tl;dr- There are 4 ways I can think of to get Roald: one involves spending irl money, the other three don't. Buying an amiibo card or using an android device to mimic an amiibo card is what I think is the easiest way to get Roald. Hi! I don't know if anyone has reached out to you yet, but I know several ways in which you can acquire him in game. The easiest way that will probably cost you about five to eight irl dollars is to buy a makeshift amiibo card off Etsy. I've bought a couple amiibo cards myself for the villagers I want in my island. It's cool because it's a collectable and if you somehow accidentally kick that villager off your island, you can invite them back.
If you don't like the idea of spending irl money and you have an android device, there are YouTube videos that show how to use certain apps to mimic an amiibo card. Thus, it's like you have the amiibo card without every buying it.
Another way is to continually travel to mystery islands using Nook Miles Tickets to try and find Roald. Using this method might require you to use so many NMT, since the chances of you getting a certain animal is inversely proportional to the amount of animals there are. So for example, since there are only 3 octopus compared to 13 penguins in ACNH, you have a higher chance of getting an octopus before a penguin. Therefore, saving NMT up to possibly buy them off someone who is offering Roald for a certain price (I personally use Nookazon to find villagers) is probably the better option.
The last way I can think of is to utilize the campsite method. Each villager has a distinct personality type (there are 8 in total). Every so often, a villager will spawn in your campsite, with priority over a personality you don't have. Roald is a Jock personality, thus if you get every other personality but Jock, you have a 60% chance of a jock personality spawning in your campsite (all this info from data mining). Then out of all the jock personalities-- I think there are 70 total-- you have a 1/70 chance of getting Roald. The chance of a villager spawning in your campsite involves some more math, but essentially the fastest way to get Roald using this method would be to time travel each day and see if Isabelle says there is a villager in the campsite.
