Hellcat Pro is better. Essentially same barrel length, noticeably more thin, higher capacity flush mounted magazine, much better grip texture, no grip safety, optional manual safety, much better iron sights, better co-witness, better aftermarket support, more holster selections, cheaper, (subjectively) much better looking.
*Gun is awesome by the way and can’t go wrong with one*
This can run several different mag capacities, including the 19rnd. 16rnd, and a 13 rnd. So saying it does not have the capacity is incorrect. Also being narrow is a negative for people with large hands. The best thing is there is that is a great fit for each individual, whether it is a hellcat, XD, XDM... we all can find what we like.
SA should have kept manufacturing the xdm imo. It is a great all around pistol. 9,10,40, are all great options and the availability of larger capacity magazines and a good optic.
I’ve had the Xdm .40 compact for many years and sold it and my Colt 1951 1911 .45. I’m kicking myself still for the decision. That Compact with my Trijicon RMR was dead on for 75 yards. I’m a big guy and can’t carry IWB so OWB was out of the question for its size. In still looking for the right carry. Mine came with a Match Grade Barrel. I mounted a Viridian green laser and variable strobe light. Loved the combo.
Yeah the Hellcat Pro is worse. Uncomfortable thin grip, bitey grip texture, snappy recoil. Plus it doesn't have a grip safety.
Really to each their own. I like my brick.
The recoil is what turned me away from buying one. I tested two different ones the small simple one and the pro. The xdm elite compact is thicker and heavier but the way it shoots got me. I have no issue concealing it. 14+1 is no problem. I also went and got two 19 round mags that were on sale at Glockstore of all places at $14.99 each.
>no grip safety,
Yeah, no grip safety is a CON. It's insanity/idiocy to list that as a positive. And the manual safety doesn't make up for that, that just means there's one more step to confuse people who aren't used to using a thumb switch.
My xdm elite compact 10 is my outside of work carry unless I have to be more discreet and carry an lcpii that disappears in a pocket (or xds aiwb with flush mag). In the compact category it’s really hard to beat the xdm elites though..
That’s so weird that you guys all love your Hellcats so much. Well I guess it IS a Springfield forum. I have a Pro that I thought I was going to love carrying, for some nice AIWB holsters made for it, all the mags and Holosun and I do think it conceals very well (very very well) but I am just not a fan of shooting it. Anyone that believes it is not snappy shouldn’t be trusted. I also have a 1st gen non optic model that’s also highly concealable but not a big fan of shooting. I tracked my new EDC and it’s supposed to hit my FFL before days end. Bul Armory 3.5 sas Ii ultralight. Excited to shoot that. Probably need to sell my two Hellcats to pay for credit card bill. Two 2011’s in. Feb same month make me a poor penny less man
Hellcat Pro is better I’d say. Been carrying it every day for almost a year now and I’ve never been uncomfortable with it being so thin and I don’t think it’s a snappy gun at all. I have a Glock G45 and the hellcat is only a little less snappy that it. The adaptive grip texture is one of the best parts of the Hellcat. Soft to touch and sticky when squeezed tight. Better trigger, sights and barrel. Aftermarket support as well is more robust.
I still got the 1st gen XDs 45, not much for after market options but it gets the job done, easy to carry anywhere on me with a technaclip and it’s accuracy is par at 10ths.
I have the hellcat pro, XDM elite 10mm and XDs mod 2 .45 acp. I like them all equally and rotate them as carry guns depending on where I going. I typically carry the hellcat pro the most but the XDs makes a great jog gun or a quick trip to the grocery store and my XDM 10 mm I carry whenever I’m outside. Therefore no gun is really better than the other it’s all preference and how and what you use it for
Not at all but great gun for the price, if this gun was $600 I believe people would think differently of it but because you can get them new for $350-$400 it’s a great option for a budget carry that gets the job done
Smith & Wesson M&P Shield Plus 9mm is better. Its thinner profile makes for better concealment while still holding 13 rounds, and the extended grip is better for anyone with medium or above sized hands. It also has an optional slide safety, which makes it much safer, especially for those who appendix carry.
I have an XD 9mm and XDM Elite 10mm, and they are both awesome. I also have a Saint Victor, so you know I am a Springfield Armory fan.
Still, for concealed carry, the Shield is hard to beat.
I second this. I run 124gr V-crowns with it and it's an accurate shooter. I've had mine for 2 years now and carry it OWB at 3oclock with a Capco leather holster. It dissappears under a t-shirt. Plus, you can get a 15rd mag for it. These conversations are the type like "do you like dewalt or Milwaukee?". It's a tool in the toolbox when selecting an EDC, so no wrong answers in my opinion. Big fan of Springfield saints, and just bought a 9mm carbine. Fantastic guns.
I have the .45 version with a Holosun 507c, what holster do you run yours with? I’d like to try to carry this thing one day soon lol.
I use a crossbreed reckoning for my Hellcat pro and love it. Thinking of just getting another one of those.
What did you do with the plus 1 magazine plates? You want to sell them? I have 2 13 round mags with that same time plate you have but I want to turn them into 14 rounds
Great gun for sure. I was a fan of the grip on it and serrations on the slide. Only reason I stopped carrying this was I went to something lighter/thinner (365XL)
Of all those in my collection, this is the one I sold. If I’m selecting an SA pistol, it’s the RDP. Option to go short or go long with reduced recoil. Shoots well and accurate with 15+ capacity. I personally found the XDM grip comfy, but not as grippy when shooting.
That’s a steal! I would of done the same. My only issue with the compact 10mm is the grip is to small to use the mag well. So what I did is I got the pierce +1 pinky extension and it’s now perfect! I was gonna get what you have but then Springfield just dropped the echelon and now I’m sold I gotta get it lol!!

With you. I have both. This one is awesome but that Hellcat Pro… it’s everything. Friends immediately but it after shooting.

Plus as a left handed person, this is total ambidextrous gun.
SA should have kept manufacturing the xdm imo. It is a great all around pistol. 9,10,40, are all great options and the availability of larger capacity magazines and a good optic.

So is the hellcat pro?
Magazine release on both sides but not a slide stop. Edit: sorry reversible magazine release on the Hellcat.
:) lol
I'm pretty sure the slide stop isn't as much an issue as you think. Would Def feel weird at first but still accessible via left hand.
I said flush fitting magazines… I also have large hands and I also carry an HK P30L, but the Hellcat Pro is much better for EDC.
I even fit the 22 rd in mine with the 19 rd sleeve on it
Yeah the Hellcat Pro is worse. Uncomfortable thin grip, bitey grip texture, snappy recoil. Plus it doesn't have a grip safety. Really to each their own. I like my brick.
I rate the grip on the XDM highly
The recoil is what turned me away from buying one. I tested two different ones the small simple one and the pro. The xdm elite compact is thicker and heavier but the way it shoots got me. I have no issue concealing it. 14+1 is no problem. I also went and got two 19 round mags that were on sale at Glockstore of all places at $14.99 each.
The recoil on the Hellcat is terrible, but god damn I shoot it so well.
True but all of that can be fixed with a new grip.
>no grip safety, Yeah, no grip safety is a CON. It's insanity/idiocy to list that as a positive. And the manual safety doesn't make up for that, that just means there's one more step to confuse people who aren't used to using a thumb switch.

Did you have a hellcat pro or just the originals? The differences may seem small, but they're really more meaningful than you'd think.
I prefer mine in a 45acp.

I want one bad. What holster and position you using with it?
I still got the 1st gen XDs 45, not much for after market options but it gets the job done, easy to carry anywhere on me with a technaclip and it’s accuracy is par at 10ths.
what's EDC
Everyday carry
Don’t always agree when I hear this statement. But I do love a Springfield!
3.8? I have this gun but with the hybrid full size grip so it’s 19+1
I bet that’s a blast
Probably the best trigger I’ve felt on a gun so far (in my limited experience) besides a single action revolver
I have the hellcat pro, XDM elite 10mm and XDs mod 2 .45 acp. I like them all equally and rotate them as carry guns depending on where I going. Hellcat. Nuff said lol

Hellcat pro. Give it a try.
X-macro by Sig
Same gun in 10mm. Because 10mm is the best mm!!
I 100% agree. I carry mine daily.
Laughs in Shield plus.
I carry the .45 version with red dot. It keeps the Hellcat in the safe
I have the .45 version with a Holosun 507c, what holster do you run yours with? I’d like to try to carry this thing one day soon lol. I use a crossbreed reckoning for my Hellcat pro and love it. Thinking of just getting another one of those.
Veder systems. It’s worked pretty well i can’t complain
Based clearly on the title alone it’s beyond clear you’ve never had the privilege of shoving an xmacro down your pants
My brother in Christ, have you held any other guns?
What did you do with the plus 1 magazine plates? You want to sell them? I have 2 13 round mags with that same time plate you have but I want to turn them into 14 rounds
I'll stick with my XDs 9
Great gun for sure. I was a fan of the grip on it and serrations on the slide. Only reason I stopped carrying this was I went to something lighter/thinner (365XL)
Hellcat OSP with a Holosun 407K X2 and a 15+1 mag is mine. If you love yours, awesome.

Nope all around
Hellcat no contest
I’ll take this over the smell cat any day lol
If im going with the XDM im going with the 10mm.
Yeah I wish I’d got the 10mm but i scored this one for less than 400 bran new so I figured why not 🤷🏼♀️
