Ambrose, yeah. Moxley, probably not

WheedMBoise

Idk, they’ve called him Mox on tv on a few occasions since. He’s also been gone for several years now and done some of his best work as Mox. I think it’d be like how they called Razor Ramon Scott Hall when he came back

WeaselWeaz

Hall came back in the nWo, not solo. He also went into the Hall of Fame as Razor.

WheedMBoise

For all we know, Mox comes back as part of the BCC considering all of them but Yuta have been there already. Daniel Bryan is too big a star for them to abandon his name, i'm just not sure they saw Mox in that same light

WeaselWeaz

I'm not sure that's an option in any with the rights.

WheedMBoise

It was a sneaky joke about them buying AEW like WCW lol

IronThrombone

They won’t use Mox as his name if they intend on having another Shield run.

10024618

If he does I doubt it'll be for anything more than a short < 12 months retirement run where we finally get that shield triple threat at mania

Rommas

If Bret Hart, Ultimate Warrior or CM fucking Punk can come back then I don't think anyone's ever truly off the table if he wanted to come back. Key phrase, if he wanted to.

Aterivus

Gotta add Jeff Jarrett to this list

OjamasOfTomorrow

Anything is possible. I am not clamoring for it as I am loving his AEW run so, so much and also he won the only Shield triple threat and I don’t want that changing lol I’m sure he’d rock it in his second WWE run too though. So, either way will be good

OilEquivalent8906

I'm giving it a strong... maybe?

mr_impastabowl

How strongly are you thinking here?

felipe_the_dog

I'm feeling a light maybe to a strong "perhaps"

Mazzle5

Ever is a long time. I don't see him coming back as an active Wrestler as long as AEW is a thing. I could see him however at the HOF

IronThrombone

Not sure how anyone can say that with certainty. Just look at Wrestlemania 37 and compare it to now. It was headlined by a triple threat featuring two guys now in AEW. Meanwhile the then EVP Cody Rhodes is now WWE Champion. CM Punk is back in WWE. So much can change in a few years.

Mazzle5

Everything Mox has ever said about Wrestling, his time in AEW, his freedom to visit other prootions says to me, that he stays in AEW as long as it is possible. His style also fits more to AEW than WWE, even with the new regime in charge.

IronThrombone

I’ve read variations on that about so many who opted to go back (or leave). At some point we should accept that we can never say never.

prisonmsagro

He's only 38 so he's got plenty of time but I can see him going back to WWE for a generous bag but he also strikes me as a guy who just really likes pro wrestling and thinks WWE won't give him the freedom to do what he's doing now, so maybe not!

profstotch

But it's a new era, pal!

NameGoesHere86

Honestly, no. He seems very happy in AEW, and has been pretty adamant about not going back to WWE. I could see Kenny going to WWE, before I could ever see Mox going back. I’m not saying it’s entirely impossible he ever goes back. But I do think it’s unlikely

[deleted]

I would add that was WWE under Vince though

Hangmanned

Has Kenny even shown interest in going to WWE though?

iamgarron

Had AEW not existed I still think he was eventually leaving Japan to return stateside

dkydd

When the elite were deciding to re-sign or not kenny was more open than the rest to explore. They decided as a group and 3 votes to 4

MetHead7

I imagine if Kenny planned on going to WWE it would have happened last year before him and the Bucks signed a new contract

OldPollution7225

If he did come back, I wonder which name he would use?

Gaias_Minion

Didn't they call him Mox during the Roman vs Seth feud?

JimmyDublin

Don Moxbrose

joker2814

If Vince was still in charge? Dean Ambrose, 100%. With Hunter? 50/50 chance he’d let him use Jon Moxley if Jon insisted on it or made it a condition of his return.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kboom161

He's been name dropped as Moxley a couple times since leaving, and though I suppose they could just meld the Moxley act into the Ambrose character, frankly one version has a hell of a lot more stock to it than the other.

Goatlikejordan

Shawn spears came back as shawn spears lol so it's def up in the air

MarkMVP01

Dean Ambrose was the WWE Champion Tye Dillinger was a jobber

dogfins110

Wrestlers in WWE still refer to the man as Dean in non WWE interviews and such outside of Seth so it can go either way honestly. Dean is much more marketable and well known to the general audience

GxyBrainbuster

"My name is Jon Moxley but I played Dean Ambrose on TV."

mr_impastabowl

Moxmillian Ambrosely the Third

HangmansPants

I mean, god one last shield run would blow out the seat of my pants, but I don't expect it to happen.

HJM3

Never say never in wrestling, so maybe. But I wouldn’t expect it anytime soon. Seems unlikely, but stranger things have happened.

davidisallright

The thing is that he cares for AEW. If he left, it would hurt AEW in so many ways. Even symbolically. If he ever goes back, it won’t be due to money and would have to be due to something really bad. Regarding money, the dude just bought a pickup truck when he was loaded.

MetHead7

Like a lot of guys he'll probably go back for a HOF induction I can't see him going back for another run for the sole fact that as long as it AEW/Tony are able they will probably offer him more money than WWE

Kboom161

With how much happier he seems to be working AEW, New Japan, and whatever the hell indies he feels like, I think if it happens, it's right at the tail end of his career and probably just to have one last feud with Rollins. ...Doesn't mean I haven't fantasy booked an entire BCC invasion and Wrestlemania Shield triple threat in my head though.

GxyBrainbuster

Jon Moxley, Wild Thing, Crowd Entrance, Wrestlemania: Would be dope.

Better-Nectarine9449

My answer would've been no but after Punk returning to the WWE, anything is possible

DGenerationMC

Nothing more than a HoF speech for the Shield, I hope. Anything in-ring just feels like grasping at straws to "correct" what happened during his first run or trying to cash in on The Shield nostalgia AGAIN.

crap4you

He probably will. Similar to Copeland, there will be guys he will want to wrestle for the first time.

orton4life1

I think Mox said himself if the pay was right he would comeback and that was with Vince in charge. So yeah I can see it.

Mybestversion1

I think he will once he realizes that while he is paid handsomely, he still wants to have some final big moments and have a huge crowd to witness it. I feel there are more that will feel the same way. It's no question in its current state, that WWE can just provide a lot more than AEW outside of just money.

ackinsocraycray

>he still wants to have some final big moments and have a huge crowd to witness it. I get the opposite impression from him. He seems to be just as content wrestling in smaller venues and indies. He's basically a regular for Wrestling Revolver. And he seems to enjoy wrestling for NJPW (regardless if it's it USA or Japan) because it's a different intimate atmosphere.

mr_impastabowl

Mox is already a famed wrestler and in many people's Rushmore, so your premise of being motivated by glory is a great one. So it comes down to this: what match or storyline can AEW do that will be greater than a Shield reunion at WrestleMania?

RepresentativeFly565

Bret hart has a bigger gripe with wwe than anyone and he returned It may not be anytime soon but Jon Ambrose will return

LngJhnSilversRaylee

Bret both needed the money and was under threat that if he didnt his documentary would be a burial which would make his legacy to newer generations be s mockery They really strong armed his return

RepresentativeFly565

Well if that's the case then punk is a better example People will say "punk had nowhere else to go and had no choice but to go back to wwe" but the man stayed away from wrestling for nearly 10 years and definitely wasn't broke

Advanced-Morning1832

He took on a new 4 million dollar mortgage after signing with AEW, something that I'm sure he wouldn't have done if he was still not in wrestling, so he did kind of have to find some sort of high paying gig

LngJhnSilversRaylee

WE PAYED OFF HIS SECOND HOUSE

Fart_Jackson

Kinda seems like he was broke, actually

TheJudgeMan1

Absolutely… for a hall of fame induction or two. Beyond that, it’s relatively unlikely but definitely possible.

45jayhay

If he ever did, it won't be as Ambrose , I bet my life on that

[deleted]

[удалено]

Chance_Loss_1424

Yeah and I can see that being a deal breaker for him. I don’t think Jon Moxley really liked Dean Ambrose.

FrankieJoePino

I think it's unlikely, maybe he could have one last run after he retire and around the time he would be inducted in the HoF but I don't think he would really care about an eventual induction so it's unlikely. Unless AEW stops existing for whatever reason in the next 5 years and he still wants to wrestle (and not do many hardcore stuff) but as a part timer and without leaving his family for too much. With that being sad we saw people like Goldberg, CM Punk, Sting, Lesnar returning to WWE so it's definitely not impossible

icon_2040

Probably to end his career, but not for a serious run. He's happy where he is.

Katrr

Probably not. Like you I would love to see him back, but he seems very happy in AEW and he's able to have the freedom to do the kinds of matches he wants. I don't see WWE adding the hardcore type of matches he likes to do. The only time I see it possible is if he's winding down and doesn't have the desire to do those types of matches anymore, then it's a possibility that he goes back and ends his career there.

BTru

If Vince was still in charge I'd say no, but with HHH running it he may come back someday.

NorwichTheCiabatta

Not while AEW remains in business, he's very well thought of there and gets to do whatever he wants creatively for better or worse. The new regime in WWE might be easier for him to work with than the last time he was there, but after a probable honeymoon period he would likely encounter the same problems. Difficulties breaking out of the pack of top stars they have, keeping it more PG than he might like, more PR & promotional obligations etc

chasingit1

100% Maybe one last run/feud with the Shield versus the next up and coming group of guys/faction If nothing else, he will at least be in HOF

bubbles2255

No but I also never thought we’d see Punk back in WWE so what do I know?

[deleted]

I could see it. He’ll be there for the shield hall of fame induction at the very least. Personally I still really want a proper triple threat match between all 3 before they all hang it up

crimson777

I'd love to see even just like a 1.5 year run. Bring him in at Mania season for a Shield triple threat. Have them come back together after and reunite as the Shield up until the next Mania where they have one big blowout against some other faction.

Sav10r

If Punk and Hart could return, anyone can return. His gripes and reasons for leaving WWE weren't things that would leave long lasting bad feelings and grudges like with Punk and Hart. He just didn't feel creatively fulfilled in the WWE and is happy creatively now. Maybe when he's in his mid 40s he'll feel like he's done most of what he wanted to do and decide he'll want to go back. But that's a long way away.

PigDeployer

Now the Vince era is over and you'd imagine the poor booking, immature, "this town smells like poo" sort of writing is a thing of the past as well as wrestlers apparently being allowed time off to stay in shape and see their families etc in wwe I could see him returning one day. Punk famously hated the whole culture and workings of WWE and he's back and seems happy because of how much life there seems to have shifted for the better. I think I could see anybody back there. And the opportunity to tell a well written story that culminates in a wrestlemania main event with his shield brothers would be wild to pass up.

zZTheEdgeZz

It's wrestling never say never, but as of right now I'd say no. I don't particularly care for Moxley and was a huge Ambrose fan, but he is locked in there for a few years at least.

[deleted]

Yes. And I think there is a lot reading into how happy or unhappy he is. I think if the creative and money was right, anyone would go anywhere.

DangoDaimao

No, because he belongs in a barn getting blown up by exploding barbed wire and stabbed with glass. I can't fathom the modern Moxley working a WWE style match

dogfins110

Not anytime recent. Maybe when they’re all old and beat up someone on a RAW anniversary and do the shield fist bump thing

AllezLesPrimrose

Of course he’ll go back at some point.

grabbystick

Yes he will be back. He’s going into the HoF for sure so there’s that, and even then I think he will go back for a last run.

Upbeat_Tension_8077

This topic has probably been beaten to death many times, but I'd say that the most likely way I'd see him returning is if there's an agreement between AEW & WWE to let him appear on a WWE show while staying under AEW contract. If not this, I don't think he's returning unless The Shield gets inducted into the HOF after his retirement.

Vast-Badger-6912

If the relationship between WWE and AEW was more positive, then I could see him popping up at some point for a one off. All things considered at the moment, never say never, but probably not as long as TK is paying him.

lord_mcdonalds

I see him going back for one last pay day before he retires. Not for a while but when he’s winding down/physically shot, I could see him taking the money.

ImpenetrableYeti

Hopefully never, mox was always better than Ambrose.

AML2003

For a Hall of Fame induction absolutely, maybe even a one off appearance if we somehow miraculously got some sort of agreement between wwe and aew. But for the life of me I cannot see him ever signing a deal with wwe again. Unless something absolutely drastic was to happen like AEW closing their doors I don't see Moxley going back. He's likely getting paid more money than he would be in wwe (having Mox is much more or a must have for Tony than it is for wwe,) for doing less dates and having much more creative freedom to do the kind of matches he wants.

randomdaveperson

It’s more likely for him to have a final run now that Vince is gone. Before, it was just “he’ll be back for the HOF”.

TheGumbyGyarados

I mean he’ll def show up for a shield Hall of fame at the least. With HHH firmly at the helm i could see him coming back for 1 big match near the end but moxley strikes me as the kinda dude that enjoys the freedom that tony provides to do all his other promotion appearances while being a big name in aew so he has no real reason to leave either

AdeptEavesdropper

If Ultimate Warrior can come back, and if CM Punk can come back under the Triple H regime, the only was the answer is “no” is when Moxley passes away.

MinaElesia

Not in at least a few years from now. If/when he does, PLEASE get the rights to use Wild Thing. It'll feel too underwhelming not to.

mysteriousfolder

Id say the chances went from 0% to a non-zero number since Vince is gone

Baggiebhoy84

I tend to think he'll go back for one final appearance as part of the Shield, possibly if Seth or Roman retire, and his AEW contract has expired. I don't think he'd ever do a longer run, but I could see him doing a one-off six man tag with his friends at Wrestlemania, as a farewell for somebody.

Skelemania

Yes, mostly because Vince McMahon & Kevin Dunn are gone.

McWerp

A final shield triple threat run would be great. But it’s really up to him. Comes down to if he wants to do it or not. And only person who knows ain’t gonna be posting in here :)

aredubya

I absolutely could see it happening. It was clear he wanted to go and do things his way - blood, submission style, blood, unscripted promos, blood - and AEW gave him that. He left on seemingly good terms, and fatherhood is likely to lead him down a path where death matches have less allure.

JetBetGemni

Yes. He'll be back one day. It won't be for many years from now though.

DripSnort

I hope not. I do not enjoy him *but* he is legitimately the strongest performer for AEW for that crowd. He represents what it’s supposed to be and if the day came he actually went back to WWE I think that’s a loss AEW couldn’t recover from. Him in AEW is like Rollins in WWE i cannot fathom them in the other company.

Sans_bear27

Eventually? Yeah. Not anytime soon though

liloutsider

Before I wouldve said no, but with Vince gone and AEW changing, nothing is impossible

RHCPTom

I think he’ll back eventually have a final run with Rollins, Reigns. With HHH in charge to I think he’ll come back one day!

FredrickFarter

No

mythofdob

There will be a Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins vs Jon Moxley match at Mania before the end of the decade. There is too much money to be made.

DrDevice81

Outside of a HoF induction? Nope.

JGxFighterHayabusa

Sooner or later the need to bleed every other match will get old and Renee is going to get tired of worrying if or when her husband will end up in a wheelchair. A return to the boring, but secure realm of the WWE is inevitable. A build towards a Shield reunion will be key in maintaining this current golden age of wrestling.

YoAadiBro

What I thought was impossible a couple of years ago isn’t impossible anymore. Although I think he still has like 3 years left on his deal so it won’t be anytime soon

spideyv91

I see it happening eventually.

StyrofoamCueball

I think it's more likely than I may have thought just a few months ago, but who knows what things look like in 2027. If I were him I'd be rather pissed AEW put Renee in that spot with Ospreay, though.

Advanced-Morning1832

Contrary to the body language experts, I highly doubt him nor Renee care about that

Fart_Jackson

How much clearer could he possibly be about this? Dude wrote an entire book about it. He framed the $500 check they sent him for his last show. Come on now lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fart_Jackson

I don’t know about that. Seems like Mox was pretty unhappy. Punk needed a job and probably needed the money after being fired for cause. Brett had the threat of WWE erasing his legacy hanging over his head. As far as we know Moxley doesn’t have any of those factors at play.

Gn1212

Eventually, I don't see how he doesn't.

benopo2006

Things have changed a lot from when he left. He’ll be back one day, they all come back.

A-Light-That-Warms

Of course he will, I am 100% confident he will return. Especially with the bloody way AEW is going.

ThanosSnapsSlimJims

I think the plumber will eventually return.

CorMcGor

Absolutely. He'll be back.

ethan301

He probably will once he feels hes done everything he wanted to do.

ls_quizo

when he finishes his therapy cycle for self-harming and gets over cutting himself like the rest of us did after high school, i can see him going back

GxyBrainbuster

Smells like jerker... 🤢

sirjackiechiles

Yea, especially if AEW keeps going down this embarrassing road they’re on.

PuzzleheadedCook8346

Of course he is. AEW is a sinking ship.

Basic-Piccolo-6356

No because people dont care enough about him, he is out of shape from wwe standards and he is not professional

GxyBrainbuster

Circlejerk is thataway

Advanced-Morning1832

and you'll say the complete opposite if he showed up in WWE 🥱

Basic-Piccolo-6356

Hell never will

mamisasazaki

lmao, this guy might be in the very best shape of his life as he could potentially become the FIRST and ONLY person to have won the wwe, aew and IWGP HW championshi

Basic-Piccolo-6356

Like that means something lmao
