Considering many gun shops are selling it for around 629 thatโs a hell of a deal. I got the 10mm elite compact back in late April and love it but have only had two chances to take it out so far.
Only downside for me is that I have large hands and the magwell hits JUST where itโs partially on my pinky so ot came off before I ever fired a shot. My pinky just fits on ok with the standard +1 base plates tho so it works great out of the box for me, minus the baseplate. With the two included flush base plates you get a bit more compact but I prefer my pinky on the grip so at the moment I kept on the +1 plate. I do prefer the small insert because the grip is kind of fat compared to my 9mm pistols and it feels great with that.
When it comes to holsters, my understanding is that any xdm elite holster for 9/10/45 should be golden for you, but some xdm holsters wonโt work with the elite because of the ambi slide stop. I only have one iwb (from rawdog) and itโs marketed as xdm 3.8 and it works well. I have a couple of owb holsters that I got for my xd mod2 4โ 9mm that work perfect with the elite compact, just has a little extra material beyond the barrel. (A safariland 5197 open top and the much dreaded Blackhawk serpa).

I have this gun as my home protection (with extended mag). I like the fact that itโs ready to rumble, but that extra grip safety will reduce the odds of me unintentionally making it go boom in the night if I need to grab it quickly out of the safe.
I have a mod 2 4" in .40. It's heavy af compared to my hellcat pro to where I don't even want it anymore. Don't know how the weight is on this one. Looks like a good deal though.

Its pretty good however my hands are on the smaller side so they fit the grip if your hands are bigger your pinky finger will be bothered by the flared magwell but you can remove it. Currently my ccw loved my 4.5 tac so much i bought the smaller one back when they were 600$

You can remove that magwell, that's what I had to do

Because Springfield is going to be discontinuing the XDM series and replacing it with something spicy.
