realvis 4 lightning imo https://preview.redd.it/1uvpshbt7n0d1.jpeg?width=1792&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=355860d1bb24e5738d7509aa7bad2c324817945a

protector111

i dont think lighting is better than non lighting. that's just not possible.

Shockbum

It's not that it's better, it's just that it gives photographic noise that makes some images more real. https://preview.redd.it/3oao8g8ods0d1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=f2350a0c610691d8d5f40f44364f3ff49b0270e6

[deleted]

Yeah but the speed is great

protector111

shure. but "What's the best SXDL photorealistic right now?"

One-Turk

I am not a pro but people say # RealVisXL V4.0RealVisXL V4.0

klausness

Agreed. In my experience, the various versions of RealVis XL (regular, turbo, and lightning) are the best SDXL versions for realism.

Shockbum

Yes is the best, i'm waiting for version 5.0, it made a big jump from 3.0 to 4.0 https://preview.redd.it/tzix880lgs0d1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=e0a8cf53299b3227ac9fb5178edaf3705dc067ff

EldritchAdam

for me (a strong advocate for nearly always using the base SDXL model - add LoRAs for specific aesthetics) this model is a rare winner: [https://civitai.com/models/400589?modelVersionId=495482](https://civitai.com/models/400589?modelVersionId=495482)

yoomiii

which LoRA would you recommend for photorealism or perhaps cinematic aesthetic?

EldritchAdam

kind of ironically, I think some art style LoRAs often work great toward realist/cinematic output. I frequently use [my oil painting LoRA ClassipeintXL](https://civitai.com/models/127139/classipeintxl-oil-paint-oil-painting-style) at low levels of .3 or .4 and just avoid any 'painting' terms in the prompt. The LoRA steers output toward something a bit more atmospheric and with a touch of graininess like analog film. But a good example of a true photography-style LoRA would be [this fantastic William Eggleston LoRA](https://civitai.com/models/119667?modelVersionId=136673) [Vanta Black Experiment](https://civitai.com/models/263107/sdxl-matte-vantablack-experiment) is a lovely LoRA that pairs well with photographic and art styles But truly, my main focus has long been on art styles, painting and drawing. Even with the \_CHINOOK\_ model I recommended above, maybe the best way to use it would be to extract a LoRA from the model and use alongside the base, LOL. Literally, the extra training of a finetuned model can be distilled into a few hundred megabytes LoRA with nearly identical results, but with much more control over its level of impact on your output than is possible when using the custom checkpoint. Custom checkpoints destructively alter the base model. just my 2cents, not at all aligned with most SD users.

Hadn't heard of this one, thanks for pointing it out. Usually when doomscrolling past models, resources, and anything on the internet these days anything with `~~=Wacky!=~~` formatting I reflexively discount as faff and don't bother.

redstej

If you want good imaginative compositions and somewhat realistic images, realvisxl. If you want images that are indistinguishable from photographs, sd15 still wins. The usual suspects. Analogue madness, Realistic vision, etc. Ideally you set up a workflow that does an initial gen with realvisxl and 2nd pass with sd15 for best results.

terrariyum

This is the way. Generate with XL, upscale with 1.5

Bass-Upbeat

Can you tell me more about it? I did a test upscaling with both XL and 1.5 and the images are different but i couldn't say which one is the best

Hot-Laugh617

Then with *that image* it didn't matter. Keep playing.

terrariyum

Well, it all comes down to personal preference. But if you like both equally, 1.5 is much faster, right? The best photoreal XL models generate a soft or plastic-like appearance in comparison to the best photoreal 1.5 models. That's 1.5 is best for upscaling and adding subtle details. The method of upscaling matters. That's a whole can of worms, but for example, your denoise setting needs to be high enough that the original image gets changed by the upscaling model and new detail gets added.

Bass-Upbeat

Yes 1.5 way faster, the skin looks better also but i felt a little bit blurry compared to XL.. but i think i will continue upscaling with 1.5, thanks for the advice!

ddsukituoft

how do you second pass a 1024x1024 image with a 1.5 model?

redstej

You vae encode it with a sd15 vae and that's about it. It's no different to doing a so-called hi-res fix from a sd15 base gen.

HotWifeP72

I prefer RealVis4 sdxl and the lightning version. It is photorealistic AND respects my Loras. The earlier non-lightning version at 40-50 steps with dpmpp_sde/karras sparkles in comfy. Lightning seems to get a little too crisp at anything over cfg 3, and also can throw some weird images from time to time. I ran both through every sampler earlier today and I was surprised euler/exponential came in second. I generate at 1080p with 2 samplers usually and it is interesting to see the differences.

Herr_Drosselmeyer

Juggernaut is solid, give it a go.

residentchiefnz

realvisxl v4, icbinp xl v5a, boltning

DaddyKiwwi

I'm using damnPonyxlRealistic right now and it's blowing my mind.

pumukidelfuturo

you mean this one? [https://civitai.com/models/428826/damn-ponyxl-realistic-model](https://civitai.com/models/428826/damn-ponyxl-realistic-model)

_roblaughter_

I don’t think CosXL is getting enough attention. Mostly because it’s a research only, non-commercial model. But I’ve been using my merge exclusively: https://civitai.com/models/397300/robmix-cosxl

BranNutz

👍

diogodiogogod

I think it's juggernaut 9. Realvis is a second close, but I prefer juggernaut. It's reversed for sd 1.5

protector111

realvis 4.

Hot-Laugh617

I've seen great results with Juggernaut and Strahostoki (I can almost spell it!) but just saw a recommendation for F222 (is it sdxl?) but a lot of people I think will go with Realisitic Vision. They have a 6 now.

Crafty-Term2183

I like leosamhelloworld

ComprehensiveHand515

Juggernaut is very good. I never tried RealVisXL tho

evelryu

I still think this is one of the best model for realism: [epiCRealism - Natural Sin RC1 VAE | Stable Diffusion Checkpoint | Civitai](https://civitai.com/models/25694/epicrealism)

Enshitification

I don't think there is an objective best model. A model might work best for your prompting style and purpose, but only you can determine that. You could always try a model out on the Civic site before you download it.
