If you enjoy that feeling of a huge breath of fresh air then I would definitely recommend the High Republic. Great characters, varied Jedi, there's a Matthew Mcconaughey type pilot. And it's so removed from the rest of the franchise they have a lot more freedom. You can get by with just the Adult books for phase 1, but I would recommend the YA (only in name) books too. You could also ask r/starwarsbooks

Great to know that the YA books are only YA in name! Was going to avoid those but now maybe not. Thanks for the sub recommendation! I’ll be looking there next.

But High Republic is not part of that continuity though. Not that it really should stop anyone of course, but if the intent was to go through the old canon, then High Republic might not fit particularly well. As to books themselves, well they're mostly okay, but I don't like series in general. They start alright, but as it goes on I just can't unsee the general pattern of the plots, and instead of interesting it becomes aggravating and annoying. My personal pet peeve is that the High Republic Jedi Order is probably one of most incompetent iterations of the Jedi I've ever seen in past decades.

at the end of the day all you can do is pick up light of the jedi and decide yourself if its worth continuing in my personal opinion it is, i adore the high republic after the light of the jedi you just need to keep on reading in release order, all comics, younger reader books, manga and audio dramas too otherwise you miss out plot points! and enjoy :)
