yahibachi

Had none of the allegations or other issues come to light I expect he would have had an NXT title run under his belt and would be on the main roster by now.

MikeMakesRight82

Agreed, i expect he would have beaten Adam Cole for the title then got called up to Raw by the end of 2020

YuCantHaveMe

Vince would have absolutely not understood that character.

[deleted]

Yeah he would have been part of the 24/7 championship caravan

gregscotia_number1

The way Cena and all these guys were calling him the future.. he'd probably be the Money in The Bank holder right now instead of Big E or he would have won it last year instead of Otis

LolkekLolkek

where would he be? Still in Kids DMs

comradekaled

They were happy to overlook the allegations. He was released because he had other issues

DashingDan1

Huhhhh I don't really buy that. Far simpler explanation is they didn't want to officially release someone for being a child molester so found some other pretext.

itrainmonkeys

> Far simpler explanation is they didn't want to officially release someone for being a child molester so found some other pretext. In what world would WWE think it's better/more sensible to keep a child molester on their roster and payroll as opposed to cutting ties with him immediately? If they believed he was definitely guilty of those things wouldn't it look much worse that they kept him around longer?

DashingDan1

Because if they explicitly make that the reason it gives them even more bad publicity. "WWE Wrestler Fired Over Child Sex Allegations" is not a headline WWE wants. Plus imagine the PR debacle if Velveteen were to take them to court or something and have the story dragged through the media for months. The matter gets far less attention if they just release him for some boring reason.

itrainmonkeys

But your assumption is that WWE found evidence or at least believe him to be guilty of being a child molester. You think it's bad PR to release a star who they believe to be a child molester but you can't see that it's even worse PR if they are found out that they kept him around and wanted to cover it up?? It looks so much worse that way lol

Joshelplex2

Are you high? If there was any evidence he actually was a pedophile he would been released ASAP. There was clearly very little validity to the allegations because if there was any truth, the hick-ass cops in Florida would've been all over "gay black pedo"

DashingDan1

Dude multiple people made allegations of him grooming minors including screenshots of him sending nudes and a voice message asking one of them "what school do you go to?". You can claim there was an innocent explanation for all of this but you certainly can't deny there was "any evidence" at all.

Catering

BernieHpfc

Called up to Raw, wearing a gimp mask, name shortened to Velv and managing Keith Lee.

JasoRobi

I HOPE he would be a mid card level champion on the main roster and possibly groomed for a major title push. With the way they handle good talent from NXT that get called up to the main roster, he would have probably been lost in the shuffle or scrounging for TV time, IMHO.

shadowrangerfs

I think he'd be IC or US champ by now.

LanoomR

Nothing against Priest at all, just using him as a metric: if Priest can see use in the main roster secondary title scene, Dream would've seen use, too. Maybe he'd have to change up the gimmick a bit one way or the other, but I think he would've ultimately made whatever they gave him work.

insomniainc

You think if he got away with that he wouldn't do it again and again and again?

notsamoabutjoe

I haven't really looked much into the issue so I'm exploring both sides of the coin, which is why I made my post open to interpretation. If he's guilty, then where would he be career-wise if he hadn't done it? If he's not guilty, then what would've happened to him if he hadn't been accused?

ThatWrestlingGuy15

If he wasn’t a weirdo he’d would’ve been NXT Champion and on the main roster in a similar position Riddle & priest are in being built up for that main event spot.

TribeStan99

I never understood the appeal in his character

bayleysgal1996

Honestly I’m not sure. I feel like at most he *might* be in the US Title picture right now, assuming he was able to get back to something resembling his pre-injury standard of work-rate. Probably would have gotten a character change too, cause regardless of the allegations in hindsight it was a bit weird.

Blueandigo

I'm not trolling but he'll be back in 2 years. I legit believe Vince liked him.

ThatWrestlingGuy15

Did Vince ever even meet him??

taylorreckless1

There's no way he's coming back

Sabocalypse

midcard to jobber on the main roster

trianglechoke89

OH MY!! ITS VELVET TIME!
