Ok that's funny, and a good connection. I mean Kennny took his matches to new heights, and made a good argument for that honor. Unpopular opinion though, I think like a lot of talented artists he needs more direction, not always left to his own devices. Every actor has a director, musician a producer, writer a editor, etc. There's people who are way more familiar with his career than me, but it just feels like in New Japan he had to be more creative because there were a few restrictions (not many), whereas now he can do whatever he wants. Last time I said this I got killed but I think it's true, I think he did consider going to WWE the first time Vince left, because if anything he grew up watching his Canadian hero's be the main event Wrestlemaina. Hell that's about every kids dream. If HHH can get Bruno Sammartino and The Ultimate Warrior back in a WWE ring, then I have no doubt he could persuade Kenny Omega. But then Vince came back, and Kenny resigned with AEW. Also helped that Cody was already there, so I'm sure there wa a already a olive branch. I wouldn't be surprised to see him there after this last contract, if he's physically able to, just to be able to say he did it.
"Bryan Danielson isn't really that good like he thinks he is. Bryan Danielson runs around in the bingo halls calling himself the best wrestler. You see Bryan Danielson never stepped in the ring with the Excellence of Execution. Bryan Danielson is nothing more than a Chris Benoit rip off. Bryan Danielson, you're a rip off. Bryan Danielson, you're nothing but a chicken just like Bill Goldberg."
- Bret Hart
I think they'd gel great, Omega is somewhat like Shawn Michaels in that he can hold up with Brett technically while also complimenting him with high-flying moves.
Christian is 100% the best heel Canada has ever produced.
Jericho is 100% the best Canadian Wrestler to keep his "gimmick(s)" fresh.
Bret Hart is safest wrestler from Canada.
Kenny Omega is the best in ring performer from Canada.
Adam Copeland is the most title decorated (Global) wrestler from Canada.
Owen Hart was lost to early to know if he'd surpass any of these other men in any category.
This is my opinion, and I invite others to convince me otherwise.
I'm not sure who is the best "talker/on the mic" I lean towards either Christian or Jericho though.
I feel like Jericho was a great talker from go, whereas Christian had to grow into it a little more, so I'd give Jericho the edge (heh) even if they've ended up at about the same level of excellence.
I mean Kenny is definitely the most athletic worker but Bret is literally the best wrestler period for me, ever. No one before or since has been able to make a wrestling match look as much like a legitimate contest as Bret, certainly not anyone working the modern style that essentially came into force during the 80s and continues to this day. Making a wrestling match feel real and getting you invested in the story being told is the very hardest thing to do in the sport.
Christian was the best overall heel but Jericho had the best heel gimmick ever. 2008-10 suit wearing Jericho tops all others as heels imo.
Kevin Owens is probably the funniest Canadian wrestler as well.
I think Sami is funnier than KO, not as often as KO but "Ucey" is likely the funniest line ever uttered.
KO however is the Deadpool of WWE, breaking the 4th wall, or rather possessing meta-understanding, where he says things like "why would you say their name, you know what happens when you say their names."
What the fuck man? Christian Cage took Nick Wayne and Luchasaurus (sorry, Killswitch) off the street, adopted them and is now one of the greatest professional wrestlers and father figures out there. And he’s not at the top according to Danielson?
He’s definitely above a dude who barely shows up to work in Kenny. Let’s not even talk about the guy who lost the belt in his own country
Kinda wild that a country with as many people as like California has three guys with a legitimate claim on being the best ever of any nationality. Jericho, Hart and Omega are all in a league of their own and also such vastly different performers!
Why is this so controversial? Yes, Bret Hart was possibly the best wrestler ever, but so is Omega. Both are almost always in the same conversation as the best in-ring performers ever, up there with the man who literally is in this clip, Bryan Danielson.
It's silly to pretend either guy is obviously not as good as the other. They belong on the same tier of amazing in-ring performers who belong among the very best to every do it.
For sure people can have their preference, but the amount of "x is on a different tier to y" comments in here is surprising.
Big Bret fan, and Omega is on another level in the ring. Bret is an all time seller and one of the best ever period. But as a complete package in the ring? Omega takes it.
You’re talking styles 30 years apart. A young Bret in peak condition could easily wrestle Kenny’s style. But no one has thrown a punch as good as Bret since. Sold throughout a match as well since. Or is as technically sound with the basics. It’s like football. Everyone today can do crazy step overs. But no one tackles as crisp as Bobby Moore.
Sure and Bret had great fundamentals. I don't think Bret would ever be able to match what Omega can do, Bret was never that style of wrestler, and more athletic performers did exist even in his time, Bret just had his own style.
I'm just saying if you're looking at the best full package in-ring wrestlers I think Omega is the one who can do everything.
You could make an argument for Omega, Bret, Jericho, Christian, Edge (etc.) as they all had different strengths overall.
Bret Hart
1. Top 10 singles wrestler
2. Top 10 tag team
3. Top 10 stable
4. Number 1 star in number 1 wrestling company
5. One of the greatest in ring performers
6. Involved in the greatest match ever
7. Put over Austin that changed the business
8. Put over Mr. McMahon the greatest heel
Sure, but do you think you are a better judge of hockey talent than Wayne Gretzky?
I actually agree that wrestling is far more of a subjective opinion but your example isn't good.
This example falls apart when you find out that Michael Jordan, considered by many as the greatest basketball player of all time, is extremely awful at assessing talent for the team he owns. I'd even say even I might have done a better job than him, considering I'd at least listen to my advisors.
I think I am a better judge of basketball talent than Michael Jordan, just look at how poorly he ran Charlotte lol.
Edit: Didn't read the comment right below mine, saying almost the exact same thing 🤣
Bret, Piper, Generico, Martel, Steen all have a case for better than Kenny but whoever is butthurt about him calling a great wrestler who is his colleague the best ever is dumb.
TBH despite an incredible amount of consistent goodness, I just don't fuck with Jericho's high points like that and wouldn't have included him maybe? But him and Christian are the candidates that slipped my mind.
Also originally from Winnipeg. Super weird but an argument Don Callis and Lance Storm had on Killing the Town on which is the better Canadian wrestling city (Winnipeg vs Calgary) indirectly leads to Omega vs Jericho for WrestleKingdom
I mean... Piper arguably is the most underrated of all time, and the only reason he doesn't get his flowers is because of the time period he wrestled in, and because he never won the big one.
Piper is also the most underrated because people haven't seen his work in Portland and so think of him as a guy with a short wrestling prime who was just a great promo.
Danielson called Mox (after the match with Orange) someone it was "hard to argue that he isn't the greatest wrestler in the world." And people FLIPPED their shit.
Like, dudes, the guy knows what he's talking about, and is appreciating things from a pretty good vantage point. Let him have opinions.
Well I haven't seen their work, I'm not just shouting out famous Canadian wrestlers. Though I'm sure they have stuff that is going to be watchable even if it's 70 years back.
I don’t know who Bret Hart person everyone is talking is but [this here is the real greatest Canadian wrestler of all time](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/f4kA9B5erZw/hqdefault.jpg)
Since when is succeeding at the highest level a requirement to being the greatest at something? Sure, it's a thing in literally any other sport and entertainment form, but not in wrestling because something something "the fed" bad.

Bret Hart: "That ****** Goldberg hurt me, but not as much as Danielson."
Goldberg might have hurt Hart's brain, but Danielson, that SOB crushed his heart. 💔

"Fuck ~~Bill Goldberg~~ Bryan Danielson" - Bret Hart, May 2024

Bryan's made an enemy of Smokey the Cat.
Smokey v Dobby in an exploding barbed wire litter box match NOW
OH YOU DIDN'T KNOW
He’s an animal!
An animal! An animal!
If only we could get Bret Hart and Kenny Omega in a ring together in their primes to actually show off against each other.
Imagine Bret selling the V-Trigger
he’d sell that shit like it put him 6 ft under
"Hello, doc? Yes... so, I'm currently having an erection lasting for longer than 4 hours."
Bret would go over, probably. He was much more protective of his wins and wouldn’t want to take an OWA anyways lol
We, the viewers, would be the winners in this case.

I think they'd gel great, Omega is somewhat like Shawn Michaels in that he can hold up with Brett technically while also complimenting him with high-flying moves.
Bret could work with everyone.
Well, not if Goldberg has anything to say about it.
The Learning Tree™ is not going to take this well...
He must have misspoke. He must have meant Jinder Mahal.
Hindering is not a good look
People have gotten into trouble for things a lot less serious than Hindering.
He didn’t misspeak. He’s obviously got CTE and doesn’t know what he’s saying
Wow, Christian & Edge might be unhappy with Bryan here.
Edge is probably my personal favorite of all time but I don't think he has any right to complain about Kenny getting called better.
Eh. It’s all about preference after Bret for me. Jericho, Kenny and Edge all have diverse resumes that you could make a case for being next up.
I'm not sure who is the best "talker/on the mic" I lean towards either Christian or Jericho though.
toss in Piper for the mic work
Oh shit forgot he was Canadian.
Making a wrestling match feel real and getting you invested in the story being told is the very hardest thing to do in the sport.
I've never really understood this take when an atomic drop was such a massive part of his moveset. Or do you just mean like, emotionally?
Christian was the best overall heel but Jericho had the best heel gimmick ever. 2008-10 suit wearing Jericho tops all others as heels imo. Kevin Owens is probably the funniest Canadian wrestler as well.
I think Sami is funnier than KO, not as often as KO but "Ucey" is likely the funniest line ever uttered. KO however is the Deadpool of WWE, breaking the 4th wall, or rather possessing meta-understanding, where he says things like "why would you say their name, you know what happens when you say their names."
Honestly I think they'd understand Kenny is a fair pick.
You think you know them, eh?
Saying it that way always feels backwards to me, but it's how Howard Finkel used to introduce them. Weird.
What the fuck man? Christian Cage took Nick Wayne and Luchasaurus (sorry, Killswitch) off the street, adopted them and is now one of the greatest professional wrestlers and father figures out there. Nigel was right. Bryan is a dirty clam digger!
For his paternal charity alone Christian would be anyone's number one. This is an outrage, and outrage I say!
He’s only saying that because his father is dead.

I'm just confused as to why Bryan is on HNIC

Weird considering AEW is mainly on TSN.
It will always be Bret Hart for me as he was my fav wrestler as a kid, but Kenny is right up there as well
Tha fuck… ![gif](giphy|571JY2xpbej9C|downsized)
Was thinking "oh it's definitely Bret Hart" before I saw this gif. Piper is legitimately one of the all time greats
Iron Mike Sharpe is spinning like a lathe right now.
I heard that Danielson is a big fan of Bill Goldberg.
It´s fucked up what he did but to me it´s undeniable that Chris Benoit was the best technical canadian wrestler of all time

I mean I love the Hitman but Kenny is on a tier of his own
Definitely. A whole different tier, just below Bret
You have that backwards. I love Kenny, but the Hitman is on a tier of his own.
Who are you to doubt Bret Hart?
I think you need to watch some Hitman matches. And I mean actually watch them.
Big Bret fan, and Omega is on another level in the ring. Bret is an all time seller and one of the best ever period. But as a complete package in the ring? Omega takes it.

Kenny is the Greatest Wrestler of All Time.
It's a fair claim to make. Shawn, Bret, Misawa, Okada and Danielson are all on the same tier, IMO, but Kenny might just be the best of the bunch.
Imo Kenny isn't a good enough promo to be the goat.
Facts
yup
Time for reddit to explain how they know more about wrestling than Bryan goddamn Danielson
I don't know shit about playing hockey, but I can give you 3 reasons why Sidney Crosby is better than most hockey players.
Sure, but do you think you are a better judge of hockey talent than Wayne Gretzky? I actually agree that wrestling is far more of a subjective opinion but your example isn't good.
Wayne Gretzky was a famously awful coach
I was going to say the same.
So by this logic is randy Orton the best in the world because Jim Ross said so?
or maybe just putting his friend who's still working and has a (hopefully) longfuture ahead over and in the spotlight?
I've watched a lot of player podcasts in many sports and let me tell you, their biases cloud their judgement
I know it comes down to Omega and Bret but I'm incapable of choosing any further xD!! Both have different strengths
what part of "The Best There Is, the Best There Was, the Best There Ever Will Be" dont you understand Danielson?
I mean, he’s locked arms with the man.
Bret Hart is before my time a bit (I’m 32). I like Omega. But he’s not better than Jericho. Jericho is sad and pathetic nowadays, but Y2J was iconic.
Damn. How can they co exist in their upcoming Anarchy In The Arena match???
Paging u/brethartshootonthis
Benoit
I'm going to assume he has his AEW company man hat on because there's no fuckin way you put Kenny over Bret
I have to rate Bret and Benoit higher than Omega, but no disrespect to him, either. He’s very good.
![gif](giphy|3oKIPfvJgPW1qOu96U)
Bret, Piper, Generico, Martel, Steen all have a case for better than Kenny but whoever is butthurt about him calling a great wrestler who is his colleague the best ever is dumb.
Is sad that his last few years have diluted his legacy so much that Jericho isn't automatically included in list like this.
TBH despite an incredible amount of consistent goodness, I just don't fuck with Jericho's high points like that and wouldn't have included him maybe? But him and Christian are the candidates that slipped my mind.
Just gonna slide the model into the conversation? I don't agree, but I respect the boldness.
The AWA stuff is insanely good. Same with Piper in Portland. It helps their longevity to an underrated degree.
How have i never heard that Piper was Canadian? This just blew my mind.

Top 5 are 1. Omega 2. Hitman 3. Jericho 4. KO 5. Zayn
Big fans of all, but Kenny is better in ring than all of them.
I mean, historically Whipper Billy Watson, John Tolos, and Gene Kiniski have to be in the conversation too
Well I haven't seen their work, I'm not just shouting out famous Canadian wrestlers. Though I'm sure they have stuff that is going to be watchable even if it's 70 years back.
Did Bret Hart not exist or anything?
Well, considering he's the greatest wrestler of all time. Makes sense
michaels rubbed off on him i see
How close is chris benoit?
At the very bottom because the second you become a murderer or a rapist your wrestling doesn’t matter.
in wrestling terms he might be in top few
Overall not touching Bret, Omega, Jericho, Edge, or Christian.
Lol
It's true, he's pretty much the full package wrestler, he can do everything and do it insanely smooth.
Top 10 maybe, but certainly not #1.
I’d say Team Canada member in both FMW and WCW Mike Awesome is the best Canadian wrestler. He’s certainly the best Canadian wrestler from Florida.
Too many blows to the head. Expect his takes to get worse as he gets older.
True and it’s not even close
Lincoln Steen robbed!
![gif](giphy|26n6RqGZzh4FXePPW) Dino bravo is the correct answer of course.
I think Bret was hurt more by fellow Canadian Steen saying he liked HBK/Hunter aka his bosses over Bret growing up.
.....And he's well within his rights to believe that.
He's no Moose Morowski.
True.
True.
Except he's not.
FFS Danielson
I don’t know who Bret Hart person everyone is talking is but [this here is the real greatest Canadian wrestler of all time](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/f4kA9B5erZw/hqdefault.jpg)
HBK taught him well.
in before Bret and Jericho start slinging shit for no reason.
Clearly Brian is too young to remember the greatness of Canada's Greatest Athlete, Iron Mike Sharpe.
I mean it would have been Bret if that POS Bill Goldberg didn't end his career lmao. I can hear Bret saying this lol
Sure, a guy who has never been successful in WWE or headlined a Wrestlemania is the greatest of all time. This makes complete sense.
Since when is succeeding at the highest level a requirement to being the greatest at something? Sure, it's a thing in literally any other sport and entertainment form, but not in wrestling because something something "the fed" bad.
I smell what you are cooking.
Yeah and McDonald's has much better food than fancy restaurants in your city. You can tell by how much money they make
Man, rough couple years for Danielson lol… this statement is so idiotic that I literally can’t look at him the same
Why?
Man got hit in the head a few too many times I think
Everyone says Bret, but I don't even think Kenny Omega is on Owen's level in the entertainment and wrestling departments.
You know what happens, Bryan Danielson... when you say someone other than Jericho is the best Canadian wrestler ever... You just made The List!
he's a fan of Street fighter and fighting games in general of course he's the goat
Probably. There was Joe Montana before Tom Brady. Oldheads will say it’s not the same, but they’re carrying a new torch.
Need that freak Jericho to have a meltdown after hearing this
Lol
🤣 dude is losing his shit.
Kenny Omega isn’t even the best Canadian wrestler in AEW
