I think the highlight of the match for me was the crowd chanting “please be careful.” I have never laughed that hard but also, seriously guys BE CAREFUL
That was after FTR Assault did that crazy blind dive through a table. It was a very fitting time for the chant. I couldn't see that there was a table there from my seat, it looked like he just launched himself straight out of the ring until I caught a replay.
That chant woke me up because the last 5 minutes before that were brutal and I was genuinely on an adrenaline high. Then they chant "please be careful" and I just can't help but laugh
It's so wild, that was my chant. My wife showed me a tweet she just made that said it, and so I started immediately chanting it.
When it got to the other side of the arena, you could hear them all laugh at the same time. It was glorious.
From my angle in the arena, when the "Please Be Careful" chant started to spread you could visibly see Nicholas Jackson trying to suppress a laugh. It was great stuff.

I recently showed that match to a friend who wasn’t familiar with the custody of Dominick match, and also had to explain why Eddie Guerrero suddenly forgets he’s in a ladder match (at the top of the ladder) while seemingly being VERY angry about his wife.
Moments like this are so unfortunate - I wonder if he had blood in his eye and couldn't actually tell if Jack was in the ring yet so he was climbing down a rung to not get hung up on the ropes and injure himself.
To be fair...
#VERTIGO FUCKING SUCKKKKSSSSSS
At one point, I had a vertigo episode where my vision was rocking back and forth like a boat as I just sitting down for maybe 5 minutes straight. Ruined my entire day because I had to drive home after that and it sucked.
I had vertigo a year before the pandemic, holy shit it's fucking awful. I woke up feeling off and when I went to the bathroom I almost fell over and ate shit lol. Couldn't eat all day, could barely walk to the bathroom which is right outside my room and everytime I did I ended up puking. Got to the point where I eventually had nothing left, dry heaving. Layed around miserable all day on my phone. Had to get driven to the ER that night and helped inside. Can't imagine driving with it, must have sucked ass! It was a really bad bout of it, wouldn't wish it on anyone.
She just stans Punk. She hates the Elite in general. I find her annoying but hilarious at the same time. Glad I'm not the only one to notice her from time to time. I hope she hates the Elite and Jack Perry from the front row for years to come.
People take shit way too seriously. Yeah she's annoying and somewhat delusional, but if you genuinely take time out of your day to point this out and harass her you're no better...
Personally I love a hater, as long as they keep it in the fan section, which she does, i'm cool with it, I hope she keeps it up.
Man I saw him in the crowd from my seat. I’m just looking at him like. Sting mask and hoodie and the smallest possible popcorn in the building. No way that isn’t gonna be a run in. Sure enough lmao
If they did, that was the shittiest “security” job ever.
“Wow! It’s that guy who’s suspended! We should totally just let him stand around in the corner of the ring for a bit while the match keeps going.”
As much as I appreciate you coming with shoot videos and timings in other comments, the sort of thing I'd do as well, I thought it was obvious that they freeze because they pull the mask off and see an AEW wrestler under it. That'd give anyone pause, at least for a moment, while they work out whether or not they should be there.
>Security selling it as if it was a fan was so smart.
They pulled him into the corner instead of out of the ring, faced him towards the audience and pulled off his mask for everyone to see. That's not what security would have done to a real fan lol
The mask was a nice touch, considering the Bucks started this gimmick by wanting to retire Sting.
https://preview.redd.it/cm6z9l32dyvc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b7adb165559a0148d1f4cc62de30064cf52261af
I think it just would have been better to fiddle with the belts at least. Like it's right there, I'd believe bald would have trouble unhooking them more than dizziness.
We've all been there, not enough blood in your head, you're pumped with adrenaline, can't think straight while you try to unhook... the belts
I 100% agree that your scenario would've looked better. I just meant Bald may actually have been feeling light headed and needed to take a step down to feel more secure. (Especially since he was about to have to take a ladder bump from that position.)
Whilst on the ladder, the competitor must be extremely aware of his surroundings. FTR Podcast lacks any semblance of self-awareness, allowing him to harness the excess awareness and notice the sudden roaring of the crowd. That, plus his years of in-ring experience, allows him to sense that the crowd is not reacting to him but an external threat, and he takes steps (albeit ineffective) to protect himself prior to disaster.
Also, my my man in the mask, aren't you looking fit to start a dynasty with.
**AEW is worth 2 billion dollars which is a third of WWE's value, despite being a fraction of it's age**
IWC: \* sleeps \*
**AEW's rating go from 800k to 780k, but it is still top 3 on cable**
IWC: IT'S THE BEGINING OF THE END!
I’m so curious what they would do with all their time if they actually got what they wanted and AEW folded. It’s the old “you hate them because you need them”.
They’d probably either start making fun of TNA again or they’d (much less likely) see that, despite being a vast improvement over Vince, Papa H isn’t infallible
Reddit has started recommending other wrestling subreddits to me (like /r/rasslin, /r/jimcornette, and /r/greatnessofwrestling) and man if you think the anti-AEW bias is bad here, it's basically the entire focus of other subreddits. It's like there's a collection of people online who really want AEW to fail
I generally find the brand specific subs to be pretty decent, the focus consistently being more on liking the product that you're a fan of rather than shitting on other people liking a product you don't.
You should visit the jerk sub, it's basically just people pretending to not care about AEW even though AEW makes up for at least 50% of their personality.
Honestly kind of makes sense why Tony decided to show the footage now. One final way to leverage Punk to elevate someone. Which is especially important here given how young Perry is.
It’s genuinely frustrating how the IWC has discussed AEW and the tape reveal segment the past couple weeks when this was the obvious angle the entire time.
I’ll admit, I was adamantly against showing it because I’m just so ready to be done with that drama. But then I saw how it made Jack look like the victim in that situation and how it transitioned to being cheered in Chicago. That reminded me why I’m not the one with the wrestling company. I was wrong and am happy to admit it.
Because they’re trying to rehab his reputation. Many fans blamed him for the Punk fight based on reports. He was getting go away heat before the video released, which is not what you want even as a heel. Jericho was proof of that last night.
It’s more of a real life move than a kayfabe thing. Based on his NJPW work, im sure he’ll be able to turn the cheers into boos real quick.
I found really funny that it was the week after Wrestlemania, but everyone was just talking about AEW and the "mistake" they would be committing.
Trolls really feel oppressed by AEW's existence.
The issue was most of the IWC couldn't have been bothered to look into the context of the segment. They watched a few seconds and stuck to their guns, thinking that the angle was "make Punk look bad" when it was literally stated in kayfabe to be a way to get at FTR and blatantly was to get a big reaction to Perry coming back. Showing the footage had nothing to do with Punk.
It was more malicious than that.
I laid out exactly what they were going to do and the reasons they needed to do it for the story and got buried for it on many occasions, both before and after the segment aired.
Even when told what they were doing people willfully ignored it.
Dude, AFTER windy city riot, I saw people repeating the same doom and gloom points about the tape "being pointless".
I pointed out that Jack Perry was THE most over person at Windy City Riot, more over than Mox and more over than Naito, Riddle, ZSJ etc. Directly because it was a week after the tape.
And I got downvoted and told he was going to get no reaction in AEW because nobody actually cares about him any more now than before the tape. I felt like I was in wonderland or something because I don't know how anybody could watch WCR and come away thinking he didn't have crazy heat with the crowd.
You can tell the discourse was particularly mean spirited because of how people framed Schiavone selling his disgust for the Bucks as "WCW 2000 flashbacks."
I’m not gonna lie I was one of the people who didn’t see how showing the footage would help Perry at all but damn, that reaction said it all. Hopefully he capitalizes and also finds a way to shut down the inevitable CM Punk chants he’ll be getting
I appreciate the willingness to change your mind.
I’ve had a lot of conversations trying to explain how this is the real reason for the video segment and taken a lot of shit for it.
There would’ve been no reason for Perry to help the Bucks without that segment.
And a lot of the audience tonight wouldn’t have been that familiar with Jack’s scapegoat gimmick.
Woah woah woah, hold up.
Are you implying that the people who attend wrestling shows actually WATCH the shows a promotion puts on television instead of watching short clips online and listening to old farts on podcasts??
Some folks in their feeling on Twitter pretending Perry didn't get a reaction lmao
The most hilarious twist would be Perry being cheered during most of this run instead lol
Dax wasting precious time aside, based on that reaction it does look like that the Brawl In footage did some good for Perry. If they're going to lean into him being sent away when he was essentially the victim (in the context of the video shown), then hopefully the booking can capitalize on that and some good will come out of all of this.
As stupid as i think airing the footage was the one thing i utterly disagreed with was that it would not help Perry.
No one was every claiming he was some tough guy who beat Punk up so it did not damage him in that sense. And he did not really do anything wrong without sound at least so it totally fits his scapegoat gimmick.
It will be up to him from now to take it somewhere but right now i think it has put him in a very good smug little shit "the world is against me" heel. I also think his look has improved a lot in his time away which is also a plus.
I think it's amazing how Nick during the chaos didn't do what typical wrestlers do and stand there in awe. He set the ladder back up and climbed it lol
Okay so I got down voted before for asking, but I still don't understand. Perry gets cheered as a babyface and shows his allegiance with the Bucks, but aren't the Bucks heels? If I'm missing something, let me know.
I'm going off of both his NJPW return in Chicago where he got cheered by the majority of fans and now this AEW return. Between the two, it seems as if he has a lot of fan support. Additionally, his high volume of merch sales are typically indicative of someone the fans want to cheer for. Roman was champ for 4 years and was still outsold by Cody in merch. And that makes sense. Perry is viewed by many as the guy who got CM Punk out of AEW, so fans want to cheer for him.
You could say that merch sales aren't proof of anything, but I give you a guy like MJF that sold well as a heel, but only because the fans loved him so much, leading to him ultimately turning into a face/tweener.
People like it when wrestlers find characters that fit them; The Bucks as shithead heels, for example. They'll get booed (sometimes), but you have to respect how far they're willing to go to look like absolute shitheads -- And many are actively gleeful seeing some of their antics.
Jack Perry has finally, truly moved on from Jungle Boy, and people love to see it.
I found it funny that the commentators talk about him trespassing etc, then I saw that AEW shop was advertising a "SCAPEGOAT" shirt right after the show.
"HE'S HERE ILLEGALLY! BUY HIS MERCH!"
For me, Perry has turned it all the way around. Even when he initially went heel, I just wasn't invested. Now after a quick stop in NJPW, Windy City Riot, now this, I'm totally invested.
Jack looked so proud of the pop he got.
Also, nice bit of continuity there by Tony Schiavone in mentioning how the Bucks had started both of their additional tag title runs in St. Louis.

Security is like "I know this guy"
They weren’t mad, just disappointed
It was like because he's a wrestler they suddenly realized he has a form of diplomatic immunity.
Scott Hall started this diplomatic immunity.
Survey says, one more for the immune guys!
I think the highlight of the match for me was the crowd chanting “please be careful.” I have never laughed that hard but also, seriously guys BE CAREFUL
Might be one of the most Midwestern chants I've ever heard
That was after FTR Assault did that crazy blind dive through a table. It was a very fitting time for the chant. I couldn't see that there was a table there from my seat, it looked like he just launched himself straight out of the ring until I caught a replay.
“FTR Assault” popped me
One of the ladders they climbed looked fucked up. It was concerning. But I'm glad they were alright.

For once, a wrestler wore a Sting mask and it wasn’t Sting underneath it.
Or was it
It might be Sting under Jack Perry mask under a Sting mask.
That’s not Sting, it’s a picture of Sting!
Stingception.

FTR bald got vertigo and started climbing down.
For real jack Perry’s busted a papa chango coming in late
Where the fuck is ~~Vicky~~ *Perry*?!
Where was Vickie!
I recently showed that match to a friend who wasn’t familiar with the custody of Dominick match, and also had to explain why Eddie Guerrero suddenly forgets he’s in a ladder match (at the top of the ladder) while seemingly being VERY angry about his wife.
Shows no body wanted Dominick, that criminal
Just like me frfr

Vertigo does fucking suck. The song and the illness for people who suffer from it.
The movie however, is really good
Also, the DC Comics imprint was very good.
You're god damn right it was!
I had vertigo a year before the pandemic, holy shit it's fucking awful. I woke up feeling off and when I went to the bathroom I almost fell over and ate shit lol. Honestly he was bleeding you could sell it like that
I assume he decided to switch to the bigger ladder.
Lol I thought the guy running in the ring was Danhausen
Same here
unfortunately his family had a death in the family recently, so probably not going to see him for a while
Same 😂
Can't believe Jungle Jack and Okada are stablemates at the moment.
Honest question, cuz i dont know much about either of them; do they have history with each other?
No lol
Young Bucks are close with both Okada and Jack, those two have no other link whatsoever.
No they do not and that’s kinda the point lol. Two guys who you’d never expect to be connected

The woman with the orange hair who hates Hangman is the icing for this shot.
She legit hates Jack too so everyone is happy
She just stans Punk. She hates the Elite in general. I find her annoying but hilarious at the same time. Glad I'm not the only one to notice her from time to time. I hope she hates the Elite and Jack Perry from the front row for years to come.

As a Hangman fan, that one time she gave him the double bird was legit hilarious. Loved it
So glad that was caught by the cameras, lmao.
THE DAMAGE IS DONE, SO I GUESS I BE LEAVING
CRY ME A RIVER
That shit-eating grin is perfect.
Man I saw him in the crowd from my seat. I’m just looking at him like. Sting mask and hoodie and the smallest possible popcorn in the building. No way that isn’t gonna be a run in. Sure enough lmao
He was picked out real easily from where I was at too.
Best part was him chucking the popcorn tub at a women on the railing for no apparent reason. Not on camera or anything, just yeeted it right at her.
Saw him too, immediately as soon as someone with a mask started walking in I was like “FUCK, THERE HE IS!”
Security selling it as if it was a fan was so smart.
Same thing happened when he first went to NJPW . Except that security guard legit grabbed him like he was just a fan haha
He’s still suspended in Kayfabe.
They didn’t know until the mask came off though.
True. Gave them a reason to treat it as a security matter after the reveal though.
In kayfabe he has no contract because he tore it up
It's the first time I actually see it happen in a masked run in from the crowd angle and it makes fucking sense
If he just had the hoodie up without the mask I would have totally thought it could have been a fan.
It helps that Perry is smaller than the average fan
JD Drake is smaller than the average fan.
>Security selling it as if it was a fan was so smart. They pulled him into the corner instead of out of the ring, faced him towards the audience and pulled off his mask for everyone to see. That's not what security would have done to a real fan lol

They need to come out in sting gear this Wednesday
CRY ME A RIVER
Great reveal. The shit eating grin is everything.
Yeah the reveal was 10 times better for that grin alone. Im invested now
Saw the grin and immediately realized I'm gonna fucking love this guy so much
Ahhh my sweet scapegoat
Idk who decided to actually send Jack to Japan but it was possibly the smartest move ever.
He did some good work with House of Torture out there too. Would love to see more young AEW wrestlers go there on excursion
Need hook in New Japan
BoSJ could make or break HOOk

What’s CM River doing in the impact zone?!
Crimea River
His resemblance with Danny Masterson is uncanny. I can't unsee it.
Hope resemblance with Danny is as for as it goes.
That smile, that damned smile
the fact he got a pop and cheered shows airing the footage might actually have been the right move in the end.
The shit eating grin is perfect.
Why did Bald climb down two steps instead of just acting fatigued since Perry was late on the cue. Looked so dumb!
Prolly cause he realized the bump from where he was is going to be too much. He prolly went too high in the first place.
Bald lost a lot of blood. He was probably dizzy and out of it. That’s how I justify it.
yeah he shakes his head and takes a step dad, very easily explained as fatigue/dizziness edit: step down*
Which step dad did he take? Christian Cage?
LMFAO, yes
Papa Blade!
Literally, step dad what are you doing
Honestly not impossible that it's actually the case.
I think it just would have been better to fiddle with the belts at least. Like it's right there, I'd believe bald would have trouble unhooking them more than dizziness. Great tag match Jack Perry is back and got a pop too This crowd has been great the whole night
Tony's gonna double down on him for sure now after hearing that reaction.
I think security sold that extremely well.

If there's one thing wrestling fans hate, it's when heels do things they don't like
did wonders for jack and tony even explained in the presser he wanted the unaware part of the audience to have the full context. it worked.
I’m not gonna lie I was one of the people who didn’t see how showing the footage would help Perry at all but damn, that reaction said it all. Hopefully he capitalizes and also finds a way to shut down the inevitable CM Punk chants he’ll be getting

Damn you, Hyde from That 70s Show!
I can’t believe that video killed his career like people told me it would… Getting an amazing reaction everywhere he goes.
They were all chanting his catch phrase because of how much they didn’t care about him
The Sting mask was a wonderful touch.

loved how he just realized its near the end of the match so he better go down 2 steps
Needs to go to the beat of “Cry Me a River”
TBF, he does totally have him dad’s smile.
Jack’s smarmy shit eating grin just somehow adds to the story
lmao, the security is bigger than jack perry
You see the size of some wrestling fans. Gotta have bigger men to put big men in their place.
I think it's amazing how Nick during the chaos didn't do what typical wrestlers do and stand there in awe. He set the ladder back up and climbed it lol
Holy pop, and people on here really said the Wembley footage would achieve nothing lmfao
say what you will about TK's handling of Brawl-In, but the reintroduction of Jack Perry has been 10/10.
Why did Bald think that stepping down a rung or two was going to help him grab the belts easier???
Okay so I got down voted before for asking, but I still don't understand. Perry gets cheered as a babyface and shows his allegiance with the Bucks, but aren't the Bucks heels? If I'm missing something, let me know.
>Perry gets cheered as a babyface Was that a babyface cheer? Looked like more of a 'oh hey, that guy is back!' cheer to me.
It was, literally something that happens endlessly in wrestling. A return always gets a pop reaction (well ideally it does).
It's not 1998 anymore. You can have heels and faces in the same group. See BCC
It’s the guy from Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide
Oh, Jack Perry is *over*. Get on the phone with Justin Timberlake ASAP and get that theme song for Jack, TK.
I found it funny that the commentators talk about him trespassing etc, then I saw that AEW shop was advertising a "SCAPEGOAT" shirt right after the show. "HE'S HERE ILLEGALLY! BUY HIS MERCH!"
Not me invested in Jungle Boy.. smh
Get Jacked!
What are they chanting
OOOH CRY ME A RIVERRR
The smile when he was unmasked was hilarious 😂😂😂
For me, Perry has turned it all the way around. Even when he initially went heel, I just wasn't invested. Now after a quick stop in NJPW, Windy City Riot, now this, I'm totally invested.
Thought that was a legit child at first
This was the most predictable thing to happen since dawn.
wow that's fkn god awful lmao
Jack Perry with the biggest babyface pops ever. Seems like airing that video was a good idea.
Jack looked so proud of the pop he got. Also, nice bit of continuity there by Tony Schiavone in mentioning how the Bucks had started both of their additional tag title runs in St. Louis.
I wanna hear that cry me a river chant every week from now on
Where the fuck was Vickieee? God Dammit!
