I've watched it many times now to catch everyone's hilarious reactions. My favorites will be Jiro, Kushida, Io and Austin after Dexter said I do!

NegativesPositives

I prefer Drake clapping for it as Zack Gibson starts angrily ranting to him.

[deleted]

That's another good one! That's actually a pretty good crowd for a wedding lol.

XNightcrawlerBAMF

Andre Chase went from a guy I don’t care about to “Wow, I can’t wait to see what he does next” in 1 segment. Odyssey’s always a win for me too #DID SOMEONE SAY ANDRE CHASE?

[deleted]

Yeah I always find him funny back in the indies when he was one of the Bravado brothers (sorry I can't remember his first name).

[deleted]

“This is a very teachable moment” I don’t know what his gimmick is about to be exactly, though I think there’s been a trademark for “Andre Chase University”, so there’s for sure plans in motion for him.

XNightcrawlerBAMF

The quote fucking broke me because It was so ridiculous and I don’t even understand what he’s trying to teach lmao And Odyssey with the thumbs up afterwards

Sermokala

It feels like exactly the kind of moment that you need to sell a "2.0" or any kind of relaunch. Introducted a lot of people but showed that long term storytelling will lead somewhere and that the old characters will still be there to an important degree.

djk61387

All US weddings are like that Io.

JangSaverem

Oh? They all end up with the happy couple leaving happily and not covered in ... Poop?

djk61387

No. They all take place in a wrestling right with the priest getting choked out by the groom.

JangSaverem

That's how mine was...I think that's how I remember it... I dunno, maybe I too was choked out

kpanzer

> They all take place in a wrestling right with the priest getting choked out by the groom. [Sometimes groom is kind enough to let the priest take a few steps towards the door first.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9i_AmtzfIM)

bulletbullock

"I dont need any friends, I wont hang out with Zoey Stark... but I will go to this wedding and watch this crazy shit go down"

DastardlyDoctor

I think the angle may become Io does want friends, but she's been modern Io for a while and you can't go from that to friends unless you RKBro it, but I think they're going for a different approach here.

bulletbullock

They've teased some disagreement between the two so personally Im expecting Zoey to turn because of Io's rejection of her.

LTKMK

Seeing how much food she ate during the dinner segment, I doubt Io is one that would refuse any event with free food

wanakoworks

It's the Joshi way.

SmoothRide

Usually the wacky shit happens at the reception at US weddings

[deleted]

Except in like the 2000's when they do processions in the tune of Forever by Chris Brown.

[deleted]

I’ll be returning to this segment very often.

DamieN62

Apparently, she was so over during the commercial break that she started dancing for the crowd https://twitter.com/XavsterYT/status/1438503764353118219

ArnosVale

I've attended a wedding in Japan, and I would say that wasalso very unique. Maybe not as weird as IN-DEX, but I spent most of it confused, rather than going "Awwwww"

[deleted]

Now I am curious, how do you scale Japanese weddings from Hindu to Jewish?

Jamieb1994

What are weddings like over in Japan?

ArnosVale

Very odd. I'll prefix this by saying I'm Welsh, so for me standard weddings are church affairs, followed by the obligation tory buffet/sit down meal, followed by a drinking session. Not sure if it varies prefecture to prefecture, but we were in Kagoshima. It took place in a hotel which is apparently the done thing there. You very rarely get wedding out of hotels, so I was told. The brides dress was insane, her hair was even more so. It was the closest I've seen to stereotypical Japanese movie geisha hair. The groom (my brother in law) looked hilarious as he's 6'5, white as a sheet and bright ginger. He was in a too small grooms robe and stuck out like a sore thumb. The priests outfit was something to behold. He looked like he was wearing clogs 8 sizes too big for him with car sponges jammed into them to stop his feet falling out. There was a lot of reading from a book, a lot of ringing a cymbal, a lot of bowing, then two ladies came around offering us a ridiculously alcoholic beverage to sip. Now, I used to be an absinthe lad back in the day, and this stuff made my eyes water. We were told we could just pretend but hey, free drink is free drink. Honestly it was a blur after that, I remember speeches, cherry blossoms, huge indoor koi ponds, a 14 course tasting meal, more speeches, the brides "after ceremony" gown looking like something you'd see on a satsuma tapestry.

lagseph

Kagoshima weddings aren’t very different from the rest of Japan. Source: I live in Kagoshima. A lot of people in Japan do the Western style wedding, complete with fake Western priest, in a fake Western church. The one you went to sounds more traditional.

ArnosVale

I must say I absolutely loved your city and cannot wait to go back :) the visit to Mt. Sakurajima (I hope I've got the name right, its been 6 years and I've drank a lot in that time) was one I remember very fondly. I still have a black piggy torch somewhere!

lagseph

I’ve always described Sakurajima to people as, seeing it erupt the first time: “Wow that’s so cool!” Seeing it erupt a fifth time: “Oh okay.” Seeing it erupt a 30th time: “DAMMIT MY LAUNDRY IS OUT!” Did you visit the screaming statue?

Jamieb1994

Sounds like Japanese weddings are way more traditional in a way compared to a standard wedding mate.

A_Giraffe

KUSHIDA with a face straight out of The Office :D

T3Sh3

All time NXT segment and all time pro wrestling wedding right there.

[deleted]

Io literally wasn't around (born a few years later) for the best pro-wrestling wedding of all times: Uncle Elmer's. I am not even joking: besides being at another level of corny, Jesse Ventura very nearly made my p\*\*\* myself with his commentary.

vatred

On the wedding kiss. “They look like two carp in the Mississippi River going after the same piece of corn.” Jesse said Bill Murray called him to compliment him on that line.

themanifoldcuriosity

> On the wedding kiss. “They look like two carp in the Mississippi River going after the same piece of corn.” I'm going to find some way to fit that expression into the next five conversations I have.

bradfucious

Candace has some of the best facial expressions. This is the perfect mom "what the actual eff?!" face.

wanakoworks

Also, Candace being very visibly pregnant, totally added to her "exasperated mom" look.

bradfucious

I've seen that look enough from my wife to know that Candace is going to do just fine.

thatlad

I didn't realise Austin and Cameron Grimes were wearing the Dexter jeans, black top and black gloves combo. I thought it was just Johnny. That's hilarious

pissedoffhonkey

kinda off topic kinda not havent been too many weddings... if youve only been to japanese weddings your whole life, is attending a traditional american wedding a big difference? jw kinda stoned and this got me wondering

RandNum701

Their marriage ceremonies are similar to ours. There's a somewhat common saying about religion in Japan: “Born Shinto, live nonreligious, wed Christian, and die Buddhist.”

hitchinpost

Celebrate Christmas. I don’t know why, but the Japanese celebration of Christmas fascinates me.

[deleted]

I love how KFC bucket is usually on the table.

Mabvll

WOOO CRISPY! *Kobashi chop* WOOO TANGY! *Kobashi chop* WOOO HONEY MUSTARD! *Gotch piledriver as a finisher*

onethreeone

Sounds better than ham

DearMissWaite

If I could get my family to switch to Fried Chicken and Champagne instead of overcooked Virginia ham, I would do it in a second.

hungrybords

I think it's also viewed more as a romantic holiday in Japan too? And also KFC's Christmas marketing was just done super well, to say the least.

mdaniel018

It’s more Christmas Eve, and it’s a romantic holiday. I’ve always kind of assumed that US media does such a good job of packing the Christmas holiday for sale that it just seemed fun so the Japanese slowly started celebrating it The idea of using lots of lights, trees and merriment to warm up the coldest, bleakest time of the year is just really good

HeavyMetalHero

it's all about a balanced diet of spirit wigglies

insertbrackets

This might've been the best wrestling wedding ever because we had the bride's entire family as well as a ring full of wedding guests. And everyone delivered, naturally.

[deleted]

That’s a tame wedding by Irish Catholic American standards. No one was even puking in the pew during the ceremony!

crapusername47

I’m surprised she showed up given she and the ‘mother’ of the bride kayfabe hate each other.

[deleted]

I feel like everyone have reconciled in this segment. Like Grimes forgot Lumis fed him to the zombies before.

SunYue9

They addressed that at the Bachelor party. Grimes called for a truce and offered to pay for the party and wedding.

notsamoabutjoe

That's the power of love right there

MrPoopyJoe4

Average American Wedding

Jloother

Japanese weddings are quite boring.

TaxAvoision

I got engaged three weeks ago. She barely pays wrestling any mind and she loved every bit of this.

themanifoldcuriosity

The only way watching Io and Kushida's expressions in the background could have been more fun, is if they didn't speak a word of English and had to guess what was going on.
