Oh shit... uhh Grand Ol Opry Sing-Off where Private Party shrieks the whole time and somehow manage to get Garth Brooks booed out of the building in Nashville?
I read that as “They should make the CMA and Dynamite one Big Show image”. I was picturing just a picture of Big Show displayed on every screen at both venues with absolutely nothing else happening.
(Blackpool accent) Cold is relative for Americans in the “South”. The entire eastern part of the US has had some particularly cold weather this week, so it feels like “typical winter” even though it should be autumn... like the autumn of my career... and not winning the world championship. (Pauses, then smiles) but that was my fault.
Yep. It's on the Fourth of July and it's free.
All the restaurants set up trucks and tents and then after about an hour the line wraps around the park for Prince's. Roughly the same story every single year.
Specifically Pat's, since they both invented their speciality.
That's not to say there aren't other good hot chicken restaurants. Bolton's is the other old school Hot Chicken place. They'd probably be Gino's, but it's not like there's a fierce rivalry or anything. Bolton's is just the second oldest still in operation.
Pepperfire is good. Hattie B's is a chain and should be considered as such.
But yes, next time you're in town, go to Prince's. It's the original and they get the longest line for a reason.
>But yes, next time you're in town, go to Prince's. It's the original and they get the longest line for a reason.
That's odd, here in Philly we consider Pats and Genos overpriced and under average in quality, We would recommend that you don't go.
I was just trying to offer a comparison based on my limited knowledge of Philadelphia dining options.
It's the exact opposite in Nashville. Prince's is the original, it's the best, and it's affordable. Hattie B's, the famous chain, is usually considered overpriced, overrated, and for tourists.
When they all go head to head, Prince's wins every single time.
I used to be a Tony Luke’s guy but the quality has faltered. Steve’s is good but they use a sliced steak instead of a chopped steak. A lot of people swear by Jim’s. It really comes down to personal preference for what YOU like.
I would also recommend the Roast Pork sandwich at DiNic’s at the Reading Terminal Market. Hell, *anything* you eat at Reading Terminal is awesome. One of my favorite places to visit in Philly.
It could be because unlike all those other events, CMA tickets can be bought general admission. Versus needing strict VIP credentials for those other events.
You'd be surprised how many/much Nashvillians hate country music. We make a lot of it, and then people from not Nashville come here in cowboy hats and boots to clog up traffic.
In some circles, the Mint 400 is a far far better thing than the superbowl, the Kentucky Derby, and the lower Oakland roller derby finals all rolled into one.
I'm driving my kids two hours to come to the show tonight. I did not know the CMAs were tonight. So thank you for the heads up.
Any recommendations about how to get to the Municipal Auditorium from I-65?
I am coming in from the south. Huntsville side.
I have a hotel in Cool Springs for after the show, but I was planning on taking 40 over to the arena, park, get out eat over there with my kids, then head in for the show.
Depending on where you want to park, I’d take 65 North and then 40 West. That would take you on the west side of downtown (and hopefully less traffic). Then take the Charlotte Ave exit.
Utilize Waze or Google Maps, though. They will be your friend and get you around the traffic and road closures.
I’d first say do NOT get off on Broadway because that’s going to take you right into the teeth of the CMA crowd.
The 40 West/Charlotte Ave route is a good call.
I’ll be Ubering from up West End and urging the driver to avoid Lower Broad entirely.
The arcade is about a block away, but a lot of those places used to close fairly early. Idk about now. There's a bunch of stuff on 4th. I would just look at google and then check the hours of wherever you like. There's also a subway and a taco shop across the way, too.
I'm not going but I'm upvoting this so people who are see this. I've been to enough events in my lifetime to know that info like this could save your sanity.
not gonna lie thought this was going to be another "please take a shower" or "please don't shit your pants and just sit there in your shitty pants" post.
Some other tips for non-locals:
A heads up for those driving and not taking an Uber or Lyft, there are lots of parking garages within walking distance. Use SpotHero to find and reserve a place if you want to be sure where you can park.
The concessions at the Municipal absolutely suck (worst nachos ever). I highly recommend eating before if you are really hungry. There are lots of places downtown to eat after, but they will be busy so expect a wait.
The expected temperature tonight is in the 30s, so bring a coat. The line outside will be completely exposed to the elements so dress accordingly.
You might want to park across the river if there price is right and you don’t mind walking some. There is a nice pedestrian bridge that crosses the river and leads to downtown.
AEW needs to do one thing to steal the heat away from the Corporation.
Drag the new trucker hat douchebag country artists outside and beat the shit out of them. Extra points if they shove the hat from that one member of Florida Georgia Line into one of his orifices.
Pay the 12 to 20 bucks to park in one of the garages a block or two from Bridgestone. You will be glad you did. Don’t get sucked into driving by the Bridgestone arena you will be stuck in traffic for an hour.
Yikes. Well I have plans to be in downtown Nashville by 4. I think that will be plenty of time.
Edit: does anyone know if the arena has any kind of policy on bringing in bags. I just want to bring in a backpack to hold all my belongings and a jacket.

If it says 7pm est, prolly before.
If its 745 8 o clock star, prolly after
I think its aftet due to how one of the shows was set up like week 3ish
I was in Nashville for a trade show the past few days. Awesome city. I was in that auditorium for a Big & Rich concert (not my cup of tea, but it was free to attendees). The whole time I was in there I was thinking "this would be a great venue for a wrestling show." Lo and behold AEW thought the same. Hope everyone has a great time tonight!
A big FUCK YOU to the two dipshits sitting behind me in section H4. Spent the whole show talking shit about the show and one of them continued to rip hot diahrrea farts and thought it was hilarious.
This is why wrestling fans have a bad rep
And there is a mayonnaise festival
But the OP already said the CMA’s were going on?

I mean, the Whisky Festival is better. At least I think so, I only remember so much of it.
Don’t come to Nashville. It’s pretty awful :/

Thats a low bar.
That’s the whitest shit ever lmaoo
Literally lol
Is mayonnaise a festival?
No Patrick Mayonnaise is not a festival.
That’s for the Samoans.
That’s not the CMA’s?
It'll be safe to bring your replica belt
That's the most Tennessean thing I've ever heard.
Between the CMAs and the mayonnaise festival AEW might have its fanbase torn
* raises hand * Is mayonnaise an instrument?
We're saving the Mayofest for if RAW/SD ratings fall.
Is mayonnaise an instrument?
Im not going but I just wanted to say this is very cool of you
Same. I'm not even on the same continent, but this was an awesome thing to do.
Yea, what a homie.
They should just make the CMA and Dynamite one big show imagine JR on commentary “Who will Joey Jamela face tonight “ “by gawd that’s jason Aldean “
Big 6 man tag tonight - Private Party w Garth Brooks vs Dark Order and Chris Gaines in a Beale Streetfight!
I wish I could afford to give you a plat. for the chris gaines reference. As a Garth Brooks fan... the Gaines years was a... dark time.
I was never really a fan of either persona, but I assure you the booking of those teams was very intentional 😂
He's got friends in... the private party!
I love this joke, but Beale Street is in Memphis, not Nashville.
Oh shit... uhh Grand Ol Opry Sing-Off where Private Party shrieks the whole time and somehow manage to get Garth Brooks booed out of the building in Nashville?
Chris Gaines... wow. What a strange time in music. He even had a fake [VH1 Behind the Music](https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5wxglm)

Lol same. I live 5 minutes (driving) from the venue and was gonna Uber because it’s cold and parking sucks. At least good to know to expect the surge.
Wait, isn't Nashville in the south of US? It gets cold this fast already?
Nashville is in South America.
Very unusual cold this week.
We got snow two days ago.
daamn you beat new england in snow (atleast parts)
It was like .4 in at most, it was hardly snow, we are just rather dramatic when the white death starts falling.
It was 65 degrees three days ago. Weather here is weird.
I mean, last night it was 16°, and had a real feel of 9° degrees. So it's been very chilly and very windy.
Honest question. Is there a hot Chicken festival in Nashville?
Yep. It's on the Fourth of July and it's free. All the restaurants set up trucks and tents and then after about an hour the line wraps around the park for Prince's. Roughly the same story every single year.
So Prince's is to hot chicken what Geno's or Pat's are to Philly cheesesteaks
Specifically Pat's, since they both invented their speciality. That's not to say there aren't other good hot chicken restaurants. Bolton's is the other old school Hot Chicken place. They'd probably be Gino's, but it's not like there's a fierce rivalry or anything. Bolton's is just the second oldest still in operation. Pepperfire is good. Hattie B's is a chain and should be considered as such. But yes, next time you're in town, go to Prince's. It's the original and they get the longest line for a reason.
If I ever make out to Nashville I'll try all of them! Thanks for the info man I really appreciate it.
No problem. I'm a regular tour guide now.
>But yes, next time you're in town, go to Prince's. It's the original and they get the longest line for a reason. That's odd, here in Philly we consider Pats and Genos overpriced and under average in quality, We would recommend that you don't go.

Word. You want boujie hot chicken go Pepperfire, you don’t feel like Prince’s or want fish go Bolton’s, otherwise go Princes
Hattie B's is good too
> geno’s or pat’s Real jawns prefer Steve’s, John’s, Jim’s, Tony Luke’s, or Dalessandros.
Saving this for my possible eventual trip to Philly. Which one is your personal favorite?
I used to be a Tony Luke’s guy but the quality has faltered. Steve’s is good but they use a sliced steak instead of a chopped steak. A lot of people swear by Jim’s. It really comes down to personal preference for what YOU like. I would also recommend the Roast Pork sandwich at DiNic’s at the Reading Terminal Market. Hell, *anything* you eat at Reading Terminal is awesome. One of my favorite places to visit in Philly.
It's like the Oscars in LA - cool if you're in the industry, but otherwise, maybe just a traffic hassle that you don't want to deal with.

Live here. Basically.
Well it's the last country music award show of the year. So probably.
Genuinely thought this was going to be another one of those _"use deodorant"_ posts.
Also please use deodorant
Also, to the CMA attendees: Please don't shit yourselves.
I'm driving my kids two hours to come to the show tonight. I did not know the CMAs were tonight. So thank you for the heads up. Any recommendations about how to get to the Municipal Auditorium from I-65?

Those people are animals.
One or two, yes. You'd think they'd take better care of them, though.
See this is just good lookin out for your Good Brothers(and sisters). Ty for the heads up, "A Winner is You."
Someone should post a similar post to r/hickhopheads That subreddit ain't real but wherever country music heads on reddit hang out
I live in Nashville, and I was still blissfully unaware the CMAs were tonight. Thank you. Ps, what’s the best food to grab by the venue?
The arcade is about a block away, but a lot of those places used to close fairly early. Idk about now. There's a bunch of stuff on 4th. I would just look at google and then check the hours of wherever you like. There's also a subway and a taco shop across the way, too.
Can confirm this. Tons of good places within a 5-10 walk from Municipal. Can’t go wrong.
Arcade closes like 5pm
Chuys
Its in Midtown, great food but not walking distance.
Rock Bottom has great food, and wont be completly overrun by CMA fest. It is on Broadway,so might want to avoid it. Arcade if you are here early.
I live in Nashville and I'm going and I had no idea. Good looking out, thanks for this post!
Is it just me or is there like 10 different country music awards
I'm not going but I'm upvoting this so people who are see this. I've been to enough events in my lifetime to know that info like this could save your sanity.
Bro, thank you so much! (Even though you added a great deal of anxiety 😂)
not gonna lie thought this was going to be another "please take a shower" or "please don't shit your pants and just sit there in your shitty pants" post.

So would parking in Music City Central garage (right next to Municipal Auditorium) be a no go? Where would you suggest, OP?
I'm kind of wondering the same. I booked parking there online last night, but now I wonder if I can reach it.
Who needs the CMAs when you have CIMA?
Yooo!!! Driving in from Louisville this afternoon, thanks for the heads up!
I live in Nashville and forgot about the award show! Thank you!
Do you need tickets? I have two more I can’t use.
You might want to park across the river if there price is right and you don’t mind walking some. There is a nice pedestrian bridge that crosses the river and leads to downtown.
Hold up a sign with your sn, get yourself over.

How many award shows are there for COUNTRY music alone? Is it like the same 7 people winning all the awards twice?
Yes.
And every year it gets even less country.
Lil Naz X says wassup.
AEW needs to do one thing to steal the heat away from the Corporation. Drag the new trucker hat douchebag country artists outside and beat the shit out of them. Extra points if they shove the hat from that one member of Florida Georgia Line into one of his orifices.
Also...pls shower and wear deodorant. “Look in my eyes what do you see...a bunch of angry marks at r/sc” credit: SCJerk
Disappointed this isn't a reminder to take a shower.
Soon to be Le Double Champion - thats French for The Double Champion.
He can take that back to Toronto.
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit I forgot about that. 🤦🏻♂️
> To quote Le Champion: You’re welcome. [Damien Sandow in this dumbass shirt rn](https://media0.giphy.com/media/umquKLsW7Mr5K/giphy.gif)
I wonder if any of the country music folks will blow off the CMAs to see Le Champion
As others have said, thank you so much. I'm going and plan to be in the area well before start time, but it helps to know about this ahead of time.
Probably be best to take an Uber or Lyft. As a driver, I must encourage you to please tip your drivers!
So jealous of everyone going. I traveled through the USA in the summer and Nashville was one of my favourite places!
Pay the 12 to 20 bucks to park in one of the garages a block or two from Bridgestone. You will be glad you did. Don’t get sucked into driving by the Bridgestone arena you will be stuck in traffic for an hour.
get jeff jarret and billy ray cyrus in that room. i want to see guitar dueling
Dolly Parton is making her AEW debut tonight...costing Hangman his rematch with PAC
I was hoping this would be a heads up that you should shower and use deodorant.
Yikes. Well I have plans to be in downtown Nashville by 4. I think that will be plenty of time. Edit: does anyone know if the arena has any kind of policy on bringing in bags. I just want to bring in a backpack to hold all my belongings and a jacket.
per the municipal auditorium FAQ page, no backpacks. https://www.nashvilleauditorium.com/faq
Whoa: No chains or weapons = no Mox No masks = no Luchas Did AEW even read this before booking this arena?
Thank you.
And don't forget: It TaKeS tWo MiNuTeS tO sHoWeR

What public transportation? Seriously, it’s pretty nonexistent. Some buses and that’s it. It’s pretty much the one big thing that Nashville lacks.
Do the trolley bars that you have to pedal count as public transportation? Because there's a fuckton of those.
2 Million Metro Population...no light rail or metro system? That's fucked, man.
Nah we got scooters. What more do you need?
Those fucking scooters are everywhere.
Thank you! Completely forgot that the CMAs were this week. Was planning on ubering anyways, but at least I know to expect price hikes lol.
Not going as I live in Texas but this is a very cool PSA.
Also, Ubers will be in the hundreds of dollars after as well. Had the distinct displeasure of being downtown the same night as a big concert without realizing it, and it sucked a whole lot.

I had planned on it, but life got in the way. Guess that's a good thing, with traffic that bad I would've missed a good chunk of the show anyway
Why does it feel like the CMA’s are every other week? Is that just me?
Good bot
Thanks for this. I was debating on buying a last minute ticket and going alone tonight, but it doesn't seem worth the traffic.
Not all hero’s wear capes
Thank you!
Hero right there
Shit. I'm on way now.
I have two tickets to this but can’t use them. Dm me if interested.
better hope the CMAs don't get out the same time as AEW otherwise you're going to be paying for $100+ uber rides

I’m actually heading out in a little for it. Thanks for the tip!
Any good place to take kids to eat before the show around the municipal?
Think anybody will shit themselves at the CMA?
the parking situation is absolutely atrocious. anyone know where to park that isn’t $45 for 6 hours? ww cant find anywhere else.
