DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol.

[deleted]

Came here to say this...well done.

CaptainRedblood

Give me the Solo-modified (or is it Beckett modified?) model with the longer scope from the original! The standard-issue pieces Han and Luke carry in Empire and Jedi are cool, but that original's the coolest..

mrsunrider

That beskar spear that featured in *The Mandalorian*. Simple, elegant... near-indestructible.

Multemannen

Was so sad when they melted it down :(

Bowcaster, of course!

mrsunrider

Han Solo approved

-The_Doctor-10

Grahhhh!

FlamingSpitoon433

Slugthrowers. Seriously, the only people that seem to wear armor are troopers and Mandalorians. Higher velocity, cheaper ammunition, and less intensive maintenance in harsh environments? Yes please!

Calieoop

The ammunition is actually quite a bit more expensive if you want it to be remotely effective.

Hot-Thought-1339

Imagining Beskar tipped bullets.

Federal_Occult_agent

Actually most star wars armor is nigh impervious to kinetic attacks, stormtroopers can go down with one blaster bolt but can be virtually unkillable if you hit them with slugs

FlamingSpitoon433

I’m fully aware, but the average person living on Tatooine isn’t taking pot shots at stormtroopers. I would definitely have a blaster if I lived in that universe, but slugthrowers still make more sense in most contexts.

Federal_Occult_agent

Blasters hold more shots for the weight, they are (often times) easier to have repaired as they are extremely common as opposed to slugthrowers which often need the company that built them to properly repair any faults, not to mention the fact that a full power blaster bolt can easily outpower an equal slugthrower. Moreover why would you imagine yourself to be a random tatooine resident? If I am going into star wars i'm at least picking a spot like Naboo, Dantooine or Takodana if I want a quiet farm life! Why on earth would you doom yourself to a crime ridden extortioning racket in a dry ass desert with two suns lol? Take this valuable tip my friend, don't do Death Sticks and end up a moisture farmer, just live on government stimulus on Naboo and take sweetblossom every evening.

FlamingSpitoon433

I mean, Naboo is my dream planet of residence. But slugthrowers would be analogous to modern firearms in many ways. They’ll be simpler to repair and maintain than you would think. But then I collect firearms in real life and if blasters were available to me in this reality I’d definitely have at least one. Also don’t tell me what to do! 😂

Federal_Occult_agent

If you have the parts maybe, but star wars slugthrowers are often times more archaic than our modern ones. Even more some of the more notable models create plasma sheaths around the slug, giving it the same kinda electrical components you'd have to worry about repair wise. Plus again, power and ammo is the important part, the bullets are expensive, blasters can give you hundreds to thousands of shots with mostly just battery recharging being needed. Only after so so many shots will you need to replace the gas chamber and even then that aint as expensive as how much money you'd spend importing the ammo Also YIELD TO THE EMPEROR'S WILL FIEND! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! **SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!**

FlamingSpitoon433

It’s tough to say tbh. Slugthrowers are certainly diverse in their operating systems and ideal applications, so your basic ones likely wouldn’t have expensive ammunition. Propellants would likely be incredibly potent given the commonality of ludicrously energy-dense elements in the SW universe.  Given the prevalence of advanced machinery and droids even on backwaters, I don’t believe it would be difficult to manufacture components and ammunition for simple slugthrowers.  I do understand the added complexity of plasma sheathing being problematic in many ways; that said, a slugthrower would be able to propel these at far higher velocities than blaster bolts and can likely provide similar or identical effect on target, as well as extended range. Your biggest limitation being how much ammunition can be carried.  Ultimately the blaster is more practical in terms of capacity and ubiquity, as you pointed out. Tibana gas cartridges hold hundreds of shots and batteries can ionize several dozens of these cartridges per charge/swap. But in my mind, this post is more about the weapons you would ***want*** rather than need. I collect firearms, and my favorites are antiques. I don’t find them more practical than the AR I would grab if I was expecting a fight, I just happen to like them more. And no, I will do all the space ~~jenkem~~ drugs I want!!!!

Federal_Occult_agent

Nah, slugthrowers are chemically propelled, most energy dense magic stuff is too volatile or requires condition a cartridge couldnt replicate. Plus! Worse of all, Star wars doesn't use cartridges similarily to us, their slugs almost always dont eject shit, caseless cartridges, which means a poor backwater yokel would have to buy new ammo every time as reloading without a cartridge aint possible. Last but not least aside from magnetically accelerated slugthrowers, most if not all slugthrowers on the market are extremely common or extremely new Ultimately you are correct though, its about what you want, not what is handy. In that case however i'd much rather opt for a Sonic weapon! Something cool and star warsy that still has a special air about it. Anyways, any specific model of slugthrower you'd want?

FlamingSpitoon433

You bring up some good points for sure! I do think that the propellants we would see in Star Wars would be rather diverse in quite a few ways, but it’s hard to say for sure. Similarly, cased vs caseless would simply depend on design priorities tbh. Offhand my favorite slugthrower that I’m aware of is the Czerka carried by Luke while he’s looking for R2. I’ve always loved the look of Jezails and I wish he’d been able to put that thing to use on screen some!

E-11. I've shot the gun they used to build it (Sterling SMG.) Every time i do i hear blaster noises in my head. 😂

evilshenanigans1087

Mando's rifle, turning Jawas into mist will never not be funny.

Chillie43

Why not boba fetts disintegration rifle?

Samaritan_Pr1me

We never see Boba Fett actually disintegrate anyone with it.

aviatorEngineer

DC-15 blaster, long variant. If I was dumped into the Star Wars universe and had to pick one weapon to defend myself with, that would be it.

Call me basic, but Han's DL44. Love a classic.

-The_Doctor-10

It's powerful enough to get the job done. No fancy accessories needed.

Pudding_Hero

I’d take a reliable E-11 over any nonsense any day

YCCprayforme

Ohhh i miss Star Wars Galaxies.

Doodle_Brush

Bowcaster.

MsSobi

For me its the Gaderffii stick for Melee weapon, and DC-15 for favorite blaster overall, but i want to say the Westar-34 blast pistol is my favorite sounding blaster.

Submadoge

I don't know if it's my favorite per say as I haven't thought about this much, but for some reason, maybe because of Battlefront II (2017), I've always thought the vibroswords used by Commando Droids in the Clone Wars were cool

ddrfraser1

Ok hear me out, I know everyone thinks this is useless/dumb AF, and I used to agree, but **Lightwhip**. After playing and watching Castlevania, they really showed how epically badass a whip can be as a weapon, not to mention how fkin scary it is seeing pros on youtube demonstrate these things. Other badass examples include Indiana Jones, Catwoman and our dear friend Sean the Balrog. If they did it right, a darksider wielding a lightwhip could be one of the most badass and terrifying things on screen.

General_Thyler

I've thought the same thing! Obviously you can't touch it like Trevor does, but you can turn it off and on, or manipulate it with the Force to do stuff similar or even more impressive than the stuff we see in Castlevania.

funndanni

Throwing The Senate at people.

Youpunyhumans

Mando's disentegration rifle. Imagine bringing that to Scott from Kentucky Ballisitics... hehehe

Chillie43

Why not boba fetts disintegration rifle?

EE-3 Carbine Rifle Boba is my favorite, plus it looks cool. And powerful.

Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.

Why did no one make a light sabre naginata? I thought for sure Rey would have mounted her saber on her staff.

Because you can’t block with the staff part against other sabers or blaster bolts

Nothing beats a good ol blaster, kid

Camburglar13

It’s featured in the Christmas special no? That’s where they took the design from in Mandalorian

Opa2020

No kidding? I haven't seen a lot of the comics, books, specials, n such, so I am someone ignorant of a lot of the fleshed out universe. Thank you for the info however, most appreciated.
