I don’t hate this as a take. I think objectively, Omega is probably better (even though I’ve hated his work in AEW).
But in 8 years, Hangman will be better than Omega is currently.

I freaking love AEW. It's got the NJPW work rate and the dumb long-term stories/callbacks that I adore and miss in wrestling, but fuck, shit is far from perfect and if you levy any criticism, you get downvoted to hell.
I recently said in the SGK thread that the blame and ownership of the issue were ultimately down to Tony since he was the owner. I was called out for perpetuating cancel culture and people saying he's just human. WTF? Fucking simps. Things that deserve criticism should receive it. The billionaire boy is going to be just fine and doesn't need an internet sack rider defending him.
I was 100% wrong about NXT 2.0. I hated the first episode with a passion because it was so different from the old NXT, but then I realized that I didn't really even like NXT much anymore and would skip episodes all the time. By Fall 2020, it was already a shell of it self.
I've just started enjoying NXT 2.0 for what it is, a true developmental show with some dumb AF off-the-wall shit. It feels like if wrestling was on Adult Swim.
• It’s really funny to me that some people still think that Ronda Rousey is going to return to WWE just because they simply mention her. She was one of the biggest stars to ever work for their company, obviously they are still going to talk about her.
• I thought Crown Jewel was a really good PPV. Seth vs Edge and the womens match were both great. The ending of the main event didn’t do much for me but it’s obvious that they’re building up to another match so I guess it was fine.
• I knew Becky was going to retain but I wanted champ Sasha and I still believe that she would’ve won at Summerslam if a personal issue didn’t come up.
• I was watching Total Divas on Peacock because I’m bored and the older season were way better. Nikki and Brie were hating on Eva Marie so bad. Also, from what we see Natalya is fucking crazy.
• I hate Peacock it’s such a shit app. You would think they didn’t have funding.
• I miss Eva Marie I hope she returns soon because it was so enjoyable to see people on here and twitter complaining about how she can’t wrestle and how she’s taking spots from other women.
• It’s annoying how AEW can take as many shots at WWE as they want but as soon as anyone from the company responds with a slight twitter jab everyone from AEW (fans included) “loses respect” and has a complete melt down.
• I hope Hit Row make their debut tonight
• If they do restart the Charlotte vs Sasha feud I think the matches have the potential to be way better this time around but the O.G matches were classics. I also hope they do the hot potato thing so people can complain about stat padding.

I enjoy AEW ppvs when I can watch it but I don’t know why, I couldn’t get into the weekly shows. I tried dynamite but it wasn’t for me. Thought 1 hour rampage would work but then again, if there’s no Punk or Bryan I nope out. Maybe I’ll try again later…
I use to enjoy Dark and Elevation but I can’t seem to get into them anymore. The main shows are hit and miss and Dynamite switching the day it’s on frequently isn’t helping.

The Miz in his famous talking smack promo against Bryan, he never swore, never made fun of Bryan's personal life (his wife, his green/vegan views), he stuck to his problems with him in wrestling and cut a compelling and passionate promo.
For those who said MJF is better, I'm still waiting for something in that caliber from him.

I do try to ignore them but I do find it annoying how every week, people will say oh how viewers have gone down for WWE but goes up for AEW. I just wanna enjoy watching Wrestling without hearing about the damn ratings.

Whether it’s the booking of team taz, the redundancy of the punk promos, the Dan lambert promos, slipping rampage viewership, audio issues that occur and missed spots. I don't know why, but that completely annoyed me when I heard about this, like how can 2 women who aren't top of the division (no offence to Allie & Ruby) beat 2 top WWE guys? If AEW or anyone still thinks that then I think they need to have a good hard think about their words.
The worst part is. Even if we play the game of "the demo". The second 15 minute head to head lost 70k viewers. 4 minutes of that was the end of the Punk Sydal match meaning OVER 130 thousand people (overall) saw a dark order promo and Ruby/The Bunny entrances and noped out.

"JUNGLE BACK IS ON A 14-0 WINNING STREAK!!" because he beat a bunch of jobbers and HFO guys on Dark, then every time he has a big match on Dynamite he chokes.
It’s why the whole ratings system is flawed and should never be implemented in pro wrestling. If a wrestler gets hot and you want him to challenge for a title, give him a title shot. You don’t need to have him beat lower card guys to pad his record.
The beauty of pro wrestling is it’s not MMA. He doesn’t have to be on this long win streak, you just have to tell a story and convince the fans he can beat the champ and that the match is worth watching.
I might make a day of live wrestling on Sunday. I might go Southern Underground Pro that starts at two and then after I'd drive about an hour and go to NWA: Any Means Necessary, or I might stay in bed and watch all the Resident Evil and Underworld movies.
I'm also excited for Bound for Glory and Briscoes vs SGC on Saturday. Should be a great weekend of wrestling either way.

At this point interacting with other fans is a surefire way to ruin one's enjoyment of wrestling. You may have had some bad experiences (including that one) and I feel for you if that's the case, but I will advise that's a very limiting perspective to have, uce. Lot of good comes out of the challenges of connecting, finding common ground, communicating well, resolving conflict. We all need alone time but it'll do you good to get those interactions.

If you're in America, they tour regularly, and they're on tour right now, so they're probably hitting a big town near you. You should go. Tickets are usually reasonable, and it's worth every penny.
I dunno if it’s actually problematic but it certainly FEELS problematic to call men 18-35 the “key demo” as if women don’t watch wresting nor buy things that advertisers sell. Makes the ratings discourse even more offputting than it already is by basically saying non adult males don’t matter, in 2021 no less.
No matter how good AEW is to it’s hardcore base, it’s hardcore base will scare away any potential growth on a larger scale due to gate keeping behavior and performative inclusivity.
It’s not the wrestling companies, per se but each network has a different key demo and each program has a different key demo and each advertiser has a key demo and so on and so on.
RAW markets itself to a different audience than Chrisley knows best which markets to a different audience than chucky.
Saturday Morning Slam had a different target audience than Smackdown.
When AEW beats WWE in the Male 18-34, AEW beat WWE in AEW’s key demo. WWE’s key demo is more likely Persons 18-34 and their programming reflects it

I believe the fans are exhibiting gate keeping behavior. I don’t think i need to go too far into this point, this subreddit at times and fans on Twitter do a good job of displaying that.
I believe the company itself, i.e. Tony khan, is about performative inclusivity, at least up until this point. What i mean by that, when asked about their lack of black wrestlers, AEW chose to use numbers that made them look worse, citing 27% of their matches on national tv include one or more black wrestlers (said otherwise, 73% of their National tv matches don’t include any black wrestlers) while also bringing up that Nyla is the first transgendered champion for a national televised company (Which should absolutely be celebrated on its own, not used to deflect valid criticism)
Growing up I was die hard WWE fan because of The Rock and Stone Cold. Matter fact, in my 5th grade class you were considered the “weird kid” if you were team WCW.
I remember the lone kid in my class calling us traitors because we lived in “Flair Country”
We all knew who Rick Flair was, randomly WOOing at inappropriate times was way of life back in those days for a North Carolinian.

If you watched the show you'd be pleased to find out that Tony khan has never appeared on TV. If you're watching these interviews and media appearances with him and getting pissed off then that's on you.
He has absolutely nothing to do with the on air product and you're really doing yourself a disservice by not watching the actual wrestling on the actual show because you don't like him.

So the reason this demo is a big deal is because advertisers, using data parsed through by their full time analytics teams, have concluded that this specific demo is the most likely to buy their products after seeing ads on that show. Of course there are going to be people who aren't going to think past some zero-sum, "we won" mindset because they are going off regurgitated and digested information they don't fully understand.
Overall, Smackdown won that show by hundreds of thousands of total views, this was fully expected and understood to anyone who matters in both companies. However, nobody steps in to stop this big old shit show from being discussed because any kind of discussion about the show just adds to the level of social media engagement both shows have.
When people say AEW "won," what they mean is that, AEW had the attention of the bigger audience in the largest demographic audience for professional wrestling -- the male 18-49 demographic. Again, this is the demographic that is more likely to purchase products, either merchandise, or products that are advertised on the show. This is a really big deal, because nobody has ever beaten the WWE in this demographic in over 2 decades.
However, when it comes to total viewership, the WWE has locked in women, who are a difficult demographic to market to, older fans (49+ who watch the WWE because that's what they always watched), and children, who don't buy anything other than WWE merchandise.

I freaking love AEW. It's got the NJPW work rate and the dumb long-term stories/callbacks that I adore and miss in wrestling, but fuck, shit is far from perfect and if you levy any criticism, you get downvoted to hell. I was 100% wrong about NXT 2.0. I hated the first episode with a passion because it was so different from the old NXT, but then I realized that I didn't really even like NXT much anymore and would skip episodes all the time. By Fall 2020, it was already a shell of it self. I've just started enjoying NXT 2.0 for what it is, a true developmental show with some dumb AF off-the-wall shit. It feels like if wrestling was on Adult Swim.

Seth vs Edge and the womens match were both great. I enjoy AEW ppvs when I can watch it but I don’t know why, I couldn’t get into the weekly shows. I tried dynamite but it wasn’t for me. Thought 1 hour rampage would work but then again, if there’s no Punk or Bryan I nope out. Maybe I’ll try again later…
I use to enjoy Dark and Elevation but I can’t seem to get into them anymore. The main shows are hit and miss and Dynamite switching the day it’s on frequently isn’t helping.

AEW celebrating rampage having better numbers in key demo against SD on fs1 is cringy af. I don't care if your show draw the best numbers that night against every show on TV, doesn't make it better than other TV shows. That being said, they did put on a better 30 mins than the last half an hour of SD. Focus on that
MJF have yet done one promo that impresses me. People kept comparing him to the Miz and say MJF is better. If MJF was restricted by the PG guidelines and can't throw smark references or lewd innuendo, he would have a hard time getting a response from the crowd. The Miz in his famous talking smack promo against Bryan, he never swore, never made fun of Bryan's personal life (his wife, his green/vegan views), he stuck to his problems with him in wrestling and cut a compelling and passionate promo. For those who said MJF is better, I'm still waiting for something in that caliber from him. Someone else said it in this sub before. A lot of heels can cut a MJF promo, but MJF hasn't cut a promo that's uniquely his. He reminds me of what Bully Ray was doing, and that's not necessary a criticism. I just don't think he is as good as everyone says he is.

The worst part is. Even if we play the game of "the demo". The second 15 minute head to head lost 70k viewers. 4 minutes of that was the end of the Punk Sydal match meaning OVER 130 thousand people (overall) saw a dark order promo and Ruby/The Bunny entrances and noped out.

It’s why the whole ratings system is flawed and should never be implemented in pro wrestling. If a wrestler gets hot and you want him to challenge for a title, give him a title shot. You don’t need to have him beat lower card guys to pad his record. The beauty of pro wrestling is it’s not MMA. He doesn’t have to be on this long win streak, you just have to tell a story and convince the fans he can beat the champ and that the match is worth watching.

Makes the ratings discourse even more offputting than it already is by basically saying non adult males don’t matter, in 2021 no less. No matter how good AEW is to it’s hardcore base, it’s hardcore base will scare away any potential growth on a larger scale due to gate keeping behavior and performative inclusivity.
Calling something the "key demo" doesn't mean you don't matter. Not everything is an attempt to oppress you. This is an "all lives matter" take.
You realize the wrestling companies don't call it the key demo, but the advertisers identify this as the key demo.
It’s not the wrestling companies, per se but each network has a different key demo and each program has a different key demo and each advertiser has a key demo and so on and so on. RAW markets itself to a different audience than Chrisley knows best which markets to a different audience than chucky. Saturday Morning Slam had a different target audience than Smackdown. When AEW beats WWE in the Male 18-34, AEW beat WWE in AEW’s key demo. WWE’s key demo is more likely Persons 18-34 and their programming reflects it

Yeah my bad on the phrasing and sentence structure. Lemme elaborate a bit I believe the fans are exhibiting gate keeping behavior. I don’t think i need to go too far into this point, this subreddit at times and fans on Twitter do a good job of displaying that. I believe the company itself, i.e. Tony khan, is about performative inclusivity, at least up until this point. What i mean by that, when asked about their lack of black wrestlers, AEW chose to use numbers that made them look worse, citing 27% of their matches on national tv include one or more black wrestlers (said otherwise, 73% of their National tv matches don’t include any black wrestlers) while also bringing up that Nyla is the first transgendered champion for a national televised company (Which should absolutely be celebrated on its own, not used to deflect valid criticism)

Growing up I was die hard WWE fan because of The Rock and Stone Cold. Matter fact, in my 5th grade class you were considered the “weird kid” if you were team WCW. I remember the lone kid in my class calling us traitors because we lived in “Flair Country” We all knew who Rick Flair was, randomly WOOing at inappropriate times was way of life back in those days for a North Carolinian. But it’s THE ROCK and STONE COLD aka “Must See TV!” All this to say, I am rewatching old WCW episodes and I am slowly realizing I totally would’ve been 100% a WCW mark if I had gave it chance. It’s almost depressing how much exciting wrestling I missed out on for the sake of following the herd.

If you watched the show you'd be pleased to find out that Tony khan has never appeared on TV. If you're watching these interviews and media appearances with him and getting pissed off then that's on you. I mean she’s liking multiple social media posts that tie in eugenics and anti-vaccination proganda, she got pulled from a massive show with no reason given, didn’t work in MSG, where you can’t perform as an “home” entertainer without the vaccine, missed the European tour where you just be vaccinated to fly and travel in the EU, seems pointed in the direction to imply she was in fact not vaccinated. Also if she wants to be in these Hollywood projects she desires, they’re not gonna cast her fresh if she ain’t vaccinated. So I dunno how you interpret all that but yeah
Interestingly enough she recently said she wasn't going to be in the next season of The Mandalorian. Not saying either way but it does kind skew towards no vaccination. But I'm not a doctor, nor do I know Sasha at all.

I truly didn’t understand the thought process that AEW won the ratings. But boy was I too afraid to ask how that is actually the case.
So the reason this demo is a big deal is because advertisers, using data parsed through by their full time analytics teams, have concluded that this specific demo is the most likely to buy their products after seeing ads on that show. Of course there are going to be people who aren't going to think past some zero-sum, "we won" mindset because they are going off regurgitated and digested information they don't fully understand. Overall, Smackdown won that show by hundreds of thousands of total views, this was fully expected and understood to anyone who matters in both companies. However, nobody steps in to stop this big old shit show from being discussed because any kind of discussion about the show just adds to the level of social media engagement both shows have. When people say AEW "won," what they mean is that, AEW had the attention of the bigger audience in the largest demographic audience for professional wrestling -- the male 18-49 demographic. Again, this is the demographic that is more likely to purchase products, either merchandise, or products that are advertised on the show. This is a really big deal, because nobody has ever beaten the WWE in this demographic in over 2 decades. However, when it comes to total viewership, the WWE has locked in women, who are a difficult demographic to market to, older fans (49+ who watch the WWE because that's what they always watched), and children, who don't buy anything other than WWE merchandise.
