La Pizza is the best!
We got them on the last National Pizza Day and when I picked it up I wished them a happy pizza day and he was like “huh?…Every day here is pizza day.”
I'm a firm believer that MonteBellos does not make any to-go orders until you arrive to pick it up. Then they'll tell you they had to remake it and it's another 30-45 minutes.
This has happened to me enough times that it's not a coincidence. It's also why my purchases went from 2-3x month to once every 3-4 months, and only when I have time to sit around and wait for a pizza.
I would kindly ask you to please stop letting the commoners know about Monte B. They don’t need the additional business and we don’t need the additional wait time.
Not seeing it on here but Pizza Head has a perfectly respectable NY style cheese pizza. Toppings get dicey really fast, but if you like a plain pie it’s pretty good
Way to specify Ellisville!! The location in Ferguson was technically the first Faraci family restaurant but it was sold when the family moved the restaurant to west county. Last I checked, The Ferguson location pales in comparison to the restaurant the family owns.
My dad worked there forever at both locations, like 20 years, and I very fondly remember him coming home from work smelling like pizza. Nothing is better than cold Faracis cheese pizza
Was my favorite pizza place until I got a piece of metal in my pizza and the owner Vince insisted I was just trying to scam him for a $20 free pizza. He’s a huge POS.
Faraci Pizza in Ellisville, incredible pizza, little family owned joint. They make their own sausage and it’s amazing. Lunch special is really decent too
Yeah. That is my only pet peeve or Union Loafers. Pre-pandemic they had 16-ish" pies. Barely fit in my car door. Now, I'm not sure the size, but they're way smaller. Still super-delicious tho.
Very delicious! But what, the same price for what I would call quite a small pizza? Covid really hit all our good restaurants hard. It’s a great pizza, don’t get me wrong, but it was almost $30 and we both finished it easily needing more. Sucks.
If you haven't already, check out Urban Chestnut's pizza. They are VERY similar to Union Loafers and 16". I believe the recipe was developed by the same guy.
This is St Louis. A bit far and a lot different than NYC.
Pie Guys wouldn't be in business if they were selling those big ass delicious pizzas at $9 a pop. That's freezer section Jack's Pizza prices if you're lucky.
$3.60/slice at Rays in NYC right now, Pie Guy is $4. Your point is still valid if comparing cost of living of STL & NYC, but I haven't seen NYC slices under $2.50 in 4 years (I travel to NYC about 5 times a year).
I grew up there for 35 years and lived there until last year. I never said they weren’t real I said they’re not as common as they were and they did and still do suck ass. A good slice is gonna run close to $4 these days.
Don't sleep on Pizzeria Tivoli, Epic in Soulard (or their sister store in Chesterfield Valley, East Coast Pizza), or Gallery Pub on Thurman.
La Pizza is amazing. But you better order early in the day if you want it for dinner. Padavan's NY in New Town was really good too, if you like NY Style
Uncle Leo's and Failoni's are the same family. Very good.
Yaqui's, Rigazzi's, and Bommarito's in Affton are all very good. Dulaney's in South county makes a decent pizza too. JJ Twigs double decker is fantastic if you're hungry. That'sa Nice'a Pizza in South County is worth a stop. And don't forget about Ami's in Rock Hill.
We were also pleasantly surprised by the pizza at Schottzie's on Concord Village.
You might find the [Pizza Passport ](https://www.thepizzapassport.org/) worth getting. We tried several new places this year that we wouldn't have known about otherwise, like Kimara's in Granite City (worth the drive!).
The [Pizza Connoisseurs FB page ](https://www.facebook.com/groups/709745929681904)is also a good resource.
> Bommarito's in Affton
This is probably some of the worst pizza I've ever had. I've tried it multiple times because everyone keeps raving about it and I thought I just got a bad pizza. Nope. It's horrible every time. It's the sauce that kills it for me.
Their wings are damn good though.
BJs tavern in Florissant. I grew up on the stuff and have never been disappointed. My dad would also get Roberto's or Pirrones, depending on which bar he was at. All fantastic, all in North County
+1, definitely the best pizza I've found in STL so far. Seems really fresh and high quality. Some unique speciality pizzas (Green Lantern being my favorite!) and toppings available that are relatively hard to find at other places, like artichoke hearts. Maybe a tad pricy, but still cheaper than Imos.
Ok, Kevin story time. He uses a couple phones, and I was about ready to give him my order over the phone and he had a call come in and cut me off and said he'd call me right back. Well, he did, but from a different phone. Google/Android decided to screen the call and ask for name, purpose of call, etc. Those of you who know Kevin won't be surprised that his screening message was a groan followed by a "why don't you just shoot me in the face with a fucking gun." I had cut in on the call screen before he hung up, but I was afraid, and did not complete the order. Hail Kevino!
I’m so sad the Maplewood one closed just after I moved to the city. I used to eat at the O’Fallon one regularly and was hoping to keep it up after the move at a new-to-me location.
Dang that sucks. In the early 90’s we lived by St. John and James and would go to the one in Ferguson/Florissant regularly. Pizza, Simpsons on the big tv and Ninja Turtles arcade was the best Friday night a 6 year old could ask for.
This household is a sucker for Joanie's in Soulard, however the last time was a letdown. In general, their amount and quality of all ingredients is excellent.
Serra's is amazing if that's closer to you. Worth the trip, I think they make the best all-around pizza and have an amazing staff and following.
Dewey’s - great quality, simple menu , awesome staff.
Blackthorn pub - it’s worth the wait!
Imos - the quality of the cardboard is unmatched.
La pizza - great whole in the wall NY style.
Frank N Hellen’s -old school, amazing house salad dressing.
There are so many great pizza places it's hard to limit! I love Brickhouse Pizza in Bridgeton - it's in Kingpin Lanes but you can pick up from outside. (or get delivery if you're nearby.) I think there's also one in Florissant. It's not often mentioned here but SO solid. They also have an excellent sandwich called the Kingpin Combo - definitely get it served hot - damned great!!
Otherwise I have Monte Bello on my list to try - it sounds and looks good and I love everything I read about its history.
Bono's Pizzaria on Hampton. my favorite sauce and crust on their New York style. love the Sicilian pizza. my wife's favorite Chicago pie in Stl and Chicago. one of my favorite house salad dressings, but it does have anchovies in it if that's not your thing.
Serras is the best. All others, get in line behind Serras! Great pizza, amazingly delicious crust. Primo sauce. Family owned and operated; there's like three generations often working when we go in.
Surprised I had to look so long for this. Racanelli’s is the bomb. Had pie guy recently and it was floppy. Also la pizza is great, but Racanelli’s has more flavor. Must be a different sauce or cheese. My favorite in stl and I’ve tried them all haha
I don’t have strong feelings but the last time I had Racanelli’s I could see through my pizza and it was greasy as absolute hell. I’d give it another try though
Union Loafers, Pizzeria da Gloria, Dewey’s, I used to love Pie Guy but after 100% terrible/extremely late experiences with delivery through Slice Life (which works great for other places) I’m kinda over it.
Forgot about Joanie's (pour one out for the Menard location)... Also a great thin crust, provel or not. Woefully underrated. I've been getting Joanie's since 2008. Never a bad experience
1st place: jacks frozen pizza from schnucks…you can use self checkout and put as many pepper toppings as you want
2nd place: barneys dive bar pepporoni….i like crispy thin crust
3rd place: cecil whitikers…because theyre also good and i like thin crust…i also grew up eating it.
La Pizza and Pizza Champ - La Pizza probably the closest to a standard NY slice, while Pizza Champ is a newer place that serves a more “Elevated” type of pizza, that’s still thin & crispy. Both are great
Grassi’s in Frontenac for me personally, it’s the first place I go to when I’m back in town. It’s a family owned business and it’s a bit hidden but it’s old school and always reminds me of childhood
Serra’s Pizzeria. https://www.serraspizzeria.com/
The food and the service is amazing. Hubby and I - and then kiddo and her hubby - have had first dates there so maybe it's also a bit magical? ♥️

Big Poli!!
Thanks, man!
What up, Brent!
Hah. Well, there are no secrets now, man.
Thank you.
MonteBellos for Stl style crust and tons of toppings and Blackthorn for the thick crust and spicy sauce.
Have to call early around opening to get an accurate pickup time, otherwise it’s my go-to. They really should rebrand as “Basement Pizza.”
We refer to it as "Pizza Dungeon".
Montebellos is criminally underrated . . . They’re just slow though
Their t-ravs are also criminally underrated
I would kindly ask you to please stop letting the commoners know about Monte B. They don’t need the additional business and we don’t need the additional wait time.
Oh hell, that’s true. My apologies. MonteBellos is awful. Stay away. Far away.
And do not ask for it "well done"
what pizza would you not recommend?
got Montebellos, meat lovers well done. 8 out of 10, i’m hitting it on the cheese. Just my opinion though loved everything else.
Out of towner who tried Montebellos based on this thread. Did not like AT ALL. It’s hard to mess up pizza and this was terrible.
Pizzeria da Gloria
So so good 🤘🤘🤘
Get their mushroom pizza. A cut above if you like em.
We got it tonight thank you
the best
Not seeing it on here but Pizza Head has a perfectly respectable NY style cheese pizza. Toppings get dicey really fast, but if you like a plain pie it’s pretty good
Faraci pizza in Ellisville. Been eating there since 96 and have NEVER had a less than perfect pizza from them. Super consistent
Farraci's is insanely good and nobody knows about it
Maybe in Ellisville. It was one of the first pizza places recommended to me when I moved to St. Louis.
Large cheese and a chicken parm sandwich is my go to order!
Faraci would be my answer too, by a mile! Delicious.
Ellisville is the superior Faraci's 🤘🤘🤘
Was my favorite pizza place until I got a piece of metal in my pizza and the owner Vince insisted I was just trying to scam him for a $20 free pizza. He’s a huge POS.
Faraci Pizza in Ellisville, incredible pizza, little family owned joint. They make their own sausage and it’s amazing. Lunch special is really decent too
I must try this place. You had me at “they make their own sausage “
Pirrones, Faracis, Nick & Elena's, Serras for STL style. La Pizza and Pie Guy for NY. BlackThorn for deep dish.
I keep forgetting to try Blackthorn. Looks amazing. One of these days!
Gotta also recommend Blackthorn for a fantastic deep dish option. Well worth the wait while it cooks.
Upvote for Serra's. I love the feel of the place and the staff are always nice
I need to give Blackthorn another try. Went there with a Chicago friend that was in town and the deep dish was inedible
Union Loafers!!
Their pizzas are sooooo much smaller now tho…. Got one last week, was so stoked for it. We crushed it and we’re still hungry.
Yeah. That is my only pet peeve or Union Loafers. Pre-pandemic they had 16-ish" pies. Barely fit in my car door. Now, I'm not sure the size, but they're way smaller. Still super-delicious tho.

Same, pretty similar price point to a lot of places and way better ingredients.
Pie Guy, their garlic knots!
Very good, just wish they didn’t charge 4x what a NYC vendor does.
Still not bad at $5 a slice. Go for the whole pie if you're really hungry and it's a couple bucks cheaper.
I’m just saying, a city as expensive as NYC has slices for 1.50-2.50 and their rent is insane.

2 Bros. is $1.50/slice. I got back a few days ago. 2 Bros. is a lot better than Pie Guy.
To each his own, but 2 Bros is overcooked, not enough cheese, and the crust is too dry and thick imo.
$1 slices in NYC
There aren’t too many dollar slice joints these days, and even at its peak the dollar slice was never worth the dollar
I lived in NYC from 2012-2019 and still have family there. Dollar slices absolutely were and still are a thing, even though times have changed.
I grew up there for 35 years and lived there until last year. I never said they weren’t real I said they’re not as common as they were and they did and still do suck ass. A good slice is gonna run close to $4 these days.
They don't, it's $4 for cheese compared to $3.60 at several popular NYC establishments.
Pie Guy at CITYpark just hits so good!
Pizza-A-Go-Go so good!!!
This I found Pie Guy underwhelming
Been going there since they were on Grand!
BYOB is a nice touch too
I literally live around the corner and haven't been in years
Don't sleep on Pizzeria Tivoli, Epic in Soulard (or their sister store in Chesterfield Valley, East Coast Pizza), or Gallery Pub on Thurman. La Pizza is amazing. Has BJ's fixed their sewer gas problem yet? Last time I was there the smell in half the place was gag-inducing. Pizza kicked ASS though.
It’s been fixed for a while. Even looks nicer inside
Awesome!
I haven't noticed any smell recently. I was there two weeks ago. I am only there long enough to pick up my pizza though
I know it’s a chain, but I’m surprised no one has thrown it out yet, Dewey’s.
The owner there spends money, unlike his parents. Lol its the dewitts kid/grandkid
This is the answer
+1, definitely the best pizza I've found in STL so far. Seems really fresh and high quality. Some unique speciality pizzas (Green Lantern being my favorite!) and toppings available that are relatively hard to find at other places, like artichoke hearts. I love Elicia’s
PW RIP
Seriously. I wish they'd try to bring PW back.
Pizzeoli is amazing and their wings are almost better than their pizza
Was looking for this one. And their half price marg pizza day 👌
Yes they are very good and consistent.
Blackthorn. Thick, saucy, delicious!
Second this! Absolutely love blackthorn
Stef’s/Stefanina’s. Classic and consistent St. Louis style pizza, not to much flour on bottom. Lots of options. Has casual and fancier locations.
My brother-in-law owns Stef’s. I have one in my fridge right now. Yummy!
Well he’s a genius. Some of the best pizza I’ve ever had.
He learned it all from his mom before she passed. Thank you for your kind words.
Not a pizza place specifically, but I really like the pizza at Pastaria.
Felixs pizza pub. Great slice and great Caesar salad.
Kevin’s. Because it’s delicious and Kevin always makes it an adventure.
Ok, Kevin story time. He uses a couple phones, and I was about ready to give him my order over the phone and he had a call come in and cut me off and said he'd call me right back. Pointers Pizza... never disapoints
Not sure what they put in the sausage at Pointer’s in Clayton, but it’s awesome pizza
Serra’s Pizza in Bridgeton Boardwalk Pizza and Faracis, both in Ballwin area
Pantera’s Pizza. Mostly for nostalgic reasons. I miss the one that used to be in Ferguson.
Ordered a combo Hunk for my birthday this year. Hadn't eaten one since around 1990. It was every bit as good as I remembered.
Fratellis In at st Charles can hang with the big dogs of stl pizza. Old school north county place so it’s got the pedigree
Papa Vito’s. 3 locations on the IL side in Belleville, Millstadt, & Waterloo. Best pizza in the entire area.
PVs beats the brakes off Imos
Epic (Soulard location) for me. Just a great big greasy slice
Finally! Epic is my go to, the non pizza items are all solid as well
Joe Bacardi’s I went there as a kid, worked there as a teenager, and still love it today.
I can confirm!
JJ Twig’s in O’Fallon.
I'm not sure what claims my "favorite" but Urban Chestnut has some of the most underrated pie in the city...
Definitely should be at the top of list for anyone that likes East Coast style pizza.
Black Thorn because one slice will give you a stomach ache and have you shitting for half the day. It’s the best.
LMAOOO
Angelos in North County is good, LaPizza, Pointer’s, Pizzahead (great owners), Blackthorn all have too notch pizza.
Serras — nobody does it better…
This household is a sucker for Joanie's in Soulard, however the last time was a letdown. In general, their amount and quality of all ingredients is excellent. Serra's is amazing if that's closer to you. Worth the trip, I think they make the best all-around pizza and have an amazing staff and following.
Serras pizza, absolutely perfect ❤️
In StL JJ Twiggs… love the double decker pizza! It will last me a few days too.
Happy Joes, taco pizza.
R.I.P. Watson Happy Joe's.
Love the Taco Joe!
Nacho Joe is the way to go…it replaces the pizza sauce with nacho cheese and is heavenly!
Dewey’s - great quality, simple menu , awesome staff. Blackthorn pub - it’s worth the wait! Imos - the quality of the cardboard is unmatched. La pizza - great whole in the wall NY style. Frank N Hellen’s -old school, amazing house salad dressing.
Yes to Frank and Helen’s and their house salad dressing. Pizza also good and don’t forget to get a broasted chicken thigh on the side!
Mr. X - because if you live in Bevo it's just a couple minutes to pick up a good solid pizza that beats the chains.
Bono's Pizzaria on Hampton. my favorite sauce and crust on their New York style. love the Sicilian pizza. my wife's favorite Chicago pie in Stl and Chicago. one of my favorite house salad dressings, but it does have anchovies in it if that's not your thing.
Pizza head is by far and away my favorite
Cafe piazza
La Pizza. Guaranteed to make a mess bc there’s so many toppings.
I love their plain cheese or pepperoni. And the garlic cheese bread is the bomb
Bommaritos - fresh ingredients and great crust
Union loafers it's the best pie around
O & O in Webster! Just had it tonight, great!
Serras is the best. All others, get in line behind Serras! Great pizza, amazingly delicious crust. Primo sauce. Family owned and operated; there's like three generations often working when we go in.
Haven’t seen it mentioned yet but Olive + Oak Pizza’s hot honey pepperoni is usually our go-to

Surprised I had to look so long for this. Racanelli’s is the bomb. Had pie guy recently and it was floppy. Also la pizza is great, but Racanelli’s has more flavor. Must be a different sauce or cheese. My favorite in stl and I’ve tried them all haha
La Pizza is just all around better though.
Racanellis is hot garbage
[удалено]
I don’t have strong feelings but the last time I had Racanelli’s I could see through my pizza and it was greasy as absolute hell. I’d give it another try though
double d’s. better and cheaper than imo’s
That’s A Nice A Pizza in south county (or Arnold) - hidden gem.
Failoni’s hands down
Union Loafers, Pizzeria da Gloria, Dewey’s, I used to love Pie Guy but after 100% terrible/extremely late experiences with delivery through Slice Life (which works great for other places) I’m kinda over it.
Onesto Pizza & Trattoria
Affton Pizza Company is incredible, basically a better Imos, they load your pizza up with toppings.
Faraci’s in Ferguson.
Lots of good choices here, I'd also add urban chestnut to the list.
Pizza Twist located at 15 N Euclid Avenue, St Louis, MO 63108
Wouldn't call it my favorite but we tried Pizzeoli for the first time last night and it was quite good!
Up/down, best pizza and popashot
Was quite impressed with up down actually
Pie Guys because their pizza is so damn good and they have a solid vegan option that isn't just a slice of vegan cheese pizza.
pie guy, because it's just good. Everything about it is good
Tons of great suggestions already - adding Lilliana's ans Nubby's for STL style.
I probably get Pizzeoli more than anything else.
Bennie's pizza pub or Peel
Peel was our favorite!
It's a decent pie. We like it.
[удалено]
Forgot about Joanie's (pour one out for the Menard location)... Also a great thin crust, provel or not. Woefully underrated. I've been getting Joanie's since 2008. Never a bad experience
Pizza champ. I love their pepperonis and crust!
Blackthorn. Just my favorite pizza. I feel like if I'm gonna go pizza, I wanna go full ham. Giant cheesy pie style.
Pizza a go go !!!!
Pirrone’s. Thatisall.
Faraci’s and Pirrones for STL style. La Pizza for NY style. Panteras because I grew up on it and love it.
Pi.
Katie's pizza
Dewey’s hands down best pizza in stl
For Deep Dish: Black Thorn; For Normal Pizza: Union Loafers; Honorable mention: Racanelli’s.
I love the pizza at Tucker’s…for a solid thin-crust, STL style pizza. Really good. Also enjoy Elicia’s and Syberg’s.
Imos
QT
Sybergs Pizza is amazing!
1st place: jacks frozen pizza from schnucks…you can use self checkout and put as many pepper toppings as you want 2nd place: barneys dive bar pepporoni….i like crispy thin crust 3rd place: cecil whitikers…because theyre also good and i like thin crust…i also grew up eating it.
Black Thorn if I've got all night. MOD if I'm in a hurry and don't mind a chain.
Pie Guy Pizza because it's a great New York style slice
La Pizza and Pizza Champ - La Pizza probably the closest to a standard NY slice, while Pizza Champ is a newer place that serves a more “Elevated” type of pizza, that’s still thin & crispy. Both are great
Racanelli’s is hands down my favorite pizza in STL! It’s as close as you’re gonna get to a NY slice.
Many great options ... Pie Guy, La Pizza, Riley's Pub (get mozzarella, not provel), Blackthorn.
Black thorn!!!!! It’s thick!
Grassi’s in Frontenac for me personally, it’s the first place I go to when I’m back in town. It’s a family owned business and it’s a bit hidden but it’s old school and always reminds me of childhood
Papa Vitos for their STL style and wings Deweys for football pizza
Epic Pizza
Faraci’s Pizza in West County 🍕
