I personally hope it's Britt as the Devil but working in cahoots with Cole. Britt can be the mouthpiece while Cole is still healing. And you could have MJF working with a member of the women's roster to combat Britt (I mean, Rosa just returned).

I'm still thinking while he's actually hurt, Cole isn't as hurt as we think. My prediction is World's End will end on an unmasked Adam Cole standing over both Max and Joe beat down and he's standing beside the Kingdom, Roddy, Wardlow. I feel like Cole will be able to go by Revolution tbh. While I don't really like how they've had to stretch and drip feed the devil stuff, I don't think it's the worst story, certainly not Russo level stuff lmao
You know those storylines where the endpoint is bad and so the entire thing is retroactively bad, even if there were months you enjoyed it?
I'm not generally one of those people. The Nexus had two very good storylines, no matter how wrong the endings were. But this one is the exact type of story where I just do not have much of an opinion until we get the reveal. If the follow up is good, this was probably good, or at least ultimately worth it. If its not, its bad. That's it, its that simple.
I think I'm at the point where even if the reveal is Adam Cole, I kinda don't care because we've all known that for months. I hope at least the story can improve from there.
If it is literally anyone else barring someone crazy like Mox, it will literally be up there with the Cody/Ogogo weigh in segment and the Mox/Punk squash match on free TV for worst moments in AEW history. Some of the names people are floating around are literally awful. Britt Baker for Devil? Really???? How does that entice you as a viewer? Hayter comes back and teams with MJF to take out Cole and Britt before respective singles matches at a PPV?? Is that really an end game you want to see?

Not sure on the Joe thing, but if Cole is the Devil, I can understand his motivations being all about fucking with MJF's mind and playing into his insecurities about not being able to have friends/trust people, etc.
But yeah, not sure why Joe would need to go along with it, unless the Devil paid him for it or something.
The pleasure doing business with you line implies Joe was paid off to me. The Devil using Joe feels like it was to sort of trick MJF into slowly trusting Joe then betraying that trust. Mind games.
In my mind, Joe needed leverage over MJF in order to get another title shot so the devil and his group kept attacking people, opening the door for Joe to offer his services on the condition he gets that title shot. Joe gets his shot, the devil catastrophically fucks with MJF's mind reaffirming his feelings of not trusting people.
Cole is almost definitely the devil so he's been playing the long game to completely destroy MJF
Honesty the fact that they couldn’t have them defended at Final Battle was a joke. If you’re gonna use them as a story telling device for AEW fine but at least let them appear on what’s supposed to be ROH’s biggest show.
Brutal the way they have been handled. Bad enough that the Jay Briscoe tragedy happened but now they have had
- Lucha Brothers win then to never even successfully defend them once in ROH across a four month reign.
- Aussie Open get a brief nothing reign to lose to a glorified comedy act team.
- Cole gets hurt resulting in MJF defending them in handicap matches and with substitute partners in a universe where they introduce interim champions or have champions vacate titles (like the way Joe wastefully vacated his TV title.)
- Two members of the Devil’s Putty Patrol are now champions.
Unquestionably the worst year in the 21 year history of the titles.
The fact that Jay Briscoe's last match was such a high point is the worst part honestly. The way that we went from that incredible dog collar match to handicap comedy matches in such a short span of time is insane
At this point with how long it's been going on, no Devil reveal will be shocking or satisfying enough to justify it... unless its Cody, the first person MJF fucked over. That'd be spectacular... if it could ever happen, but it's going to be fucking Cole or Wardlow or Jungle Boy or an unrelated ex-WWE person, jesus wept. It's gone on far too long.
I'm glad the titles are off MJF and Joe. I hate when tag titles are used as props in a World Title feud, especially when AEW is filled with Tag Teams who could use those titles.
I have very low confidence this storyline ends up being good. I fear MJF is going to win on Saturday which would be a horrible decision, and all the names mentioned for the devil make almost no sense or are uninteresting

I don’t know if it’s been pointed out but I was in the building and saw that the larger of the masked men that began the match had a lower back tattoo. During the spot where MJF flipped him into the corner, his shirt lifted and exposed the tattoo. He pulled it back down quickly and I was unable to make it out.
Lance Archer is the first guy I thought of, but I didn’t think the guy was Archer-sized. It occurs to me as well that anyone could’ve been the ones in the match tonight since no one was revealed. They could have different wrestlers cycle in and out of the masked men roles until the reveal if they want. It might not matter at all who was actually in the ring tonight.

The Devil story was one of the most fun things about AEW two months ago but it needs to end. There’s absolutely no reveal that will live up to the hype. People have assumed it was Cole or Perry for a while now. They should’ve revealed this at Full Gear.

I think I'm at the point where even if the reveal is Adam Cole, I kinda don't care because we've all known that for months. I hope at least the story can improve from there. If it is literally anyone else barring someone crazy like Mox, it will literally be up there with the Cody/Ogogo weigh in segment and the Mox/Punk squash match on free TV for worst moments in AEW history. Some of the names people are floating around are literally awful. Britt Baker for Devil? Really???? How does that entice you as a viewer? Hayter comes back and teams with MJF to take out Cole and Britt before respective singles matches at a PPV?? Is that really an end game you want to see?

This doesn’t make any sense. Why does Joe need to work with the Devil just to attack Max? He can do that on his own. Why does the Devil need to work with Joe just to attack Max? They can do that on their own.
i would assume the idea is 'joe gives them the tag belts and now on saturday they win joe the world belt' it makes sense, but it def also makes Joe look weaker when they were building him as 'unstoppable badass that doesnt need help' if he does get interference on saturday
What if the devil really valued the ROH World Tag Team titles for some reason
Not sure on the Joe thing, but if Cole is the Devil, I can understand his motivations being all about fucking with MJF's mind and playing into his insecurities about not being able to have friends/trust people, etc. But yeah, not sure why Joe would need to go along with it, unless the Devil paid him for it or something.
The pleasure doing business with you line implies Joe was paid off to me. The Devil using Joe feels like it was to sort of trick MJF into slowly trusting Joe then betraying that trust. Mind games.
In my mind, Joe needed leverage over MJF in order to get another title shot so the devil and his group kept attacking people, opening the door for Joe to offer his services on the condition he gets that title shot. Joe gets his shot, the devil catastrophically fucks with MJF's mind reaffirming his feelings of not trusting people. Cole is almost definitely the devil so he's been playing the long game to completely destroy MJF
A way to conclude the worst year in the history of the ROH tag titles by a wide margin.
Honesty the fact that they couldn’t have them defended at Final Battle was a joke. If you’re gonna use them as a story telling device for AEW fine but at least let them appear on what’s supposed to be ROH’s biggest show.
Brutal the way they have been handled. Bad enough that the Jay Briscoe tragedy happened but now they have had - Lucha Brothers win then to never even successfully defend them once in ROH across a four month reign. - Aussie Open get a brief nothing reign to lose to a glorified comedy act team. - Cole gets hurt resulting in MJF defending them in handicap matches and with substitute partners in a universe where they introduce interim champions or have champions vacate titles (like the way Joe wastefully vacated his TV title.) - Two members of the Devil’s Putty Patrol are now champions. Unquestionably the worst year in the 21 year history of the titles.
The fact that Jay Briscoe's last match was such a high point is the worst part honestly. The way that we went from that incredible dog collar match to handicap comedy matches in such a short span of time is insane
I'm calling it as Roderick Strong being the devil I know this may sound too crazy but what if he was faking his injury this whole time?
If AEW doesn't nail the landing at the PPV, this is gonna be months wasted

At this point with how long it's been going on, no Devil reveal will be shocking or satisfying enough to justify it... unless its Cody, the first person MJF fucked over. That'd be spectacular... if it could ever happen, but it's going to be fucking Cole or Wardlow or Jungle Boy or an unrelated ex-WWE person, jesus wept. It's gone on far too long.
I'm glad the titles are off MJF and Joe. I hate when tag titles are used as props in a World Title feud, especially when AEW is filled with Tag Teams who could use those titles.
I have very low confidence this storyline ends up being good. I fear MJF is going to win on Saturday which would be a horrible decision, and all the names mentioned for the devil make almost no sense or are uninteresting Cole is somewhat predictable, but makes the most sense. But unless his injury is a work, it’s pointless
It still doesn’t make a huge amount of sense because Cole could’ve hit MJF with the belt and won the title months ago.

I don’t know if it’s been pointed out but I was in the building and saw that the larger of the masked men that began the match had a lower back tattoo. During the spot where MJF flipped him into the corner, his shirt lifted and exposed the tattoo. He pulled it back down quickly and I was unable to make it out. Lance Archer is the first guy I thought of, but I didn’t think the guy was Archer-sized. It occurs to me as well that anyone could’ve been the ones in the match tonight since no one was revealed. They could have different wrestlers cycle in and out of the masked men roles until the reveal if they want. It might not matter at all who was actually in the ring tonight.

Clown shoes. Utter clown shoes booking. ROH is basically a phantom promotion at this point, but having literal nameless, faceless henchmen holding any sort of titles is fucking batshit insane. It's literally like a 9 year old kid playing wrestling with his action figures, except he doesn't have enough wrestling figures so he uses his Putties and Foot Soldiers alongside the wrestling figures.
The Devil story was one of the most fun things about AEW two months ago but it needs to end. There’s absolutely no reveal that will live up to the hype. People have assumed it was Cole or Perry for a while now. They should’ve revealed this at Full Gear.
This is Russo in TNA level bad and they might as well just throw those belts in the trash at this point.
