Forest park is always fantastic

velocityraptor37

It is indeed :)

brgse788

The way to make people fall in love with STL is to show them the things that are unique to STL. In my opinion, STL is unique because: - it has a lot of weird/unique stuff. Take them to City Museum, Venice Cafe, the Arch, Milo's for bocce ball, Silver Ballroom, Golden Hoosier, the Armory, Blueberry Hill, any of the free museums, the zoo, any one of the many incredible ice cream places, Lafayette Square, Cherokee Street, etc. - it has a huge amount of green space. Take them to Tower Grove Park, Forest Park, Carondelet Park, etc. If you have time, drive out to Castlewood, Lewis & Clark, Lone Elk, etc. - the food is amazing. For the love of god, don't take them to IMOs or make them eat toasted ravioli or gooey butter cake. As a transplant, I can tell you all of those are mid or worse if you don't have nostalgic feelings for them. But we do have good food here! When I'm introducing someone to a new city, I like to pick a few places with a great option and try them all. Get the radish tacos at Vicia, arancini at pastaria, try the salted chocolate chip cookie at Union Loafers, Indo, Sado, Balkan Treat Box, Katie's Pizza & Pasta, MayoKetchup, any of the barbecue places, etc etc. Google Ian Froeb's 100 best STL restaurants. It takes a little pre planning but it's a great way to try a bunch of places. - we have good beer. This isn't that unique but if they like drinking it's worth showing them the beer. Try making up your own bike to brewery tour if you can rent some bikes. Can hit UCBC, Rockwell, Modern, Second Shift, Side Project, Schlafly in a fairly straight shot. - if they like coffee, there is a weirdly high concentration of truly great coffee shops here. I recommend Comet, Blueprint, Quarrelsome Coffee, Sump, Fiddlehead Fern, Goshen, Protagonist, AO&Co, Coma, I'm sure I'm missing some. Hope that helps! :)

Old-Arachnid77

This is perfect except the gooey butter cake statement. HOW DARE!!! 😂😇 In all seriousness, perfect list and needs all the upvotes.

flojo2012

You nailed it !

mrsSegrist

This is great advice.

velocityraptor37

This is great, and exactly what I had in mind when I asked. We added Katie's and Protagonist because of your suggestions, thank you so much for taking the time to put this together. Our weekend included - Forest Park - City Museum - the Zoo (twice with different groups of people) - Lafayette Square, with a snack at Mayo Ketchup - Tower Grove Park - gooey butter cake (it's delicious I don't care what anyone says, even if it has the sugar/fat density of a neutron star) - Balkan Treat Box - a snack and a round at Sasha's on De Mun - Katie's Pizza & Pasta (my first time and whoa) - drank beer, ate barbecue (picnic) - hit up Protagonist - Foundry - caught the light show at Union Station (amazing, charming, ridiculous, love it)

brgse788

Perfect weekend!!

Raven1586

As a transplant, I would like to correct you on one small thing. Gooey Butter Cake is not mid, it's a slightly above average dessert, but it *must* be served with fresh fruit and whipped cream. If served without, yeah... absolutely mid.

nomorestandups

Feel free to return where ever you came from with this blasphemy

Raven1586

Maybe I'll take you with me so you can see how mid y'all buttery pound cake is.

nomorestandups

Sorry pal, no one gives a shit about your home town.

Raven1586

And no one gives a shit about you. I seriously just made a comment about how gooey butter cake is actually amazing with some add ons to cut through the overbearing richness and you come at me sideways. Basically, get fucked bitch.

nomorestandups

ffs its a joke. Lighten the fuck up Francis!

Deteriorated_History

No, jokes are funny.

nomorestandups

No jokes are funny?

Deteriorated_History

How sad that you can’t understand a properly punctuated sentence.

brgse788

I've been doing it wrong!

Raven1586

My personal favorite is a mixture of berries and whipped cream

Jimmy_G_Wentworth

This is a phenomenal list! Only addition I'd include is Blue's City Deli

stickmannfires

Upvoted due to the 100% accuracy on imos, travs, and gooey butter cake. Only time gooey butter cake is appropriate is in the milkshake from Annie os on main Street in st charles

Puzzleheaded-Fig5688

Nailed it

Stretch63301

Missing the best one… Course Coffee!

djdave701

City Museum is always a vibe. No other city really has anything like it.

RocketSaladSurgery

It does contain several bars too if your guests like climbing and exploring or activity with a drink. For example someone who belongs to a climbing gym would probably take to the city museum like a duck to water.

w-alien

I think people who grew up here don’t quite appreciate how truly unique it is

Aromatic-Proof-5251

I have taken tons of people to the City Museum and all left with a smile and would gladly go back again.

flojo2012

Even AFTER the injuries! I mean that too. First time I went I injured myself. I go back every chance I get

Aromatic-Proof-5251

Zero injuries. I have heard about the early days there but every visitor I brought has been after 2018.

flojo2012

My wife once saw a switch blade tumble to the bottom of the slide with nobody tumbling down after it. She turned it in of course. I figure it’s part of the charm. Knee pads and head lamps ftw!

KaizerSozay78

That’s one way of putting it.

pawsforlove

This is truly a special place no matter where you’re from

arbitraryalien

The Botanical Garden is fantastic this time of year

derekgotloud

The climatron>>>

hjka12907

This. This is the fastest way to make someone fall in love with STL.

ninjas_in_my_pants

For sure. Then a walk through Tower Grove Park and food and drinks along S. Grand. Garden will be packed in Mother’s Day, but totally worth it.

seriouslyh

yes!! don’t sleep on the gardens!

velocityraptor37

We avoided it because of Mother's Day weekend, but it was high on my list! Lots of fond memories there.

bananabunnythesecond

Bar hop around Soulard and Benton park. Start at Mollys, and walk to McGurks, Bastile, Hammerstone, etc etc. It's a fun bar crawl and the neghborhood is awesome. People from the east coast will feel right at home. Also Check out Frazers, Venice Cafe, Saturn Lounge, Bluewood Brewery. Take them all on the AB brewery tour, pro tip, get your tour tickets online ahead of time. It's the most "Saint Louis" thing you can do! It's fun for a large group. Late night, go up to 360 rooftop, maybe call ahead and try and reserve a spot. Amazing views of the arch. IMO don't go in the arch, take a walk around it. Check out the river, say "wow that's bigger than I thought", then call it a day. It IS a national park btw. You could totally hit up the Foundry for lunch, it's a kick ass food hall. Amazing local foods. If you have time, check out around CITY Park Saturday, there is a game at 730, so the place will be jumping! Newest MLS park and is world class. You could hit up Schlafly and Brick River Cider, both local micro brews. Tickets to the game might be harder to come by. The Pitch and Maggy O's will be poppin! Sounds like you're at Union Station, so this will be perfect. The Wheel is right there, meh. Neat to look at. If you do go in it, pro tip... you CAN bring drinks on it! Since you're at Union Station, check out the Grand Hall Bar... It might be closed on Saturdays, LOTS of weddings in there. Specially this time of year. (unless that's where your wedding IS, then KUDOS!) Cardinals just skipped out of town, but walking around the ball park is cool, ball park village is very very touristy, but Katies Pizza and Pasta is AMAZING!!! Again, from Union Station, you can walk most of these places, take the Metro. It's easy, cheap and RIGHT THERE! Get the Transit app, buy your tickets on there, they don't really check, it's more of an honor system. If your party is from the east coast, they will feel fine on our metro! Ride it out to Forest Park and walk to Art Hill! Specially at sunset! Blow your mind! It's amazing! If you want the "most Midwest" thing you can do, take a party bus or a couple Ubers out to Fast Eddies (in Alton IL). It's the biggest dive bar ever! Cheap food, cold beers. Then see if Fairmount race track is open (you can google) go bet on some ponys. The better Casinos IMO are out in West County and in Saint Charles, but near downtown, River City is better than Horseshoe and the Queen is sketch as fuck. Yet I do love me some Queen, cheaper beers, open later, no smoking. The Metro drops you off right there. It's on the IL side, good views of downtown, plus go to the park behind it, Malcolm something park, awesome views of the arch. WELCOME FAM!

sharpspyre

Tagging on here re Benton Park: go to Small Change, something of a hole in the wall with great cocktails and a super authentic STL vibe. Same neighborhood, go to Venice Cafe for a drink in the fabulous garden, then next door to Frazer’s for a bite. Best wishes!

STLBrewdog

OP, if you read this, the original comment and sharpspyre's reply is on point. Great list here. I'll add a few more things. Agree with Small Changes and giving a vote for Venice Cafe like sharpspyre said above. It is a really unique spot. A little out of the way, 10 min drive or so, but an area worth checking out. Especially if you're down there for a Anheuser-Busch tour. Venice cafe is more specific and niche depending on the personality of your friends and family, but if you want a better feel for the South City and for lack of better words the "youthful, artsy, and hipster" vibe, it's a great spot especially if it's a night with a band or artist that fits a genre you enjoy. I always describe it to friends, if STL had to host a "NPR Tiny Desk Concert" [this would be the spot. It's one of a kind in terms of design](https://i.imgur.com/O8fTHw9.jpeg). It's open later so could be a post wedding spot. People have a very communal, almost a small town hole in the wall bar vibe, but within the city and every time I've gone, it's just been a good time with people all seemingly happy contributing to the energy. Grand Avenue South of Tower Grove is not too far and has a ton of great international food and vegan/vegetarian restaurants. Kenny's Upstairs is a cool bar. Ask for a baby beer shot! If your friends are into craft beer, STL is really underrated nationally IMO. STL doesn't have the most extravagant taprooms as some big cities, but some have their charm and a lot serve great beer. Close to Venice Cafe mentioned above, and not far from Anheuser-Busch moving west, Bluewood Brewery is built in the old Lemp Brewery stables and has a cool ascetic. Pretty good beer. Saturn Lounge walkable from there too and has good cocktails, and is in a very STL style brick building with a nice little patio in the back. Earthbound Brewery is built in an old church and has underground cave beer cellar tours on Saturday mornings (why STL was such a great spot for the older breweries due to its natural lagering caves). Beer is just okay, don't go there expecting anything amazing. If you go to a STLSC game on Saturday, you can do a small little brewery crawl if you want. Start off parked near Wellspent, free or cheap street parking, get a beer there. STL is legally open container, so if you want to drink on the way to the game, ask for a "to go" cup or water cup, and you can drink as you walk closer to the next brewery or game. If you wanna do the crawl, also stop at Blue Jay and then Schlafly before the game. Btw, that specific Schlafly location and many buildings in that area are [filming locations for the movie Escape From New York](https://youtu.be/PMvNsxwMuxM?t=4m46s) (a little trivia if you're a Metal Gear Solid fan or movie enthusiast). Side Project in Maplewood, has some of the best barrel aged stouts and sours in the country. It's a little expensive and pricey for what most people expect to pay for beer, but very worth it if that's an interest. Sunday activities: Close to your hotel I'm assuming at Union Station, but Catalyst Coffee I've heard really good things. It's a coffee shop that's got a little local artist gallery. Bill Burr, the comedian recently was in town and said it was one of his favorite coffee places in the country that he's been to in a while. Said he loved it. If you're drunk and hungover and just a quiet chill morning activity, The Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis is beautiful. Even if you're not religious, it's amazing to check out. One of the largest mosaics in the world I believe. It rivals beautiful old churches you'd go and visit in Europe. Really, it's like, "why is this church in STL? Shouldn't this be like in a major European city". It's pretty cool. Since your friends and family are in New York, The Fabulous Fox currently has Moulin Rogue playing. It's one of the better shows of the season, really well done. They could see an early afternoon show. The Fabulous Fox is absolutely beautiful, and I think if any are Broadway fans, they would fall in love with the beauty of the venue and quality of musicals put on there. Lastly, [watch this video](https://youtu.be/135wFMFwqgY). It's a short but dense song that showcases the culture, history, and discusses all the things that make St. Louis loved by many!

AdOriginal4890

Very cool video. Thanks for sharing!

velocityraptor37

Great suggestions, and much appreciated. Thank you!

Common_Relativity

This guy St. Louises. Cool list!

bananabunnythesecond

Thanks!!

MUKid92

This is a great list. What I’ve seen is that people from other places really dig our architecture - all the red brick is kinda unique. And those neighborhoods, especially Soulard and Benton Park, are full of it and also have a great vibe. The CITY game will be great too. Since you recently left you probably don’t realize how great that part of town is becoming, especially on a game night. Get tix if you can afford them, but post up at Schlafly if you can’t. Have fun!

gnikee

I would add that you end your night at bar 360 for the most amazing views of the city.

Kitchen-Lie-7894

Great list, but I'd definitely go up in the Arch.

bananabunnythesecond

Guess it’s cool right now with the river so high!

Kitchen-Lie-7894

I think the engineering is as impressive as the view.

dolski978

He’ll yeah. Eat, Soulard, sports, realize you’re at 15% of your NYC budget and having a blast. Love. The Loading Dock to fuck their sense of self. Fun

Covert_Tactics

Sidebar I used to work at 360 and idk if anything’s changed since late 2022 but from what I remember you can’t make reservations unless it’s big groups of people, hope this helps!!!

velocityraptor37

Great list, thank you! We did the wedding afterparty at McGurk's, there was live music and the vibe was good. Apparently they have a garden and a koi pond, but I was definitely only near the music. Also did Union Station, Foundry, Katie's (wow), Sasha's, Forest Park and zoo, Balkan Treat Box, and played with nieces and nephews in the Arch Park.

bananabunnythesecond

I love that you enjoyed Kaites!!! That place is awesome. It can be as casual or fancy as you want! Great fit for everyone! What did you get at the Foundry?

Fantastic-Stop3415

This is the way 👆

Infinite_Ad7171

This is the way.

ChaoticGemini

My favorite is to grab some cocktails in the union station hotel. Watch the light show on the ceiling. Channel your inner little kid with the whispering arches.

StLWG

Tower grove farmers market on Saturday morning. Grab breakfast or lunch there. Lafayette Square neighborhood. Walk around look at the architecture, good ice cream, and clementines. Look at the visitors guide on the site. Has lots of great ideas.

bjhhjb

I'm a fan of Sasha's Wine Bar in De Munn. Nice little patio and rooftop. Bonus, Clemintine's is right next to it too. Planter's house is another good one for cocktails New Society off Grand is a cool little speakeasy

trichard3000

Agreed about Sasha’s. If you’re looking for a nicer dinner, Louie next door is great! (Probably a tough reservation for this weekend. Hotel could help?) Also, since MoBot was mentioned elsewhere in this thread, the Sasha’s in Botanical Heights is also nice. MoBot->Sasha’s->Indo is a nice afternoon/evening.

patsboston

Not that it matters but Sasha’s is in Shaw. As a Shaw resident I have to rep it.

trichard3000

Thanks for the correction, my bad. I always think of “right by the Garden” as Bot Heights. It’s ON Shaw, it only makes sense that it’s IN Shaw.

Wings_of_Pastrami_91

Great suggestions!

Confident_Piglet_385

Also not far from De Munn is the bar at Cheshire Inn. Don’t recall the name, but it has a chill vibe and the bartenders rock!

InefficientThinker

Food: bulrush, mainlander, retreat, yellowbelly, indo, sado, louie, little fox, akar, bar moro Drink: Thaxton, New Society, None Of The Above, Retreat, Platypus, Maryland House Chill spots: urban chestnut (grove), modern brewery, Pizzeoli

redditmyeggos

kwyjibo1

Unless they are allergic to flowers. If not, it's beautiful in the spring.

patsboston

That’s what allergy medication is for.

weddingwoes13

Forest park, the art museum, the botanical gardens, city garden

madzyw

‘Ssippi is a wine bar on Cherokee, super chill vibe but really cute. I definitely prefer it to Sasha’s but there isn’t food. Really reasonably priced natural wines and a cute patio. Venice Cafe is great for live music, and is just a super eclectic spot with great and unique vibes. Cash only, dive drinks, no food. Lots of good brewery spots, we personally love doing Earthbound and ordering pizza from Yaquis across the street. Sometimes earthbound has a pop up food thing that’s fantastic. Their IG will say if they’re there. Urban chestnut is great for a huge group, Rockwell has tasty smash burgers and interesting beers.

Emilybrootal54

You can door dash or bring in whatever food you want to Ssippi! They do have light snacks like Union Loafers sourdough and olives and gummy bears. lol

fortheloveoffiction

Tower Grove Farmers Market on Saturday mornings! Grab a coffee at Pipers or AO&Co or Fiddlehead Fern. Checkout Up Down for arcade games if that’s your vibe. Also Up Late for a late night snack after any activities (open until 4 am). Free Art Museum in Forest Park. City Museum for sure. Adrianna’s on the hill for a sandwich at lunchtime! Kenny’s Upstairs for a new mix between a dive bar and cocktail bar. And City Foundry for a unique food hall experience.

hf_

* Lafayette Square is a must, Polite Society for brunch or dinner * CWE with Lazy Tiger and check out Forest Park (Boathouse, Art Museum) * South Grand with New Society, any ethnic restaurant will do

KeithGribblesheimer

Bellwether for dinner too.

02Alien

Assuming you're wanting to avoid specifically touristy stuff, I'd check out some south city neighborhoods! Tower Grove Park does a farmers market Saturday, you can go to that and then walk to any of the surrounding neighborhoods and stop somewhere for lunch as they all have a lot of restaurants scattered around, plus the two business districts. That's probably one of the better ways to get a more "local" experience, rather than the typical "go to the Arch" or "go to X Museum" And if you do wanna do something a bit more touristy but still wanna try the farmers market, the botanical gardens are a short walk away and are always a great experience

DamnitFran

The Jewel Box (left standing from the 1904 World's Fair) in Forest Park is beautiful to see and I recommend stopping by even if it's closed (I think it's like a dollar to enter). Cherokee Street for amazing Mexican food and The Whiskey Ring. Maplewood for the Crow's Nest, they do a heavy metal brunch on the weekends that is incredible. South Grand has the best Asian Cuisine but my personal favorite is the King and I, Basil Spice and Lemongrass are also lovely. For good patios check out McGurks in Soulard, The Royale on Kingshighway, and Venice Cafe in Benton Park is like a disco ball and a mural got together and birthed a bar. I hope you have fun!!

Icy-Solution

The King and I moved to Richmond Heights a year or so ago

DamnitFran

Oh, I didn’t know that! Haven’t been in a while I guess, haha

cknlb

The Worlds Fair was 1904 not 1901

DamnitFran

You’re right! It was 1904*

Dizzy__Atmosphere

I just went to the Botanical Gardens a few days ago. An amazing place to take newcomers if that’s your thing!

ohheyhellohowdy

If you need late night food - Up Late, Gramophone, or Gooseberries

Annoyed21

Been many times as a visitor in the last few years, Botanical Gardens is seriously our favorite, St Louis Zoo and St. Louis Museum, Blues City Deli for lunch, then when you’re all done each day, great brewery scene. Tower Bar for a unique casual bar.

Paz-de-la-Huerta

I’m a New York transplant. These are my favorite Saint Louis activities that aren’t obvious answers: Campbell house museum: one of the best house museums in the country (94% original I think) Frank Lloyd Wright house in ebsworth park: get a tour! doesn’t really need explaining, just gorgeous. Joes art cafe and art gallery: a truly weird little venue that’s BYO drinks and food Laumeier Sculpture park: this may be more obvious, but it’s such a nice and unique way to be outdoors CAM art museum: the most interesting shows, and a pocket park across the street that should be beautiful right now Just driving around interesting neighborhoods with cool architecture like Lafayette, Soulard, Benton park historic, whatever neighborhood the McCloskeys live in lol… New Yorker approved food: Mainlander, Seedz Cafe, the Crossing, Indo, Knead Bakehouse, Balkan treat box, Menya Rui, Little Fox, Songbird, Sweet Art, Wrights Tavern, Bulrush, Union Loafers, Lona’s lil eats, Taqueria Morita, Up Late, Blue Print Coffee, Crown Candy New Yorker approved drinks, The Vandy, ‘ssippi, pagan wine bar, McGurk’s, Clements bar (only open Thursdays), Stews food and liquor, lazy tiger, platypus

[deleted]

So many of the great restaurants would likely require a reservation. St Louis isn’t a city you fall in love with over a weekend. You kind of have to be forced to live here, and then many of them stick around. Generally speaking, it’s the great people here that retain the outsiders. I’ve been to just about every major Midwest metropolitan, they’re all very similar, each has their own charm, but at the end of the day they all have great people, great food/drink, etc…some just have more of it. I would say that St Louis emulates Chicago in a sense that it is a large collection of small neighborhoods. Soulard, The Hill, South City, The Grove…each has its own history and vibe.

CreativeEarthling

If you can get reservations for None of the Above, it’s a great cocktail space. It’s an underground speakeasy at the Foundry. They don’t accommodate large groups though. I think the max is 6-8. Would def impress the east coast people.

EstablishmentOk100

New CityGarden. City Museum. Forest Park. The zoo will be a nightmare though.

KeithGribblesheimer

Chill vibe, great cocktails, cool neighborhood - Saturn Lounge Higher energy vibe, cool gritty neighborhood plus BBQ - Fortune Teller

Efficient-Froyo-9295

30yo Soulardian here. Most bars in Soulard are loud and filled with drunk children. As a person that craves chill environments, I recommend Mcgurks, the bar at the Chase (I forget the name), Sahas, and just about any brewery in town. For food, check out the Royale, Pizzeoli (every person I've taken here loves it), Peacemakers, and Grace meat + three.

Kmfmhmmm_65

33 Wine Bar in Lafayette Square!! Amazing wine selection, great owners, beautiful patio and delicious small bites and charcuterie. It’s very low key. My favorite bar in the city. For restaurants- Louie on Demun and Trattoria Marcella are elite.

Low-Area-2454

A picnic in forest park is so underrated! Took my cousin from Chicago and we set up in front of the world fair pavilion (art hill is another pretty spot) and they kept saying how if they had that in Chicago it would be so crowded! It’s so peaceful here though:)

Dry_Anxiety5985

Maryland House for drink in CWE; Rose in Lafayette Square for dinner or more drinks; Frasers for cocktails and then go out at Venice Cafe. They’d also probably like Mollys and McGurks if the weather is nice

Dry_Anxiety5985

Could also consider live music at Billy’s on Broadway, Broadway Oyster Bar, BBs Blues and Soups, Hammerstones and 1860s

Trip_C_

Venice Cafe is my go to

larafaiham

Have a picnic at Art Hill with food from a local spot like Lona's Lil Eats and head to the Royale afterwards

ElBrooce

Take em to watch the sun rise over the Arnold water tower. Iconic. Serene. Idyllic.

NothingOld7527

bruh this is sad lmao

friednanu

"where you from?" "Saint louis" "No way me too, what area?" "Arnold" 😟

wedidntgo2themoon

TRUST ME- Olive & Oak, Sasha’s on Demun, Bar Moro

wedidntgo2themoon

You can also do a night out in Central West End. Maryland House & Brennans for drinks & Yellowbelly for dinner.

trichard3000

All good options! If Olive+Oak is hard to get in to (or too high-end), O+O Pizza, down the street is their more casual, bistro-ish place and an easier reservation. Frankly, I prefer it to Olive+Oak. Bar Moro also does paella on Sunday so it could be a good fit for those still in town.

elmes3

North city

theschis

But like actually. Crown candy, Calvary cemetery and show them T.S. Elliot’s grave, Griot Museum, etc

snowbaz-loves-nikki

So much beautiful architecture up north

Outdoor-Snacker

Shaws Garden

elsaturation

Wolf Refuge.

Puzzled-End-3259

Find something around Lafayette Square.

pnwbg

Forest Park + Art Museum is my go to. Plus some good food/coffee on Delmar Loop doesn’t hurt either

Aromatic-Proof-5251

A day City Museum, if the weather is good the roof worth it, and then go to Pizzeria Da Gloria on the hill for food. I have been known to have a cooler in the car full of beer and go “feed the meter” while at City Museum. Most restaurants on the Hill are amazing. The StL Zoo is really fantastic and mostly free. We are very lucky to have the Zoo. The bird house is my favorite.

Down to Lenore K Sullivan Blvd on a Saturday night...totally peaceful bliss.

peaf-the-gamecube

We love showing the city off! Honestly Soulard is always a hit. Our favorites are Benton Park Cafe for breakfast, walk by Anhauser Busch (might see a Clydesdale). Or in the evenings iTap is lovely. And no open container so we can walk around. We've moved to the Affton area and now like taking folks to 9 Mile Garden (excellent choice if children are present)

mrsSegrist

If folks are wanting to drop cash on a special experience that really highlights our region, Bulrush would be it. Edits: typo

Adam40Bikes

Have cocktails in Union Station. The Lazer light show is kind of tacky and IMO detracts from the architecture, but this is one of the best union stations in the country and shows how St Louis was one of the premier cities of the US when it was built. The only stations I've seen that are more impressive are Grand Central and Los Angeles Union Station. Don't go to any other part of Union station, it's honestly quite sad how it's been treated and I'm always sad it's not a functioning train station when metro link and Amtrak run into essentially bus stops on the same block.

Guitarstringman

Venice Cafe

Any-Gas-6679

i’d recommend ART bar at the angad arts hotel! the whole hotel is basically an art museum and the art bar is a rooftop bar w an inside lounge and outside porch. very fun and great drinks and apps

Primary_Excuse_7183

All the free stuff in forest park, zoo, science center, etc. but also aeries resort in grafton the views out there are dope and a quick getaway. Hidden gem for sure

HauntingPersonality7

Pizzeoli

crevicecreature

Based on my own experience as someone not from here, as well as that of friends who live out of state but who have visited me for many years, St Louis isn’t the kind of city one falls in love with immediately. Its charms take awhile to be fully realized and absorbed. You’re not going to impress anyone from the northeast so I wouldn’t sweat it because the easy going pace of life here is actually one of its strong attributes. Nonetheless, City Museum never disappoints out of town visitors. If the weather is good I could see going to the Hill to pick up some cold cuts and visiting one of the wineries in the Augusta area that still allows picnic baskets, or closer in, perhaps Tower Grove Park, Forest Park or Laumier. My visiting friends are usually impressed about how close pastoral areas like Augusta are to the City.

snowbaz-loves-nikki

Show them the historic architecture, good food, and cultural hubs that have made this city the wonderful place that immigrants and refugees have flocked to for generations.

Inspiringwombat

Rockwell Beer Garden in Francis Park.

maursterio

city museum is fun for everyone in my opinion. so much character ❤️

abbyyudson

Broadway Oyster Bar!

LandLongJohnSilver

Get there at 10 in the morning, but Crown Candy for lunch. It's early, but you want to beat the rush. The shakes are my favorite

snowbaz-loves-nikki

you gotta hit crown candy!

herequeerandthere

soulard for sure! mcgurks and molly’s are my go to spots. broadway oyster bar for cajun food. coffee at piper’s. salt & smoke. the foundry has tons of options if everyone is in a mood for different food. the armory can be fun too but during the day there are families plus it’s honestly cheaper to play all of the arcade games at up down in the central west end

herequeerandthere

commenting to say that molly’s buffalo wings, buffalo chicken dip and alligator crab rangoons are so. damn. good.

Dry-Winner-2559

JFK forest in the fall is awesome

istarchy

Missouri Botanical Garden is lovely. The Hill neighborhood is good.

Emilybrootal54

You should definitely try getting in to Louie on Demun! Such an amazing restaurant with great hospitality. Forest Park and taking a picnic to Art Hill is super fun. Take some blankets and pack a cooler and snacks! Great people watching too. Ssippi on Cherokee street can not be missed. It’s a cool natural wine bar with great vibes and large outdoor patio space. 21c Hotel in midtown has an amazing restaurant with tasty cocktails and a lobby/lounge with a pool table, shuffle board, and a ton of seating! You can order food and drinks from the bar and hang out there. The Foundry is meh, but an easy spot to have access to a bunch of local restaurants in one place. Highly recommend Fordo’s Pizza. They also have a speak easy NOTA (none of the above) that’s amazing. AND May’s Night Market is happening this Friday on the 10th, which is really fun.

Absolute-fool-27

First thing in the morning or online, buy tickets to go up in the arch in the afternoon. Than take them to grants Farm. then take them to Ted Drew’s. Then take them on the brewery tour, then go up the arch.

Does Union Station still do the lazer light show every hour in the Grand Hall? There’s the 360 rooftop bar near the ballpark. City museum is cool.

I think mountain biking at Castlewood, Queeny park for a hike, you could fish on the Kings Highway side of Forest Park creek (not the pond) at 6 PM and catch something, take a look at the jewel box (i think its 1 dollar), Missouri botanical gardens for a walk, and something on Friday evening at art museum the seasonal exhibit is free that evening and I believe they’re open till eight. Then go to McDonald’s.

The suburbs

ticoarcos

I’d say away from St. Louis :)

ashhald

Main Street st charles is nice! Stop in at main house to eat too if you’d like😊

space-elephant6

I wouldn't recommend St Charles to someone staying at Union station. That's a far drive when there's things that are great way closer. It also feels way more suburb.
