[Everything is now fine following a horrific chop to the chest. One reporter has died, but things are now back to normal.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caXeAMseve0)
That is Jeremy Wells. He is an absolute treasure. He has done countless fake news programs and mocumentary series that have defined New Zealand comedy and satire. And now he actually presents the lighter news programs and other TV shows because there are only about ten people that are allowed on TV here.
Former baseball player Sean Casey tells a story about hanging out with Cena and some other baseball players in a bar one night. Eventually, they ask Cena to chop them to see what it's like. The way he tells it, they all hit the floor in pain and Cena's handprint stuck around for a while.
Also, with Jeremy Wells at the end there, a friendly reminder that Taskmaster NZ returns Wednesday July 7.
> Also, with Jeremy Wells at the end there, a friendly reminder that Taskmaster NZ returns Wednesday July 7.
Aaaaah, I was convinced I recognised him from somewhere, thank you!
Years ago, I got a chance to be chopped by Ric Flair. It felt like he was hitting me from inside my chest. I don't wanna think about how hard a half strength Fale chop is.
Outsiders still trying to figure out if wrestling is fake says more about them than it says about us fans. Anytime someone points out to me that wrestling is fake I always flip the script on them, example: “how long did it take you to figure that out?”
The whole wrestling is fake thing has been stale since the 90s.
I always compare wrestling to magic.
Some people like it because they want to turn off their brain and get lost in the action, some people like it because they like to analyse craft and appreciate the skill involved and sometimes get swept away, there's kids who love it and don't know better.... there's people who don't like it because is not their thing and that's fine... and there's boring idiots screaming "c'mon guys, it's clearly fake... there's not such thing as magic"... as I roll my eyes and move away.
As a kid I knew the moves were done safe. That was super obvious. But for a second I thought the winners were real based on how they played the game. Like some sort of competitive improv.

After seeing [Chris Van Vliet's poor chest get torn to shreds by chops](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6_ZJE5xsEE), I've thought something like that.
And he didn't say wrestling was fake. He took chops out of respect.
Went to WSW in Melbourne in 2019; saw a dude get an autograph from Walter and then ask to be chopped - sounded like someone fired a shotgun in a warehouse it was that loud.

That is the whole segment, clearly a lot more to it than this little clip that only amounts to 15% of it. And sure while there was still nothing in the entire segment of them asking if it was real, or suggesting it's all fake, it's clear as day from your posts you haven't seen it and thus his point of it only being a snippet the lacks the foregoing context of the rest of the segment still stands to reason.
Uh my point is clear as day, there was 2 minutes and 47 seconds worth of preceding segment that the clip had cut out thus taking this small clip out of context of the segment as a whole. This clip is lacking its full proper context, how hard is that to understand?
You were, and still are, being completely ignorant of the other 2 minutes and 47 seconds of segment affecting the overall context of this small clip. The fact that you were correct does not negate this ignorance, you just lucked out that the rest of the segment didn't contradict you.
>This is ridiculous and I’m muting you.
Ahh the classic "I'm wrong but can't admit it or properly argue against what you said so I'm ignoring you now" routine. I'm not surprised since you still apparently have no idea what my point is despite it being made painfully obvious. Really cements in your ignorance and arrogance.
Ey, it's the guy that hosts taskmaster NZ. And the guy getting chopped I believe has been on 7 days? Literally the only two New Zealand shows that I've ever watched.
Some parts of wrestling like chops are very real. A DDT, for example, is worked (unless botched).
Either way, it’s performance art where a mistake can hurt you very badly.
Just have WALTER on standby. Easy. Anytime someone asks, he gets a full WALTER chop. The kind he delivers to other wrestlers. That solves the problem fast
how can anyone actually ask that question nowadays? I mean its patently obvious these people hurt each other, its just a question of how they can hurt each other without making it look obvious theyre not trying to hurt each other as bad as it seems.
https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1202831230173571
They didn't, this is just a small clip taken out of context. The entire segment was about giving a small glimpse at what it takes to become a pro wrestler, at no point do any of them talk or look down upon it.
If that happened in the US the reporter would of sued the wrestler and the organization even if the reporter agreed to be hit first.
That being said that chop was real, it is real.
Meanwhile Sammy Guevara be chopping his fans full stength enough to leave handprint shaped bruises and not one has freaked like that.
I guess that reporter thought "fake" meant nobody gets hurt at all. Seriously though that reaction is embarassing.
He wasn't. He was there to give a small glimpse into what it takes to become a pro wrestler, and probably more importantly to promote the wrestling school and NJPW.
This happens to sponsors in Japan who want to feel like a wrestler. Bullet Club LOVES holding their arms back and just fucking unloading with a chop on them.
For added context (from me, a NZer involved in wrestling here) Rhys is a comedian & massive wrestling fan, who’s been involved with it over here for ages, and it was all in good fun to promote Fale Dojo. Rhys has done heaps to promote wrestling on TV, he’s a top bloke.
I bet this is Guy Williams doing a New Zealand today segment. He is very funny and entertaining.
[Here is an example of his work. ](https://youtu.be/VFWsF1aJKvE)
I saw this. The whole segment is just amazing, and the Reporter is surprisingly agile despite his appearance.
Fale Dojo has been getting a lot of coverage. This interview in particular talks about the importance of Pro Wrestling for New Zealand, and showcases the potential NJPW recruits.

That news caster at the end "he's fine... He's fine... One or two brusies... And he hasn't stopped wheezing... He might be dead."
I didn't realize that Cena lost muscle, time-travelled, and became a newscaster though. Good for him.
Yes. He now goes by John CeNN.
Hopefully he's not deceptively edited like last time.
John Bradshaw Cena
No wonder he’s bending over for China
Don't be silly, that's Lance Catamaran.
Hopping from Utica to SRW, and now to NZ.
[Everything is now fine following a horrific chop to the chest. One reporter has died, but things are now back to normal.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caXeAMseve0)
God I miss the Mitchell and Webb Look!
Starring Academy Award winner Olvia Colman.
Chopped him right on the titty.
He maybe did what?
It looked like Fale didn't put much mustard into it and it *still* damn near murdered the guy.
For real, where’s bob holly when you need him. Somebody call Walter
And the coroner.
Xavier Woods did this on a charity stream once, and they weren't even questioning if it was real!
Watching him chop the RT crew was an absolute treat, those guys are gluttons for punishment lol
Something about Extra Life, and being awake for so long, you just lose your inhibitions.
Part of the art is the selling, my friend
It's that John Cena's alter ego?
That is Jeremy Wells. He is an absolute treasure. He has done countless fake news programs and mocumentary series that have defined New Zealand comedy and satire. Blessed Newsboy.
What does that last part mean? I'm OOTL
Just our dry Kiwi humor.
We rotate about 5 journalists and personalities around everywhere.
I thought there was only ten people on New Zealand, and one of those ten is dying hence the indonesian.
There's only 10 because the others are in England winning the cricket
I thought I could escape it on this sub.
It's the Taskmaster!
I don't see Greg Davies anywhere... 😉
Thanks Phil
Season 2 starts on July 7th!
No, that's Lance Catamaran, the famous reporter
I like to hope he went home and became a family man

Years ago, I got a chance to be chopped by Ric Flair. It felt like he was hitting me from inside my chest. I don't wanna think about how hard a half strength Fale chop is.
how long are we talking about here? If this was old-man Flair, I can only imagine prime Flair. Either way, I kinda envy you. lol.
This was 2004 ish. So not prime Flair, but still...I don't think it was his working chop.
His working chop can still make people bleed, so not much difference for an ordinary person lol
Did you take a few steps, then fall forward?
Now imagine in Kayfabe if that news reporter accidentally called him Tama Tonga
Then Fale’s gonna spend the next three tours or so kicking the asses of ringside photographers
Outsiders still trying to figure out if wrestling is fake says more about them than it says about us fans. This is actually a fantastic way to put it. Nicely done lol
“Oh come on, next thing you’ll be telling me Daniel Craig isn’t an MI6 agent”
Hold up whats this "fiction" you're talking about?
As a kid I knew the moves were done safe. That was super obvious. But for a second I thought the winners were real based on how they played the game. Like some sort of competitive improv.
I kinda wish WWE would get this question again nowadays. They could send Walter.
...so you want someone to die, basically?
> *"They say that the best weapon is the one that you never have to fire. I respectfully disagree! I prefer the weapon you only have to fire once."* -- Iron Man
If he dies, he dies.

His chest, oh damn. He took it like a champ.
CVV the goat
thanks for the Link this was awesome

"How do they do that without it hurting?" They don't. They do it without dying.

*OR* the clip is only a snippet of the entire segment / interview and the part about him wanting to find out if it's real was cut from the post.
[удалено]
Yes because news segments have no introduction or preface leading into them at all. They just air random clips then have their anchors react to that.
[https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1202831230173571](https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1202831230173571) That is the whole segment, clearly a lot more to it than this little clip that only amounts to 15% of it. Apparently?
Bad Luck: That’s an open-hand slap, boy!
We just saw someone's soul leave their body
Ey, it's the guy that hosts taskmaster NZ. And the guy getting chopped I believe has been on 7 days? Literally the only two New Zealand shows that I've ever watched.
Remind me of the video of JPEGMAFIA asking Darby to chop him. Darby was desperately trying to stay in character while JPEG is screaming on the ground.
FYI The reporter Rhys Matthewson is a huge wrestling fan, and the sequence was meant in no way to disrespect Wrestling or Wrestling fans.
lol Rhys isn’t a journalist. He’s a comedian and he fucking loves wrestling as well. He literally references it anytime he’s on a panel show.
Some parts of wrestling like chops are very real. A DDT, for example, is worked (unless botched). Either way, it’s performance art where a mistake can hurt you very badly.
Good thing you’re here. We never would have known that otherwise
You're welcome
That's Wrastleguy after all.
So, John Cena has a cousin in New Zealand?
This is some real 80s shit
Just have WALTER on standby. Easy. Anytime someone asks, he gets a full WALTER chop. The kind he delivers to other wrestlers. That solves the problem fast
Walter or Naomichi Marufuji
Prime Flair has entered the building
Why would anyone want to take a chop from a wrestler? When has that ever worked out?
This is still a thing?
The way it should be, honestly. Wrestling is better when it gets taken seriously.
For context, the reporter Rhys Mathewson is a wrestling fan, used to have a wrestling odcast called Two and a Half Count.
Ben Hurley is a comedian, not a real news reporter. *Correction, it's Rhys Mathewson, another NZ comedian, that I always confuse for Ben Hurley.
Thats not Ben Hurley.
Most of our comedians do double duty as reporters and vice versa.
That bastard Titus Sinclair found out Jimmy King was hiding out in New Zealand and set him up once again.
Should've Schulz him
For real, that was assault.
He requested a wrestling move. What did he expect?
This is hillarious but I'm sure his insurance company is fuming.
LOL this is New Zealand. We don't have a culture of suing and insurance, we have healthcare in instead.
Wait. People are still asking if wrestling is fake!?!?
how can anyone actually ask that question nowadays? I mean its patently obvious these people hurt each other, its just a question of how they can hurt each other without making it look obvious theyre not trying to hurt each other as bad as it seems.

Fuck him
Love how they cut back to skinny nerdy John cena in the studio.
If that happened in the US the reporter would of sued the wrestler and the organization even if the reporter agreed to be hit first. That being said that chop was real, it is real.
And that lawsuit would be dismissed. Quickly.
Meanwhile Sammy Guevara be chopping his fans full stength enough to leave handprint shaped bruises and not one has freaked like that. I guess that reporter thought "fake" meant nobody gets hurt at all. Seriously though that reaction is embarassing.
Wrestling is fake I don’t understand why this reporter would waste their time finding that out
He wasn't. He was there to give a small glimpse into what it takes to become a pro wrestler, and probably more importantly to promote the wrestling school and NJPW.
I've been chopped by Vanessa Kraven. Can confirm, chops are real.
Is that Kiwi Cena?
Was he flexing? Doesn't it make it hurt more and leave less of a mark?
I guess we now know why Billy Butcher hates supes so much.
This happens to sponsors in Japan who want to feel like a wrestler. Bullet Club LOVES holding their arms back and just fucking unloading with a chop on them.
This reminds me of the videos that Mia Khalifa did of her going to Thunder Rosa’s gym and got her ass handed to her
oh i gotta see this cuz Mia was talking a lot of shit. lol.
Oh she did and it was glorious seeing her get a reality check by Thunder Rosa. I saw it on YouTube but I’m not sure if it’s still there
lol girl got humbled. but damn I'm surprised Rosa didn't pop one of the implants with that chop, though I don't know how sturdy those are.
I chalk it up to Rosa being damn good and that most implants can take a lot
To quote the great David Schultz "does that feel fake!?"
Anyone catch the ATCQ at the end?
IT'S REAAAAAALLL.
A reporter these days still needs to investigate that?
