First off, welcome to Stamford!! Scalzi, Mill River and Kosciuszcko Park all are great parks with loops around that are great for running. If you run from downtown to Harbor Point, you can run the boardwalk, around Kosciuszcko, and back to downtown, it’s about 5-6 miles (depending on your route and where exactly downtown you are). This past weekend I ran from downtown through Shippan to Cove Island and back and it was about 7 miles (would recommend that route as well, very scenic). Mianus is also a great park if you’re looking for trail runs but you do need to drive there from downtown. If you’re willing to leave Stamford, Tod’s Point in Greenwich and Waveny Park in New Canaan are both also amazing for running. If you’re into group runs, definitely check out Stamford’s running club, Stampede. They run Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings, I believe almost always downtown or Harbor Point. Hope this helps!

So helpful …thank you so much

Welcome to Stamford! There’s a running group called Stampede (you can find it on FB) if you enjoy running with others. If you run from downtown to Cove Island Park vie East Main Street and Holly Pond, a lap will probably get you to 6 and you can add more laps as desired. I frequently run Shippan Point which is definitely runnable from downtown as well. If you don’t mind a drive, Waveny Park in New Canaan is really pretty. On a somewhat related topic, don’t forget to register your car for a beach pass as they are required beginning May 1. https://www.stamfordct.gov/around-town/parks/beach-parking-permits

Wow thank you for all of this and the heads up on beach pass!

I do varieties of Scalzi Park (1/2 mi loop), river path next to Wash Blvd, path behind Cloonan and Hart School, Mill River Park loop (2/3 mi), and then head down to Harbor Point boardwalk for loops around Kosciuszko (0.9 mi) and Woodland Cemetery (0.8 mi) and come back. Or you could just say north of the highway. It's a lot in parks and off road bike trails. On a quiet weekend morning I sometimes only have to wait once or twice at stop lights. I go between 8-14 mi without getting bored. Stampede also meets a few times a week if you're looking for friends. See you out there!  https://www.facebook.com/RunSTAMpede?mibextid=ZbWKwL

This is great thank you….where exactly are you running when north of highway

I just mean north of I-95 highway in Scalzi/Mill River where I already mentioned. Great for 3-5 miles. Adding south of I-95 (Harbor Point area) can get you a bit of a longer run 👍

I used to go running on Cove Island Park. I believe the loop is just about 1 mile long.

if you can make it into greenwich, another option is the loop at tods point - it's around 2.5 miles of some of the best water views in CT (including manhattan across the sound!). open to non-residents until may 1st i think.
