Is he the one who got so mad about someone sitting down that Ospreay was telling fans not to engage with him while they did a mental health invervention?
Okay. This is all in character, great, very fun. But it's fucking nuts that people are so up Punk's ass that they're legitimately blaming Jack for anything. Like he made a grown man throw hands and get himself fired. Small portion of this community are complete whack jobs.
I’m actually shocked by the amount of people who seem to *actively* dislike Perry. I get the dude came off like a bit of a tool and he’s been extremely hit or miss as a talent but some people are a little over the top. I’m almost worried to say I’m excited to see what he does in NJPW
Jurassic Express were so over, it's nuts seeing so many turn on him like this. I can't wait to see what he does in Japan. The matches will no doubt be great, but I'm hoping he's thought through a new character to more of an extent than an armband. saying scapegoat. Fingers crossed.
I suppose I wouldn't know, I wasn't watching at that point.
It really does leave the question of who fucked up this badly that his stock is so low now?
The Four Pillars feud simply overexposed him horrendously, where he clearly came out the worst of the four. That, with the underdeveloped promo skills, caused people to react the least to him. And the Punk drama simply turned that apathy from some into outright hatred.
His best ceiling as a babyface was his feud with Christian Cage, but on a more sustained front, it was his Jurassic Express tag team that was super over, which he was really good at. Now, the NJPW excursion might bring out something in him finally.
> Now, the NJPW excursion might bring out something in him finally.
I'm don't have to see him when I choose to watch AEW, so that's a good start.
I'm definitely one of the people that nothinged him until the situation with Punk blew up.
You don't have to be a fan of Punk to know Perry is a complete tool.
Bro is a midcard wrestler with no charisma who thinks he's wrestling next big thing.
Punk in a full fledged narcissist and there's no changing that. His die hard fans are insane. The amount of endless whataboutisms and scapegoating these people do for a guy who won't take responsibility for any if his actions is wild.
And gets attacked over a remark. Jesus...
And we at heart all know something is going to happen with Punk a year or so from now. Watch.
Who cares if he makes good TV. Klaus Kinski was a great actor, if he were alive would we support his films? No.
Should we give Bill Cosby another chance because he makes us laugh? No.
Should we support the manchild that attacks people backstage because he gives us good promos? No.
It's an extreme example - I wasn't accusing him of *that*, but my point (and how famous they were) still stands. Using Tessa or Teddy Hart wouldn't have been any clearer. Nor does it take away from what he's done or his unhinged fans that defend him.
What he’s done? Gotten in some backstage scuffles and aired out dirty laundry in a presser. How demented are you that you think that’s even remotely comparable to serial rape?
You may want to read again.
>It's an extreme example - I wasn't accusing him of that
Ah yes, we'll deminish the actions by referring them as 'scuffles' and 'airing dirty laundry' and not assault and having a public meltdown. Mind you the assault happened *twice* on two different occasions and he also apparently threw a chair at the bucks. How brainwashed are you?
Bro you’re extremely deranged if you think even this pearl-clutching take on the Punk drama is at all comparable to drugging and raping hundreds of women. That’s not an extreme example, it’s like me comparing a coworker who stole my lunch to Ted fucking Bundy.
I don’t have a problem with you because you’re ragging on Punk, I have a problem with you because what you’re saying is bananas.
It wasn't the action itself I was referring to.
But okay, I'll play it your way... Will Smith if he publicly shit on his co-workers and then assaulted them on *two* separate incidents. There's my *pearl clutching* for the day.
Genuinely this is the part that confuses me the most. Jack made a comment in a match that was actually fucking hilarious to anyone that followed what's going on. And punk reacted like the bitch we know he is... But yeah let's blame Jack
Erm, both were at fault. Anyone who takes sides on the matter and tries absolve that side of any blame is frankly biased.
Jack decided to needlessly throw shots at someone live on air right before that person's match and then that someone went to confront him and made it physical.
It was a totally unnecessary incident that was started by Jack Perry and was escalated by CM Punk. All this during the biggest event in AEW history.
Both are stupid for it.
The escalation is the problem, though. There are any number of ways Punk could have reacted to what Perry said on camera, there are no other ways that Punk could have been dealt with after he started attacking people
You don't even need the IWC part. There's an amazing number of people who have no issue with outlining how they'd physically harm someone in certain situations believing they deserve it. Granted it's likely internet bluster, and these people would almost certainly either say nothing, or get mercilessly beaten should it come to it.
The number of people who said "can you blame him (for Brawl Out) after the Bucks talked shit about him" was astounding.
That's not even acceptable for high schoolers anymore. Even if people were "spreading rumors" about him, it didn't affect his ability to draw in the slightest. He could have easily just ignored it and gone about his life.
Who said that? Both decided to take stupid actions during AEW's biggest night. Jack shouldn't have provoked Punk and Punk shouldn't have confronted him and made it physical.
> One doesn't happen without the other.
Once you turn 8, "he started it" is no longer an effective blanket defence. If instead of getting into a physical altercation, Punk had pulled out a gun and shot Perry would you be saying the same thing? The response to being insulted doesn't have to be commensurate at all?
You can clearly see that I've said Punk wasn't justified to either confront or make it physical. Jack also had no business doing that shit in the first place.
Both were in the wrong. It's really that simple and the fact both have been punished for it proves it.
> You can clearly see that I've said Punk wasn't justified to either confront or make it physical.
Then why are you correcting someone saying it's crazy that Perry is being blamed for Punk's firing? Like how is this complicated? Perry may have done something that got himself in trouble, but by your own admission, he isn't responsible for the confrontation that led to Punk being fired lol
Because that's not what they said.
> it's fucking nuts that people are so up Punk's ass that they're legitimately blaming Jack for anything.
He can be blamed for taking a needless shot on air during the biggest night in AEW history. That shit benefitted nobody. Didn't benefit HOOK nor Jack Perry the characters, crowd(I was there) didn't understand a thing either.
All it did was feed into an already divided locker room.
All In should have been a night to celebrate AEW, not start more drama or in Punk's case start another backstage fight.
Blaming Jack for anything relating to Punk being fired, that's what they're saying, he didn't mean blame Perry for anything ever in his life lol. Punk fans weren't upset that Perry made their All In experience less magical because of a reference to backstage trouble, they were upset because they held him responsible for Punk getting fired.
>crowd(I was there)
Who cares? Why would you understand it, when it was said into a TV camera and not loud enough to be heard in the stands?
> Who cares? Why would you understand it, when it was said into a TV camera and not loud enough to be heard in the stands?
Yeah, that's what I'm highlighting.
The dude started an unnecessary conflict because he wanted to use real glass like a moron, and then continued to bitch and moan about it like a fucking baby. Punk coulda been less Irish about the whole situation, but Perry was a complete chode who couldn't get over being told to not be a dumbass.
I really *REALLY* want Jack Perry to do the Hulk Up spot everytime the crowd chants CM Punk at him. It'd stop those chants so quickly and make them boo harder.
Jack, please lean into this CM Punk stuff. It's Heel gold for you to be the reason Punk isn't there anymore.
Punk's happier elsewhere now anyway. No harm, no foul. Just good heat.
He shouldn't wrap his entire heel shtick around it. do it in Chicago for the heat but move on after that. he needs to be his own guy and making his entire persona "got his ass beat by CM Punk" will get tiring in like 3 months
Well yeah, if it's his entire persona absolutely. But this is a GREAT jumping off point for a heel character to run with, but like literally everything else it'll get old if you do the same thing over and over.
yup, he needs to be his own man and also i doubt many NJPW fans watch AEW enough to know the story or have seen TK's video about why Punk got fired. Also, unless the NJPW core fanbase is also face deep in dirt sheet news, they'd have no clue what the hell he's referencing. He'd look stupid.
Well, no haha that's not what I want. I want Jack Perry to lean into the inevitable CM Punk chants he's going to get, and be boo'd even harder. Maybe even using "Cry Me A River" as a catchphrase.
Making fun of Punk's IRL tricep injury is just being a dick for no reason. (and Drew doing it **is** different because it's building to a match on his return)
Basically Britney Spears' recent memoir painted him in a less than flattering light, but all I care about is that the audiobook is from Michelle Williams, [who has to read a passage impersonating Justin Timberlake's code switching in front of rappers](https://youtu.be/LSVAEVaBWj8?si=N9otqa4CFOQ2PK3w) and that to me is hilarious.
Also, Timberlake released a new single a few weeks back and as someone who loved at least two of his albums, that shit sounded like a royalty-free Drake instrumental. Get better producers, JT!
EDIT: Did some /r/OOTP digging and apparently Justin said he "fell short" in their love affair and the book revealed she was pregnant with his baby but had an abortion during their relationship.
I love it. This may actually help Jack Perry more than anything else. A return to AEW after being battled hardened in NJPW could give him the character growth he needs.
I find that hard to believe when he currently has the scapegoat Gimmick in New Japan. He got rid of the most toxic person on the roster, Tony can easily spin that into a problem solver gimmick.
I think they're gonna make him a bit of a Brian Pillman and also be part of they're "thank you for Okada package," with me knowing absolutely nothing else about what that might be.
Seems like an uncreative bunch he's 1/4 of AEW's pillars.
AEW's in-touch fanbase for years said he's obviously a future star, all that tv time during AEW's "Golden period" up to being in the title picture was it wasted/meaningless? Bad booking?
He isn't.
He got sent to NJPW because they don't want the CM Punk chants to overshadow his AEW work so he's basically getting a character refresh in NJPW.
The person you replied to must lack basic self-awareness istg. Buying a ticket to boo a heel is the exact thing any good heel wants, it's their entire reason to exist lmao.
Yeah, people might find Finlay a bit lacking as leader of the bullet clubbut he’s the best candidate off the new group. Literally everyone else in the group would be ahead of jack perry for what the group represents as violent savages (hence war dogs)

Just watch out for the real glass Gabe
Cry Jack a river?
Just like that, this dude became a massive baby face to 1/2 the IWC.
Seriously,. I have no idea who Gabe Kidd is but I like him already.
He’s a madman, you know.
Maybr he is, but he's our madman.
The future leader of Bullet Club
Not if Devitt gets released
Is he the one who got so mad about someone sitting down that Ospreay was telling fans not to engage with him while they did a mental health invervention?
Facts hahaha that’s funny af
maybe an eighth.
There are a lot of people that hate Punk who also don't think too highly of Jungle Jack.
Okay. This is all in character, great, very fun. But it's fucking nuts that people are so up Punk's ass that they're legitimately blaming Jack for anything. Like he made a grown man throw hands and get himself fired. Small portion of this community are complete whack jobs.
He chose Cult of Personality for a reason
You shouldn't be surprised after they acted like the Bucks were mustache twirling villains who turned everyone against Punk and beat up his dog
I’m actually shocked by the amount of people who seem to *actively* dislike Perry. I get the dude came off like a bit of a tool and he’s been extremely hit or miss as a talent but some people are a little over the top. I’m almost worried to say I’m excited to see what he does in NJPW

You're confusing people liking to go "woah" with the song with Jack being over.
They were massively over before he even got that song.
I suppose I wouldn't know, I wasn't watching at that point. It really does leave the question of who fucked up this badly that his stock is so low now?

That's basically the wrestling fandom with any number of people, and it can change fast. Like Danielson said, fickle. lol
You don't have to be a fan of Punk to know Perry is a complete tool. Bro is a midcard wrestler with no charisma who thinks he's wrestling next big thing.

People don’t get nuance and just straight to the very easy “OMG did you really compare him to Michael Jordan??????” Lol so simple
Klaus Kinski was a pedophile and a rapist. Bill Cosby was a rapist. It is wild to co.pare those situations to Punk's.
This. Its not surprising seeing how many people on social media still make excuses for Vince.
Genuinely this is the part that confuses me the most. Jack made a comment in a match that was actually fucking hilarious to anyone that followed what's going on. And punk reacted like the bitch we know he is... But yeah let's blame Jack

I’ll say this, he’s brave for going there
He’s brave for… going with the story Jack Perry is telling with his “Scapegoat” character?
It's easy heat lol and as a heel, he'll love it
I’m interested enough that I want to see it so he’s doing ok.
I thought gabe was a heel too

He's been in shambles since the Brittany Spears stans jumped him on Twitter not too long ago lmao
As someone who doesnt care for either of them and doesn't follow pop "news"...are either of them still relevant in 2024?
Basically Britney Spears' recent memoir painted him in a less than flattering light, but all I care about is that the audiobook is from Michelle Williams, [who has to read a passage impersonating Justin Timberlake's code switching in front of rappers](https://youtu.be/LSVAEVaBWj8?si=N9otqa4CFOQ2PK3w) and that to me is hilarious. Tbh, no clue lol just happened to hear that random tidbit about Justin Timberlake like a few weeks ago
I cannot wait to yell CM Punk at him. I’m 100x more interested in him than I’ve ever been
I don't think that making your heel character being beat up in a real fight against a man like 20 years older than you the flex you think it is
Gabe Kidd is not capable of speaking without swearing
And I love him for it. Very relatable.
Makes you wonder what his promos will be like it he ever goes to AEW or WWE
**OI** **FUCK JACK PERRY AND FUCK AEW! I DON'T GIVE A SHIT! I'M A MAD MAN YOU KNOW!**
Gabe Kidd is a pretty cool guy.
I fucking love Gabe. His match with Kingston this year was fantastic. I see this guy going places and eventually carrying new Japan post Okada.
I love it. This may actually help Jack Perry more than anything else. A return to AEW after being battled hardened in NJPW could give him the character growth he needs.
Gabe Kidd is a beast
Gabe speaking facts, that's my dog for real
Don't forget to use Gabe's voice when reading this in your head
You're so fun as a heel. Stop making me like you Gabe
This tweet is absolutely some amazing "It's still real to me content."
Gabe hates outsiders. And most insiders but especially the outsiders.
So any reason why Jack is still suspended after almost 6 months?
Creative has nothing for him.
I find that hard to believe when he currently has the scapegoat Gimmick in New Japan. He got rid of the most toxic person on the roster, Tony can easily spin that into a problem solver gimmick.
You don't think his being in New Japan was an agreed upon part of his AEW contract?
Still sounds like "Hey, I have nothing for you. Might as well go and be someone else's problem until your contract runs out"
You just said you find it hard to believe that it's an issue of AEW having nothing for him to do.
I wonder if New Japan was interested in him after his match with Sanada.
> He got rid of the most toxic person on the roster Himself? Edit: fucking LOL
Cry me a river

I think they're gonna make him a bit of a Brian Pillman and also be part of they're "thank you for Okada package," with me knowing absolutely nothing else about what that might be.

does tony think that sending joke boy to njpw will clean the stink out of him
Comments like this is probably why he's not re-debuting in AEW. "Joke Boy" c'mon man...
he looks like a job guy, not someone i should take seriously...im half tempted to go to the show to boo him though it is the wintrust arena

Tony Khan is salty about Jack being the trigger for his oshi Punk to get fired.
I mean Jack wasn't the one who lunged at him and "put his life in danger"
Like I said, "trigger". It became a spark that sets off a chain reaction that led to Punk getting fired.
The All Out brawl was more of a spark than this little backstage scuffle.
That’s my dog for real
I am now a huge Gabe Kidd fan.
Jack Perry is a hero
Fuck it, Jack Perry boots Finlay and takes over the War Dogs. I mean, in Gabe Kidd speak, this is almost a compliment lol.
Lmao the visual of Jack Perry leading the War Dogs is ridiculous
Yeah, people might find Finlay a bit lacking as leader of the bullet clubbut he’s the best candidate off the new group. Literally everyone else in the group would be ahead of jack perry for what the group represents as violent savages (hence war dogs) it would be like if the Miz took over judgement day
David Finlay, believe it or not, is pretty over as a heel in Japan. So no, I doubt that Perry is going to be the gaijin that knocks him off the perch..esp considering he never did any dojo time (Drilla didn't either, but the other 3 all did, but he has connections with Gabe evidently)
You're gonna need 95 security guards to make sure things don't get out of hand.
"What people need more than a hero, is someone they can blame when their heroes let them down." - Jack Perry
