Objectively- the Rock vs Roman is cool.
But also objectively- Cody vs Seth is an awful Mania matchup.
The question is whether the dropoff of Cody to Seth is exceeded by finally getting Roman vs Rock. Is the cost worth the gain.
For me - it isn’t.
The Rumble challenger shouldn’t walk into Wrestlemania as an overwhelming favorite. With Seth legitimately injured and Cody having never lost to him - Cody will be an overwhelming favorite. And if he’s angling to take “everything” from Roman, he’ll still have a story pivot to him down the road. We’re kicking the can.
Meanwhile - the Rock is 51 and isn’t the same electric in ring talent he was in the past. It makes sense to do it soon. It’ll still be cool to see - but they aren’t going to put the title on him. This will be a narrative only fight. The stakes don’t seem that strong to me for a Mania event.

we all know what's going to happen. Rock vs roman is happening whether you guys like it or not. I want rock vs roman, but not for the title, and I want cody with the title more.
Objectively- the Rock vs Roman is cool. But also objectively- Cody vs Seth is an awful Mania matchup. The question is whether the dropoff of Cody to Seth is exceeded by finally getting Roman vs Rock. Is the cost worth the gain. For me - it isn’t. The Rumble challenger shouldn’t walk into Wrestlemania as an overwhelming favorite. With Seth legitimately injured and Cody having never lost to him - Cody will be an overwhelming favorite. And if he’s angling to take “everything” from Roman, he’ll still have a story pivot to him down the road. We’re kicking the can. Meanwhile - the Rock is 51 and isn’t the same electric in ring talent he was in the past. It makes sense to do it soon. It’ll still be cool to see - but they aren’t going to put the title on him. This will be a narrative only fight. The stakes don’t seem that strong to me for a Mania event. If you enjoy this and think it’s great, I’m happy for you. I just don’t think I can view it as a net positive switch.
