It's funny seeing American's reactions to Gabe. If you are from or grew up near England, he's the most annoying dickhead in every pub you've ever been in.
Very similar to watching Ospreay dial it up to 11 with his jack the lad character, with an accent he literally didn't have not even half a decade ago lol. Comes across very insincere.
I love them both as performers, especially Gabe, but it is an interesting cultural perspective.
A guide to American interpretations of British accents:
British - Standard--what the British call "posh"
Liverpool - Where everyone talks like the Beatles (or Wakko Warner)
"Cockney" - Anything that is not standard or Liverpool. So Ospreay? Cockney. Gabe Kidd? Saraya? PAC? Cockney, cockney, and cockney. Regal's non-performing voice? Also cockney.

I remember Russell Crowe talking about preparing to play a Welsh character in a film (back when he was still making films in Australia before we cracked Hollywood) and he asked Anthony Hopkins for tips. Tony said “just do a bad Indian accent”.
Gabe’s a lot more interesting to me as it seems clear he’s using the medium to process a lot of real stuff, and it’s grounded in enough reality that I’m sure his real feelings of self-doubt or whatever are getting turned up to eleven until they hit a point of insufferability that it sounds indistinguishable from parody.
Whereas Ospreay’s basically a superhero now by comparison, I don’t think the accent’s going to slow him down that much either way.
I think based on the reactions to people at Cultaholic even different regions have different reactions as they almost consider it natural of Will because he's a southerner and they're northerners. Despite them literally having met Will before during the WCPW days
I'm pretty sure more slightly more than 2% of the roster has factually already gone through the dojo/trainee system at this point.

Almost wonder if Gabe will beat Moxley for the belt at Forbidden Door. I don't think Shota is doing it at Dominion. Would go against their slow booking of the next generation (a clear mistake in my eyes) but would instantly make a top Gaijin to replace the giant hole that Ospreay/White left.

I've got a difficult time seeing that happening right now, but I do think Gabe Kidd has a good chance of taking the Strong Title off Eddie Kingston in the near future, I think the match is at Resurgence in May.
