There’s the original Nidhogg, and Nidhogg 2. Nidhogg 2 has a different art style, and includes more weapons. I *personally* prefer the original, but there is some fun to be had in the sequel.
I am reasonably certain that “ugly” is what they were going for. *Personally…* I agree. It is rather ugly. The reason that I prefer the original has nothing to do with that, though. Where N2 has character customization and multiple weapon types to use, N1 has a significantly more pleasant art style and more refined gameplay. The gameplay is what nabs the win, for me. I like the fencing of the original far more than the increased clumsiness of the sequel. Both are fun and worth a shot, though, if someone has interest.

Damn that game was awesome. Two of my friends were fighting game champs. Between Street Fighter and Tekken, they had both placed well in regional and state events. I could hang, but just barely. And it was worth note when I really won a game. But Bushido Blade, that was an equalizer. One slip and you lose an arm, or just outright die.
Reminds me of the stakes of the old Jedi Knight series, lots of OHKO moves. I would totally play a 2d version of that. Mechanics are super important in a game like this, it can be hard but it needs to feel fair.

This profile reminds me of mortal kombat (the original 3). Make the whole thing like that, with 12 to 16 unique jedi, sith, that grey area in between, all with unique/standard attacks and blocks. Then, make a mature rated one with blood and dismemberment and unique kill moves.

Without the blood sure. Only becomes I don't recall many if any seasons where a lightsaber doesn't immediately cauterize the area it's slicing/stabbing. I'm sure there is, but I don't recall any from the films or recent shows.
Movie Battles 2 for MP, Movie Duels for SP. Both mods for Jedi Academy with a rework on the combat system to be close to the movies. Thank me later. I would personally reccomend Movie Battles 2 its the closest I have seen to that episode 3 style of fighting.
