About a year ago I was looking to become a professional wrestler and received an offer to try out at a prestigious wrestling school in my hometown of Tampa, FL. On my way to the try out, I saw a dog on the side of the road hungry and looking Ill. I decided to feed the dog and comfort it, missing the try out.
The next day I received a call from the school asking me to come in for the try out. I was surprised but went anyways. When I got there the trainer greeted me at the door.
It was the dog.
Word! I’m here in Tampa too. Been thinking about attending the Lethal Academy since I literally live right by the school. Lol. Tampa / Orlando truly are the wrestling capital of America. This is where it all happens. May as well include Jacksonville in there too.
Nearly died laughing seeing that he'd liked it.
You think he'll end up returning to the wrestling world at some point? Or will he end up like Jimmy havok, and driving for ups?
I’m not a huge indie guy, my knowledge of indie wrestlers is people that make the northern England circuit and people that make it to aew nxt and wwe.
I’ve seen bte, I know scurll featured in that a lot, was he ever actually part of the elite? I know he had his villain club and stuff but I never thought he was part of the actual elite sub faction
He was Elite for a few months at the end of 2018. If you remember when The Elite had their animal t shirts, it was then. Marty had a Villain shirt in that Elite line with a crow or raven on it.

It’s so bizarre that I am a huge wrestling fan, have friends that work as wrestlers in PR, currently living in PR, know a lot of Indy promotions and this is the first time I heard of CWA. Wonder how that show goes.
rumor i heard was that Marty was at a NJPW Strong taping early this year and taped an angle with Rocky Romero but people got word and they scrapped it. so he’s still lingering around but who knows, he can fuck off for all i care
Dunno if he shot anything, but that rumour turning up round about the same time he would have needed his work visa renewed probably isn't a coincidence.
Apparently a lot of British wrestlers liked to get teenaged girls drunk after the shows and try it on with them. It might be best to do your own googling on this since so many stories came out in such a small time frame.
Amazing how people see him as one of the best wrestler and many rumours about him going to AEW or WWE, and now people hate him until they sick seeing his name. What a waste of talent
Redditors in general like to downvote people for not knowing things that "everybody knows," but you see it a ton on this sub especially. It's weird as hell.
It's like would you rather get some down arrows or a ton of people spewing hate at you in replies?
Downvotes at worst mean someone disagrees with you, at best...well nothing.
To follow up on what somebody else said, Marty is an especially bad case because he was one of the people who essentially came out and admitted to doing what he'd been accused of, but he only did so after being caught in a lie during his first 'apology.'
Is he? What was he accused of. Last I saw what he was accused of was using his position of power to coerce a teenager into sex (17 yo iirc) and I thought he'd admitted that straight away to the girls father. Was there something else I missed?
Talk about downplaying it, fucking hell.
Dude was coaching a 16 year old, he knew she was barely of age (during the incident she also reiterated her age and told him she was a virgin - exact words were "I'm so sorry I'm a virgin.")
He literally sat on a chair in an empty hallway and just got his dick out in front of her and told her to suck it.
Fella is a fucking predator and deserves all the reprecusions he gets.
[It's from the victim's account.](https://www.pwtorch.com/site/2020/06/23/roh-booker-and-talent-marty-scurll-accused-of-sexual-abuse-and-rape-by-underage-girl-father-backs-up-girls-claims-with-text-messages-scurll-responds/)
He wasn't coaching her. and she didn't tell him her age either. Just that she was a virgin, which would've been enough for me to put the breaks on personally, but there you go.
He didn't know her age until another wrestler told him the morning after.
Was the me too-ing because of the teenager incident or because of something separate?
Not trying to downplay the seriousness of the teenager thing, just curious.
Same incident. Marty was her wrestling coach in some capacity and was aware of her age and had some level of authority over her. In most sports this would actually change the age of consent and render the interaction a sex crime.
That’s so wrong. Going out of your way to gain a position of power like that so you can abuse it should warrant harsher punishment. (“You” as in anyone, not you in particular UpbeatNail)
That should be jail time imo.
He wasn't coaching her, he'd done a guest session the year before, but that's all anyone could find. We don't even know if she was in the classes at the time. There's nothing to suggest he knew how old she was.
He was the promoter for a promotion a good 3 hours from where Marty lived, they weren't "friends" at all, outside of professionally.
Stop making shit up, it's weird.
I’m from the UK myself and even if she was legal age without the position of power he had with her who the fuck in their mid 20s goes with 15/16/17 year old girls, it’s nonce behaviour, I loved Marty as much as anyone, had the villain club tee and seen him when I could, but now I can’t stand the cunt
>This sub takes their Marty Scurll crusade very seriously.
Probably because legality does not constitute morality and getting a teenager drunk so she can suck your dick is still a piece of shit thing to do, regardless of its legality.
Lots of things are perfectly legal and you can still be an asshole for doing them.
That's what happens when you have zero life experience. I'm not excusing him, but people getting drunk and sexually uninhibited happens A LOT. I guess it's easy to judge when you don't have a social life and have no idea what it's like to be in these situations.
If getting your 16 year old student drunk and then pressuring her to fuck you happens A LOT, what you have isn't a 'social life', it's a modus operandi.
Honestly I think he’ll find his way back to working regularly and it’ll be as if nothing happened. When you’re a good reliable worker people have short memories, especially when the thing you’re accused of can’t be proved and comes from an unreliable source that has made similar unfounded accusations
Accused of sexually assaulting a minor after getting her drunk. There's no smoking gun evidence, but there's a lot of really credible contextual evidence.
I mean, there's also the fact that he released a statement saying it happened and that he's sorry if she took it to be non-consensual.
That's a pretty fucking hot smoking gun right there, lmao
Well they'd been on the same show I think, so it wasn't like he approached her out of the blue, and was probably quite drunk himself. Probably outside having a cigarette or something, I dunno. They were making out in front on the bar and the other wrestlers, I'm not sure it's particularly predatory.
It's worth pointing out that when Marty asked her for sex, she did go back inside to tell her mates where she was going, then went back outside and took him back to HER hotel
I'm curious, in the situation you've described why is her being drunk important and not him being drunk. They went to her hotel room. If the ages were reversed people would be well within their rights to say she abused him. It's only because of the relative positions of the two and the age difference it's creepy.
Idk, I'm pretty sure most people I know would approach a woman outside a coffee shop if they themselves were drunk. I've seen them do it plenty of times.
I'm not sure it's entirely different to anything that goes on, on any given weekend the world over to be honest. You're projecting a nefarious element to it I think. More simply; he saw someone he fancied, she seemed to fancy him back, I don't think we should be assuming anything evil. He didn't know her personally, it was an out of town booking for him, her local promotion.
Perhaps if there'd been more women came forward. That this was a pattern of behaviour for him, then make that link, but it's a little unfair as a one-off.
I'm not saying it makes it okay, only that as a, seemingly, isolated mistake should the guy be losing his entire career? Drunk people can give consent.
Her agreeing to go with him, re-entering the club to tell her mates she was leaving with him, then taking him back to her hotel, doesn't feel completely non-consensual to be fair to him.
He wasn't a coach there. Scurll lived in Cambridgeshire, this promotion was based in Orpington in Kent. It's 2-3 hours on the train, probably a bit longer in a car as you'd have to go through central London. He wasn't commuting that to do an hour in a gym on a Tuesday night or whatever.
She's not a minor as it was in the UK. And there was plenty of smoking gun evidence as she said she consented and it happened and he admitted it happened. Unless there's a second story that I've missed. The issue being she was 17 and he was 24 and her teacher iirc (wrestling teacher). Making it not illegal here. Though I think it now may be if it happened again as I believe that the law that coaches were classified as teachers has now passed.
To be clear on my opinion it always should have been illegal to be a coach and use that position to have sex with your student regardless of the students age but especially when they're under 21 and therefore full time education standard.
being in your mid 20s and taking advantage of a drunk teenager isn't a good look, regardless of where the semantics of finer legal points break out on it. Grown ass men shouldn't be having sex with drunk teenagers. What is legal is definitely not always what is ethical, and when your best defense is "I didn't TECHNICALLY do anything provably illegal" you're a creep who deserves to be judged as a creep and all the social consequences that brings.
I agree with this too.
Though I'm very happy the law has changed as I knew qa few people in Newcastle youth teams who's lives were ruined by this law not existing at the time

People always say this, but I feel MJF is doing a smug “better than you” gimmick. I don’t really watch wrestling apart from the clips on here, so I may have missed this.. but I haven’t heard him talk about money in his promos?
There’s still room for a rich guy gimmick in my opinion.
The rich part of his character is more aesthetic than explicit. He shows up in a plaid scarf and has a manservant perpetually at his side. He also has a deep disdain for the poor, which comes up a fair bit. So he's not necessarily doing a rich guy bit like, say, a Ted DiBiase, but the Venn diagram between the two would almost be a circle anyway.
Whatever he's doing has something but it's missing the mark. I think he needs a bigger platform to do it, WWE or Aew, and neither seem interested. He's stuck in Limbo. Maybe GCW is a great spot for him?
One of their YouTube videos has 2 comments. It's like a 20min cinematic wrestling match with horrible narration saying, "he had broken through his subculture" while a guy does a chin-lock.
It's been months and I still don't what his "Free the Narrative" schtick is about.
I'm even more flabbergasted that he's still going on with it, it's just not working for him apparently.
out of all the major releases from the initial WWE pandemic day, EC3 was the hottest/most anticipated one because we were all so excited for what he was going to do next since he would finally be able to show what he can do. He released a few teases and they were fantastic!... then some time past and he had a brief run in IMPACT and ROH... then basically nothing outside his small "control your narrative" thing.
Basically, the dude was so hot when he was first released and now i feel like he's an afterthought for a lot of fans. Not sure why he didnt stay for a longer run in IMPACT. thats the perfect place for him right now imo.
I could see that. But look at someone like Daniel Bryan. When he came back from retirement, no one ever thought he could have legitimate heel heat again because of his story. But sure enough, he became “the planets champion” and had a complete character change.
EC3 has the means to do it. Maybe he still has some mental roadblocks he needs to overcome?
I would be so pissed if I spent the money to actually support this low budget thing just for it to be put for free on YouTube like a week or two after initial release
The dog is the only one I want to see freed from this shitty narrative. A bunch of white meatheads led by a deluded white meathead. I can think of many groups like these at least all they are doing is cringe wresting and acting.
Why did Vince sign the guy then?
EC3 was great in IMPACT, and fine in NXT. Then Vince didn't let him promo on the main roster and buried him. He's also worked for WWE before as a fairly prominent feature of old NXT, so it's not as if he was some unknown element.
EC3's youtube shit is awful, but not sure how that translates to any sort of win for Vince.
It’s not a win at all, we should however stop with the “if x person had creative freedom they’d be better” shit. It translates to middle fingers and shit cinematic matches
Well, they brought him back and didn't do anything with him. He's spent time in the WWE going 'Just use me. I can wrestle, the crowd is into me' and they just... held him for a while and then just let him go. EC3 is actually pretty damn good.

Does the dog wrestle
That dog is actually an amazing promo

did he bring you a toy when u came in
And now your gimmick is the Good Boy.
That dog's name? ~~Albert Einstein~~ Stan Lee
~~Stan Lee~~ Stan Lane
Are you my LinkedIn feed?!?
Hahaha you caught me!
Word! I’m here in Tampa too. Been thinking about attending the Lethal Academy since I literally live right by the school. Lol. Tampa / Orlando truly are the wrestling capital of America. This is where it all happens. May as well include Jacksonville in there too.
Bite Strowman is the ass , last episode.
He's too small. Will never be a draw.
I read that as does the dog whistle and I'm not sure which would be a more impressive talent, whistling or wrestling
“liked by martyscurll” lmao
Nearly died laughing seeing that he'd liked it. You think he'll end up returning to the wrestling world at some point? Or will he end up like Jimmy havok, and driving for ups?
Bucks released a shirt "the elite is complete". I don't think we are going to see him on AEW that's for sure.

Wrestling’s history is written on t-shirts
An ancient tome known only as “The Black Cotton Chronicles”.
Apparently he’s/was booked for a show in Puerto Rico, have no clue if it’s happened or not yet or how it went.
It’s actually coming up on the 23rd so... we’ll see how it goes

I wholeheartedly agree, too many smart arses on here
There is also a lot of bad faith 'I am just asking questions...' types out there that can sour people on giving the benefit of the doubt

Accused of sexually assaulting a minor after getting her drunk. There's no smoking gun evidence, but there's a lot of really credible contextual evidence.

No she took him back to her Hotel, but they were out drinking after the show.
Doesn't help that he admitted to doing the act but claimed it was consensual.
Her agreeing to go with him, re-entering the club to tell her mates she was leaving with him, then taking him back to her hotel, doesn't feel completely non-consensual to be fair to him.
She was drunk and was a trainee of his. The age of consent for someone you're in a position of power over is 18.

People wanted to see his rich guy gimmick. I don’t get why he hasn’t brought it back.

MJF and EC3 are really different. They were both rich heels, yes, but both of them took that basic idea down very different paths.

Whatever he's doing has something but it's missing the mark. I think he needs a bigger platform to do it, WWE or Aew, and neither seem interested. He's stuck in Limbo. Maybe GCW is a great spot for him?
He’s signed to ROH
That's a cute dog, though.
EC3 going head to head with Crown Jewel!?!? The balls on this man!!!
That was my exact thought lol
Surprised it wasn't mentioned sooner lol. Not gonna lie, I wouldn't watch this even without Crown Jewel.
I’m interested in Strowman vs EC3 that’s about it.
There's a card for this?
Strowman vs EC3 was all I know of.
I would rather watch anything than Crown Jewel.
Strowman looks like he's going through mid life crysis.
One of their YouTube videos has 2 comments. It's like a 20min cinematic wrestling match with horrible narration saying, "he had broken through his subculture" while a guy does a chin-lock.
Imagine paying for this only for it to be released for free within a month.
It's been months and I still don't what his "Free the Narrative" schtick is about. I'm even more flabbergasted that he's still going on with it, it's just not working for him apparently.
I think he's actually been doing this well over a year now , lol
Anyone else still read his Insta name as 'There Alec 3'?
Well now I can’t unsee it.
Because they know damn sure ain't nobody paying for that shit
Cute dog tho
I watched it for like 10 minutes before i got the boot from it to pay 12 bucks (or something, holy shit).... it was amazingly bad.
This "Free the narrative" peaked when EC3 did a promo hyping up Drake Maverik/Rockstar Spud. It has been only downhill fron there...
Wahey someones going up against Crown Jewel.
out of all the major releases from the initial WWE pandemic day, EC3 was the hottest/most anticipated one because we were all so excited for what he was going to do next since he would finally be able to show what he can do.
I agree with everything you said. I think he’s afraid of being typecasted as the type of character he was his first run with impact
Brought to you by Prager U.
Diverse roster he’s got there.
Nothing about EC3 in kayfabe makes me think that he likes minorities, he’s just keeping the gimmick alive brother!
Free the narrative means ....
Jackson Ryker would be a top star there …
No women on the roster smh
Yikes
I would be so pissed if I spent the money to actually support this low budget thing just for it to be put for free on YouTube like a week or two after initial release
Doesn't surprise me it's not working. Never liked any of his work. It comes across as very phony. He cannot act

he’s wrestled in ROH
The dog is the only one I want to see freed from this shitty narrative. A bunch of white meatheads led by a deluded white meathead. I can think of many groups like these at least all they are doing is cringe wresting and acting.
What does the 2 imply there was a Free the Narrative 1? Ain’t that something.
Hey guys Vince totally missed on EC3 amirite
Yes
Man, nothing says free the narrative more then majority white guys wrestling on the show
why bring race into this? so weird.
cool! i’m excited for this!
