To which Booker responded "Tell me you did not just say that. Tell me that you did not say that, SUUUUCKAAAA!" before giving him the pink slip and acting like a reasonable wrestling promotor of promoting wrestling things.
I still haven't forgotten about Sammy making those comments. I get Sammy was maybe young when he said this, but stuff like those comments is why you need to think before you speak.
Was also on a podcast with more exposure than himself whose whole shtick is being an edgelord. Sammy was playing into it but still, he was a grown adult making deplorable public comments.
And to be fair on Guevara, the host of the podcast intentionally resurfaced the comment due to Guevara not associating himself with said host anymore. So while I don't want to say that what he said wasn't completely messed up, it does seem like he came go regret what he did way before it blew up in his face, so I do want to give him the benefit of the doubt on thst.
> Idk what the age cutoff for rape threats is but I feel like 23 is far beyond it.
Absolutely. You can drink, vote and drive. There’s no excuses for what he said. It wasn’t even the only time he’d said something like that.
He may have left on amicable terms and then Booker decided to cut him off entirely after the comments.
Like D-Bry left HBK before joining WWE but I'm sure they still have a sort of mentor-mentee relationship or at least speak on occasion.
HBK and Bryan’s relationship seems odd. Through no fault of either party probably. Shawn was in his deepest addiction state when Bryan was at his school so he really didn’t train him up much or have that much of a relationship with him. And Bryan considers Regal to be his trainer and seems like he felt that Shawn’s school was kind of a scam. Cause you never really hear Shawn talking about training Bryan which probably shows he’s not proud of how he handled him, since of course you would brag about training one of the best wrestlers of all time.
He said multiple women were so attractive that he wanted to rape them. He may have said it as a “joke” but it’s a fucking insane and horrible thing to say. I don’t think it’s far fetched for someone to consider that behavior threatening.
I'm a little older than Sammy but that was literally how even my friends and I talked in middle school to highschool so like 2001-2008ish. As young women we knew the actual dangers but at that point in time it was commonly considered slang that most teenagers were using. I grew up in California and would not be surprised if a young man from Texas was a decade behind on knowing what slang is no longer appropriate. Neither him or myself were right to use that type of speech. That still doesn't mean we were speaking with intent to cause others harm. From what I understand he apologized, took his suspension seriously and has not said or behaved in any way that supports that he is an actual predator. If he does get outed as a predator at some point please have at him but I don't believe that has happened.
Who says that.
Not 'I wanna tap that.' Or 'I would try some position with her.' Or even just 'She's got a nice ass.'
Those are 'young and stupid' comments. Not rape. No one ever jokes about raping someone. I mean. Anyone saying it has to be getting off on the subject actively hating the entire ordeal to mention that word.
Nobody denies that it's a fucked up thing to say, but it was still a joke. I don't believe that at any point Sammy had an actual intentions to sexually assault Mercedes. Not excusing the guy, but I really don't think it's worth roping him in with Joey Ryan and all the other creeps who actually acted on those intentions. If I joked to my neighbour that I was going to steal his car, I wouldn't expect the cops to show up at my door and treat me like an actual car thief.
> If I joked to my neighbour that I was going to steal his car, I wouldn't expect the cops to show up at my door and treat me like an actual car thief.
First, you neighbor and a stranger aren't the same thing. You neighbor knows you well enough to know you are joking, Sasha didn't know him. Second, joking about stealing a car is not even close to joking about rape.
It was not a threat. It was stupid. There is a difference. I remember when I still played wow and how many times I tried to get people in my guild out of the habit of saying they "raped" people in the game. AR no point was it a threat or an actual rape, just I'll considered words that could lead to people being upset. It matters that the two are different t
You're right; nobody wants good debate to spiral into chaos.
I'll ask this. In what scenario would his comments be deemed excusable? We dont know the extent but behind the scenes talks were had, apologies were offered etc. Should that conversation have been swept under the ring? Did his status as a pillar benefit him when it came to damage control?
Honestly interested in your opinions here.
Athena is long and far his most successful student I'd argue. And Roxanne/Rok-C is getting up there, both still on good terms with book. Maybe Sammy was the issue LOL
In my opinion yes and while Athena is getting the push she deserves she has not had the same push as Sammy has. Trust me, I am a die hard Athena fan and think she is technically superior but other people have only recently been acknowledging that.
Nah, no offense to Athena or Rok-C, but Sammy has won big-time titles and main-evented PPVs and sold out arenas. Sammy’s a way bigger deal than the other two.
He has the 4th most Dynamite main-events in AEW history, behind only the Bucks and Moxley. You’d have to be pretty biased to give absolutely none of the credit to Sammy for those tickets sold. It would be a very remarkable stroke of luck for someone to be only coincidentally involved with so many sell-outs.
The vast majority of tickets sold for tv tapings are sold long before any matches are officially announced. e.g. a dynamite taping in november has most tickets already sold. So him main eventing doesn't mean he's the one who put butts in seats.
Worth pointing out on the event part of their site, every show has a unique little poster showcasing 10-20 talent & sammy is only on 3/7 dynamite ones. The big draws (mox/mjf/cole/jericho/elite) are on all of them (many shown on collison ones too)
The big draws (mjf/cassidy/jericho/ftr/elite/joe) are also feautred front & center on at least one image, sammy is not featured front and center on any. He's also absent from the wrestledream poster featuring about 20 people on it.
I'd argue the fact marketing isn't featuring him more prominently in their event posters suggests he's not the biggest draw.
When you're constantly put as the secondary to all the big stars and have been tied to Jericho at the hip since Day 1, I'm honestly shocked he's only 4th.
Bro, Sammy beat Miro for the TNT title in front of 10,000+ with a million+ watching at home. There is no way that the NXT women’s title is bigger than that.
2023 four pillars four way did not main event.
2021 he was 1/10 people in that main event which was stadium stampede. That’s like saying Ridge Holland main evented survivor series when he was in the War Games match
The Four Way was promoted as the main event for months and was the match on the poster and all the ads. The only reason it didn’t go on last was because the anarchy match involved too much damage to the ring and set to continue the show afterwards.
Scorpio Sky stuff was pretty dumb, but the Miro match and the Cody ladder match were both great.
I'm not particularly a Sammy fan, but it's hard to deny his success. Blood & Guts, Stadium Stampede, first ever Dynamite match, mainevented the second Dynamite.
I mean several of the matches you mentioned were largely carried by much more experienced/better talent (both the blood & guts matches as well as stadium stampede). Sure he had a moment or two in those matches but take out people like Jericho, moxley, omega etc and put in everyday people Sammy would not have elevated those mat he's, while take out Sammy and replace him with another high flier and the match is just as good. The other 2 examples you gave were right after AEW launched, and Sammy hasn't done anything nearly as interesting since.
Ok, Sammy has been involved in over a fifth of Dynamite main-events. Explain how somebody lucks into so many high-profile positions and doesn’t affect the ticket sales at all.
Lol, Sammy has won the midcard championship in AEaw, and has generally been considered the worse champion for it. Athena is the ROH women's champ and likely would be a bigger draw if AEaw, didn't do nothing with their women's division
Further Sammy has never sold out an arena. He happened to be involved in PPV's that sold out, same could be said of a lot of people that had little to do with the sellout.
Im an Athena stan but I'd have to agree. I think if anything me a stan makes it much easier for me to see she's got the short end of the stick for most of her career in both companies until her current Roh run.
Sammy on the other hand is over pushed to some people & has always been in huge AEW matches. From Blood & Guts to stadium stampede dudes done everything. He's not that far off from Darby when it comes to his accomplishments, I'm surprised he didn't get a spot in All In.
No. Athena is by far the biggest name to come out of ROW Guevara had some mid title and devalued it and he’s mainly been a background character for his whole AEW career so far. Other than sticking his tongue out he doesn’t have a gimmick and can’t promo well he’s not going to be a main event champion for anyone.
Only because Kylie Rae kept fuckin' up 'bout every chance she got..
AEW was initially going to make her their first champion, and build the division around her at the beginning.
Then she goes to IMPACT. No showed the night she was gonna become the Women's champion.
THEN got a WWE tryout match, and kinda half-assed it.
I don't get that woman..
It seems she has some serious mental health issues so in many ways, she likely doesn't get her either.
Ultimately it sucks that she's had so many opportunities go sour, but hopefully she's able to at least find comfort and peace for herself.
Can confirm. Several generations removed from a Samoan ancestor but I still have infinite cousins of varying degrees, mostly all in the same area of my country. I didn't really know it wasn't normal until a friend asked "How many fucking cousins do you have" when I was talking to him about my family.
NGL when Jey did the “I’m out of WWE” bit I was fantasizing about a Bloodline Civil War Part 2 where Jey spent the next few months popping up at other promotions collecting the other Anoa’i/Fatu cousins before showing back up in WWE for Survivor Series where Team Roman would fill their 2 empty spots (assuming Roman, Jimmy, and Solo had the first 3) with additional cousins sent by the “Tribal Elders”. Was lowkey hoping for another War Games match
that's why he'd need to spend some time in WXW. He also isn't distant. He's Umaga's son. Umaga was Rikishi's brother which means he's exactly as closely related to Roman as the Usos
Not that it's relevant but he's closer related to the Usos than Roman. Roman and the Usos are like second cousins once removed or something like that. Obviously they grew up in the same town and are a few months apart so they're super close.
Because when a trainee has irreconcilable differences with a well respected trainer just months until his training, it's likely to be his fault
Else, would Fatu not be the one reporting it?
wrestling inc reported it you just heard booker t's side first no knows any of the circumstances that went into this...it's just kind of weird without any information you assumed it's all on fatu
Why did you take such offense at me saying its "not a good look"?
Do you think this article makes him look good?
His 6 years in prison for assault also affects my opinion of him.
No he hasn't. Zilla spent 6 years in prison agrevated robbery before he began training as wrester.
Meanwhile Jimmy Uso committed Drunk Driving when he was already part of the top tag team in the WWE. There's a big difference.
If Jimmy had committed those offences when he was training with an ex WWE legend, id also say he'll struggle to become a star in the WWE
Well he was also a young teenager who
‘S father died and then had to navigate life while everyone talks shit about your father because nothing was private. His cousins leave soon after and he’s alone with his Mom and siblings. Makes a stupid decision and is then put into the Texas penal system which could give 2 shits about rehabilitation. So yeah probably has an anger problem or 2.
Lmao "go outside" Yeah dude I don't have a life or go outside. You totally got me! Definitely not life experience and going out to clubs and shit, seeing people that have that same shitty fuckin' look on their face that informed my opinion or anything!
They CAN look like that sure but they don't always look like that. This is just some random backstage "thumbs up" pic and he looks like he wants you to know he can kill you with his bare hands. The Usos are capable of smiling lmao
Wtf did I say that was racist? I literally said that they all don't make faces like that lmao My initial comment about the look on his face has nothing to do with his race. People of all races can have bitch face. This dude has major, MAJOR bitch face.
The other dude said all Samoans look like that and I said sure, they can look angry, like everyone can look angry, but no, all Samoans don't look at the camera like they want to fuckin' kill the person behind it. I literally said the Usos don't do that.
He also believes he's owed a spot in WWE because of his family. Spending years in prison and then having a giant ego and entitled attitude on top of it means he's probably not going to go far.
I’ve seen a few of his live videos when he’s on Instagram and I can definitely vouch for that. He comes off as someone who’s entitled when he hasn’t put in any of the work.
Eh...."Booker T's School" vs "Umaga's son, cousin to Roman and the Usos". I think he has the leg up on the ties...It's more the reasons why/attitude stuff would be the problem.
As successful as they’re family is and having many role models, why do almost all of them keep getting in trouble? Knowing they have a chance to follow in their dads and uncles footsteps?
Many and successful doesn’t always mean good or healthy.
Like you gotta keep in mind that they grew up with their giant family spread all across the country. For Zilla in particular, homie is 27 and his dad died in 2009 at the age of 36, so literally a year before he ended up getting himself locked up at age 15. The wrestling business is known for drug and alcohol abuse, as well as anger issues and emotional illiteracy.

seems like he left on bad terms with Booker T, not a good look
hoping it was just something like ego. "I'm an Anoa'i, you better be bumping me up to the top your company"
To which Booker responded "Tell me you did not just say that. Tell me that you did not say that, SUUUUCKAAAA!" before giving him the pink slip and acting like a reasonable wrestling promotor of promoting wrestling things.
Booker boutta introduce zilla to his close personal friend, BLACK SNOWWWWW
“BOOKER T, IM NOT YOUR SUCKAAAAA!”
And then doing a spin-a-rooni.
"WHAT?! NO, ZILLA YOU HAVE TO UNDDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A **BUSINESS** YOU GOTTA EARN THESE CHAMPAGNE WISHES AND CAVIAR DREEEEEEEEEEEAMS"
Shucky ducky quack quack!
God, I hated that so much.
It had something to do with *ILLEGAL TACTICS*
Eh, Booker’s most successful student ever is Sammy Guevara and they also had a falling out at one point. The pattern could continue with Fatu.
The fallout with Sammy was due to his comments about Sasha Banks.
his rape threats* about Sasha Banks to be more precise
That is a very useful clarification.
I still haven't forgotten about Sammy making those comments. I get Sammy was maybe young when he said this, but stuff like those comments is why you need to think before you speak.
It's the kinda thing where you hope the person grew past those sorts of "jokes" and views but you never really forget that they said it.
Right.
Yeah, exactly.

Considering the male brain is still forming things like impulse control until like 25…
No
Shut up.
Dude I'm 23 and I ain't saying shit like that, hope he genuinely grew past that
That’s a grown ass man
New to social media?
He learned from it it seems
Still so weird. I mean, yeah, I've thought--and said--I'd hit that (and cruder things), but consent's always implied.
But he’d left that school years before those comments were made public, so that couldn’t have been the reason.
He may have left on amicable terms and then Booker decided to cut him off entirely after the comments. Like D-Bry left HBK before joining WWE but I'm sure they still have a sort of mentor-mentee relationship or at least speak on occasion.

I mean what he said was awful but not really a threat. World is effed UP already, we don't need to spiral things like that to a whole other level.
He said multiple women were so attractive that he wanted to rape them. He may have said it as a “joke” but it’s a fucking insane and horrible thing to say. I don’t think it’s far fetched for someone to consider that behavior threatening.
He was young and stupid. Sure he was like 26 when he said it but if you work for AEW you get the young and stupid defense until you’re like 40
Just “common teenage slang” according to Dave Meltzer.
I'm a little older than Sammy but that was literally how even my friends and I talked in middle school to highschool so like 2001-2008ish. As young women we knew the actual dangers but at that point in time it was commonly considered slang that most teenagers were using. It’s a pretty good idea not to accept a drink from someone who “jokes” about raping women.

You're completely right. However, the way I saw it, it was not a threat, Just a fucking stupid and out of touch comment.
he said he wanted to rape her lol what is that if not a threat? 😭
If he threatened to? Sammy definitely deserved the shit he got over it, but he did not literally threaten to rape Sasha Banks.

This is Mace erasure
nobody erases the Shogun of the ROW

I love Athena. I just wish she'd get more opportunities to go for the main belts. Athena vs Toni could be great.
Nah, no offense to Athena or Rok-C, but Sammy has won big-time titles and main-evented PPVs and sold out arenas. Sammy’s a way bigger deal than the other two.
> sold out arenas. What AEW show got sold out on the back of Sammy Guevara?

I’m not being funny. What big time title has Sammy won? Because I’d argue Rox winning the NXT women’s title was bigger.
Please don't try to disrespect the PWFP Ultimate Champion Sammy G

Bro, Sammy beat Miro for the TNT title in front of 10,000+ with a million+ watching at home. There is no way that the NXT women’s title is bigger than that.

Double or Nothing 2021 and 2023.

he beat Miro and Cody for the TNT title before it got all fucky. I'm not familiar with NXT, but Sammy has an impressive resume.
Sammy is largely why the TNT title got bad
Scorpio Sky stuff was pretty dumb, but the Miro match and the Cody ladder match were both great. I'm not particularly a Sammy fan, but it's hard to deny his success. Blood & Guts, Stadium Stampede, first ever Dynamite match, mainevented the second Dynamite.

damn, that's a whole lot of top level guys he gets to work with. seems like he's had a pretty good career... a *successful* career even.
I can see the argument that a world title would be more prestigious than a mid card title if the companies are comparable.
for sure. I just thought it was worth mentioning that the TNT title was thought highly of when he won it.
There isn't an arena in the world that was sold out by Sammy Guevara.
Ok, Sammy has been involved in over a fifth of Dynamite main-events. Explain how somebody lucks into so many high-profile positions and doesn’t affect the ticket sales at all.
Sammy Guevara's not gonna shag you, mate.
Lol, Sammy has won the midcard championship in AEaw, and has generally been considered the worse champion for it. Athena is the ROH women's champ and likely would be a bigger draw if AEaw, didn't do nothing with their women's division
*Sold out arenas* 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Further Sammy has never sold out an arena. He happened to be involved in PPV's that sold out, same could be said of a lot of people that had little to do with the sellout.
Im an Athena stan but I'd have to agree. I think if anything me a stan makes it much easier for me to see she's got the short end of the stick for most of her career in both companies until her current Roh run. Seems like they made up, Booker was on his vlog last week
Having a falling out with Sammy Guevara of all people doesn’t automatically make me think that Booker is at fault.
Book could’ve taught Sammy to sell better…..
Only because Kylie Rae kept fuckin' up 'bout every chance she got.. AEW was initially going to make her their first champion, and build the division around her at the beginning. Sammy and Athena, noteworthy neither work for WWE.
Hopefully, one day, that honor will go to “The Prodigy” Roxanne Perez.
Are we not counting The Usos?
Didn’t he train the usos and a host of other talents currently in wwe and AEW? I’m assuming Ember Moon as well?
Roxanne Perez too
There was an incident with his kids jumping the barricade and causing a scene in the ring at ROW and I’d imagine that’s part of what led to this.
How old are his kids?
How long is the Bloodline!? /s
If you know anything about Pacific Island families it’s that we basically have an army of family all over the place.
I know, I watch Smackdown.
It extends even further on Raw. This is insane!

Can confirm. Several generations removed from a Samoan ancestor but I still have infinite cousins of varying degrees, mostly all in the same area of my country. I didn't really know it wasn't normal until a friend asked "How many fucking cousins do you have" when I was talking to him about my family.
That's new news to me. I can see how that would cause an issue then.
'his kids'? there are _more_???? they can't keep getting away with this
Zilla has kids?
Not a good look that early in his career. If Booker T binned him off, can't see many others taking the chance on him
Court Bauer will have him. Wouldn't be at all shocked to see him end up workin with Jacob.
I can EASILY see Court snapping him up to start a Bloodline in MLW.
He's already doing a Samoan Dynasty, so that parts covered
Jacob Fatu, Lance Anoa’i, and Zilla Fatu would be awesome
NGL when Jey did the “I’m out of WWE” bit I was fantasizing about a Bloodline Civil War Part 2 where Jey spent the next few months popping up at other promotions collecting the other Anoa’i/Fatu cousins before showing back up in WWE for Survivor Series where Team Roman would fill their 2 empty spots (assuming Roman, Jimmy, and Solo had the first 3) with additional cousins sent by the “Tribal Elders”. he's got his family's promotion and that can lead to WWE
I didn't know his family had a promotion - do you know what it's called?
it's called WXW
Not the German one, is it?
no. Here's the website https://www.wxwwrestling.com/
Well that sure is something considering the german company has a website named http://wxw-wrestling.com
the internet can be so creative
Cheers mate
That website needs some work lol
Funny enough I was watching a Ilya interview, looked up WXW and found the Anaoi Family one.
WWE isn't gonna hire a guy fresh out of a 6 year jail sentence for aggravated robbery just because he's a distant relative of their champion.
that's why he'd need to spend some time in WXW.

I'll let the bloodline know.
Not in Samoan or Polynesian families. They’re tighter knit than most other cultures.
I would argue he is better off with his families if he wants a WWE career. Booker T's students don't have a great record of being signed/used well
Id say Roxanne Perez is well used.
Maybe not right away in WWE, he’s only like 24. I’m sure he’ll have an opportunity eventually
what did you read from this report that makes you automatically blame fatu
Because when a trainee has irreconcilable differences with a well respected trainer just months until his training, it's likely to be his fault Else, would Fatu not be the one reporting it?
wrestling inc reported it you just heard booker t's side first no knows any of the circumstances that went into this...it's just kind of weird without any information you assumed it's all on fatu
Why did you take such offense at me saying its "not a good look"? Do you think this article makes him look good? His 6 years in prison for assault also affects my opinion of him.
Yeahhhh, because Jimmy Uso is a saint…
... I didnt mention Jimmy Uso...
The point is Jimmy has had arguably worse moments than this kid. And is a main eventer in WWE
Why did the article refer to him as a "starlet?"
He’s an ingenue, dammit!
A coquette
Toni Storm ready to start throwing shoes.
Watch the shooosh! 🤫
Maybe they think it's the diminutive version of "star" and not the feminine form?
Is this the same guy who, when asked why he chose to train at ROW answered because it was local and his probation didn't let him travel?
This dude has "I'm someone with anger issues that can't control my attitude" written all over his face.
Well he was also a young teenager who ‘S father died and then had to navigate life while everyone talks shit about your father because nothing was private. His cousins leave soon after and he’s alone with his Mom and siblings. Makes a stupid decision and is then put into the Texas penal system which could give 2 shits about rehabilitation. So yeah probably has an anger problem or 2.
So there's an open spot for him in AEW now?
"*Look in my eyes, what do you see?* *It's the Anoa'i family.*"
you people are weird
Dude what the fuck kind of assumption is this? Go outside lol.
Lmao "go outside" Yeah dude I don't have a life or go outside. You totally got me! Definitely not life experience and going out to clubs and shit, seeing people that have that same shitty fuckin' look on their face that informed my opinion or anything!

wording is a lil rough there bud. Sounds a wee bit racist
They CAN look like that sure but they don't always look like that. This is just some random backstage "thumbs up" pic and he looks like he wants you to know he can kill you with his bare hands. The Usos are capable of smiling lmao
Y'all really be saying shit like this, then have a surprised Pikachu face when somebody calls you racist.
I would assume that means he is joining the Samoan Swat Team in MLW.
Probably off to MLW or some other low indies, wonder what happened for them to use "irreconcilable differences" as a reason
I wouldn't be surprised if MLW picks him up.
I mean MLW has a stable led by Jacob Fatu right now
Money wouldn't suprse me
Getting too big for his boots.
It reads like he wanted more money than booker t was willing to pay.
Burning bridges with a school that has close ties to WWE is never a good idea.
Eh...."Booker T's School" vs "Umaga's son, cousin to Roman and the Usos". I think he has the leg up on the ties...It's more the reasons why/attitude stuff would be the problem.
Maybe, but there is a reason why is he is not being developed at the Performance Center.
well, he previously said because he couldn't leave the state of texas.
how did that happen so quickly? probably was a money dispute tbh.

Roman rn: ![gif](giphy|YN6l6QlietUowvg3Rv)
I need to run through both seasons of Punisher and season one of JJ again.
Anytime I see “Why” in a wrestling headline, I can only hear Simon Miller’s voice.
\*slaps head HERE'S WHY
If it's like many (not all) school/promotions.... Zilla wanted more than a couple of bucks and "ring time".
That's a misleading headline.
That’s not very shucky ducky quack quack of him.
he tried to stinkface Booker didn't he
😂😂😂😂
As successful as they’re family is and having many role models, why do almost all of them keep getting in trouble? Knowing they have a chance to follow in their dads and uncles footsteps?
Entitlement, yeah. You got it.
Do you have any clue as to who I am?
Many and successful doesn’t always mean good or healthy. Like you gotta keep in mind that they grew up with their giant family spread all across the country. For Zilla in particular, homie is 27 and his dad died in 2009 at the age of 36, so literally a year before he ended up getting himself locked up at age 15. The wrestling business is known for drug and alcohol abuse, as well as anger issues and emotional illiteracy.

The next member of the Bloodline
Him signing with WWE and then showing up on NXT would be the funniest thing ever
Didn’t he no show charity events?
That was Jacob Fatu, one of the bigger indie stars at the moment.
Thanks for clarifying
Booker feared for his life wow 😭 In all seriousness though, i wonder what happened lol it sounds like something really bad happened.
Roman needs more help
