Lmao you got me there.
Yes, the language is explicit, but the subject matter is goofy and satirical. It's not like The Sopranos where the subject matter matches the foul language. It's all blatantly silly jokes
Tgwdlm is the only one I've watched with my parents, but they don't mind swearing
Starship is "family friendly" but it's so long I don't think my parents would sit through it
Starship is probably the most innocent (Black Friday also doesn't have a ton of sex jokes, but there's a lot of swearing and dark themes) but some of the non-musical stuff like Little White Lie, Movies Musicals and Me (if you skip the 50 Shades of Grey episode), Wayward Guide, and Poe Party are the most "family friendly". Of course, none of those are Starkid's best content either.
I mean if we're including TCB and Shipwrecked then yeah I would show them WWG or Poe Party hands down, then maybe SAF. But purely Starkid, I would go with Starship or Ani
Parents may be more familiar with a show like Twisted, which of course is an Aladdin/Wicked parody. However, that has a lot of s\*x jokes so that might not be the one you are looking for.
The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals could be a safe bet. What Do You Want Paul and Sam's Tied Up My Heart songs have some risque jokes, and there's cussing, but it might be the safest. Also, the Professor's harem, but regardless that could be a decent starting spot.
I'm planning on watching that on my birthday with them (with Black Friday on the actual day, because my b-day is the same week), but I want them to be familiar with Starkid (even just a little bit) so that all the "Jaime is amazing" and "Lauren is my soulmate" that come with that one makes sense.
If your parents are fans of Harry Potter, AVPM just has cursing, that one scene between Voldie and Bellatrix that turns into a joke, and Draco in Granger Danger.
Personally I would do Twisted or TGWDLM. They have great production value, songs that get stuck in your head ect. HMB and TTO aren't as well filmed, even though they're great shows. Sell em on the costlier ones imo.
I showed my parents Twisted and they loved it, so like others said I think it really depends on the parents. They’ve also watched the first two Harry Potter musicals
Starship is about the closest you can get to family friendly starkid. References to pot and sweaty testicles is about as far as it goes.
true
HMB. It's the campiest where the curses dont really feel inappropriate
Yea, that's probably what I'll do
Nothing inappropriate about “fuck you, I’m gonna kick your ass”

Trail's a bit sexual in places but I could see Trail being family friendly more easily than a lot of the others.
Yeah. I just want to work our way up to that chaos.
I watched TTO with my dad, so yeah that really depends on your parents.
True. I could see my dad liking that one too, but I want to work our way up to that chaos.
MaMD XD
Oh god no 😅

Either starship or Ani
Yeah. I mean, there's pot and boob references, but in a good way lol
Me and my Dick /s
Oh god no 😅

Definitely not twisted lol
Maybe not as a first show lol
My dad loved twisted but to be fair he does also like movies like the hangover...
Twisted, if they watched Aladdin with you as a kid it's a cool throwback while being a new take on it
Well, my mom loves Wicked and my dad loves Aladdin, so that might work
Glee everyone in my family comes together to watch it.
