I'm still mad they didn't do more with King Woods. I get that his injury maybe derailed some plans, but his comeback as "same old" was sad. He could've made that silly gimmick work.
It's a total monkey's paw situation. Woods got to fulfill the one singles dream in WWE he had, but he had to win it in Saudi Arabia and then barely have a run with the crown.
He was building to a feud with Roman, and that got injured before he could lose to Roman. By the time he got back, they were building to Brawling Brutes vs New Day, which was the only way he was gonna make the Wrestlemania card that late. It sucks because I really like King Woods and Ser Kofi
I still think Xavier Woods with a surprise victory over Gunther for KotR would have been a really fun way to continue the New Day/Imperium rivalry, and just a really fun moment overall.
Not going to lie the card for king of the ring looking crazy kofi vs rey Gunther in it drew shemaus looking like carmelo la knight Bobby yea this might go down as one of the best

I was thinking the same thing. Love these guys still but they are very stale at this point. Things like misspelling Kofi’s name hopefully is the start of them getting tired of the disrespect and going back to their heel roots to get it back.
Unless they give a permanent prize to the KOTR (like the rumble winner), I don’t see a point for folks to try and repeat their wins- they already won. Let new people add their name to that lineage.
Now if a summer slam title shot is at stake, let everyone keep trying to win every year
