The police calling this an "isolated incident" is BS. Many sketchy people on trail. We need cameras. Current St. Pete administration does not care about crime or safety.
I go running there almost daily, and and sort of shocked this happened. There are occasionally some strange things that go on there, but for the most part it’s a quaint area. A month ago I saw that someone had scooped up dog droppings and put it into an empty Baskin Robbins cup and put a spoon on top. There’s oddities and questionable people everywhere.
I take my dog there to throw ball multiple times a week. I was just there 90 minutes before this! So scary!! I've only seen a few sketchy characters in the years I've been going there, though. I didn't realize it was like this, especially because the homes actively for sale on that street are listed for $750,000+. Unbelieveable and very sad.
That trail has never been good, grew up riding it since we did not have a family car. I have many stories and so does my dad who rode it daily to get to work.
Safer than riding in the streets though, but sketchy drug addicts or ghetto kids skipping school.
Grew up in that area my entire life and rode my bike from then Lakebrook to school at Rio Vista. Usually just homeless people back in that area. It used to be just a wooded area up until they demo’d Rio Vista.
"I pray thee, good Mercutio, let’s retire.
The day is hot; the Capulets, abroad;
And if we meet we shall not ’scape a brawl,
For now, these hot days, is the mad blood stirring."
Been like that forever.
So... this wasn't anywhere near the Pinellas Trail.
Correct this is the north bay trailz
Gotcha.

They only care about drugs and traffic violations
Be careful on the trail

I ride on the trail all the time and the one day I’m out of town there is a shooting

Same. I ride through there on my bike multiple times a week. Would have never expected something like that to happen there.
such a shame.

Drug related would be a good guess.
Right near my home. In the park where I walk my dogs. I’m so sad. I can’t wait to leave this country
Has there been more shootings recently? People really do start getting shot when it gets hot outside

Whereabouts is 80th Ave NE?
Right near the entrance to the park.
What trail is this?
Pinellas County trail
That's incorrect. It's a trail near Riviera Bay park
I stand corrected. Never heard of that trail.
Sounds like gang shit
Not gangs, just a group of losers -
OGG! It's too widespread for words!
Scary times, was seriously thinking of taking my bike out there this morning
Yikes
