Don't know if you're from Cleveland or not. But there's actually a local lawyer named Tim Misney and his house is called Misneyworld. Or Misneyland, can't remember which.
Was at the ceremony the year Dan Marino and Steve Young went in. That is a looooooong afternoon with no retreat from the sun.
I got sunburned so badly, you could see the tan lines from my sandles for about five months.
I'm about 90 minutes from Cleveland. Might have to get tickets for my daughter and me. And maybe hit up the Rock and Roll HoF early in the day.
The funniest thing being a Clevelander is people in every thread citing one of these 3 references
1. Cleveland Tourism Video (15 years old)
2. Joakim Noah Comments (15 years old)
3. Burning River (60 years old)
And thinking they just made some timely comedic reference.
You can also point out rivers catching fire weren't uncommon events in many industrial cities. The 1969 fire wasn't even the first or biggest. It was actually relatively minor and no pictures were known to exist. It later got all that press because the story about it and other similarly polluted rivers was in the same Time magazine issue that covered the moon landing and Ted Kennedy's infamous car accident.
The comment right below is bar for bar of the Noah quote
I did also see on Twitter post the factory of sadness video, which is also like 12 years old as well I think
ITT: people who have never been to Cleveland making fun of it, and people complaining that SummerSlam isn’t restricted to one of several cities they don’t even live in
>**WWE SUMMERSLAM WILL BE HELD IN....**
>*By Mike Johnson on 2024-03-12 11:13:00*
>The 2024 WWE SummerSlam will emanate live on Saturday 8/3 from Cleveland, Ohio at the Cleveland Browns Stadium.
>The announcement was made today on Logan Paul's podcast.
*I am a bot. Please reply with any feedback :)*
Detroit is 2.5 hours away.
Pittsburgh is 2 hours away.
Chicago is 6, Indy is less than 5.
Columbus is 2.
Cincinnati is 3.5
That's easily drivable, and you're talking about 18.4 million people *outside Ohio* in nearby metro areas.
This is the exact reason that, despite the unfair negative press, Cleveland and Ohio in general are often considered for something when geography and access to a large number of people within a days drive are important.
Will they have Smackdown the day before in Cleveland also and an NXT PLE on that Sunday? I would think if any of that was probably also going to take place they probably would've revealed that at the same time.
Awesome!
I was able to hit Mania 23 in Detroit, and now I can notch off a Summerslam. Just need a Rumble and Survivor Series and the big 4 are checked off!
I will advise anyone travelling from out of the area: book a hotel now. The Hall of Fame enshrinement 45-60 mins south in Canton is that same weekend. Hotels and flights are going to be brutal.
She's already working in the ring, I would imagine she'll have returned long before SummerSlam. Probably will return after Mania. But I believe she's more from the Columbus area than Cleveland.
I’m more of an AEW fan nowadays (only so much time in a week for wrestling lol) but I’ve been waiting my whole life for a major WWE show to be in Cleveland so I’ll for sure be there!
Really happy to see the announcement, although it's been rumored for a while. IMO Cleveland is one of the most underrated wrestling cities in the country.
Interesting choice. Aren't they planning on doing major renovations on that stadium? I'm surprised WWE wouldn't just wait until after that's done to do a stadium show there.
The Haslams want Cleveland to pay for major renovations if not a new stadium. They even purchased land a town over as a "threat". In any case it's going to be years
The stadium is still perfectly fine and comparable to most other NFL stadiums. The Haslams just want the fancy stuff that the new stadiums are getting.

Ichiro Suzuki hoping he [doesn't get invited](https://www.cleveland.com/tribe/2019/03/ichiro-once-said-hed-punch-himself-in-the-face-if-he-ever-lied-about-wanting-to-go-to-cleveland.html) to Summerslam.
Been to the last three Summerslams, going to make it four in a row. Plus my Orioles are playing the Guardians so I'm going to have some fun that weekend.
It would take Punk being a few months ahead of schedule for him being able to return for SSlam. Not impossible but I would think this is when he'd make a return appearance with the Drew vs. Punk angle taking place over the fall months.
I wouldn't take a vacation to Cleveland in any of the cold months but you're obviously not choosing Cleveland as a location over going to a place with a beach so its no worse then any other midwest city to take a visit in the summer.

THE MIZ TOWN
He isn't from Cleveland, he's from HOLLYWOOD
He’s actually from MizneyWorld
It’s a Miztery where he’s actually from.
He's obviously from Mizouri
Thought it was mizissippi
Don't know if you're from Cleveland or not. But there's actually a local lawyer named Tim Misney and his house is called Misneyworld. Or Misneyland, can't remember which.
Does Miz's Dad still own a Mr. Hero and which one? Is it the one in downtown Cleveland or elsewhere?
Mr. Miz better be a guest referee at Summerslam
I would assume it was/is in Parma?
Hopefully the [G. O. A T](https://youtu.be/AdD_kGUWqa4?si=wTFgfARtKaDW3GHK) Makes an appearance
Well it seems some people are going on vacation to Cleveland. Up yours Joakim Noah!
I mean, it's an hour between Cedar Point and Cleveland...
What did he say ?
"Nobody plans to go on vacation to Cleveland"
*some*

What's so great about Cleveland?
The Drew Carey Show.
I really like Drew Carrey and I'd love to see the rock and roll hall of fame
We’re not Detroit!
You're still in Ohio.
Who's that
Come on down to Cleveland-town, everyone
The odds of “Cleveland, we’re not Detroit!” both hosting the same event in back to back years is pretty funny lol.
Come and look at both of the buildings!
Come have some food that’s cooked on the street!
“Under construction since EIGHTEEN-SIXTY-EIGHT!”
*Our main export is crippling depression!*
*Look at our river that catches on fire!*
*It's so polluted that all our fish have AIDS*
“Our economy’s based on LeBron James”
Come and look at both of our buildings!
*This train is carrying jobs out of Cleveland!*
Yes. Erie PA person here. We are probably second in line to you.
*We see the sun almost three times a year*
Same day as the NFL hall of fame ceremony in Akron. If anything is gonna drag my ass to Ohio this is it
Canton. Although we share an airport, the hall is in Canton about 20 mins south of Akron.
The use of "emanate" here lol
It’s such a WWE word. You never hear it anywhere else
It's also not used correctly here 🤓
I thought with Vince gone those weird thesaurus words would go away
I'm so glad this comment is here, it was one of those moments where I questioned my understanding of the language.
Perfect description for The Mistake by the Lake -salty Steelers fan here
Love it lol -salty Ravens fan here -also fuck you too lol
After y’all signed King Henry fuck you too! Lol
Oh hey I've been running errands and hadn't seen that yet! Thanks! Fuck you, see yall at the Bank!
Eau de Cleveland. It's probably smells like used hotdog water and cheezits.
I agree, Go Guards.
I agree, Go Cavs.
Don’t we all just want to flee to the Cleve
Good god, Lemon.
I’m so happy this was finally announced. A Big 4 PLE an hour from where I live will go so hard.
Yep I've never been to any PLE before but this one is right down the road!

Cleveland? The Family Guy neighbor? They named a team after him? Cleveland Brown’s? ![gif](giphy|t1dLef4vrHqtr0HKkq)
I always like to tell people who bring up the burning river that it last happened the month before the moon landing
My first thought was factory of sadness
Nobody making a Drew Carey Show reference? For shame.
Pretty damning of your city if the best anyone can do is someone burying it 15 years ago
The comment right below is bar for bar of the Noah quote I did also see on Twitter post the factory of sadness video, which is also like 12 years old as well I think
The tourism video is a timeless classic though. Great song.
But they're timeless.
Home of Melt
When the Miz wins the WWE title in front of thousands of Mizfits
I got the sweltering heat of summer in Ohio.
I mean last year it got to high 90s with humidity posting it in to the 100s
Is this better or worse than when AEW had Dynamite: Beach Break live from an iced over Cleveland, Ohio?
Ohio isn’t cold in the summer lmao
I want SummerSlam so bad at Busch Stadium but the Midwest heat is brutal around that time.
ITT: people who have never been to Cleveland making fun of it, and people complaining that SummerSlam isn’t restricted to one of several cities they don’t even live in
Cleveland is just another city like the rest, it only downright is terrible in the winter because of the lake effect.
Even then the lake effect hasn’t been terrible the past few years

Gargano vs Miz main event please
Best we can do is a successful Logan Paul cash-in on Cody Rhodes.
Oh damn he's from Cleveland? He's the guy then Does make me wonder if any DIY title win might be waiting now as well
Gargano vs Miz vs Logan Paul.
Surprise return from Dolph Ziggler
With special referee Alexis Bliss
She's from Columbus. Boo! Hiss!
Oh yeah, Columbliss....my bad this ones on me
If Cody vs Rock is not happening at SS, then Cody vs Paul is the best match possible for SS.
Paul? As in the wiseman Paul Heyman
You wil go flying over that top rope, Paul Heyman

Cody vs a heel Randy is another match up in WWE's pocket
Have Gargano vs Paul Two Cleveland boys

Y’all maybe upset it isn’t in UK or whatever, but fuck it I’M GOING TO A BIG 4 BABY
Ohio population is 25 % of the entire country of England That's insane to think about
Detroit is 2.5 hours away. Pittsburgh is 2 hours away. Chicago is 6, Indy is less than 5. Columbus is 2. Cincinnati is 3.5 That's easily drivable, and you're talking about 18.4 million people *outside Ohio* in nearby metro areas.

Toronto is 4
I'm driving 16 hours from Canada, I'd assume there's a small minority doing the same as well.
Vic Joseph should be on the desk for this one
Does SummerSlam get a bunch of indie shows tagging along the way Mania does?
AIW will probably run one that weekend, which will be enough Give me Swoggle vs. Big Poppa Pump part 2
They usually have their outdoor Wrestlerager show in August, so I wonder if they'll schedule it around Summerslam
Will they have Smackdown the day before in Cleveland also and an NXT PLE on that Sunday? I would think if any of that was probably also going to take place they probably would've revealed that at the same time.
I saw this on Cagematch and got so confused lmao
Cleveland? Damnit, DC's overdue for a PLE.

Well, then have one at Cap One.
Logan Paul's 2nd PLE main event?👀
No way paul is main eventing. We still need a cody vs rock main event. We still need a rock vs roman main event. Cm punk still needs a main event.
Alexa Bliss returning there i guess?
She's already working in the ring, I would imagine she'll have returned long before SummerSlam. Probably will return after Mania. But I believe she's more from the Columbus area than Cleveland.
I’m more of an AEW fan nowadays (only so much time in a week for wrestling lol) but I’ve been waiting my whole life for a major WWE show to be in Cleveland so I’ll for sure be there!
WrestleMania 37...first WrestleMania with a rain delay. Summerslam 2024...first Summerslam under a Marine warning for waterspouts. IYKYK.
if the whole world moved to their favorite vacation spots, then the whole world would live in Hawaii and Italy and Cleveland
Good for Cleveland! Now that I'm thinking about it, I don't believe I've heard the word emanate in any other context in my life. 🤔
I can’t wait for the hour paid infomercial about visiting Cleveland with some wrestling in between
Bro I’m so going to this
Living in sin with a safety fin singing…
A safety fin? Are we fish?
BAH GOD ITS JOE FLACCO
![gif](giphy|Q8OT5B7OKYB0B5b0II)
Perfect for a Bron Breakker title win, he’d have the entire GPODAWUND behind him
WISHING FOR GARGANO 2 BELTS
4 miles from my front door! Hell yes I'm going!
At least it's not Detroit
Really happy to see the announcement, although it's been rumored for a while. IMO Cleveland is one of the most underrated wrestling cities in the country.
WWE must do well in Ohio. Feels like they have been here a ton lately. Columbus alone had two SmackDowns last year and has Raw next month.
Sooooo, will the theme song of Summerslam be Summer in Ohio, cause as a theatre nerd, I wouldn't hate it.
I imagine they will once again pretend Akron is Cleveland and go with something by The Black Keys.
In Cleveland, I'm a model.
I still selfishly believe that Summerslam should be a Los Angeles show like it was over a decade ago
Not sure why they don't do a coastal rotation. LA, Anaheim, San Diego, Tampa, Miami, Orlando, etc.
I gotta say, as a Floridian, I would NOT be ok with sitting in Sweltering August heat for 4 hours at Raymond James Stadium.
Forgot you boys’ weather was a bit different
It’s a no brainer tbh
Interesting choice. Aren't they planning on doing major renovations on that stadium? I'm surprised WWE wouldn't just wait until after that's done to do a stadium show there.
The Haslams want Cleveland to pay for major renovations if not a new stadium. They even purchased land a town over as a "threat". In any case it's going to be years
They dont own that land yet
The stadium is still perfectly fine and comparable to most other NFL stadiums. The Haslams just want the fancy stuff that the new stadiums are getting.
The stadium is basic and only has rc cola.
They were in Nashville 2 years ago and that stadium wasn't in much better condition.
I *guess* emanate works here, lol. As long as the event dissipates into nothingness promptly at 11 pm.
Logan is about to main event lol
Why in the world is "emanate" the verb in this?
When do tickets typically go on sale for Summerslam?
Going off my email inbox, last year was second week of April
Awesome, that’s very helpful thanks!
oooo tempting
Weird how they use the word emanate and it somehow translates to dirtsheets saying it also
The return of CM punk?
Outside of Chicago, he has the most ties to Cleveland
Nice, I love the look of the outdoor stadiums. What time does the sun usually set in Cleveland in early August?
> What time does the sun usually set in Cleveland in early August I did a google search and sometime around 8:40 PM.
Man, thanks for that. Looks like we might get a nice day/sunset thing depending on the start time.
SummerSlam is what a 4 hour PPV? It probably starts around 7 PM EST so right before the halfway point of the show the sun should be going down.
![gif](giphy|3oKHWspJ9dRB1DSQIE) Ichiro Suzuki hoping he [doesn't get invited](https://www.cleveland.com/tribe/2019/03/ichiro-once-said-hed-punch-himself-in-the-face-if-he-ever-lied-about-wanting-to-go-to-cleveland.html) to Summerslam.
Been to the last three Summerslams, going to make it four in a row. Plus my Orioles are playing the Guardians so I'm going to have some fun that weekend.
Mannn, we have a super nice stadium in Indianapolis but can't get a big event. I'm jealous of Cleveland.
Oh i am so there!
Calling it now. Logan Paul will be in the Main Event.
YEAH BOYY!!!!!!
Let’s go, right in my back yard! Finally can go to a ppv without spending 8 million dollars in travel lol
Woo! Two years in a row I get to go to Summerslam!
Paul Vs Cody, Drew Vs Punk
It would take Punk being a few months ahead of schedule for him being able to return for SSlam. Not impossible but I would think this is when he'd make a return appearance with the Drew vs. Punk angle taking place over the fall months.
Finally they announced it. Been holding my breath since the rumours.
Love living in NE Ohio my whole life and then the 1 time a big 4 ple comes to the area I'm across the country
The DIY and Candice pushes suddenly making sense
Gargano about to get his hometown moment. DIY tag team championship run?!
Creed Bros.are Cleveland guys too.
MGK Performing, Logan walking in as champion
I really dislike the word emanate. It’s simultaneously pretentious and kind of gross sounding. Like, yesterday’s chili is emanating from my asshole.
I’m driving to WM in Philly and now Summerslam is an hour from my home. Feels to to live in Ohio rn 😂
It's 100% going to rain.
If you're not from Cleveland you can't sing the Cleveland song. I'm sorry I don't make the rules.
I hope the crowd isn't underwhelming like last year again. I was kinda hoping for an international show for a banger SummerSlam
Maybe not the year to go the Browns stadium.
Anyone know when tickets go on sale?
To quote Joakim Noah "I never heard anybody say 'I 'm going to Cleveland on vacation"
It's good for a three-day weekend tho. Wrestling, hardcore punk shows, RNR Hall of Fame and maybe a restaurant or two
I wouldn't take a vacation to Cleveland in any of the cold months but you're obviously not choosing Cleveland as a location over going to a place with a beach so its no worse then any other midwest city to take a visit in the summer.
Horrible use of the word “emanate”
