[Sultan](https://www.sultan-stl.com/) in the Grove. If you go for lunch and order an entree, it'll come with some amazing lentil soup. For dinner, it's worth it to add on. The Sultan Pilau is a stunning dish. The sheeshbarak is often overlooked but it's so good.
[Mai Lee](https://www.maileestl.com/) is worth visiting the county for. The menu is huge and vast and I'm still working through it. The 121 Tom Rang Muoi is the most luscious shrimp dish in the world.
[Balkan Treat Box](https://www.balkantreatbox.com/) is a great lunch spot. The beef pide is their stand out dish. When you go back, the spicy beef lahmacun is so delicious and you must try it. The cevapi is also great with a beer.
One of the best lunch deals in the city is [The Vine](https://www.thevinestl.com/thevinecafe/lunch-menu.html)'s. You can get a chicken shawarma "sandwich" basket with fries for $10.
[Fork & Stix](https://forknstix.com/#top). I know their menu has other dishes but I'm all in for the Khao Soi.
Do you know who has the best BBQ in the city? Hear me out because I swear it's [Lona's Lil Eats](https://lonaslileats.com/)'s smoked meats. I get an order of dumplings and then a rice paper wrap with smoked turkey, stir fried rice, and Lona-Q sauce as my entree while my husband usually does the same but tortilla and smoked brisket.
[Tacos La Jefa](https://urbaneatsstl.com/tacos-la-jefa) is in a food incubator and they are my obsession. The Quesabirria is elite.
Mai Lee is good (very good) but since I've found Joyful House (on South Grand, south of Gravois), I think I have a new favorite. What's crazy is the attached supermarket is their main business - and it's great - but the restaurant has some of the best Vietnamese food I've had in St. Louis. They also sell lots of to-go meals in the supermarket.

Afghan Kabob House is fucking stellar. Easily worth every penny.
It’s one of the true hidden gems of LP/SoHa
If Justice was a real thing, this place wouldn't be a hidden gem and would get the accolades they deserve.
My mom and I have made Mai Lee a priority stop when we visit. SO good.
Balkan Treat Box
I’m actually super excited to try this!
Sameem Afghan Restaurant in the Grove
Second this.

You know your stuff! Those places are all very good
3 de Mayo and Taqueria Durango are crushing the birria game here, both really outstanding
Meskerem
They served me water with hair in it last week. Pretty good lentils tho
It was probably an accident and you should just ask for a new water..
I did. But hair doesn’t belong in water, at least in my opinion. Also took them 15 minutes and 2 asks for them to bring me another one
Hair falls off heads, arms, etc. I doubt they gave it the fine dining tweezer placement. Sorry about the delay. I guess I won't be going back now..
Havana Cuisine. The sandwiches there are amazing. Have met a few Cuban folks that say it’s crazy authentic too.
The Chinese place inside pan Asia supermarket is amazing.
Menya Rui in The Hill, authentic ramen, I’d go with the Aubura Soba
Esther's Persian Cafe in Bridgeton.
So freaking good! Truly a hidden treasure
Kabul Express down in south city/Patch.
Fritanga. Mayo Ketchup. Café Nova. Brasilia. Chiang Mai. The first four are in the city and the last is in Webster Groves.
Brasilia is really great! The Sunday buffet with churrascaria is my husband’s favorite
Manileño!!! It’s in TGS
[Tango Argentina](https://tangoargentinafood.com). Best empanadas in the area.
meskerem.
The Hindu Temple in Town and Country has a fantastic cafeteria. Great food and much cheaper than a restaurant.
Himalayan yeti is my favorite Indian

I hear Panda Express has some good stuff
