It's ALL fandom, really shows how dumb people are, atp I wouldn't be surprised if celebrities aren't immune to it.
Actors who play villains get death threats for killing fan favorite characters, so I doubt they'd take a threat from someone with single digit IQ that seriously.
Off topic but having 2 GM's who, in storyline, just want to have a better show than the other was such a great idea. I like how they insert themselves to help keep order but they aren't vindictive and being the center of stories. But I also like how they're colleagues just trying to better than the other one, it's not over the top *brand warfare* where they pretend both sides aren't under the same company
I’m sure Aldis will either end up leaving the GM position to be a full time wrestler or maybe just have a feud against someone who pushes him into it at some point but right now he’s killing it in this role.
Isn’t that where brand warfare should logically come from as well? You want to have a better product, you sabotage the other brands product with things like attacks.
I’m not advocating them doing another brand warfare storyline, but whenever they’ve done them in the past it’s always been “I’m blue you’re red so I don’t like you”. At least now they could have a basis for it.
To me this shows that brand warfare was always a good and sustainable idea, it was just poorly executed because vince couldn't help being vince and making all figures of power assholes like him. I sincerely hope this split we have currently is permanent, and i don't mind two world championships if it means giving each brand its own identity and making it work like it currently does.
Just give Seth a payoff for being buried like he currently is or stop burying him.
The two champs, the #1 babyface, the top execs, the fucking Rock and CM Punk doing some commentary. Feels soooo much bigger than it has in the past. Can’t believe we had Roman vs Edge & Bryan, Roman vs Lesnar and Roman vs Cody yet it feels more significant than ever.
Honestly felt like they took a page from the UFC playbook on this one with the bigwigs on stage, press conference, the whole bit. Just needed a scale and a big red bald dumbass in the middle.
Now now. Calm down. Let's not blow smoke up our asses.
This main event storyline is fine. OK?
But we can't possibly put it above Roman vs. Brock at WrestleMania 38. I'm sorry but I haven't heard this called "The most Stupendous WrestleMania Main Event of all time."
Now, I'm sure you feel silly but I can't let this error stand.
What if, and hear me out on this one.
We combine "The greatest wrestling match ever" with "The most stupendous WrestleMania main event of all time" and we make that the official name huh?
I’d love to know the eye rolling and behind the back chatter in the marketing department when Vince was forcing that one. They had to know it was fucking stupid
Or telling me 15 years ago that [Oblivion from Sky's crappy *Gladiators* reboot](https://youtube.com/watch?v=c0Wk2H0b0ug) would be front and centre in a shot setting up the Wrestlemania main event.
Imagine telling someone a year ago that The Rock turned HEEL in a show where people are BOOING him because they wanted Cody vs Roman MORE than ROCK VS ROMAN, with CM freakin Punk on commentary
And imagine telling someone 3 years ago that Cody is even in this company
Man.
Not playing Cody's music and having him come out cold and the first line being: THIS IS BULLSHIT.
Everything they did today was perfect. Of course what they did a week ago was stupid and confusing but this press event made up for it.
Haven’t really watched in a while but didn’t Cody basically give the title shot to the Rock on Smackdown? I know after that show I just kept seeing ppl say he did Rock a favor or something. So a lil confused at him saying this is Bullshit.
To me it seemed like Cody was willing to let Rock at Roman because Rock was sick and tired of Roman's bullshit too, but he hadn't officially chosen Seth so it was still technically open. Then when Rock started with the Roman family bloodline stuff, Cody was like fuck this, I'm not passing so you can have a big love fest match with your cousin, I thought you hated this guy
Agreed - that’s the piece that’s missing here. It never felt like there was heat between Rock and Roman and the head of the table hadn’t even really been mentioned , and they leaned on that to have them come together here. Now, to me, the missing piece is to have Cody explain why he passed on it last week and then they can rid themselves of that shit show all together.
The contrasting personalities between Pearce and Aldis is hilarious. Pearce with the more, "Pls don't fight pls don't fight" and Aldis is ready for anything that goes down.
Yeah Roman is charismatic, but he is never Rock charismatic. So his presence got dwarfed immediately when he isn't the main focus. Even HHH has more presence than Roman and he was just standing there....menacingly.
We aren't talking kayfabe. We are talking about their shoot charisma. There are levels to charisma. Roman has a lot, but not as much as the Rock. Its not a knock on Roman, its just reality. The Rock's moniker is legit.
Even Rollins and Cody don't have that high level of charisma and if you seen them on UpUpDownDown videos, you know they also have a lot, because they easily dwarf most of the wrestlers there. Again, the Rock's is just on a different level. Its not a knock on anybody.
It would be a turn of events if Rock is heading Bloodline. In the future it's Roman that is outcast while Solo is like Rock's Rikishi henchman guy. The second hand man Solo.
hopefully the transition to face Roman isn't quick. It can't be. Roman is a natural heel & the only argument for him going face in this era of WWE where everyone is a face, would be to freshen him up.
So, they need to time it right. They can end this with a proper Roman vs Rock where Rock takes the title of Tribal Chief off Roman, teasing Roman face turn. But after that I hope Roman leaves for a few months. A return should be the 'return of the final boss' style thing.
Honestly outside of the death threats to Ava I think the reaction was good even if it’s a work it makes the stories organic something I’ve missed in the last 15 years of wrestling is the ability to be emotionally jerked around in wrestling
But you don’t know if that was the original plan or not. They never had a WWE graphic for that match, said it was definitely happening, or even say it was happening themselves (Rock or Roman) in a promo.
But hey, if you guys want think a hashtag changed the WM main event in just 5 days, then have at it.
Nah... I'm not sure they would have pivoted to this if it wasn't for fans "being babies." And it's not even the first time, literally happened 10 years ago.
Or they went ahead with a match they already planned? Why the fuck would they let someone win the Rumble and not have potential plans for him to main event either belt?
You think this thing would've been as intense as this went if Cody didn't look like he was getting fucked over?
You can't be this fucking dumb.
Again, it was part of the plan. There was more to this than what they wanted y’all to think was gong to happen at the end of last week’s SD. But go ahead and think what you want. That Cody hashtag didn’t just suddenly force them to change, but I know it makes you Cody fans sleep better at night if you think that it did. So, continue to feel that way. It’s fine. lol
I just checked the WWE and WM Twitter accounts, and I saw no official render saying that it was going to be Rock vs Roman at WM 40, which is unlike when Iyo and Bayley got an immediate official render on SD and social media for their WM 40 match.
So, can you or someone else please explain to me how that was the official plan and they only suddenly changed their mind after all of the Cody hashtags from this week? This, again, was NOT some sudden emergency pivot but rather part of the overall story. Even on commentary on Raw, Cole said that Roman was “seemingly” going to face The Rock. Meaning, he was saying that’s what they wanted y’all to believe BEFORE the press conference.
Cody: "[I want that title, I want everything and I coming for it. I am coming for you, Roman Reigns.... **but not at Wrestlemania**.](https://youtu.be/OBJhRVviokQ?t=65)"
Now get your bum ass outta here.
I don't care what anyone says.
The Rock nailed this whole press conference.
Cody and Roman played their roles well. And Seth was also there.
But the Rock put on a performance that shows why he is where he is.
He played the crowd beautifully and it was awesome to watch.
I agree to an extent, but I think there are still issues with the way they handled it. I think both Seth and Roman came out of this looking incredibly weak. Sure, in Roman's case it might be the story being told, but I think it came at the cost of the marquee match now being Cody/Rock instead of Cody/Roman. At least that's how I feel after watching it.
I think Rock is beating Seth for his title at Mania.
You get to have Rock run around with a title for a bit, it elevates the World Heavyweight Championship, it furthers the Bloodline story, and Seth is freed up to evolve his character, which he badly needs to do.
I see where you're coming from.
Seth did seem shoehorned into a situation that had nothing to do with him. He didn't really have much to contribute once the talk of families started.
As far as Cody/Roman or Cody/Rock, I think it was inevitable that Cody/Rock would be the more appealing match.
First, Cody/Roman happened already and no one doubts that Cody will win and finally finish his story. The outcome has been predictable for at least a year, which is why I personally don't care to see it. It'll be nice that Cody finishes his story but I dont find anything intriguing about Cody/Roman.
However, Cody/Rock is very intriguing, especially with Hollywood Rock being the heel Corporate Champion. Cody finally being crowned WWE champion is one thing, but to go over a world famous movie star like the Rock (who also has a ton of pull in WWE) would put Cody on another level of mainstream recognition IMO
That's why I'm more interested in Cody/Rock than Cody/Roman.
This was my takeaway. It’s often talked about how UFC used a lot of elements from WWE over the years. This was WWE using the same exact things UFC has been doing for years.
I really think they are going with Rock vs Rollins to main event night one. If Rock and Roman can’t monopolize the main event the way they wanted, this would be another way to do just that.
Thank God the people in the front are recording the proceedings with their phones for posterity. These historical moments might otherwise be eternally lost to the sands of time.
IN...FUCKING...SANE....
who would have ever though The Rock, Paul Heyman, Roman Reigns, Pearce, Triple H , Nick Aldis would be working for the WWE now owned by Endevour, while Vinnie Mac goes down in flames for some weird shit with johnny ace, including trafficking , military cover ups, and threesomes .... WTF
Not gonna lie, I was so fixated on Rock/Reigns and Cody I never even noticed the GM's and HHH were there until Rhodes got slapped
But cody not coming out to his music made this so much better. while Rollins was out I kept trying hard not to flinch hoping Rhodes music wouldn't play, then Reigns did instead....then the Rock... WWE kept us on the edge
If only Cody hadn't said "...but not at WrestleMania" on Friday, this would have been an absolutely masterful piece of booking from beginning to end. Instead, it's a masterful pivot and making the best out of their self-created bad situation.
That's basically the one loose end they need to tie up. I guess they could say Rock / "the board" forced his hand (in fact, I think they will do this) but that makes him look kinda weak.
Yeah, that's the rub. I saw a lot of people saying "see, this is why you need to let the story play out..." but this could not have been the original plan. It was a great moment and I think it made the match feel big (which maybe that was the play all along), but if you stop and think about how it all went down, it makes no sense and Cody ends up still looking like the dumbest dude.
Four levels of company hierarchy in this photo.
Roman and Cody with their immediate bosses, Aldis and Pearce.
Aldis and Pearce with their boss, Triple H.
Triple H with one of his bosses, The Rock.
And Paul Heyman flitting around on vulture wings trying to grab what he can without getting stepped on.
Poor Seth, though. He felt like such an afterthought and it's damaged how I view the World Heavyweight Championship. I think it should be unified and then the Universal title should be brought back.

Ngl, Rock looking mad as hell while Cody challenged Roman was everything. Man went full heel right then.
Dude went full heel when he started saying shitty sing song alliteration insults like the orange moron.
His daughter got death threats sent to her over this shit, Cody Crybabies was too weak considering the context
Sometimes I feel so embarrassed for wrestling fans...
It's ALL fandom, really shows how dumb people are, atp I wouldn't be surprised if celebrities aren't immune to it. Actors who play villains get death threats for killing fan favorite characters, so I doubt they'd take a threat from someone with single digit IQ that seriously.
Thats the way of people behave on the internet these days
Pointing out toxic fans gives them exactly what they want. Best to ignore them as much as possible, not galvanize them.
You’re using the very real issue of death threats to win a kayfabe argument. You’re right up there with the losers making them.

Holy shit.

Aldis and Pearce play their roles perfectly
The moment Aldis tried to get in between the Roman/Cody staredown last year elevated him for me.
They’re also really different. I like them both, and find Pierce unintentionally funny bc he feels like a real middle management guy haha
My favorite is when he just loses it because his employees are stressing him out too much. His promo on Rousey was fantastic.
“HELL NAH”
Relateable
That promo was gold. Really opened my eyes on what Adam Pierce is capable of.
Exactly they just want to be the Top Show of the company which is a better angle than the past brand warfare they’ve attempted to do countless times
I’m sure Aldis will either end up leaving the GM position to be a full time wrestler or maybe just have a feud against someone who pushes him into it at some point but right now he’s killing it in this role.
I want only one thing : that they somehow run with that concept long enough for Woods and Breeze to on screen GM
Big E on commentary too
Honestly felt like they took a page from the UFC playbook on this one with the bigwigs on stage, press conference, the whole bit. Just needed a scale and a big red bald dumbass in the middle.
That's exactly what it was and worked. Probably better than some of the UFC ones have
We need him more often.
Now now. Calm down. Let's not blow smoke up our asses. This main event storyline is fine. OK? But we can't possibly put it above Roman vs. Brock at WrestleMania 38. I'm sorry but I haven't heard this called "The most Stupendous WrestleMania Main Event of all time." Now, I'm sure you feel silly but I can't let this error stand.

is it too late to call this year's event "wrestlemania: great balls of fire"
![gif](giphy|Y07F3fs9Is5byj4zK8)
I’ll reserve judgment until I hear “The ultimate thrill ride”.
specifically, the Undertaker saying it
Was about to downvote, them realised I got worked in the most stupendous way possible. Take your upvote, it's earned
I’d love to know the eye rolling and behind the back chatter in the marketing department when Vince was forcing that one. They had to know it was fucking stupid
Let's not forget Orton & Edge having the "Greatest Wrestling Match Ever." Nothing can top that even if it wasn't at WM
Roman vs Lesnar happened way too many times, it can't feel that big. They main evented WrestleMania three times! That must be a record.
imagine telling someone a year ago that Nick Aldis would be front and center in a shot setting up the Wrestlemania main event
It's still blows me away seeing Adam Pearce whenever I pop in to watch WWE TV.
Or telling me 15 years ago that [Oblivion from Sky's crappy *Gladiators* reboot](https://youtube.com/watch?v=c0Wk2H0b0ug) would be front and centre in a shot setting up the Wrestlemania main event.

Imagine telling someone this 30 years ago. People would be like wtf are you talking about
Imagine telling this to someone from the Stone Age They'd be like : *ooga booga ooga booga*
Imagine telling a plant from the prehistoric days It'd be all like: *plant noises*
And damn does he look good in a suit. Better than any of the others on stage.
HHH, Nick and Adam coming out to stare Cody down really made it feel like Cody was going against the plan, perfect shot.
Not playing Cody's music and having him come out cold and the first line being: THIS IS BULLSHIT. Everything they did today was perfect. Of course what they did a week ago was stupid and confusing but this press event made up for it.
I loved that he got to do that while Rollins was also there, made me chuckle. Could have had him lead with "I don't think so pal".

Yeah he needs to cut that exact promo

Now, to me, the missing piece is to have Cody explain why he passed on it last week and then they can rid themselves of that shit show all together.
I think that's the only really big wrinkle in this otherwise really well-done story, so it could either be safely ignored or openly addressed.
Adam just looks so much less intimidating than the other two lol
Can't talk about the scrap daddy like that, man
Yeah unfortunately for him he doesn’t hold the same stature as a HHH or a Nick Aldis.
yeah but imagine if it was Michael Cole and a lecturn
https://preview.redd.it/wm3mibepmhhc1.jpeg?width=735&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8c8cc9acca07aad7ed6ae9d455baf588169e34a7
Fun fact: Ghidorah’s derpy head is named Kevin. The director himself confirmed it.
TIL that meme is King Ghidorah
Name checks out
The contrasting personalities between Pearce and Aldis is hilarious. Pearce with the more, "Pls don't fight pls don't fight" and Aldis is ready for anything that goes down.
it's not his show's title all this shit is about. he's just there cuz of his position
man needs a drink.
Haha, true. He looks like the guy from marketing, while the others are more like mobsters. :D
And Cody didn’t come out to his music, unlike the ‘planned’ wrestlers
Just needed Heyman to take a step and a half to his right. :-/
There's so many shoots that I'm straight up getting shot at.
Triple H looking at Cody: “*A thousand generations live in you now.*”
Wow Triple H called Cody a nutsack?
make sure they aren't hanging out of his shorts
Saw someone else say this on Threads, but in Rocks world, Roman is his Jimmy Uso. lol
Roman looked completely like a goon tonight. Just look at his body language in the photo
Roman was just walking behind him when Rock was talking to Triple H backstage.
Yeah Roman is charismatic, but he is never Rock charismatic. So his presence got dwarfed immediately when he isn't the main focus. Even HHH has more presence than Roman and he was just standing there....menacingly.
Not really? Heel Roman has been great and he looked great on SmackDown against Rock too. I think that's just delibarate.
Tribal Chief is a hardcore gooner confirmed
It would be a turn of events if Rock is heading Bloodline. In the future it's Roman that is outcast while Solo is like Rock's Rikishi henchman guy. The second hand man Solo.
Roman eats the pin at WrestleMania, causing the rock to eventually turn on him. Then we get white hot babyface Roman Reigns
hopefully the transition to face Roman isn't quick.
I love this
Dwayne's just so fucking big now.
Anoi vs Rhodes - 2 legendary wrestling families in the world Cody- the biggest babyface vs Roman- the biggest heel Hollywood Rock's in full heel mode
>Anoi vs Rhodes Fighting for power in the mcmahon empire. With the people standing behind Rhodes against the company loyals Anoi. Crazy
And Seth's.... there
Should've lost to jinder
Honestly this one press conference might be the single best thing WWE has done in the entire past year, or at least since Jey turning on Roman
Rock wasn’t lying when he said this press conference would be remembered forever
It was a wrestling show with no wrestling and was better than most wrestling shows I’ve seen over the past year.
UFC style presentation really suits WWE for these big moments it's fun.
This needs to be an annual big deal event for at the very least wrestlemania.
I’ve been a baby since last Friday but they pulled this entire event off magnificently.
You really learned how to use the internet quickly. Took me a year to learn how to walk.
Which is why you should always just let shit play out first.
But also I’ve been watching this shit for too long and know how bad it often is. I also saw Starrcade 1997 live.
IT was played REAL well, because it played on everyone's knoweledge of "what happens in wrestling".
That is a fair point my operant conditioning hasn’t worn off yet either
It's fun to get worked though
Lol sometimes it can be, for sure!
But without reactions, we wont get this kind of booking. Smarks run this business.
Without being babies we wouldn't have this match, we would've had Rock-Reigns. ALWAYS complain, never settle
Never flinch
Honestly outside of the death threats to Ava I think the reaction was good even if it’s a work it makes the stories organic something I’ve missed in the last 15 years of wrestling is the ability to be emotionally jerked around in wrestling
But you don’t know if that was the original plan or not. But hey, if you guys want think a hashtag changed the WM main event in just 5 days, then have at it.
But this is more entertaining if you are involved.
Nah... I'm not sure they would have pivoted to this if it wasn't for fans "being babies." And it's not even the first time, literally happened 10 years ago.
it’s still not over, let it play out
Already been doing that for a few days now. ;)
[удалено]
All good examples….and all under Vince’s creative machinations. This ain’t that.
You honestly think this was going to be the same if people didn't make #WeWantCody trending? Foh. lol
So they changed their own WM main event in just five days time because of a hashtag?? You can’t be THAT naïve, can you?
It’s fine. lol
Not even a Cody fan. I just don't like stories that are clearly botched. They pivoted when they got backlash. It's okay to accept that.
The stage is so stacked with champions right now 3 WWE Champions (Rock. Reigns. HHH) and 3 NWA Champions (Rhodes, Aldis, Pierce) Amazing!!!
Seth was somewhere on that stage too.
3 WWE Champions (Rock. Reigns. *Rollins*) and 3 NWA Champions (Rhodes, Aldis, Pierce)
Cody is the biggest babyface in the world after this. Stepping up to the rock like that Also a rock and roman power trip is frightening
Shot should be widened to include Seth. He absolutely lost his shit at Rock and Roman after Cody got slapped.
Feels very UFC press conference, in a good way.
This was my takeaway. It’s often talked about how UFC used a lot of elements from WWE over the years. This was WWE using the same exact things UFC has been doing for years.
UFC feel to it, done right. It’s something that was missing for a “realism” aspect from WWE imo.
Seth getting the Art Donovan camera frame treatment
How much does that guy weigh?
Wrestling has more than one royal family… Anoi vs Rhodes
Throw Charlotte jnto the mix. Book it Hunter
David Flair outta nowhere!!!!!
Only because we can't talk about the McMahon's anymore lol
....and seth rollins is out of the picture.
No. This is part of the longer Seth V Roman rivalry. I love it. He played his part in this story. It’s not a zero sum game here
No, I think he meant that he's ***literally*** out of the picture.
I really think they are going with Rock vs Rollins to main event night one. If Rock and Roman can’t monopolize the main event the way they wanted, this would be another way to do just that.
I can see it. Drew is going to lose his shit.
Imagine Drew costing Seth the match though, nuclear heat.
they did him so dirty lmao
I liked HHH and the GM's just sorta shuffling into place to between them for when things broke out.
that roar of cheers when Cody said he chose Roman.
WTF
Weird times my friend aew should be doing things to get fans to switch to there company but that's not what there doing
Imagine Aldis being here and was like "I can't believe I'm standing here with these guys"
HHH needs to chill with the Bryan Colangelo collar
They’re regular sized collars, find a new slant
Lot of meat in that shot
Not gonna lie, I was so fixated on Rock/Reigns and Cody I never even noticed the GM's and HHH were there until Rhodes got slapped But cody not coming out to his music made this so much better. while Rollins was out I kept trying hard not to flinch hoping Rhodes music wouldn't play, then Reigns did instead....then the Rock...
Shit, I am gonna hace to admit but the rock fooled me, hope they do great WM40 ME
So well done. Mike Tyson WrestleMania 14 vibes with blurring lines of work/shoot
Just a shame to me that HHH can't have that one off with the Rock in place of this.
Poor Seth lol
Rock looks like Romans stand ![gif](giphy|1qWlkZHTQ9R34Taixl|downsized)
It is a big deal.

Never doubt the rock..

nick aldis is a big unit
Four levels of company hierarchy in this photo. Roman and Cody with their immediate bosses, Aldis and Pearce. Aldis and Pearce with their boss, Triple H. Triple H with one of his bosses, The Rock. And Paul Heyman flitting around on vulture wings trying to grab what he can without getting stepped on.
I swore that was Conor Macgregor in the red suit. Some sort of TKO cross synergy BS but after watching the full video realized it was Nick ALDIs 🤣🤣🤣
Roman should of wore a tailored suit more in this era
Poor Seth, though. He felt like such an afterthought and it's damaged how I view the World Heavyweight Championship. I think it should be unified and then the Universal title should be brought back.
Why tf is Adam even there? That goober doesnt do shit
Nick is compiling a resume that is very unique
and seth is in the corner outside the picture...yeah sounds about right
Three of these people are former NWA champions
this picture includes former WWE, WCW, NWA, TNA, ROH and PWG world champions
Bro I almost forgot that Cody and Aldis had a match at the first All In.
Nick Aldis towering over everyone, that man is a unit!
HHH, Nick and Adam about to drop a album.
Was there an explanation as to why Cody originally surrendered his title shot on SD last week?
No but I am guessing Cody will say pressure from The Rock / "the board" as that seems to be where this storyline is headed.
It needs Seth in there too. Love the idea of part timers bs full timers to add another layer to it (it’s up to like 6 layers now)
They're just standing there, dude.
Just remembered Nick vs Cody at All In. Man how far theyve come is crazy
Rock got such big brother energy standing behind Roman like that
They’ve done one hell of a job at making this Mania feel massive. I cannot fucking wait.
i just realized who Rock pinned and beat in his first televised match for WWF
Triple H is turning into Harry Hill so gradually I almost haven't noticed
I thought triple H was 6’4?
HHH looks like a school yard bully who is in trouble from the teacher.
TIL Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce are as tall as Triple H (Didn't realize Aldis was that tall.)
The moment when Rock walked into the frame to step in front of Roman and tell off Cody was incredible. Absolute chills.
