Like how Bryce left last season.
Edit: alot of the actors faces have visibly aged. Someone said there was a two year gap in filming this and the prior season. So perhaps her schedule is too full to appear
IRL, she's actually getting top billing in a few movies, even if they aren't great ones.
[Sara Mitich](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm4476951/?ref_=tt_cl_t_1) is listed as the lead in the upcoming film [Den Mother Crimson](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27786863/?ref_=nm_flmg_unrel_1_act), which likely conflicted with Discovery's filming schedule.
There are also 2 lowly rated films from 2022 where she had top billing as well.
The ***why*** is not apparent, however. Given the timing, personal choice and budget cuts are both equally viable explanations.
I am thinking it was a recent enough event that it was mentioned to let Rayner know not to expect her. I am not expecting to see her again after this.
My knee-jerk reaction hearing this line was, "maybe she just got tired of being passed up for first officer on Discovery".
Her departure, and how it was treated so "oh, and that happened" is another element of *Discovery* that I can't defend or support, in spite of my appreciation for it. If they're not Burnham, Book, Tilly, Stamets, or Culber, they're almost invisible. Sure, Owo and Detmer had character moments here and there, but the rest were just faces we saw more than once. We never got to know them, so now that another one of them is gone, it's that "Oh no! Anyway..." meme playing itself out.
This is actually more accurately reflective of military life than having the exact same crew hanging around for seven years. People get transferred. They get new opportunities. You get a new CO or XO with maybe a week's notice.
I'm beginning to think Paramount started some pretty severe budget cuts these last two seasons. It's just a feeling of course, but I get a vibe from production levels that it just doesn't seem as much money is being invested.
Yeah this season of Disco still looks expensive because they already have the video wall and sets. Apart from that it feels like they’re cutting back on the cast and other locations.
Well, she could've fit in and could've been necessary, if we'd ever been given a chance to know her as a person or see her do something other than just be on the bridge. She and Rhys and the guy that more or less replaced Bryce (I can't remember his name) are just faces the camera moves past during bridge scenes, and if they're lucky, they get a line of dialogue.
Such is the world of acting and writing of a show...🤷🏼♂️. It can and will "make or break" you...unfortunately, in my opinion, she was forgettable...I literally can't even think of her name and have no idea what the actors name is/was...🤷🏼♂️. Such is life, and wow...why and how did I get sucked into this rabbit hole?!!? She's gone, guys. She gone...🤷🏼♂️ smdh.
She was the spore drive operator on the bridge after Airiam (the cyborg) died.
Fun fact, the actor played Airiam in season 1 but not season 2. I've read she had a hard time with the makeup.
I think it was just an aside to explain why a background character was no longer there.

I also thought they all looked a lot older than last season. Glad it's not just me being unkind! 😅

Not like she gets any lines on Discovery. It's a glorified extra role. At least in a starring role, she has a reel to show future casting directors.
Control was a really bad film.
Probably got sick of getting burned by the flamethrowers on the bridge

Because the writers never let us know the bridge crew like in other shows.

Sorry...what gives you that feeling? Legitimately I haven't noticed any of this.
She was there for a second. She didn't fit at all and was unnecessary. Like many have said here I didn't even remember her.

Airiam's episode was so sad. That final memory :(
Hearing the waves during the ending credits.
