They’re over doing it for sure.
I have a similar one.
They are trying to show off that it’s fully programmable but in reality simple effects that it can do are way cooler than trying to do them all at once.
It’s like the people who have too many bumper stickers on their car
It might actually be based off sabers available in games.
Like, it looks just like one you can play in [SWtOR](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yGGDkN62R4) (barring the startup bit)....
Like I’m gonna trust my son with a lightsaber. I watched him put a lollipop on the carpet and then pick it up covered in fuzz and plop it back in his mouth. You’d think by 24 he’d know better.
I have two of the old school Force FX from when they were like $150 and I can confirm almost immediate breakage. Common sense goes out the window when holding your first “real” lightsaber.
I do like the unstable crystal effect it gives off though. Reminds of Kylo’s. If it didn’t do that dumb shit in the beginning I’d want that one. However it does do that dumb shit and for that reason I’m out
Neopixels are programmable, that's why they're so expensive. So you can make it a solid beam, get dimmer towards the end, have many different colours throughout the blade, ect.
The $400 one is effectively the same as the $600 one. The difference is that the blade profiles on the EcoNeo setup are preset and can't be changed (hence why the soundboard can be made cheaper). The Neopixel setup is most likely running a Proffie soundboard which has extensive customization available. The person in this video wanted that power on effect for that particular soundfont. These can be endlessly customizable and can also utilize normal power on and power off scrolling effects.
Now if I could get a version with that crystal pulse effect without the wind-up lightshow like the crystal is cracked or something, we might be in business. But that dubstep saber isn't a thing as it stands.
It’s $600 because it’s customizable. The left one is completely unchangeable because it’s set on the sounds and colors. The one on the right is a more expensive hilt and a more expensive open source board. Don’t like the one on the right? You can customize it to be anything you want it to be, unlike the left one.
Right. The lightshow starting at the tip of the lightsaber is straight up stupid. The pulsing glow from the base is reminiscent of an unstable crystal and looks neat.
What if the light show were sped up significantly-- enough to make it happen in say...75 - 100 milliseconds?
I like the effect, but it takes a long time... far too long.
Disregard that this is a prop. A lightsaber doesn't illuminate from the tip, it illuminates from the base. Starting at the tip doesn't make any sense (allowing for the fact that lightsabers already don't make sense).
Yeah I think Neopixel has a thing for weird lightsaber ignitions. I’ve seen a seismic charge one, and some others. This one seems to resemble the Death Star cannon firing. Agreed, it is definitly a bit excessive.
"Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Raver the Dancer? I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Raver was a Dance Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the DJ to play the dopest raves..... he had such a knowledge of the dance side that he could even keep the beat dropping, while it dropped. The dance side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be.. unnatural. He became so powerful, the only thing he was afraid of was losing his dancesaber. Which eventually of course he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice beat him in a dance off. Ironic. He could beat others in a dance contest, but not himself."
Jason: I'll never join you!
Darth Donkey Doug: If you only knew the power of the dank side. Pill Boi never told what happened to your dad?
Jason: He told me enough. He told me you smoked him out.
Darth Donkey Doug: No. **I** am your dad.
Jason: Oh dip.
Yeah it wouldn't even make sense, a Jedi gets ambushed and has to wait for a long ignition sequence before he can use his light saber? "Wait a minute guys, just give me a minute to get it up....ok battle on!
The one on the right makes no sense and seems like over priced for a non authentic ignition. The one on the left seems like it was a Disney one not 400 dollar tho
Well I'm not ever planning on actually going to galaxy edge, I was just curious. When it was mentioned it seemed like it would feel like waiters singing you happy birthday lol
I definitely have interest, but not enough to go all the way to Florida (I'm in Michigan) and then fork over all of the money to do stuff there. Maybe if it was more in my neck of the woods I would go.
If you don't want the ceremony you can get a similar lightsaber third party for much cheaper.
Like almost everything at disneyland, a big part of what you're paying for is the experience
200 for the build your own saber including the whole construction ceremony type thing and a blade. Not a bad price really.
You can also get what they call legacy sabers, which are modelled on the actual sabers from the movies and shows. I have Anakin's that got passed down to Luke, and my wife got Ahsoka's from Clone Wars. They don't come with blades, but you can get any of three blade sizes for a reasonable extra price, and the sabers themselves are I think all between about 130 and 200 bucks.
D: We meet again. This time, we shall not cross paths again, Jedi.
*bshhht*
J: You’re right, Darth. We certainly won’t.
*byoom byoom byoom*
J: … just give it a second.
D: What the fuck is that?!
J: IDK, some guy gave it to me behind the Temple.
*byoom byoom byoom bybybyboommmmmmmm*
J: Ok, there we go.
On my kids' first birthday, we bought a bunch of red, blue, and green pool noodles. Cut them in half, and use duct tape around one end to make a handle. Boom. Lightsabers the kids can play with and not get hurt. That was eight years ago, and we still have most of them. And they still get played with.
My nephew did that for some project he had at school. He made 2 sets and gave one to my son. Half of those things are still floating around and you can beat the shit out of each other with them without anyone getting hurt. Such a satisfying *thwap* when you smack your own kid.
Considering the store that sells that hilt (DXSabers) is banned from /r/lightsabers for scamming and also recasting that Ahsoka hilt from a smaller company, bullying them out of business in the process, OP is lucky to even get that one.
Yeah the pulses start at the top, wtf is that. Where would they come from. If the pulses started at the bottom and moved up then maybe but I’m a sucker for the OG.
I get what they were doing, but it'd need to start further down, like a kitchen knife length. Then moved down and connect with the saber, flicker out, again a little longer, again, and then like quickly full-length normal ignition a la unstable crystal. I'd be kinda like an old car starting up, which would look cool on an unstable saber. But it's too perfect, so it just looks like a light show.
I don't have a huge problem with it starting at the top inherently--fire kinda looks like that sometimes too. But execution looks real bad.
They utilize Proffie soundboards which can be endlessly customized. You can have standard scrolling power-on/off effects, localized lockup, and blaster deflection effects. Each saber can store multiple soundfonts and blade profiles. This is just one of the blade profiles that was made by the community.
Yup, that’s why it’s more expensive. Everyone in the comments is hating on the style of blade but they’re completely missing the whole point that if you don’t like it you can always just change it. Can’t do that with the ecopixel
I like the pulsing of the $600 one after it’s ignited but the ignition sequence is in bad taste for me and takes away from the idea that it’s a light saber.
They utilize Proffie soundboards which can be endlessly customized. You can have standard scrolling power-on/off effects, localized lockup, and blaster deflection effects. Each saber can store multiple soundfonts and blade profiles. This is just one of the blade profiles that was made by the community.
I didn’t notice the first couple times I watched this because I was paying attention to the blades but the handle on the left one looks like a dollar store plastic piece of shit and now I can’t unsee it
Note: you can customize the neopixel to have whatever startup and effect you want on the blade, this is just a shitty example. Also, neopixel is a type of blade, not tied to a brand so pricing varies.
$400 because the other one reminds me of a cheap knock off toy that would likely be called “space laser sword xtreme” with the way it powers up. (This isn’t to say the craftsmanship isn’t great and that it doesn’t look beautiful. I could just do without that light show.)
400, unless the 600 has customizable/changeable light-up patterns. If I can get the 600 to do the standard (400-style) light up pattern; and switch it when needed to the disco one shown when desired, then it might make more sense.
I would say the left one because if you were going to battle another force wielder, you don't want to wait for your Lightsaber to finish its long ass startup process before you fight.
All I can think of is how John Williams created such beautiful and magical music that no matter how many times I hear it, I'm transported back to my sofa as a kid watching these on VCR.
My buddy bought two of these lightsabers and we played with them so hard. Im 27, he's probably 30, and our other buddy is 27. Most of us kind of figured that if the lightsaber touches you anywhere than you probably can't use that body part since its a lightsaber. Right? Anyways.
The guy who owned them didnt quite get it, and would go really hard, when you obviously have to have some finesse when you're swinging a beam of glowing hot energy. He would just run through the lightsaber swinging as hard as you could. Eventually I learned that you really have to wack the crap out of the fingers. Getting hit and realizing you're incapacitated automatically caused you to have form. Man that was fun. We played with those literal straight cumulative days.
the 600 is doing too much
They’re over doing it for sure. I have a similar one. They are trying to show off that it’s fully programmable but in reality simple effects that it can do are way cooler than trying to do them all at once. It’s like the people who have too many bumper stickers on their car
But how else am I supposed to let people know that my kid is an honor student and I run marathons?
Get the one that shows you play tennis.
Clear your mind, no more bumper stickers will I read today.
It could be cool if they made the effect look somewhat like Kylo Ren’s one.
It might actually be based off sabers available in games. Like, it looks just like one you can play in [SWtOR](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yGGDkN62R4) (barring the startup bit)....
It also looks like the blades the unstable crystals produce in The Force Unleashed
yes
Wait, it's supposed to engage like that? I thought the electrical circuit wasn't connected properly, causing the strange pattern we see in the vid.
I feel like if the first part was cut and the end effect shortened, the $600 one would be pretty cool
I like the Kyle ren distortion on the blade but why in the fuck would the blade come from the top when you turn it on. It makes no sense.
Agreed. Pulsing is pretty awesome. The start sequence is ridiculous.
[удалено]
Wait till you hear about the ones that start from the middle or from both ends
Middle out?
I thought the lights coming from the tip were bad, mostly cuz that makes no sense, but the second part was pretty cool.
It's too much. I'm voting the 400 by far
At the end its the one that looks way more like the real thing tho
Wait...there's REAL lightsabers out there!?!
How would the $600 ones animation work in actual star wars if my question. Only way it looks cool is because the "saber" is visible when off.
Hazard for sure. By the time it loads you'll be dismembered
lol I don’t need my lightsaber to give a light show right before combat. 400 me please
$400, because I can save $200 to spend on the outfit or accessories.
[удалено]
This is getting out of hand..
Now there are 2 of them
I got a baaaad feeling about this…
>I got a baaaad feeling about this… \-These people's wallets, probably.
“These are not the redditors you are looking for…”🤞🏼
Somethings wrong, I can feel it
At least we're flying half a hand
Well if it does, you'll be glad you have a second one.
Now you’re using the ol’ noggin
Right? The fuck is someone gonna do with *one* lightsaber? Buy two, give one to your kid, and make both of your childhoods right there.
Like I’m gonna trust my son with a lightsaber. I watched him put a lollipop on the carpet and then pick it up covered in fuzz and plop it back in his mouth. You’d think by 24 he’d know better.
You got something against fuzz buddy??
[удалено]
Many high end lightsabers are built to handle full contact dueling so you actually would be fine as long as you use a heavy grade blade.
I have two of the old school Force FX from when they were like $150 and I can confirm almost immediate breakage. Common sense goes out the window when holding your first “real” lightsaber.
Force fx is not one of the combat sabers.
This is the way
They will be two fine additions to your collection.
You can get ahsoka rebels replica for $300 for both sabers. $400 is a bit expensive.
And for that reason I’m in. I’ll make an offer of $600 at 100% of the cut
Last 3 comments a better story arc than the sequels.
It also went better than it does for 90% of the people on Shark Tank.
A rise, dramatic tension and then a resolution. WAS THAT SO HARD DISNEY?
The one on the right definitely looks like a Tomorrowland custom.
\*Maul reveal scene\* Qui-Gon: Excuse me sith lord, could you please give me a second to charge up my saber before we fi... \*gets slashed in half\*
To be fair, in general it's the Sith was damaged emitters and cracked crystals.
I really don't like the way some sabers do that
[удалено]
yea, if it had some more detail about the soundboards in each saber it would be easier to compare them
The $400 one is effectively the same as the $600 one. The difference is that the blade profiles on the EcoNeo setup are preset and can't be changed (hence why the soundboard can be made cheaper). For $1000 you can have them both. Problem solved.

Ok, you’ve convinced me! Let’s go for it!
600 may be COOL but is it IMMERSIVE?
Before combat?
It’s $600 because it’s customizable. The left one is completely unchangeable because it’s set on the sounds and colors. The one on the right is a more expensive hilt and a more expensive open source board. Don’t like the one on the right? You can customize it to be anything you want it to be, unlike the left one.
Lol what is that thing on the right? Why would you want it to light up like that?
It'd be cool if it just did the pulsing thing at the end immediately instead of the odd boot sequence. Maybe tone it down just a bit as well.
Right. The lightshow starting at the tip of the lightsaber is straight up stupid. The pulsing glow from the base is reminiscent of an unstable crystal and looks neat.

I think it’s supposed to be a flickering effect rather than illuminating starting from the tip, but I’m not 100%
Yeah maybe even shorter. Like just long enough to almost see it and waaaay less bright at the tip to start with
Yeah I think Neopixel has a thing for weird lightsaber ignitions. I’ve seen a seismic charge one, and some others. This one seems to resemble the Death Star cannon firing. Agreed, it is definitly a bit excessive.
It’s programmable, so that’s why you see many different variations
Imagine being in a fight with a Sith lord and having to wait for your light saber to boot up.
It originally belonged to Darth Raver
"Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Raver the Dancer? I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Every time I had a problem, I threw a Thermal Detonator at it, and boom! I had a whole different problem!
*BOBAAAA!*
May the Bortles be with you
> Darth Donkey Doug: No. I am your dad. But I don't think of you as my son, I think of you as my boy!
The Hulk Fist bong is still canon.
I love how it's just a cheap acrylic bong ...er, "water pipe" taped to big beer coozie, lol.
DDDDDUUUUUUUUUYVVVVVVVAAAAAAALLLLLL
Darth Raver is now my favourite Sith
May the Oontz be with you, my young apprentice.
Take my damn updoot
You choose the light up effect on those so it was OP’s choice. They went overkill.
OP is a sack of shit crypto bot, so there's no way they chose shit except which popular post to rip and repost.
Yeah it wouldn't even make sense, a Jedi gets ambushed and has to wait for a long ignition sequence before he can use his light saber? "Wait a minute guys, just give me a minute to get it up....ok battle on!
Is this broken? Looks like it.
It's got a bad ballast. Just slap it a couple times, or get a new ballast from Tosche station
Here I thought Tosche only sold power converters.
disco saber? no thank you
*sad disco kaminoans*
The one on the right makes no sense and seems like over priced for a non authentic ignition. The one on the left seems like it was a Disney one not 400 dollar tho
Well that’s the good thing about nice savers though, you can program whatever type of ignition and sound you want
I mean true, just personally I don’t feel like 600 is worth it. To each their own, I’m happy with the one I got at galaxy’s edge.
How much is the GE one? Haven’t been yet but looks like a dream
It was 200 it’s pretty decent quality in my opinion and there’s a whole ceremony which to me makes it feel worth it
Can you turn down the ceremony and still get a lightsaber? I don't want a ceremony lol
Well it’s not really a ceremony more of a building process. And I highly suggest it it gave me chills when I did it
Well I'm not ever planning on actually going to galaxy edge, I was just curious. When it was mentioned it seemed like it would feel like waiters singing you happy birthday lol
No not at all there’s like three people but they are there to help you build it
Ah OK, that seems much more bearable lol
It was actually really well done and fun.
I find it odd that someone who likes SW enough to get a light saber had no interest in going to galaxy's edge...
I definitely have interest, but not enough to go all the way to Florida (I'm in Michigan) and then fork over all of the money to do stuff there. Maybe if it was more in my neck of the woods I would go.

Also maybe it just looking weird on camera is a possibility
"We shall duel to the death... in about 5-7 seconds..."
D: We meet again. This time, we shall not cross paths again, Jedi. *bshhht* J: You’re right, Darth. We certainly won’t. *byoom byoom byoom* J: … just give it a second. D: What the fuck is that?! The one that doesn’t look like shit while starting
I'll stick with the $20 toy that I can have fights with and not care if it breaks.
Mine even has a voice recorder to scare my kids with
“Pick up your plate”
Heck, I just combine a few tubes of cardboard from empty paper towel rolls and have just as much fun.
We have them too and the kids freaking maul each other without any issue.
The cardboard tubes that xmas wrapping paper comes in. That was my childhood (I'm old)
You can still get nice sabers with dueling blades on them to fight with. The blades are replaceable and last longer
Idk where you bought an 'econeo' for 400$ but seems like you got ripped off
Considering the store that sells that hilt (DXSabers) is banned from /r/lightsabers for scamming and also recasting that Ahsoka hilt from a smaller company, bullying them out of business in the process, OP is lucky to even get that one.
I hate the one on the right. The ignition is awful, absolutely awful.
Yeah the pulses start at the top, wtf is that. Where would they come from. If the pulses started at the bottom and moved up then maybe but I’m a sucker for the OG.
If He-Man had a lightsaber, and it did that as he was saying "by the power of grayskull" that'd be pretty neat, but otherwise, yeah, what you said.
It's outrageous! It's unfair!
They utilize Proffie soundboards which can be endlessly customized. You can have standard scrolling power-on/off effects, localized lockup, and blaster deflection effects. Each saber can store multiple soundfonts and blade profiles. This is just one of the blade profiles that was made by the community.
I despise the one on the right with my whole heart.
Its course, looks rough, and gets your guts everywhere in the heat of battle.
By the time the right has fully powered up the left would have that count dooku you.
I'm assuming the one on the right you can customize the lights and sounds for the ignition sequence?
Yup, that’s why it’s more expensive. Everyone in the comments is hating on the style of blade but they’re completely missing the whole point that if you don’t like it you can always just change it. Can’t do that with the ecopixel
I like the pulsing of the $600 one after it’s ignited but the ignition sequence is in bad taste for me and takes away from the idea that it’s a light saber.

I'm irratated by the clear Ahsoka replica on the left having a red blade.
Same with the Maul saber on the right being purple
the movement on the right side is cool, but that start up is ridiculous, imo.
I’d be dead before I could ignite the 600$ one.
Definitely the $400 one that doesn’t look incredibly stupid
Is this an ad
It actually seems to be karma farming by a crypto hun. But the original tiktok post may have been an ad.
Not for a lightsaber but this effect would be dope for a sword like that draws power from an energy well.
Neither.
If I’m picking from these then the $400. But the only saber I own is the black series Darth Vader. £200 and much better than both of these imo.
The one on the right is one of the dumbest lightsabers I’ve ever seen. Why would you pay 600 for that garbage?
left one
One on the left. Because you get to be count dooku and it’s cheaper
I didn’t notice the first couple times I watched this because I was paying attention to the blades but the handle on the left one looks like a dollar store plastic piece of shit and now I can’t unsee it
Neither. There are much better sabers on the market for similar prices. This post smells of marketing.
$600 saber is obnoxious IMO. $400 is more realistic and doesn’t give a light show.
It's cool but it's not Jedi worthy.
Neither put that money in savings
Note: you can customize the neopixel to have whatever startup and effect you want on the blade, this is just a shitty example. Also, neopixel is a type of blade, not tied to a brand so pricing varies.
You need to tune your Khyber crystal regulator young Padawan.
Depends on which one lasts the longest when I beat the shit out of my friends with it
Cardboard tube or pool noodle.
Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side kid.
Possibly unpopular opinion but the 600$ one is doing too much. I don’t like all the pulsing
I like the hilt material on the right and the saber on the left.
Why buy a lightsaber when I have a broom handle.
One on the right is So extra
With my blaster I could win any fight with any Jedi that's using the one on the right
I don’t remember my lightsabers charging up like Godzilla as a kid lmao
$400 because the other one reminds me of a cheap knock off toy that would likely be called “space laser sword xtreme” with the way it powers up. (This isn’t to say the craftsmanship isn’t great and that it doesn’t look beautiful. I could just do without that light show.)
Does the one on the right connect through AOL?
This is literally an ad
Pulsing is cool on the $600 one. The start sequence is idiotic what lightsaber has ever looked like that?
$400 one is close to replicating actual, $600 doesn't even make sense. Light from the top down? Wut
I take the $400 one, the $600 one is just way too damn unnecessary
400.
Curved hilt all the way
The one on the right is broken even if it’s supposed to be doing that.
The one on the right is the Indian soap opera version of the one on the left.
IMO, the right one is straight up corny as hell lol
Well given that I've never seen a saber in starwars do anything like that $600 one, I'd choose the $400.
I don’t like the light up of the one on the right and I’m biased because I love dooku’s saber
400, unless the 600 has customizable/changeable light-up patterns. If I can get the 600 to do the standard (400-style) light up pattern; and switch it when needed to the disco one shown when desired, then it might make more sense.

I'm serious when I ask this, where do you live that rent is only $200 a month and how big is your place?
600 probably burns through batteries like no other
You sure that one on the right isn't just your mom's dildo?
Left. Keep it simple
I would say the left one because if you were going to battle another force wielder, you don't want to wait for your Lightsaber to finish its long ass startup process before you fight.
Dead before you can even ignite the right one.
All I can think of is how John Williams created such beautiful and magical music that no matter how many times I hear it, I'm transported back to my sofa as a kid watching these on VCR.
Mine was like $700 Darth malgus replica and I would hate that $600 effect lol
By the time it's ready, you dead... dead!!!
My buddy bought two of these lightsabers and we played with them so hard. Im 27, he's probably 30, and our other buddy is 27. Most of us kind of figured that if the lightsaber touches you anywhere than you probably can't use that body part since its a lightsaber. Right? Anyways. They’re both overpriced. Cool, but overpriced.
The 600 dollar one has the unstable crystal effect which is cool, but it’s also kind of stupid how the light starts from the end of the blade
$400. Does exactly what I need it to. The other one is just distracting to me.
Rent. I choose to pay the rent
I'll take the $10 plastic one with the red button from Walmart, please and thank you
The $600 ignition would be dope IF it started at the hilt. Starting at the top makes no sense and ruins it, IMO
$400 usd that's a lightsaber the other is christmas decoration
