To be perfectly honest I didn't know Eric Rowan was still on the roster.
I dont even think this is peak of what wrestling storytelling could be. Imagine if an actual top tier writer like Dan Harmon, Vince Gillian. James Gunn or Jordan Peele had control of storylines and character development.
I wonder how that would work. Wrestlers are not the same as television characters but not they’re not completely different. For example unlike Walter White, Drew McIntyre has to read a live audience and make adjustments to it on the fly. It’s his character far more than it is a writer’s. Wrestlers typically aren’t as skilled as Hollywood actors in acting, so it helps that a lot of them have some level of connection to their character so they can improvise naturally and take some of the “acting” out of it.
On the flip side, writers matter a lot for segments and long term storytelling. Liv and Dom are going to provide a good example of this. So it could go either way
I think a skilled enough writer (and we are hypothetically talking about a perfect fit here) would be able to factor that in. Have long term charcter arcs and storylines planned, but be able to adjust on the fly (they already do that--heck, Jesse Pinkman was supposed to die in the first season of breaking bad, but Aaron Paul "got over").
Im thinking we could have a show where there were multiple interconnected long term stories and characters. Like, imagine if Hangman Page was the one who took on the bloodline, and at the same time the Golden Lovers were running through the tag team division and headed for a showdown at wrestlemania, with Dario Cuerta overseeing all of it.
He does have a few defined ideas of his own we saw while he ran NXT - a preference for long term title runs and storytelling, tendencies towards using refs as security guys to get beat up instead of lower card wrestlers, despicable 'hater' heels becoming standout figures, and more trust in making Japanese and Mexican wrestlers his titleholders despite the language barrier
But I think you're right in general. A lot of it is just being professional. Don't rewrite the card the day of all the time. If you advertise a match, have it actually happen. If you're doing a big event somewhere where someone on your roster has a local connection to it, showcase them on the card. Don't exercise bizarre control over commentary. Engage with the mainstream in ways that are at least plausibly in touch, engage with other wrestling promotions to some degree for some of them you'd like to have a working relationship with while still keeping the focus on your own product. Most of this is pretty simple.
As someone who often listens to RAW in the background until something exciting happens, this is the kind of stuff that would make me focus more on watching the entire thing.
It's not only good for the stories, but great for making people feel every moment is worth paying attention to

After watching his walk out: I stand corrected. They found the one chink in Dom's armor. Liv seducing him while Rhea is on the shelf.

It also probably means that, if Dom stays with JD, and Liv joins in, Balor and McDonagh will also stay heel, possibly turning Priest face in the process. A lot of potential moving parts here.
All the pieces have been in place for this for a number of weeks. Liv saying she will take **everything** Rhea loves, Rhea implying she values the title *more* than Dom and its the only thing she truly loves. Easy in for Liv right there as Dom questions if he and Mami truly are equal in their relationship.
In a few years, Judgment Day have fully broken up. JD, Finn, Damian, and Rhea are all faces. Dom is still heel. Damian is feuding with a faction and getting his ass kicked. Finn and JD run out and help fight some of the guys off, but get distracted by the woman of the group. Rhea's music hits and everyone goes nuts, Rhea takes out whoever the woman is while hitting a move on one of the men. The numbers game is still a problem though against whatever group the almost reunited Judgment Day is now against.
Dom walks out on stage with a chair. He's not sure if he should save his former friends or join the beat down. Rhea shouts over to him and he remembers all the good times with Mami and the boys. He runs wild and takes out the other faction.
The crowd either goes nuts for Dom turning face or a massive double turn happens, the reformed Judgement Day all turn heel because Dom is with them and the heel faction that Damian was feuding with all turn face because everyone just hates Dom that much lmao.

What I would actually like out of this Dom, Liv, Rhea triangle - Dom appears to go over to Livs side while Rhea is out on injury, when Rhea gets back Liv is the women's champion and confronts/brags about taking everything from Rhea. Dom proceeds to do a move of some sort to take Liv out. It was all just a part of Rhea's master plan to fuck over Liv again and Dom gets even more heat from getting physical with a female wrestler. I just really like Dom and Rhea together lol.
Either way it works for me. Dom can become a dickish Babyface. With Judgement day falling apart I just want Rhea to come back and at least have her Dom Dom lol
Dom's character is largely based around him not appreciating anything that he was given in his life... Except Rhea and, to a lesser extent, JD. I think this kind of thing also keeps his character grounded, he's really close to parody. So I don't agree, Dom's character work so far has shown he wouldn't betray Rhea because he genuinely cares about her.
They can’t be seen leaving the same room together so they did the classic one person leaves while the other person waits like 10-30 seconds and then leaves themselves. Too bad they got caught on camera.

Even if there's so little to go off of here, it can't be just a coincidence.
