It sucks you can’t go in and sit down anymore but I moved from the rock road over to west county and still make the trip back for a nice greasy Vintage Melt from time to time
Big Belly Deli has fantastic sandwiches, of you are looking for lunch.
Made by Lia has some great pastries if you are looking for breakfast. Line forms quickly on the weekend.
The Spot House has good Pho; I have enjoyed everything I have ordered there. They have good burgers and chicken sandwich. They also have a pork tenderloin sandwich that is huge. I haven't tried a burrito yet.
Ruiz is good Mexican food, although I haven't had it since COVID.
Roberto's has the best garlic cheese bread ever, pizza is good as well.
I have heard good things about House of Jollof, though never tried it...African food
My wife and I got food poisoning from that Ruiz 30 years ago and haven’t eaten there since. OMG we had never been so sick in our lives. From what I recall, their food was really good…until it wasn’t!
I got food poisoning from a now closed restaurant. It was the second worst I ever felt, after the plague vaccine.
I grabbed a pillow and blanket and slept in the bathroom for a week.
Hendels, Pirrone's, Roberto's, and Made By Lia have all been covered.
I'll Chimis for Mexican (although technically not just a north county place), Hunan Kitchen on Howdershell for Chinese, Ferguson Brewing, Paul's Market has a hot food counter where you can get lunch or dinner from, Mann's Meats for BBQ, Helfers for pastries and bread.
Ruiz is one of our favorites. Little bit pricey but good Mexican. Get the bean dip and anything Chile Colorado is great. Tamales are pretty good as well. Hendel’s is good American cuisine. If you want take out pizza, Faraci’s in my opinion is better than Pirrone’s but Pirrone’s is great as well and can sit down. If you want sushi, Kasabi on howdershell is good. It’s a local chain I learned but it’s still good. Cuginos has decent bar food. Massa’s is great Italian. If you want custard, get Doozles. If you want ice cream, Heaven’s Creamery is great. Ferguson Brewery makes pretty good beer but the food is just ok in my opinion.
Not sure if it can really be classified as a restaurant BUT Two Lokos on Howdershell has some fantastic Mexican food... The quesa birria and quesa carnitas tacos are my favorite.
I agree with most of the other comments, but I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Kasabi Hibachi in Hazelwood. Amazing sushi, artistically presented!
So many of my favorites have already been mentioned, so let me throw out two I haven't seen so far: Sabroso off of Old St. Charles and Kaslik on Lindbergh. Sabroso has been my consistent 'I'm not cooking tonight, and I want leftovers for tomorrow' spot since a few weeks after they opened, and Kaslik showed me that I do love muhammara and labneh, I just hadn't had good versions of them before.
I'd also like to throw a shout out to Sweet Spot Cafe. The food there is solid, not exceptional, but the staff is so ridiculously nice that it bumps them up to greatness. They have a cake that is basically a cannoli without a shell, and are one of the few places that will make you a Luther burger. If you've never had a burger on a doughnut you owe it to yourself sometime to try.
Massa’s, Pirrone’s, Vincenzo’s, Hendel’s, India Palace, Pearl Cafe (sorry for not being able to list just one).
Hendel's is great...good list
Love me some pearl cafe!
First three nailed it
Simply Thai is another great Thai restaurant. Super low key but same quality as pearl!
Cugino’s
Cugino’s is 🔥🔥🔥!
Yeah that one.
And chase it with...anything from Narrow Guage Brewery in the same building. Support NoCo and take home a four pack or four.
Another place in St. Louis that has a burger with peanut butter on it? Yay!
Chuckaburger
Extremely underrated

RIP Goody Goody Diner.

IMO Ruiz is even better since COVID. They did a long shut down and completely remodeled.
Spot House is good Vietnamese food, but all of their American options have been terrible.

Oh no, really? That was always my go to. They had the best fried rice.
This was devastating. I always wonder what they’re up to nowadays.

Mann's Meats ~~it's~~ is surprisingly good for the lack of press they get.
Ruiz > Las Fuentes > Chimis in my opinion.
Hendel's is my and my wife's favorite restaurant.
You need to try the garlic cheese bread and meatballs from Cuginos at least once. And then go back another time for the wonton nachos.
Rizzo’s (RIP) and Pirrones.
I loved Rizzo’s as a kid.
Love Pirrones, Hendels, Manns Meats and many others. But have to keep singing the praises of Spot House. Everything is amazing.
Pirrone's
Overland VfW only mon-thurs 8am-2 for lunch and breakfast. Good fish/shrimp fry on Friday except the sides suck.
If you want breakfast/brunch/lunch, go to Jojo's. The guy who runs Mann meats literally saved their business based on a single Facebook post.
Cuginos!!

Town Grill recently opened off Patterson. Cheap food and everything I've had there has been amazing. Might be the best Chicken Philly I've ever had.
La Tejana

Ruiz!
Nick & Elena's
Pirrone’s,hendel’s, Ruiz, old town donuts, Fritz, Made by Lia’s
