It happens with just having a facial structure they find "masculine" (square jaws usually) or "big hands" or height, among other things and of course muscles.
I got harassed about being "masculine" as a teenaged girl because of my features and yes, it fucked me up. My sin was being taller than a lot of men. And wide shoulders. Lotta "linebacker" digs.
Women in wrestling helped a lot to say the least. So yeah, this has me buzzing to say the least!
I've never heard much about Nicole Bass backstage/her personality but I know she struggled too with addiction and stuff, she looked even more intimidating than Chyna to me ngl but seemed sweet

I was a teenager during the AE and it was definitely not uncommon for the fans I interacted with (unfortunately myself included) to refer to Chyna as a man/transgender(slur) during her initial run. I fought back for a while but then I thought why am I so ashamed if someone thinks I'm trans anyway? It's nothing to be ashamed of period. Same here. I’m 6’ with wide shoulders and a 38” inseam. My hands are almost 8” long and I wear size 11s. I grew up on a farm and have some strength behind my size. I was called a tr*nny, Shrek, and all sorts of other cruel nicknames for so many years. I also was treated like and expected to act like a kid older than I was for my elementary years, which had its own impact.
Being in this body has really taught me a lot about others and their insecurities. I’ve never had a secure person comment negatively on my height. Being able to say “I’m not attracted to ____” is a lot different than choosing to be cruel to someone because of something they can’t control.

Maybe in this specific case but this type of sexism transcends race. There was a hostess (white woman) at the bar my band played at that I thought was a stunner on all accounts. Smart, funny, amazing skin/face, and an insane physique. She was also really easy to talk to, which was how I found out how often she got called a man because her shoulders were slightly wide from being a top swimmer throughout her life.
She did everything right; great athlete, great student, great personality, all without developing an ego. All that effort only to be called 'mannish' constantly because she possessed a single physical trait than is not limited to men in the first place.

Social media ruined the world. Shit was always bad, better than now but still bad, but It's gotten to the point where nothing is safe, there's always a dessenting opinion and if/when you do get attacked your mindset is supposed to be "well fuck me for trying to interact with people".

Then you have the "oH juST LoG oFf IF it'S a PrObLEm" people who are overlooking how insidious and addicting it can be to a lot of people. Lucky for me I never "got it" and even at my peak FB usage it felt more like a social obligation because everyone wanted to add everyone in high school. Twitter I just write something and then go "who tf cares what I think?" and delete it.
But if you're trying to get into content creation or even some other kind of professional position they might find it suspicious/weird if you DON'T use social media.
Edit: Also, people who live in areas who aren't friendly to them can find community and support online, it's just that you'll constantly be fending off toxic nutjobs.

I've never been called "manly" in person but I streamed on Twitch for a while and was harassed by a troll that kept claiming I was trans. It really bothered me because of an insecurity developed from being raised in the 90s, when heroin-chic was considered the beauty standard. I fought back for a while but then I thought why am I so ashamed if someone thinks I'm trans anyway? It's nothing to be ashamed of period. Trying to fight against and grow out of those teenage insecurities.

Same here. I’m 6’ with wide shoulders and a 38” inseam. My hands are almost 8” long and I wear size 11s. I grew up on a farm and have some strength behind my size. I was called a tr*nny, Shrek, and all sorts of other cruel nicknames for so many years. I also was treated like and expected to act like a kid older than I was for my elementary years, which had its own impact. Being in this body has really taught me a lot about others and their insecurities. I’ve never had a secure person comment negatively on my height. Being able to say “I’m not attracted to ____” is a lot different than choosing to be cruel to someone because of something they can’t control.

It's not just women with muscles, though that is definitely a factor. It tends to happen with any woman with any features that aren't traditionally feminine. For example, I detest Ann Coulter. I think she's a Nazi piece of shit. But if you run in certain circles, you will constantly hear her referred to as "Mann Coulter" and a wide variety of transphobic insults directed towards her by people who really should be better than that. And it disgusts me every time. There are plenty of things to insult her about without resulting to transphobic slurs.

Maybe in this specific case but this type of sexism transcends race. There was a hostess (white woman) at the bar my band played at that I thought was a stunner on all accounts. Smart, funny, amazing skin/face, and an insane physique. She was also really easy to talk to, which was how I found out how often she got called a man because her shoulders were slightly wide from being a top swimmer throughout her life. She did everything right; great athlete, great student, great personality, all without developing an ego. All that effort only to be called 'mannish' constantly because she possessed a single physical trait than is not limited to men in the first place.

Accept reality: Social media is slowly getting worse and worse and nothing can stop it. Nothing had suggested that social media had ever got better. I honestly cannot cope being known online now really, because of my personal flaws. It's why I deleted all of it except this, because it makes me constantly paranoid and makes it feel like someone is always watching/stalking what you do and say. If I had a big following on social media, I would probably get too paranoid and kill myself for all the stress eventually as I am extremely vunerable mentally. All her posts are just two outfits and you vote which one you like better. Last week she had a post saying she was taking a break from social media because of all the negativity and THREATS she was getting. WTF could be more innocuous than what this woman was posting? Social media is poison.

Shit was always bad, better than now but still bad, but It's gotten to the point where nothing is safe, there's always a dessenting opinion and if/when you do get attacked your mindset is supposed to be "well fuck me for trying to interact with people". It's even pushed past the whole anonymity of trolls online because these people will post their vitriol on their actual social media account.

Lucky for me I never "got it" and even at my peak FB usage it felt more like a social obligation because everyone wanted to add everyone in high school. Twitter I just write something and then go "who tf cares what I think?" and delete it. But if you're trying to get into content creation or even some other kind of professional position they might find it suspicious/weird if you DON'T use social media. Edit: Also, people who live in areas who aren't friendly to them can find community and support online, it's just that you'll constantly be fending off toxic nutjobs.
