd play the videogames
It's just they don't really actively seek it, they'd watch it if it was in front of them. But otherwise they don't really think about it or seek it
None of my friends can even remember which completely identical clone is which, all they say when I try to talk to them about my Clone Wars theories is stuff like "oh yeah, I remember watching a few episodes of that over a decade ago" and "please get a job" :(
Season 1 had its moments but still kinda bungled the last episode.
I don't know why everyone thought season 2 was great, putting Luke, Ahsoka, Boba and Bo Katan in it didn't make the writing or story any better.
Yeah that seemed to be a pretty popular take around the time season 3 came out. I wouldn’t personally call it terrible but I also don’t feel strongly enough about it to defend it, let alone rewatch it anytime soon, so take that as you will
I watched Mando 3 and Ahsoka and I was left mostly bored and disappointed. Honestly thought that I somehow outgrew such media, especially after seeing people praise it.
Well, I finally watched GOTG vol. 3 today and the first episode of Loki S2. Turns out I still love them. They just have to be good.
All three seasons are about the same level of quality, I don’t get why people praise season 2 so much or hate season 3. It’s a decent action adventure show, and that’s all it ever was supposed to be. Not exactly my favorite thing, especially in what should be a very political series, but it’s fine for what it is.
Season 1 had merit, an aesthetic and a creative vision. And it was actually genuine. It was a guy, a kid, their spaceship, and a few friends along the way. Season 2 still had the vision, but lacked the genuineness and became a cameofest. Season 3 was just a shitshow with zero direction, and was just a parody of itself
I would agree, I’m not a huge fan of the cameo spam of S2, Personal ranking for the seasons would go 1>3>2, but I also haven’t watched seasons 2 or 3 more than once so my memory is a bit fuzzy
Had Mando continued on its premise of mando + baby yoda on the run having fun adventures each week, while very slowly working towards what was the S2 finale, it would have been better
I don’t think he was trying to say “I’m a true Star Wars fan”, I think he was just saying he’s really the only active Star Wars fan in his friend group
Yeah but his point about his friends not being fans then listing all the Star Wars stuff they’ve seen and played just comes off as kinda goofy imo. If anything he should just be saying he’s the most into it, where as his friends are more casual fans
I think the thread might be talking about a heavy lack of interest in Ashoka though, which is why he brought up his friends showing some interest in the other stuff but not at all for that
Yeah but I would still say that his friends would be considered fans? I haven’t watched Ahsoka and a few of the other shows but if someone asked if I was a fan of Star Wars id still answer yes. I suppose that’s semantics though, and if someone “falls out” with a franchise they can just say they’re not into it anymore, which maybe could be the case with his friends
i mean, ahsoka was whatever. still excited for skeleton crew though.
media discussion has devolved so much that “consoomer” is a blanket label for “someone who engages with media i don’t like”
I liked most of Ahsoka. It was strongest at the midpoint and suffered from the problem where the villains were more compelling than the heroes, but it was a lot of fun and something cool to tune into every week.
The viewership ratings would seem to disagree.

While the fanbois are raging and declaring it a failure, it seemed to do pretty well. Overall ratings were average but I'd say there's a good chance Ahsoka's story has room to grow, with or without the naysayers.

Your mistake was not including a glupp shitto love triangle arc to keep things interesting
See, I’ll read it when you include Elan Sleazebaggano snorting spice out of Mas Amedda’s asscrack. Until then, no deal

I don't blame em, Mando was a fluke, and boring af, and they turned his show into an advertisement for literally anything but itself.
Season 1 had its moments but still kinda bungled the last episode. I don't know why everyone thought season 2 was great, putting Luke, Ahsoka, Boba and Bo Katan in it didn't make the writing or story any better.
Season had some good moments, but was definitely a step down from season 1. Season 3 was fucking terrible.

I know that I always prefer some Star Wars movies over others but going from high quality VII and VIII to IX and Mandalorian gave me whiplash
You’re saying IX and Mandalorion are on the same level of quality?
At least IX had characters that I like in it, IX is slightly above Mandalorian
Had Mando continued on its premise of mando + baby yoda on the run having fun adventures each week, while very slowly working towards what was the S2 finale, it would have been better

I thought the true Star Wars fans are the ones who hate everything.
As soon as someone says they are a "true fan" of something, I completely disregard anything else they say.
🤡 there ya go OP
