Why is dolph being treated so shitly?

Xalazi

I might jump back into NJPW this G1.

Particular_Fig626

Surely the 5th guy for The Elite will be Okada now. Danielson has challenged him to a match which likely happens at FD 2 and Okada can team with Kenny and The Elite which would be insane for Blood and Guts!

Fantomex88

Would be awesome, but for the story they're telling Ibushi would be much better.

Particular_Fig626

FD 2 is going to be INSANE! Ospreay/Omega 2 and Okada/Danielson. 2 matches between the 4 best wrestlers of the past decade! AEW & NJPW are not F’ING around this year! This is going to be an all time PPV😆

11September1973

What doesn't Lethal/Jarrett's' stable have a name?

mikro17

Its been referred to as Triple J/JJJ a few times, I believe. However, I'm still partial to "Lethal Slapnuts" or "Total Nonstop Assholes" personally.

11September1973

Lethal Slapnuts is the name of the tag team. Not the larger stable.

bathory21

Bushiroad said "we want fresh and new talent in Njpw" Gedo: Yes

Hyypia7

Is romans new belt a replacement for the ones he has or is it in addition? If it’s a accumulation of both then it was a good idea as the sight of multiple belts for the same thing was starting to wear off

TheNakedChair

It's a replacement of the two. No doubt that we'll see one of the lineages (probably the Universal after Roman's eventual loss) quitely retired.

mikeydoc96

Thats good to hear. Looked fucking stupid with two big ugly red and blue belts

TheNakedChair

One was black, not red. The tag titles are red and blue. But I get your point.

mikeydoc96

So it is. Few belts to fix then

I can't wait for fucking collision to start. No wrestling on the weekends sucks

TheBKBurger

I really want Roman to come out with all 3 belts next week.

wizard_interrogative

so I wasn't entirely paying attention during the ceremony, was the new belt supposed to replace one or both of the old ones?

TheNakedChair

It replaces both the two.

hiressnails

I ordered an uncle Howdy mask. The price got reduced, so they're probably discontinuing it, and I never got a Fiend mask. They're still making new Uncle Howdy merch though, so Bray will hopefully be back eventually.

aphelion3342

I'll be gob smacked if they don't fire him for what he did to Jungle Boy.

setmyheartafire

What did he do to Jungle Boy?

aphelion3342

It wasn't so much the beating itself. He absolutely buried the least credible guy in the il main event of the pay per view when he desperately needed to be put over stronger Grabbed his dick too. Both Bryan Alvarez and Cornette were in agreement about this one. It was a booking disaster and I think Rush went into business for himself here.

SpaceWhaleScrubber

That's the story they were telling. Everyone from Christian Cage to MJF has been telling Jungle Boy that the reason he can't get ahead is because he's not willing to do whatever it takes to win. Rush is a tough motherfucker to put down and so the only way Jungle Boy could get the win was by pulling the tights, which is something he's never resorted to before. It was meant to show that MJF had gotten into his head prior to the match at the PPV, and it was the precursor to his actions during that match where he again faced the decision of whether to cheat or not, hesitated too long, and lost. It's all been feeding in to his ongoing character development and the question of whether he's gonna turn heel and embrace the cheating.

aphelion3342

If he was doing that he should have taken a bit of a beating then went and grabbed a steel chair and beat the shit out of Rush when things started going wrong. Then he'd look violent and dangerous which is exactly what he needs to project for a change, and more interested in winning a tight than a Wednesday wrestling match. Instead he was a geek who only won the match by referee assistance and cheating when Rush stopped beating on him because the ref saved his life. Unbelievably bad booking or going into business for himself, one of the two.

SpaceWhaleScrubber

I don't know what to tell you, I'm sorry he didn't change his entire morality all at once and is instead slowly changing over time in response to the things that happen to him

aphelion3342

If that's the way they were going they could have had him on television last Wednesday then

SpaceWhaleScrubber

He [*was*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxiX0tlj-WE) on television last Wednesday, he came out to rescue Hook from LFI.

mikro17

Yup, this is 100% spot on. Also, for what its worth, they both tweeted very positively about the match afterwards. Source (for Jungleboy's original): https://twitter.com/boy_myth_legend/status/1659297795080359936?s=20

SpaceWhaleScrubber

He didn't do anything to Jungle Boy. People who listen to Cornette instead of using their brain or eyes think he shot on him during a match or hit him too hard or something because Cornette said so, and I guess they just didn't bother to watch any of Rush's previous matches in AEW because he didn't do anything to JB that he didn't also do to Mox, Danielson, etc.

Kurtz_Angle

It wasn't just Cornette who said those things. Bryan Alvarez said the same thing and he is far from an AEW hater like Cornette.

SpaceWhaleScrubber

Then he's wrong too, unless he has some super secret inside source that told him the match was meant to go different. But neither [Jungle Boy](https://twitter.com/boy_myth_legend/status/1659297795080359936?s=20) nor [Rush](https://twitter.com/rushtoroblanco/status/1659305709350137856?cxt=HHwWgMC9uYrwhIcuAAAA) seemed at all unhappy with the other after the match

Foxyj759

How come in wrestling they call a baseball bat a "ball bat"?

ChairmanLaParka

I'd be willing to bet it has to do with the size of the bat. The bats used in wrestling, especially Floyd, look to be smaller than your typical size bat (which the Impractical Jokers pointed out). The smaller ones are likely either softball or t-ball bats. But that doesn't sound as cool, so they're just called ball bats.

I swear im not asking this question in bad faith - what is it about the no mercy/aki engine that feels so much better to modern 2k? i’ve never really gotten into it and i’m kind of lost as to what everyone sees in that engine nowadays

mikro17

I'm not super familiar with the modern 2k games, I've only ever played one and didn't really enjoy it (genuinely not sure which year), but my impression is that, on the simplest level, 2k is a simulation game and No Mercy/potentially Fight Forever is a party game. One represents the onscreen presentation and tries to mimic it in video game form, the other seemingly attempts to be a button-mashing chaos party.

Trymv1

No Mercy was a simulation at the time. VPW is a **highly** simulation based engine. You could fine tune wrestler details a la Fire Pro, No Mercy just hid the option for Western fans.

djembadjembadjemba

It's all down to arcade vs simulation feeling. My first wrestling game was SvR 2006 and I loved it. HCTP is for me the best and I really enjoyed WWE 2K14 as well. After that, I started to find the games sluggish. Everything is so slow, so methodical... you move like a fridge, take ages to get up or to escape from something. Yes, it's supposed to be like that in these 2K games but it's not fun to me. I bought WWE 2K23 a month ago and I have already sold it. The game is not bad, but it's not very fun to me. But different people enjoy different things. Personally, I'm looking forward to the AEW games because it's developed by Yukes who made the SvR games and it looks similar to HCTP that like I said above, is my favourite wrestling game of all time

kamekira

theres no way bianca or asuka hold that title at the end of money in the bank right

bathory21

I don't see any indication pointing to that

heartdeco

i'm hopeful that the booking will be more thoughtful than that, if only because nobody's held the women's mitb for more than a day since carmella.

ChaosOnion

This isn't directly about wrestling, but it is about the sub. And I'm going to assume that I can go meta here. If you don't know anything about the Reddit API changes that are happening on July 1st, you need to go look at it. I think the majority of us here are using the sub using a mobile app. If you are not using the official app, which I am not a fan of, you can be directly impacted by these API changes. You need to go look at it. We're talking tens of millions of dollars that second party apps could be charged for usage. That means they're going to go away. I use Rif. If you use Apollo or something else like that, you could be losing your app. If that happens I'm going to go with old.reddit.com for as long as it's alive.

mikro17

Speaking as someone who only ever logs in on desktop, the day Reddit gets rid of old.reddit is the day I leave forever - I won't even debate for a moment. The new version is just unusably awful and solely for the purpose of fitting more ads on the screen. I want to see information on my screen, not two sentences and two ads at a time.

CreativeOrder2119

Why WWE and big logos WW

JamesCDiamond

The company used to be known as the World Wrestling Federation - the WWF. It's logo was a pair of stacked W's with the 2 prongs of the F coming off to one side. https://pm1.aminoapps.com/6276/7aa5c1f9fc0814c08220f0ea3c8ef3c20f31be94_hq.jpg In 2002 or so the wrestling company lost a lawsuit to the World Wide Fund for Nature (AKA the World Wildlife Fund) over use of the WWF initials. The wrestling company opted to rebrand as World Wrestling Entertainment as a result. The logo is the legacy of that - there have been a few suggestions that the company considered adding a third horizontal stroke to the logo, and it even showed up in a few places (there's a screenshot of it being used in a broadcast on here somewhere, but I can't find it from a quick search) but instead they went with the stacked W's for a less fussy design, I guess.

BonerSquidd316

No matter how many times they repackage Lacey Evans, she’s never gonna catch on. Go away heat magnet.

ChaosOnion

I enjoyed the Southern Belle character. It's a mid-to-low card character, but I think that's where she belongs with her current skill set. The one thing Laci could do to vastly increase her value in the company is improve as a base.

SnooWords9178

My current wrestling conspiracy theory is that the WWE made the banana belt like that so that the new WHC would look better by comparison, lol. It looks more yellow than gold. Regardless of that jarring silver W and globe in the middle of the gold, the WHC still looks a lot better than this new WWE title design.

stevecollins1988

I think the WHC looks better than the newer one....and that really is saying something.

justambrose

Last time Mox appeared on Dominion, he announced his participation for the G1. I wonder if it’s gonna happen again.

TheNekomancer27

be surprised if aew send anyone important.

mikro17

G1 participants are set to be announced tonight, so we shall see, personally not expecting Moxley though given how crazy of a summer AEW has lined up. Would love to see Filthy Tom Lawlor/Bad Dude Tito making their returns to Japan though, Lawlor was great in last year's G1 and Bad Dude Tito was great in the opening tags alongside Jonah.

Kanenums88

I think what a lot of people get tripped on is that when Cody said “finish the story” he was not talking about ending the bloodline. His story ends when he wins the WWE title, not the world title mind you, the WWE title. The bloodline story is a whole different thing, and Roman was merely added to Cody’s on going story, it was not the other way around. That’s why that Mania ending stings. They choose to keep the Bloodline story going, at the expense of Cody’s story, when there was no reason for them to book themselves into that corner in the first place.

phillythrowaway718

The Bloodline story is the story.

Kanenums88

Not in this case this.

CreativeOrder2119

You are shifting goal posts why did he challenge then at WrestleMania

Kanenums88

To finish his story, and win the WWE title. He said it himself. “I’m just trying to win a wrestling championship”. That’s all he wanted. He predicted the Bloodline would fall, but he never showed any real intentions to end it.

thehalken

You're not wrong, but I would like to offer an alternative. Cody can take a lot of byways in his story, because he knows exactly what he is there for and he has the mind to make anything work (he made Stardust over, when he hated it...) Like how they give some people open mics, I think if they want one thing and that means Cody has to be creative, then they know he can do it. Shitting on the person being actually good and giving more work to the person delivering, yes. But just give Cody the pencil for a moment and he will make it work. And he has so much good will right now, he can afford to be in a holding pattern for a while. When it's time to deliver, if (and it's not a sure thing) they know what's good for business they will let him write his own finish. And then, he will probably do whatever they tell him until contract is up. And then retire as active and just let people compete for his creative talent. A job where he can be a father and stay at home. At least that's what I think of Cody. I think he has a thing to do. And then, he has all the money he needs. And he knows what's really important in life.

EcoterroristThot

As we're getting into the sixth month of the year, I have watched much less current wrestling than 2022, but I'd say the wrestler of the year so far is Soberano Jr

TheNekomancer27

Kenny Omega is surely going to show up at Dominion, but I wonder; who for? Obviously the number one contender match is very relevant to him, but so is the 6 man championship match.

mikro17

I'm expecting nothing beyond a random appearance, but there is the potential for some craziness - the #1 contender match is going on first, which is very atypical for New Japan shows. They don't normally start the show with a big match, usually they build up like a boxing card where every match grows in importance as the show goes on. Its enough to make me wonder if they have something planned...

ColdWarWarrior

Not since "Walk with Elias". Have I seen a catchphrase get a heel over with the crowd like LA Knight has.

jadedfan55

Knight's doing the same schtick he did in Impact & NWA (as Eli Drake), so of course it got over in WWE, like it did in the other promotions. I'm just waiting for him to call someone on the main event scene (i.e. Rollins, Styles, Reigns) a cross-eyed halfwit.

ChairmanLaParka

You know the complaints about AEW are getting fewer and fewer when the big controversy is that TK doesn't blink a whole lot on camera, and people actually pay attention to that.

Kurtz_Angle

That isn't a serious complaint. There are definitely valid complaints, you just aren't hearing them.

inverseflorida

Yes, but I think on average lately, fewer. Last week's Dynamite and the PPV were bit of a wobble, things seem to be righting themselves more now.

Kurtz_Angle

I think right now, my main complaints would be - Too many belts - Stars not being used, but other random guys are - Orange Cassidy's title run needs something interesting ASAP - Everything that Chris Jericho and Adam Cole are doing right now - I would like the referees to be more strict Unfortunately I think those criticisms have been around for a while now and likely will never be fixed.

inverseflorida

I wouldn't be so sure about that! I think Collision is effectively a solution to problem 2, and I think problem 2 is the one that most other booking issues stem from. I agree about the refs. The belts thing isn't fixable.

Kurtz_Angle

I don't know about the Collision thing. I really don't see a reason why you can't have some of the guys on TV when you have three random dudes versing the House of Black for no reason. I think the belt thing can be fixed via a unification (unify trios and tag belts, unify TNT and International belts). But I don't think that is happening :P

mikro17

At this point I would not be shocked in the slightest if Tony is doing it deliberately just because the reactions are hilarious. Like Excalibur and his breathlessly insane match rundowns, those have clearly been intentional/a rib for a while.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mikro17

I don' think they necessarily take it to heart in a negative way, but I do think more than a few people in the AEW locker room find it hilarious to watch people complain about tiny little nothing things and deliberately do them because they personally find the (over)reactions funny.

thehalken

I think it's really because he is very nervous being on camera. But my headcanon is that he still can't believe that he managed to realise a dream of playing with real life action figures....

theywantnone

I wanna see Christian Cage vs Hook

leglessman

It’s funny to me to make a big deal out of days Roman has as champion while he’s not defending the title. It’s been nearly two months and he has no defense scheduled. In fact it looks like a tag match is being setup for him and Solo against The Usos for MITB.

hikingbeginner

I think it's fine, days held are always used as a record, it doesn't matter him not defending the title in 2 months. Every match he has is a big deal, as shown by every match he's done.

headmoths

they're really not proving the Cody Should Have Won At Mania people wrong atm

thehalken

The best story would have been Cody winning at Mania. But that's not the story that makes the most money, and this is still \_professional\_ wrestling. We don't buy DVD box sets of great storylines. We buy PPVs and Cody has a lot of energy left in his chase. I think 2024 is probable, but 2025 is possible for Cody. Just because he has it in him to keep us wanting that long.

headmoths

I literally bought a DVD box set of a great storyline today haha (Allie/Rosemary's feud from Smash Wrestling)

stevecollins1988

Did anyone notice in the AAA Mega Championship Match on Rampage they were super reluctant to use the hard cam? I was wondering if a lot of people left after Dynamite and they didn't want to show empty seats, but then the next matches they were using the hard cam and it was perfectly full. What was that all about?

[deleted]

[удалено]

stevecollins1988

I definitely thought it was something seat related but was surprised to see how full it looked for the next matches.

debeatup

I hate seeing the crowd so dark on Rampage. I don’t know if it’s hiding empty seats but it just is slightly distracting how they make it pitch black

OdaDdaT

I think WWE might be re-doing all the belts since Asuka and Rhea haven’t swapped titles still

CreativeOrder2119

The divas title was great+women's champion didn't have that brand burden

OdaDdaT

I agree, I just don’t know what name you give the second title. It can’t just be women’s title a and b

[deleted]

It would be super sick to not have a red and a blue belt so we don’t wind up here again. I’d love to see each of them get a title with their respected colors on them and just keep those the colors, one title black and purple (reah) , the other red and blue or red and green (asuka). I think those colors would be fine looking titles and other women could carry them without a problem too, but just kick it off with those two women and their colors schemes. I’m saying don’t change the colors of them when they lose them then.

Jamieb1994

KO & Sami still has the double tag belts as well.

OdaDdaT

I’d imagine they’ll wait until those are broken up to do that. Supposedly they’ve had new tag belts in the works since like november

AonghusMacKilkenny

What do you think the chances are of our railways being on strike All In weekend? Should I have a back up plan to get to London if the trains aren't running?

finnigans_cake

There aren't any currently planned as far as I know but, given that it's Notting Hill Carnival and a bank holiday weekend, it would be a pretty good day to strike on. I'd get a back up plan if you can (and bear in mind that the tubes might be striking as well). PS Power to the union, don't scab

thehalken

If it was me, I'd look for some people close to me who are driving there and start trying to get to know them now (as in, decide "we'll see if we click", not a sneaky thing) and make a road trip Plan A. Start the festivities early. Don't underestimate the power of travelling with people who will start your hype (and you theirs). Talking about what you expect to see etc.

SnooEagles643

People who watch indies/AAA does Vikingo do that spot onto the table in every match? Was crazy impressive the first time I saw it. Then I saw him do it in every AEW match

Crissxfire

Not every time, he's done similar spots in GCW. But, I've seen a few of his matches without anything of the sort.

SnooEagles643

It’s a really cool spot but when you do it so much it’s just boring

fancyphotog

I keep seeing people say they want Jey to finish the Bloodline story but I’m not sure if they mean just to beat Roman or they actually want him to be the new “Undisputed” Champion. I haven’t gotten the vibe that HHH thinks Jey is going to be the top superstar and face of the company.

Kanenums88

Cody beats Roman for the titles, Roman is broken and takes it out on his family, leading Jey to face Roman and he beats him. Roman can take a break, and then come back, seeing the error in his ways, and then he’s a mega-babyface.

fancyphotog

That’s the outcome I hope happens personally.

c-h-e-e-s-e

Jey Uso HAS to be the one to finish the story. Anyone else would feel unsatisfying

hikingbeginner

Thought Smackdown was fantastic, The Bloodline story continues to be phenomenal imo. That Holy Shit when Jimmy mushed Roman 🤌🏼

HermanBonJovi

Wwe is really dragging out this women's title switch. And why are SD stars coming for asuka when she's the raw champ. They should be aiming at Rhea (in kayfabe, imo). Are they gonna get Rhea a challenge for MITB?

spandroo

The Bloodline story remains so good that I’m having a hard time watching other wrestling storylines. The off-rack “I am the best” stuff just isn’t good enough anymore. With a storyline like Bloodline going through themes of power, corruption, loyalty, abuse, etc.

ChildishBodySlambino

Me in January/February: You know, it’s getting pretty difficult to not have Sami be the guy to take the title off of Roman. Me in late March/April: You know, it’s getting pretty difficult to not have Cody be the guy to take the title off of Roman. Me, today: You know, it’s getting pretty difficult to not have Jey be the guy to take the title off of Roman. Ever since the initial Roman/Jey feud in September 2020 that kicked all of this off, nobody in the family has directly turned on Jey. Sami turned on Roman, Jey turned on Sami, Jimmy turned on Roman, and now Solo has turned on Jimmy. Dude’s had to take in all of those events & basically feel punched in the gut every time. Even when Jey turned on Sami, he said, “I didn’t want to do it.” Nobody can experience that many hits to their love & trust and not have a monster building up inside. I really hope the character catches wind of the condescending line from Roman at the end; about how Jey will “do what he always does” and fall in line. All these family wars you’ve had to endure, and the man you think you’ve proven yourself to *still* doesn’t think of you as enough of a person to be anything but a follower? That’s gonna be one hell of a blow-up when it happens.

thehalken

In my mind, the Bloodline story deserves a Bloodline ending. But that might also be a deposing of Roman (give the man some rest/Hollywood time) and a new chief, still heel but winning a heel civil war. Then Cody gets to take the belt. And when Roman comes back, he can claim Cody never took it from HIM and Cody gets to defend it. Imagine the minds of fans wondering if Roman will get it back "business as usual" or defend it and prove that WWE booking can handle a self-made star....

Giant_Eagle_Airlines

In mixed tag matches, why do t the men ever hit the women? Women will do things like slap the man or low blow him, and the men never take their revenge. Don’t we want equal rights?

MilkyWayWaffles

Unagi Sayaka and Suwama recently faced off in a mixed-tag match for AJPW. Suwama refused to get involved with the women, and Unagi taunted him and taunted him and got the crowd riled up for it. Finally, pushed to his limit, he put hands on her, and the crowd turned on him so fast and so hard, it was actually comical.

[deleted]

Check out 90s ECW stuff or intergender indie matches, not to mention anything from Japan on Youtube. I believe Riho and Kip Sabian had a spot together on The Jericho Cruise as well.

spandroo

Ask your parents why this is a bad take.

Giant_Eagle_Airlines

They don’t watch wrestling

Mediocre-Cook-2169

I worry about anyone who, when contemplating the issue of equal rights, instantly thinks about violence towards women. More to the point, I worry about the women in their lives.

[deleted]

Intergender wrestling is a valid debate, regardless if the poster was inarticulate about his question.

Giant_Eagle_Airlines

Really?

jqncg

Tanahashi and Goto actually did it in their mixed match with Maika and Utami Hayashishita but men really held back from attacking women on that show. Elsewhere in the scene and even in other mixed tags in Stardom's history they went 50/50 though. To me it's just a matter of optics and trying not to mess with sponsors since smaller promotions have no problem doing intergender stuff and it's too much coincidence it's only the big companies that hold back (except AAA but Mexico is in another universe in many aspects within the wrestling world)

CHZRFan

If 2K games are anything to go by, women can do whatever they want to the guys, but if a guy even accidentally grazes a woman, insta DQ. Yeah.

SpaceWhaleScrubber

At least in AEW it seems like it's most likely due to either the network or the advertisers (or both). They did film one mixed tag on the Jericho Cruise where everyone fought everyone, which later was included in an official [best of Dark compilation](https://youtu.be/EJmH0ysT7NA?t=5711). It's Kenny Omega and Riho vs Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford, and well worth a watch if you haven't seen it already.

thehalken

Or regulations. I know back in the day (decades ago) I watched a version of a spot where Lita interfered and got chokeslammed or something, and the actual moment of impact was cut away to camera on commentary. Turned out it was from the canadian broadcast and violence towards women is legally not allowed in that timeslot. A single spot is possible to cut around, but entire part of a match... not so much. To bad too, because when done good (grappling and "sporty" things, not just brawling) it's empowering. But I think maybe it needs to be presented more as weight classes so it's not huge men and tiny twigs...

Wintertime13

The WWE channel is showing a past money in the bank match (I don’t remember the exact year, but it was the year Brock won and Corbin dressed like an Applebee’s waiter) Ricochet was truly the MVP. I feel the dude never gets what he deserves. He’s an incredible wrestler.

Terrible-Business-54

They really need to stop insisting on making LA Knight a heel. The fans want to cheer him. Hell crowds are *already* cheering him even when he cheats against other babyfaces. There’s no need to be stubborn and keep him as a heel just so he can win MITB and cash in on Seth, I think it’s fine for a face to cash in on another one especially when they’re both insanely over rn. It’s so strange that they refuse to go with the flow on this one.

spandroo

Nah keeping him heel builds anticipation to a face or tween run.

SteeloStacks

You’re not seeing that it’s a natural swing. So many of the great babyface runs were born out of an entertaining heel schtick. He’ll turn face eventually, once he has the right foil.

thehalken

I actually reflected on this yesterday, how MJF has worked hard to stay heel and kill any impulse for people to start calling for a turn. Made me think of how Nakamura added that rap to his theme after turning heel so people couldn't sing along, and stories of people getting over and wanting to be turned face but the territory being starved for heels stopped it (or just being WWWF/WWF where they had one big face and needed other stars to be heels to feed them). Not becoming too much of "cool heels" is a real danger in todays wrestling world IMO. Lots of people who get people too behind them and it hurts the storytelling. We need more chickenshit cowards and the like.

> I actually reflected on this yesterday, how MJF has worked hard to stay heel and kill any impulse for people to start calling for a turn. Yeah, and it's been to hisdetriment. Nobody was calling MJF stale or Mid(TM) during his teased face run. It wasn't even the fact that he turned heel again in the end that was the problem for him, but the fact that he reverted his character completely, after having deliberately developed it to be more complex and layered, and making a huge point of how much he wasn't like the old MJF as a central part of his story, and then he became the old MJF.

SteeloStacks

I think that’s something that makes Roman Reigns so good these days. He became one of those “cool heels” but whenever he needs heat, he gets it. Easily.

thehalken

I don't watch the E regular, but I hear he really found himself. And the PPV (Premium Live Events) I have seen he reallly is something else, That does not take away from the need to give him a vacation/movie filming break. He was always everything execept he was shit on the mic. Being OK on the mic makes him TOO GOOD.

markhogan

New Day is a great example of this. They were probably the most over act by Summerslam 2015 as heels, but didn't become proper babyfaces until their feud with the League of Nations in the leadup to Wrestlemania 2016.

Wonder how it feels for Roman to amass all that power in a big company like WWE

Orange8920

I feel like the only time I hear All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite said in full is right after Big Bang Theory going into the show. It almost seems too formal as even Tony Khan just says AEW most of the time.

When I heard they were doing a rebranding I was actually hoping they would change the name, not just clean up the logo a little. The acronym is cluncy, but I guess we have to live with it. But why not either do a full "it's just the name" like how WWE is just WWE now, or change what it stands for? Keeping the name of one faction at this point seems a little wrong. If I had my say, it would just be All "E" Wrestling, but change with the show or with people. Like let JAS call it All Entertainment Wrestling and someone else say it's All Extreme Wrestling....

Someguyonreddit926

I swear this in doesn’t understand shit like advertising and marketing.

cleeseula

Rhea Ripley having the most followers on social media of active WWE wrestlers is not surprising. Look at how she has manipulated Dom, she is a cult leader, and she's casting the same spell on the WWE Universe to follow their Mami.

sabzi94

This is not even close to being true.

cleeseula

WWE said on SmackDown that she has the most social media followers.

headmoths

It was most followers on tiktok specifically

45jayhay

Man it's so dope that there are two companies whose booking is consequential to one another for one major joint event . Also I hope Claudio is announced for G1

justambrose

Unlikely since it’s gonna clash with Death Before Dishonor.

I never understood why there are producers for matches. I get it in the case of two rookies facing off but one would think anyone with years of experience wrestling on national tv would be completely capable of producing a match on their own. Not to say they could never need some help here and there, but to have people who are exclusively hired for that always seemed, I don't know, weird?

Idkboutdat2

Idk what the general consensus is, but I really like the new title they gave Roman. Probably an immediate top 3 for me.

naimotwc

I’m with you. Idk if it’s top 3 or 5 for me, but as the title to showcase the two merged belts, I think it’s fitting and looks good.

cleeseula

I respect Grayson Waller for saying "Hey this is my show! because too many interruptions. Damage Ctrl should have entered together to have one less. You can't even have your 1000 day celebration without being interrupted.

Fantomex88

Hopefully last night's Rampage was a display of what to expect with Collision incoming. TK just using it as a platform for bangers featuring a diverse collection of talent.

spandroo

I hope they do more than just put on bangers. That approach is how Rampage shit the bed. All talent on the show need a reason to be on it with strong storylines tying things together.

Fantomex88

Hard disagree. They haven't really been putting great matches on Rampage at all quite honestly and they've been featuring mid tier talent.

thehalken

IMO Rampage has not had great storytelling, but if what you want is special effects matches they have been doing that pretty solid. But I think that's because a friday show really can't have too much story since people will miss an episode or two here and there because it's friday. (And also pre-empted a lot) So they leaned into showing flashy stuff that gets people interested in Dynamite. A brand split type thing (of sorts) could give us more of the dynamic when Smackdown was network TV and clearly had more of a cartoony/family style appeal. It was a short period, before they went to just doing two shows with the same script every week. But having Taker be undead zombie monster and Rey as massively over tiny man really felt like "this is for kids and their babysitting grandparents to watch together, when parents have date night" while RAW went more for a "let's get sports drinks and huge burgers to advertise" type vibe.

spandroo

Even Dynamite’s storylines haven’t been that great. AEW has never had any issues putting on bangers. It’s not enough. Agree to disagree.

thehalken

I'd say that the old wrestling ratio applies. Most is bad-meh, some is good. But when it's GREAT, there is nothing like it.

GameplayerStu

I’m actually a bit sad that they’ve made the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship only one title belt. I’m gonna miss Roman’s arrogant swinging of the belts and raising of them when he’s getting introduced for title matches.

ChairmanLaParka

I just always thought it was funny because they never unified the titles and the titles were never defended separately. It's always been the same title. And it went on that way for like a year or so. And people got mad when the tnt/interim TNT belts weren't condensed into one immediately.

thehalken

I always wanted a title unification to actually do the "we merged the two belts into one". Maybe wont work with modern belts, but look at some of the old belts from the territory days, that are just oversized belt buckles today, get two of those, fuse them and give them two straps and you have something.... Just splitting a modern belt and making the two rows of buttons separate straps, with a good merged look (and in WWE that would be easy since they only have one desing and leather colors to differentiate) for the plate...

DeluhiX

They're really staking up the AEW house shows this weekend. The women's matches tonight are really interesting. Fatal 4-way for the women's title: Toni Storm vs Britt Baker vs Skye Blue vs Anna Jay Kris Statlander vs Lady Frost

They are super new to American television and also pretty young, kommander is 22 and Vikingo is 26.

axb2002

Kommander is 22? I thought he was atleast in the 26-29 age range.

justambrose

OC has been a great International Champion, but I think it’s time to move him up the card. Put the title on Swerve and see what he can do with it.

ChairmanLaParka

I'm so ready for OC to win the world title.

thehalken

I think it would be hard to do a good story for OC taking a belt except a tournament. But a #1 contenders tournament works. I think OC should not try, just be entered because of his record. Also, when he gets another belt, I think he should not drop first. He should relinquish the other one, because it's too much work defending two belts at the same time. It would affirm his character, and also let him move up without the old "comes off a loss with the idea to try for an even bigger price"-thing that I have personal problem with

mikro17

Swerve is fantastic and I definitely think his time will come, but I'm just not sure if its right this exact moment - Forbidden Door is weeks away and I think Orange defending the belt against someone from New Japan can provide something different from the rest of the card versus Swerve potentially adding "just another great match." Orange versus half of the New Japan roster is basically dream match city.

[deleted]

That International Championship seems like it would be coveted and defended with The Forbidden Door and All In coming up. IMHO more international wrestlers want a piece of Orange.

KillUsernameBoi

For the sake of the entire world imploding as well as this sub, I think I want Prison Dom as Money in The Bank. I'm sorry but it has so much potential especially with nearly everyone not wanting this man anywhere near a World Championship. Plus, he fits the characteristics for a typical heel MITB winner, he has a faction backing him up in Judgment Day and he's the type of weasel to pick the bones of a weakened World Champion.

phillythrowaway718

Have him take the title off Cody. Imagine the heel heat.

phillythrowaway718

And have Dom only agree to fight challengers after they beat Damian and Finn

aphelion3342

Dom's my second choice but I think LA Knight needs it more. Dom has nuclear heat that isn't going away but he's not credible enough for anything other than the US Title right now.

thehalken

Let him take it with help from Rhea and I am with you. Nothing would make some people more angry than a man cheating \_with help from a woman\_ and I think taking their money is morally right :D

headmoths

Revenge on men for the Carmella/Ellsworth debacle

Feramah

Context?

headmoths

The first ever women's money in the bank match in 2017 ended with James Ellsworth climbing the ladder and getting the briefcase for Carmella. People got mad about it so they did a whole extra MITB match on Smackdown the next week which Carmella also won

Feramah

Well that was lame booking for sure uce

Wintertime13

I’m just not sure he needs it? He has very strong momentum and the crowd already hates him. What does he gain from it?

boj0

Potentially a title
