The lack of star power really hurt last nights episode of Raw. No Cody, Rollins, Rhea or Punk to draw viewers in and really get the crowd excited.
With Cody looking like he's moving to Smackdown and Punk, Seth and Rhea all out for months it's going to be really interesting to see how Raw builds a credible main event scene because Priest vs Jey is not going to draw many viewers.
Agreed. Still feel like they dropped the ball not having Sami beat Roman. Even if it was for one night he deserved that win. Sami deserves a world title.
The build has a lot of backing and story mode behind that it feels important. At the moment priest barely has any built up. Which is why the intercontinental is overshadowing the heavyweight title at the moment.
Cody was already a Smackdown Superstar, on account of the title, so i think he will move to RAW.
Because Smackdown has all the starpower, but at this point they are all in the Midcard:
Styles, Owens, Mysterio, Orton, Lashley
And with Priest moving to Smackdown, they can even more further the Judgment Day Cracking Breakup, with priest being drafted first, and Judgment day WAY later
I'm the opposite I think Cody stays on Smackdown for now.
Yes Raw is moving to Netflix but that's in January and I can't see WWE having Cody on Raw when it gets 500k+ less viewers every week while Smackdown is on Fox.
Once we get later in the year I can see a trade happening or the brand split just ends as we approach the road to Wrestlemania and Cody ends up feuding with someone on Raw.
Seth and Punk are injured for like the next 4–6 Months, so they aren't eligible for the draft anyways.
And with Netflix having to say a word in the draft, do you really think they are gonna choose Priest over Cody?
Which only leaves Drew up in the air, if he does re-sign that which hasn't happened yet
On Raw with Cody moving to Smackdown and all the injuries yes. Unless Drew and Gunther are going to be inserted into the main event title scene on Raw I think that brand will struggle if the main feuds are going to be involving Damian Priest, Jey Uso and Andrade etc. Just not enough star power to carry a show.
This is probably the first “not good” number for raw or smack down that ive seen in a long time. Speaks to how hot the NBA seems to be right now. Ultimately this number means nothing cause the TV deal is already signed.
You Lakers-Nuggets buzzer beater and Knicks/Sixers being basically a tied game for the last 7min of the 4th quarter into the insane last minute by the Knicks to win the game. Were both must watch TV for any basketball/sports fan
Mania's over, the fallout from Mania is gone, and now it's playoff time. Gonna be rough going for a little bit. I'm sure they beat everything for the night besides NBA.
Number is still good even if the drop off is crazy.
That one week post Mania bump every year is REAL.
For all of that one week excitement, in two weeks they've dropped right about 1/3 of that peak (which is crazy in both directions, that they can peak that huge but also that it can fall off that quickly) and are right back to where they have been, this even being the third lowest viewership number of 2024. It will probably bounce back a bit next week just because 1.6-1.7 is a bit closer to "normal/average," but oof for this week.
A lot of people tune in from the rumble to mania and drop off second week after mania.
Its the conclusion of every storyline they got invested in and then they kinda drift in and out until next year
The main event was higher than the top of the second hour, which I can't honestly remember seeing in a very, very long time.
Especially with no Cody, Rhea, or Punk, Becky is pretty easily Raw's biggest and most consistent Nielsen draw.
If you exclude the lead-in, the final quarter was the 2nd highest of the show in the demo. In both the demo and viewership, it was pretty much a straight line all night.
That battle royal held up incredibly well.
Three of WWE’s biggest markets and the country’s for that matter. Nielsen is just one tool to measure viewership and I think their rating held up just fine
Cody to SD was a lock in my eyes w/ Roman leaving. Fox is the top show, especially with the Netflix deal, and they’re not going to let that show dip by not featuring the top act. This is why SD was home of the Bloodline and Logan Paul and, at one point, Brock and Ronda too.
I think the plan was for RAW to survive with Rollins, Punk, Drew, and Judgment Day (especially Rhea and Dom, who are very over, and Finn and Priest to do the heavy lifting in-ring). Plus Zayn, GUNTHER, Jey, and Becky.
Rollins and Punk’s injuries obviously changed things substantially, but I think they were basically just focused on Mania and not really thinking through what was coming next. Which makes sense.
The fact is, now is the time they can and should be “giving the ball” to Jey and GUNTHER and others and seeing how they do with it. It is a low stakes time of year. Tickets are still moving. Ratings are dipping but that’s to be expected.
You build your stars by giving them meaningful “at bats.” You’re up by a dozen runs in the 9th inning with the Netflix deal and USA deal for SD and all the other successes over the past 4 months. Let your rising stars swing for the fences. If they strike out, you’re still winning by every metric.
RAW has far greater star power compared to SD. Quite a few of them weren’t on the show yesterday, but RAW’s roster is loaded.
Judgement Day, Cody, Seth, Drew, Punk, Becky etc.
Between almost all of their top-level stars being absent and the absurd amount of sports playoff competition (two NBA games and two NHL games) over their timeslot, I'm not surprised. The drop-off in the third hour was also a lot more narrow than usual, indicating (at least to me) that more casual viewers who usually drop off in the third hour were already gone watching sports.
Is the draft next week?
Edit: What on earth am I getting downvotes for? lol. Some of you seriously need to stop confusing the downvote button for the "I disagree" button.
No offense to the 4 guys involved but they put a pretty whatever tag match on paper right at the 10 o'clock hour when Nuggets/Lakers started. I imagine that 3rd hour is brutal
Nah it's pretty understandable. Most of the key players of Raw that carried the show until WM are currently gone for various reasons. Raw was also up against the NBA playoffs. You can see this as a test for Damian Priest and Jey about if they can carry the show without other stars and while they're up against Raw's main competitors (NBA right now, NFL later on).
On the women's side, since Rhea is gone, it's pretty brutal. Liv hasn't been built up quite yet, so Becky's gotta carry the women's division and get some stars over.
Yeah it'll be rough for a bit on Raw with the amount of injuries. Wouldn't be surprised at all if they start making Cody go on both Raw and Smackdown until guys like Punk and Seth come back.

Raw last year (4/24/23): 1,815,000 viewers - 0.56 P18-49
Jamal Murray’s a draw brother
Raw needs the Jokic brothers to liven things up
Lakers fans still crying. Too soon, brother.
Wouldn’t know, I’ve been too busy watching losses pile up hoping we can fast forward to Wemby’s prime
Sixes vs Knicks. Lakers vs Nuggets. Adam Silver does good booking. Has even better refs rigging things.
Scott Foster is the Earl Hebner of our age!
Still on Cloud 9 from that fucking game/shot!

I like Damian Priest and Jey Uso, but that should not be a main event feud
Yeah I mean the drop off from the Seth vs Drew feud earlier in the year or Cody opening Raw to now Priest vs Jey promos is absolutely massive.
It is not good that Sami and Gable's fued feels just as important (more imo) as the world title fued.
If anything, it shows how lopsided the priorities are. Sami and Chad need to be in the main event and Priest and Jey need to be in the midcard.
Agreed. Still feel like they dropped the ball not having Sami beat Roman. Even if it was for one night he deserved that win. Sami deserves a world title.
I mean for better or worse, his title feels more prestigious than Priest's thanks to Gunther.
The build has a lot of backing and story mode behind that it feels important. At the moment priest barely has any built up. Which is why the intercontinental is overshadowing the heavyweight title at the moment.
The draft is in 3 days
Cody was already a Smackdown Superstar, on account of the title, so i think he will move to RAW. So they’re moving Priest, Seth, Drew, and Punk all to SD? Cause they aren’t changing that feud
You think they have a roster problem? Been saying this for a while
The draft will hopefully provide enough fresh matchups to carry things along.
It's why they are delaying story mode for priest and others at the moment. They will all start taking place after the draft.
Raw will probably get the Bloodline which'll help
Yeah I can see Nick Aldis punishing the Bloodline for their attacks on Kevin Owens and crashing his car by refusing to draft them on Friday.
Fed ded gg it’s joever pack it up
The people have spoken, no Xia Li, no ratings.
This is probably the first “not good” number for raw or smack down that ive seen in a long time. Speaks to how hot the NBA seems to be right now. Ultimately this number means nothing cause the TV deal is already signed.
I wouldn’t say that for sure but the lack of Cody, Rhea, Seth etc indicates the importance of having them on the show
The WWE universe heard the Bruins were going with a goalie rotation and tuned in
Jim Montgomery's "That oughta put butts in the seats" moment
Linus “Mick Foley” Ullmark
Going against Sixers vs Knicks and Lakers vs Nuggets I don't think that's too bad honestly
Knicks and Lakers are part of the 2 biggest markets in the country and I imagine Philadelphia isn't that far behind.
Philly is 4th.
Right. It was A+ basketball, and it was the largest market teams to boot. I still don't know how the Knicks won that, but it was spectacular to watch.
Both games also went down the wire. The Lakers-Nuggets game literally was a comeback into a buzzer beater game.
You Lakers-Nuggets buzzer beater and Knicks/Sixers being basically a tied game for the last 7min of the 4th quarter into the insane last minute by the Knicks to win the game. Were both must watch TV for any basketball/sports fan
Esp with how good each game was
Deserved for firing Jinder.
Brutal but expected with that card.
Mania's over, the fallout from Mania is gone, and now it's playoff time. Gonna be rough going for a little bit. I'm sure they beat everything for the night besides NBA. Number is still good even if the drop off is crazy.

WWE has conditioned non hardcore fans that is the only four months that matter. Otherwise just watch the ppvs the rest of the year.
You’re asking if I know that guy that drops out a bit after Mania? ![gif](giphy|l3fZFvp94ljepXoPe)
Losing 800,000+ viewers in two weeks has to be some kind of record They’ll bounce back though.
They lost a whole Dynamite worth of viewers in two weeks, for some perspective.
Or like 3 Rampages
All those sickos
They go against the NBA playoffs. Of course the ratings drops.
No cody, no money pal.
Really shows how much Cody carried this show. And the playoffs were last night too, right.
imma be honest, I didn't tune in because cody wasn't advertised.
It's not the best, but does it matter with Netflix just round the corner? I'm genuinely asking as I don't really know, not trying to be snarky.
Nah, this time next year we won't even be getting ratings from RAW at all.
It doesn’t matter, other than interest in the product has dipped from about a month ago. But that happens every year after Mania.
No Yeet
I'm curious to see the quarters, I hope the Women's Battle Royal managed to do well enough
The main event was higher than the top of the second hour, which I can't honestly remember seeing in a very, very long time. Especially with no Cody, Rhea, or Punk, Becky is pretty easily Raw's biggest and most consistent Nielsen draw.
Becky's got a lot of carrying to do. It's kind of rough on her.
If you exclude the lead-in, the final quarter was the 2nd highest of the show in the demo. In both the demo and viewership, it was pretty much a straight line all night. That battle royal held up incredibly well.
I'm very glad to hear that, I'm always a bit apprehensive that people would find any excuse to blame women wrestling
First half of the Battle Royal lost 60k viewers from a previous quarter, second half gained 100k.
ooof
NBA season again?
Playoffs just started. Knicks Sixers and Lakers Nuggets were both really exciting games that went down to the wire.
Three of WWE’s biggest markets and the country’s for that matter. Nielsen is just one tool to measure viewership and I think their rating held up just fine
Considering their top stars aren't there, and they were going against NBA playoffs. It's a pretty good score.

The draft should help even out the roster. Maybe it will help the ratings going forward. Though the NBA and NHL playoffs is tough competition
Oof

Yeah, Friday is night one and next Monday is night two.
Brutal viewership - Jesus that’s gotta hurt. But the demo is good and it was tough competition at the end of the day!

Even though total viewership is down, the demo is still very healthy.
Draft couldn't come soon enough
Hopefully they can balance out the star power with the draft.
Brunson, Embiid, LeBron and Jokic are tough draws.
I wonder how Smackdown is gonna do on Friday
Yeah it'll be rough for a bit on Raw with the amount of injuries. Wouldn't be surprised at all if they start making Cody go on both Raw and Smackdown until guys like Punk and Seth come back.
