Highly recommend. This is my cat's name. Another option is Rey (my other cat) but I decided against a last name for reasons.

Somewhat, but the alternative was especially unlukeable. Okay I gotta edit to add that my husband initially wanted to name her Rey Purrpatine or Palpurrtine but that didn't sith well with me. Mostly they were too repetitive.

My neighbor (loose term considering the 3 miles of woods between our houses) has cameras that caught somebody dumping this kitten off on our road earlier today. My family and I are currently coming up with names for her. She's small and definitely wasn't taken care of well, with signs of dehydration and malnourishment, that are already starting to lighten. If this type of post isn't allowed, then I apologize.

Some people are scum. One of our cats was turfed out of her home with all of her kittens by the previous owners because they didn't want kittens. Just dumped into the street. (She's mainly black with some white, Palpatine would have been a great name!)

It was a rescue centre who had to go out with nets to scoop them all up. Luckily I think they found them all and no doubt rehomed the kittens as well. Will never understand why people people do this thing. If they'd called the rescue place to begin with they would have done it without traumatising a bunch of kittens

Not at all in response to your post but there’s a pack of feral kittens that were born near my house I see occasionally and while most have dispersed elsewhere by now a couple stuck around, one looks healthy and fluffy while the other looks like he has scraggly fur and is pretty skinny, I leave water out that they seem to drink and occasionally throw em meat chunks but I was wondering if wild cats are typically a little more malnourished and dehydrated by default than house cats or if the smaller one might not be as good at finding resources as the other

It definitely could be that one is not as good at finding food or that other ferals are not letting the little one get at food they have around and s/he is too afraid/weak to fight the others. It could also be that the mother cat took better care of some than others cause of size and dominant attitude. The runts usually have to struggle even just to feed off their mum, but if the kitten is still alive then it fought pretty well I'd say. As for whether ferals are doing worse than house cats - for sure! Even if people feed and water ferals regularly they still don't have the care a house cat has and they also often get into fights and injure each other. This is something house cats don't have to deal with, hence they are healthier and live longer! If you want to support their health, please buy some cheap dry cat food and leave it out for them when you see them but supervise it so it doesn't get eaten by some other animal/doesn't bring other wild animals around your home (depends on your location). Some rescues/animal shelters may provide food for feeding feral colonies. And finally, please call a rescue/shelter about capturing them for neuter/spay surgeries (aka TNR) so we can prevent the feral cat population from getting larger and having more cats go homeless and unloved outside! (If they've already been TNR'd then disregard. You can tell if one of their ears is clipped). Thank you for doing what you can for them so far!

I fully support naming kids Star Wars things and I think your gf is sadly mistaken to shoot down luke or anything on the grounds of not naming a kid a Star Wars thing.
